Our server severely neglected our table. He didn't even apologize about it. I love you guys and your food! It was unfortunate that our server wasn't the best.

They had a wonderful Sunday brunch, with entertainment, the place was hopping! The food was very good and the atmosphere is energetic.
Only thing I would complain about is I asked our Hostess if there was seating outside and she said no in a very short and not so friendly voice. I noticed she sat another group of 5 outside about 5 min after we were seated 🙁. It was our 25th Wedding Anniversary celebration and I was hoping for outdoor seating. Besides that everything else was outstanding!!

I went with my kids for easter brunch. The place was crouded, the food was just OK, and the customer service was really bad. The servers were trying to get rid of the costumers as fast as they could. The view was nice

I went with my girlfriend for our anniversary dinner and the food was amazing. She had the fish Ensenada tacos and she loved them. I had the short rib barbacoa and it was amazing. Great flavor! To drink I had a blended lime margarita and she had a michelada. They were great as well. Our server was Tony and he was very helpful! He had great recommendations and we will definitely be back again. Oh and the complimentary valet parking is a huge plus! (:

Went on Friday night of a holiday weekend so our group was pretty relaxed about the service being a bit slow on our drink orders. Tony was a very good waiter & really understood the flavors & nuances of the food & drinks. Everything we had was good to excellent. The sweet potatoes came as a side & were delicious but the corn appetizer was a favorite of our whole group. Will definitely go again on a weeknight just to get the full experience without the crowd.

You can't go wrong with any of the specialty tacos! Have tried several and loved them all.
Best value in Newport
We spotted this place last year when we were looking for a small bite and drinks by the water. What a find! Fresh ingredients and great flavors at a price that was definitely lower than what I expected. This is on our itinerary every time we are in town.

Our Fun Place in Newport Beach.
We love this place. Their Guacamole is great, the food is a different style of Mexican and delicious. This isn't your regular Mexican Restaurant, Thank the Lord! Its very fun here, but the Sunday March Madness crowd can be overwhelming.
Sol's the place
Been to the Newport Bch location many times. Always visit. Live in CO and they're opening a location in the Denver area.
A scenic luncheon.
We were celebrating a friend's birthday and were so pleased with our dining experience. The waiter was very prompt, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. There was a large selection of Mexican favorites. Instead of small tortilla chips, large crispy tortillas with black bean and salsa dip was provided. Many of us ordered the street carnitas tacos and enjoyed our choice. I was pleased to see a variety of flavored margaritas. It was hard to choose, but the waiter guided me to the blackberry ginger margarita which was delicious. Be sure to try the dessert with chips.... a real hit!

The food is good but our server was rude and impatient. The restaurant wasn't busy at all either, she just had a bad attitude.
Had reservations for window, not accommodated.
My family was in for a funeral, so we thought Sol would be great..I made reservations for a window seat, but none were available
Daytime Vibe / Nighttime Vibe
The food here is pretty good and the restaurant week menu is a really great way to try their menu without paying an arm & a leg. I enjoy eating outside on the deck by the water for lunch, it's relaxing and great to have a conversation with a friend. The night time scene changes dramatically especially, on taco Tuesday. If you're looking for a quiet place to have dinner this is NOT the place to go. The restaurant was packed, the bar was full and the noise level was loud. We had a reservation so we didn't wait at all but we were seated directly behind the hostess stand and felt crowded and service was very slow. I'll be back for lunch but never again at night.
Great first time visit to Sol Cocina
Visited Sol Cocina for the first time with my wife last week. We asked for seating by the water and were granted our request. Food selections were phenomenal! I'm not a huge Mexican fan (I really have to be in the mood for it) but their selections were some of the best I've ever had. My wife had the goat cheese enchiladas and I had the grilled carne asada quesadilla with a side of habanero sauce (if you like hot I encourage you to get this). We were stuffed - we had to bring our leftovers home. I even asked for a side of habanero sauce which they gladly provided. This is definitely a go-to next time we're in Newport Beach.
I have been to SOL many times since it opened in this location. This night (Tuesday), our waiter was servicing too many tables and drink orders took way too long from the time we ordered to the time they got back to our table.
Loved the food and the service. The black bean dip they serve with the chips is my favorite. We started with the goat cheese appetizer which was amazing. Then had 3 different tacos (favorite was Vampiro). I wished I would have saved room for dessert. Next time!
I made a reservation online earlier in the day and we were seating on the "patio" right along the window! It was a perfect spot for our group since we wanted to be able to talk to each other and the dining room and bar were quiet noisy. Great food, Dad loved the tequila selection! Overall a great dinner! Thank you!

