Great service , food not so much
The service was phenomenal , attentive, friendly, knowledgable. The food not so much. Not sure if the chef had a bad day or what. The food was priced for NYC but lacks flavor and taste. I could have cooked the same dish at home and saved money. I wanted to take my wife to a nice restaurant with great food. Guess I misjudged this restaurant. Bring your credit card with a big spending limit. You will need it.
The unremarkable food, untrained service and cheap plastic outdoor seating makes this place one to skip. It seems to be geared to the young late night bar scene.
Southampton Social Club
We had a "coupon" from Open Table and the only restaurant accepting a coupon near us was Southampton Social Club. Prior to getting the coupon I went on the website and saw that there was a $39.95 Prix Fixe every night and it had some wonderful things so I got the coupon. We booked for Saturday night at 7 and when we got there we were told that there wasn't a prix fixe on the weekends. The prices ala carte were extremely expensive. $16 for a Caesar Salad??!! Small at that. I asked the manager on duty and was told that she had never been on the website but would look into it. After that they treated us very fairly and took off our salad and wine and the dinner was outstanding and it came out to about what the prix fixe would have been. Restaurant was not full at all - only two tables inside when we were there. I still don't knnow what days and hours the prix fixe is but would defiitely go back for that.
We had a lovely evening outside. The food, wine, ambiance & service were outstanding. Scott is the best chef in the Hamptons! It's is our favorite spot.
Late night fun
My girlfriends and I went to Southampton social club for dinner, dancing and drinks. The dinner was mediocre. Besides the mussels, it wasn't very good especially for the price. After dinner, the dancing and atmosphere were amazing. So much fun! Next time I will eat dinner before going and having a great time dancing.
Given the name "Social Club" I assumed it was a private club with lots of noise. I found out that it's a restaurant while looking for somewhere new to eat in Southampton. The welcome was friendly, our table in the elegant dining room was ready, and the staff was attentive, helpful, polite and obviously happy to work at this restaurant. I saw several larger groups - including one with children - and many younger people obviously enjoying dinner before heading to the night spots of their choice. The food was perfectly prepared, the wine choices good, and we will definitely be back.
Service is poor
Although the food was very good the service was not. Our order was taken and they sent out an appetizer that we did not order. Instead of bringing out the correct appetizer they proceeded to bring out entrees. They completely rushed us through our meal. I had to put my foot down and complain to waitress who dissappeared for long periods of time. My entree which was red snapper was $36 and very tough. I sent it back! The place is not well managed and good service is not their forte.
They do it right
Owner Ian Duke and Chef Scott Kamph have put together form and function. A wonderful dining experience; indoors, outdoors, vibrant bar scene, great for groups, a romantic dinner or a Holiday Party. Ian goes out of his way to treat his guests like friends and Chef Scott is one of the hardest working Chefs in the business always providing a unique, eclectic, tasty and creative menu. Love the indoor horseshoe bar and then in Summer the outdoor bar and seating. Wait staff is attentive, meals are delicious and desserts are to die for. When you are in the Hamptons, it's worth your attention. Let's eat!
Was looking for a good way to spend a nice evening on the last weekend of the summer. Outside seating was spacious with good seating for small as well as large groups. Inside seating looked very nice as well. Food was excellent. Every course presented well and tasted as good as it looked. The menu was pricey, however the price fixed menu that is available until 7:30 on Friday evenings is well worth it (not available on holidays). I did not stay for bar scene but you could tell they were gearing up for evening crowd with several seating areas and bars. Drinks were a little pricey, but were again really unique in cocktail offerings.
Been here several times over the last few years and each time it gets better. Food is really good, and a $37 prix fix is a great deal. We always recommend this place to our guests when asked for recommendations. Gets really crowded later on and has a lively scene but early on is a very romantic setting.
This restaurant is a keeper!
Great food and service; lovely decor; very chic. Go early; noise level picks up dramatically at 8:00pm with a very young crowd at bar. Especially loved dessert--the funnel fires are amazing.
Good and plentiful
Very good food with very large portions. Fabulous pizza and funnel fries. Although Open Table said the price fixed dinner was $30, the menu listed it as $37. We showed the $30 price on the Open Table website, and I'm happy to say, the owner honored that price.
Home of the $24 burger!
Nice enviornment, great service, prices off the charts!
Very average food for outrageous prices. Very attractive staff. Better to go there for drinks and possibly light bites later in the evening. Great venue but just not a good dining experience. Very attentive staff.
Very good, great outdoor seating.
Food was delicious, however the portions were small so order alot of appetizers. But that could get pretty expensive.
We had a great time!!! The service was very slow. It also would have be nice for everyone to be able to order their own appetizers. Anyway we will definitely return!
It does not get much better
One the Best, most consistent places I have ever eaten. What ever the time of year the food and the service is 5 star. The best crab cakes around hands down! It is always hard to chose an app with other choices like short rib slides, and lobster tacos. And do not miss out on the pizzetta made with gluten free hemp bread big enough to share. The entrees do not disappoint - Lobster capellini is a perfect summer meal and the filet is a good indulgence. Charred vegetable napoleon is a tasty vegan choice. DO NOT FORGET DESSERT - the chef out does himself with the funnel cake fries with caramel dipping sauce(my guilty pleasure) but the white chocolate mousse and coconut creme brulee are good alternatives - Worth every penny - a must try
Food looked great it didn't taste as goo ...
Food looked great it didn't taste as good as it looked the server made the experience good not the food
Love social club
Love social club! Great atmosphere, great food and fun drinks. Always a good time.
