This was one of the best dinners I have had in San Francisco for a while! I found it to be more inspiring than Benu, the display of spring ingredients officially put the season in full swing! Thanks again! Chef
Sons & Daughters Delievers
This is my fourth time to this exquisite hidden jewel in downtown San Francisco. Each course is specifically created to be an experience to the senses (even to the small bread accompaniment and it's varied salt from around the world). As the summer approaches, the ingredients will continue to elevate the dishes. Wine pairing suggested (only negative is that the wine pours are on the small side). Positive note, they completely accommodate special diets such as vegetarian, pescatarian, allergies, preferences, etc. There is no reason they can not accommodate. This is not an inexpensive restaurant so be prepared to experience an dining event worth the cost. Limited tables so book yours well in advance.
S&D is at the forefront of enthralling dining.
Their relationship with the earth, the sensitivity of the staff and the magical touch in the kitchen combine to create an unforgettable experience. Breathtaking.
Phenomenal experience at sons & daughter ...
Phenomenal experience at sons & daughters! My boyfriend and I went to celebrate his birthday and were beyond pleased with the service, food, and ambiance. It's a smaller venue with open visibility into the central kitchen which makes for a more intimate experience. They serve a 7 course tasting menu, with 3 breads paired with the mains. Outstanding. The staff even took the time and attention to personalize our menus with a "happy birthday" message at the top, and showered us with complementary champagne and a candle with dessert to celebrate. Couldn't be happier with our experience and enjoying one of the best meals to date. I would highly recommend!!
Progression to fulfillment!
The meal started slow, but as they introduced the trout the meal's character began to take shape. Vegetable selection was top notch with asparagus which was both crisp and soft enough to be sliced by a butter knife. The lamb was cooked to perfection, but we we're in awe at the desert selection. Highlighted by an espresso ganache (which was "pillowy"), the dessert tour created a lasting impression to an already memorable meal!

Wonderful food artistically presented. Small individual potions, but cumulatively perfect. My wife and I shared the wine pairing, and this too was perfect.
Exquisite and delicious! My son and I celebrated his 25th birthday here, and it was perfect. The food was wonderful and artistically presented, and the service was impeccable. The fireplace added to the warm and cozy ambiance. We highly recommend it.

Fabulous food, great texture and flavors.
would def return, chef is spot on with combining flavors, service was excellent,my husband is a very slow eater due to a medical condition, never felt rushed. A must do restaurant.
Still our favorite
This restaurant has never failed to delight. All the dishes are very well balanced, flavorful and unique from plate to plate. The bread they add in throughout the meal are my husband's favorite part of the meal. If you are looking for a finer dining experience with a comfortable atmosphere, great service and good value, Sons & Daughters is the place to go!

Nothing spectacular in this meal after the amuse bouche, which was terrific. Lots of muddy flavors and strangely unfriendly wine steward.
No A la Carte
It would have been useful to know that there is no a la carte before booking. We were in town for a few nights and hungry after having drinks nearby. This had good reviews and was near our location at the time, but the $125 PP, 7-course meal was not quite suitable for a 9 pm dinner (I was jetlagged and extremely tired by course 5). The main savory dishes were also not to my liking, but the ones that were were very good!

Fabulous dinner. Very creative and delicious dishes, you can taste that everything is fresh from the farm. They were very accommodating when dealing with my slight food issues. We had the wine pairing, no problem when asking for and extra pour. Very good and interesting wines chosen by the sommelier. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to foodies.
Excellent value for fixed menu
As advertised, ingredients are very fresh and dishes are very tasty. The egg dish with chicken skin and veggies was the outstanding dish, and squab is so tender and flavorful. Service was excellent. Good value for pre fixed menu. Wife and I were very full afterwards as 3 breads delicious and filling.

Important to know it is a prix fix menu period. Good wine selection, accommodating for vegetarians. My companion was a bit testy about the food, mainly the herbs and spices. But I thought it was delightful just too loud to actually have a conversation
Had a wonderful meal with my son and daughter at this lovely restaurant. The courses were diverse and delicious. The service impeccable. I live on the East coast and visit my adult children frequently. This will be in our rotation of favorite restaurants!
yum yum and yum. the service was outstanding and the food was even better! perfect for special occasions or the experience.
Sons and Daughters delivers again
We love this restaurant. ..we can always depend on dining at the best, imaginative and wonderful food from their farm...incredible service nicely paced.. a great selection of wines...and the three warm breads fresf from.the oven. We feel pampered and delighted and know,we will return to experience the changing tasting menu again.
Great spot for foodies
They only offer a prix fixe menu. There is no al last carte. However, they do that menu so so well. If you eat here I promise you you will get a unique dining experience.
Great service and good food
Great service and good food
Indifferent/rude service overrides the ok food
The dinner for 2 with wine pairings was over $700 which is quite a lot of money. Especially considering the cold, stoic service by everyone except the head chef. There were 7 courses and 3 were very good, the other 4 just good. The restaurant is very cold feeling - all gray, nothing on the walls which is reinforced by the staff. It started with the hostess when I called to say that traffic was so bad that we would be 15 minutes late. Ten minutes later she called back to say that they would be giving away our table even though we called to say that Superbowl traffic was so bad.
the perfect dining experience
inventive, complex dishes paired perfectly with yummy and unusual varietals. wish i were rich just to be able to go to sons and daughters more often.
Tasty Californian Foods.
I had my Birthday dinner with my husband at this restaurant. We tasted good quality of contemporary Californian foods. One disappoint foods main dishes. Although main dishes were delicious, two of main dished are both meats (pork and duck). We prefer that main dishes are both meat and fish. We also want to have a cheese plate. Service is not formal, but polite and confortable. Noise was comfortable moderate level, not disturbed our conversation, but kept privacy. Open kitchen is clean. Staffs did not generate any noise, including unnecessary conversation, as often see many restaurants. Overall we had a good time at Sons & Daughters.