This is the 3rd time we have been here. First time, happy hour, good. Second time, dinner, fiar, 3rd and last time, terrible. The good news, the service in the bar and table, was very good. Cocktail waitress very sweet and waiter, great and patient. The food, fish tacos for me, rubbery and broke through the tortilla before even one bite. Even worst that that, the noise level. There was an singer that was horrible and felt like she never stopped singing. The Noise level was deafening and ruined the meal more than the food.

Great...Taco Tuesday throughout the ENTIRE place
Went there for the first time and it happened to be a on a Tuesday and the place was packed. Got there early and had a great margarita in the bar and decided to hold off on eating until we were seated. At the table we were surprised to find out the special Taco Tuesday Menu (with significant discounted pricing) was available even at our table...not just at the bar. We stocked up on tacos and guacamole and more margarita and it was delicious. I would absolutely go back.
poor service !
Took 20 minutes to be seated at a window table although we made a reservation. Then took over 45 minutes to receive food even though we went on a Monday afternoon and the restaurant was not busy. We ordered vegetarian tacos and there was a piece of steak in them! Nothing else we ordered had steak! Previous times when I came here the service was not this bad and it was more crowded.
The food was fantastic, and the ambiance was very special! Great night overall!
Great food. Also romantic. Bit noisy but great.
Great food!! Really delicious and awesome service. My girlfriend loved the food. We went for valentines day and they also give free valet.
The portions were generous, affordable and delicious. A gourmet twist to typical Mexican, this was a great place to dine. We will DEFINITELY be back! Our waitress, Christine, was incredible as well. She made excellent suggestions for our first dining experience.
Fun, Romantic & Delicious!
Came here on a Saturday for dinner with my boyfriend. The ambiance was beautiful and fun, lively music played in the background. The mango guacamole blew us away! I had so much fun and left full of great food.
Wish we lived closer...
unique cuisine...incredibly fresh and well-prepared...comfortable, friendly, a real bargain as far as I am concerned...jalapeno cucumber margs are beyond great...try "Sloppy Jose" and Sol ceviche...a la carte tacos are awesome as well...friendly atmosphere...harbor view...relaxed and lively ambiance...live music...can't say enough about Sol Cucina. We live in Riverside, but I choose Sol for every special occasion if I can!

A great Mexican restaurant on the coast in Newport Beach. Excellent service. The margaritas are generous pours and value. Love the appetizers especially the queso. Brunch is an option on Saturdays and Sundays. There are tacos for everyone from meat eaters to veggie eaters Sol has it all. A great choice when in Newport.

The gold standard for a mexican restaurant
Sol Cocina is my all time favorite Mexican restaurant. Love the Taco Tuesdays. Love the skinny maragaritas. Love the guacamole. In fact, not sure there is anything I don't like there!
Great places for special occasions. Was able to bring a cake & balloons for a suprise & everything worked out great. Host was very helpful. Food is definitely amazing. Looking forward to coming back for another occasion.
Unfortunately we wee there on a Tuesday night and we surprised by Tacos and Tequila night. A large noise, single crowd. It was difficult to have and hear dinner conversation. Would have chosen another place if I had known of this night. However on the plus side all wine was $3 off.