Food was definitely sub-par for the money. nothing special.
Great decor.... Not impressed
The Social Club is absolutely stunning. I was not very impressed with the food. They chinced out on the lobster roll. It was all crossaint and hardly any lobster salad. The BBQ short ribs hardly had any barbecue on them. The seared tuna and burrata were good, but totally cliché. The service was non-existent. Very nice, but it was extremely obvious how young everyone was.
NYC goes Hamptons
The food was well prepared and had nice flavor. Tables are small and very close together. Service was good but felt a bit rushed.
Every aspect of the dining experience at SSC is tasteful, expert, and friendly.
Large open space for a night club. Nice style though for a restaurant-club. Service was horrible. No manager around. Had to ask for water three times. Had to find the waitress for everything. Ran out of multiple items but I am okay with that assuming the items were fresh but on a limited restaurant week menu with reservations throught this good site you would think they would be well stocked.
Once again, great meal
We go to dine here early (6PM) so it is sometimes quieter at that time. In the Fall they do a price fixed, 3 course menu which is an outstanding deal, I think it is all night Thursday, and until 7 on Friday. Almost everything on the regular menu is available, other items at a small supplement. They are open Th/F/ Sat only in the Fall. Well worth a trip. My wife and I ate really well here again. Great job guys!
best off season
We went on a Thursday in September with a 7:45 res. There were 2 other tables with diners. The service was pleasant but not in your face, and unlike in season, it was quiet and leisurely paced. You cannot beat their prix fixe! Portions were full sized and nicely prepared. Can't agree with many of the negative reviews about tiny portions. I couldn't finish my entrée or desert - and I'm not a skinny Hamptonite - just a normal sized North Forker. We'll definitely go back.
Every thing we ate was top
Every thing we ate was top drawer, what can one say
Southampton Social Club
Quite an interesting place complete with private cabanas for discreet outdoor dining. Very good food.
Mikey Hollywood thumbs up SSC!!!
Great dining, upscale socialites with dancing and lounge areas. Ambiance flavored with a true Southampton feel. Foodies will not be disappointed and the service is highly attentive. The dining tables and bottle service tables transition should be noted. SSC rises to the occasion and it will come with a steep cost. Nevertheless, life is short ...so make it a point to enjoy the elitous experience.
The Southampton Social Club
The Southampton Social Club is a great place to eat. Just beware that the seating host and hostesses can be rude and dismissive.
Quiet Thursday dinner
The place was pretty quiet on Thursday night on the patio (and there was no one inside). I hear it is packed on Fri/Sat. The food was very good and you get generous portions. At 3 courses for $45 it is a nice break from the high cost of many other nearby restaurants. The patio s very nice and service was very attentive.
A foodies dream.
I decided on an early date night with the hubby and as we had not yet tried this local treasure, we went. We were in no way disappointed. As we arrived early, we avoided the night time bar scene so it was quiet with only thw surround sound soothing tunes in the background. The Duck and Filet were the absolute best ever. The ambience is classy, romantic and very Southamptonesque. The service could not have been better. We also learned that we could bring our children to dine with us when a family came in to dine. An early dinner hour along with outdoor dining would be recommended if dining with children. I could really go on and on about just how perfect our meals were but am limited in this review. Oh! Don't forget the doughnut dessert.
Excellent Sunday evening prix-fixe including oysters for the first course at no additional charge. Excellent wine list. Duck breast superb. Desserts uninspired and disappointing. Otherwise an excellent meal.
food excellent, service fair.
food excellent, service fair. bad selection of vodka. drink prices extremely high, and i go out alot. had a 6:30 reservation and they were still setting up around us...moving chairs, etc, not cool. waitress nice but disappeared alot and not that knowledgeble.
Good spot for dinner/drinks
I've been here many times for drinks and went for dinner for the first time. My mahi mahi was overcooked and charred. Not excited about the food experience, but has a good bar atmosphere.
Overpriced average food.More
Overpriced average food.More of a lounge/bar than restaurant
Place to be
I enjoyed the atmosphere. Huge fan if music and enjoyed it playing throughout dinner.
It was just ok. I think that
It was just ok. I think that it's just been reinvented and reopened recently and I get the feeling that it's literally more of a "club" than a restaurant. Maybe it should just be a club. I would definitely suggest that the "club music" played at dinner in the dining room be left for later when it turns into the "social club". Other than that, the experience was okay. We had a gift card so did not pay for dinner, if I had, I would be saying that it was very expensive and not worth the money.
Surprised how good
After reading a number of reviews about how pretentious the scene at this location was I was pleasantly surprised to find that the restaurant, at least, is a real gem. We dined just prior to attending the opening party for Art Southampton. Accordingly, I can't say how the late night club scene is but the restaurant itself has all the attributes you could possibly want for a refined & enjoyable dining experience. The food was exceptional, the service was exemplary, the ambience was delightful and the restaurant itself was gorgeous. We will definitely be back.
I don't recommend this place
The service and food are sub par. Throughout our meal, our waitress kept coming over every 10 minutes to ask if we were finished with our food and wanted anything else. The bus-boy even tried to clear our dinner plates when we hadn't finished eating. The food came out right away but wasn't very hot, clearly the food is pre-made. When we told the waitress at one point (after her 7th time coming to try and rush us through dinner) that we're still working on our food, she seemed annoyed and became rude. This place is not worth the ridiculously high priced food - not by a long shot. The only positive part of the experience was sitting in the garden.