Great food with beautiful presentation. The food surpassed my expectations, as every selection on the tasting menu was delicious. Interesting wine list that contains plenty of gems for the wine geek in me. The only shortcoming is that half bottle selection is limited to just champagne. Thus, pairing wine for each course using the wine list for a party of 2 is not possible. The restaurant does offer a wine paring for each course at an additional cost. We selected the wine pairing and found it disappointing on this night. The cost for the wine pairing did not match the value of the wines offerred. Too many of the wines selected did not pair well with the food.
What a gem!
What a pleasant surprise to come across this intimate and cozy space! During our recent visit, we were so happy to experience the tasting menu with its innovative dishes and perfect wine pairings. The service was impeccable and very accommodating. One member of our party made a special dietary request upon our arrival, and a new menu was designed for him and printed out within minutes. We felt very special eating at this delightfully charming restaurant!
An unforgettable taste adventure
Every dish was an exquisite balance of flavours and sensations that made my taste buds sing. Beautifully and thoughtfully presented in perfect proportions so that each course flowed seamless into the next. The wine pairings complemented each dish perfectly. The ratio of salty and sweet was interesting , making each dish a true taste adventure. The service was pleasant and unobtrusive. This is definitely a special occasion destination.
Our meal at Sons & Daughters was one of the very best either I or my partner have ever had. The food was sublime, the service exceptional, and the room nigh on perfect. The entire experience was simply outstanding.
Really lovely dishes with incredible and unique pairings. The server was among the best I have had at any michelin star restaurant.
It is a prix fix menu, and the restaurant was able to accommodate vegetarians. The food was very good and unique. However, some of the entrees were a tad salty.

Their bread is what dreams are made of. All else was great too (not dream material, but delicious nevertheless). The oppa fish and the final dessert (the pink rectangular blood orange cake thing) were the most underwhelming. The first three courses uni egg thing, scallop, and sunchoke were my favorites. The egg killed me. It was witty and delicious, and thus great both on a spiritual and physical level. Special shouts out to those chandeliers tho 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

The food was very fresh and creative. But for most of the small plates, the flavor was indistinct. A bit disappointing given the $$$$.
Fixed menu of small extraordinary treats
Preparation of five small plates and two deserts and extras changes with daily availability of local and seasonal ingredients, and their own farm produce. A central ingredient is highlighted and contrasted with additional tastes, making each dish different, unusual and exciting. Our five dishes were built around a soft egg, sunchokes, sweetbreads, cod and duck, with limequat and blood orange to finish. The accompanying wine pairing could easily be split by two and was excellent. The wine menu is extensive. Service is attentive and helpful. Small quiet setting but not really romantic in an all grey plain room. Costly but worth it for an interesting unusual and well prepared menu worth its Michelin star.
Amazing service, good food, memorable times
First off, the service here is amazing. Everyone brought their A game and was super helpful, nice, knowledgeable and inviting. The food was good. It was in no way bad, but it didn't exactly blow my taste buds away. The butter for the first bread is delicious! I like the cod and the sunchoke were my two favorite dishes. The dessert was nice and light. The coolest part about the restaurant is the concept that this all comes from a local farm in Santa Cruz. So I would eat here again to support local businesses.

Right away I was welcomed with a glass of champagne and sitted right in front of the tiny 6 x 8, well-oiled 4 manned kitchen. Having a personalized menu with your name and date was a nice touch. Only tasting menus are available; ala cartes are no longer being offered. However you can inform the chef to revise the menu according to your dietary restrictions. Normally I would get the matching tasting wine, this time I opted-in for a glass of my favorite Riesling - Kabinett 2012. Full credit to the sommelier for the outstanding selection of wine. With an 8 person staff, to perform through out the night and fulfill everyone's highest expectations, everyone must go above and beyond. And they did. The details that they put on each plate was outstanding. I'm a big fan of uni. The first dish on the tasting menu was a combination of scrambled egg and fresh uni. I've never had it together before. After tasting this dish, it's a beautiful combo, well thought about dish. Although the servings are about 2 tablespoons sizes, by the time I got to the the heaviest part of the meal, I was completely stuffed and couldn't finish my final entree. The competition in San Francisco is very high. In order to be the best, you've got to take it to the next level. I would give this restaurant 4 out of 5 stars for trying their very best. I see great potential for this restaurant.

Great flavor combinations and service. We really enjoyed the bread courses too.
vibrant taste of food
service was excellent. good wine selection. and love how they put everything together
Great food, not my style
Food was fantastic, nearly everything was sourced from their own farm. Great service and presentation, overall a great experience. That said, it was more than 3hrs for the meal, which to me seemed excessive. I realize that was 100% purposeful, it just isn't my style. That is why it gets 4 instead of 5 stars. I likely won't be going back but would definitely recommend to anyone who considers themselves a foodie.
