Delicious innovative food. Love the ambience of the tavern. Service is always attentive and informative. One of our favorite places to eat! Worth the drive and the cost.

Love dining at Sidney!
This restaurant never disappoints us. The food is beautifully created with unusual twists that make it no run of the mill place. The service is warm and friendly and you never feel rushed. We feel like it is a hidden gem in East Berlin that anyone can enjoy!
I was apprehensive. There was a conflict of favorable comment referral by relatives versus unhappy customers beginning of 2016! I was relieved to have an evening exhibit great wait staff, wine, FOOD--compliments to the chef!, timely delivery of meals, answering our questions, with the delectable dessert! My party of four had happy bellies and happy hearts. Thank you Sidney's! We will return!
Recommend this to all of your friends
Some friends recommended Sidney's to me. I would recommend this to anyone; higher priced, but very good value!
Central PA gem
Our party of 4 had a great dinner her on Saturday evening. Everyone raved about their food. The service was leisurely which did not really bother me until it took 20 minutes to pay the check. But otherwise a great place.
A little disappointed
My husband and I went to Sydney's for our Anniversary. We were a disappointed with the taste of our entree. Not seasoned at all.We ordered the prime rib and the monkfish. It was bland. The service was wonderful, however
Our Special Visit
We had a wonderful experience at Sidney's. Our meals were excellent. Our service was very professional. Our waitress was very kind and helpful. We were there because it was a special occasion and it made the night very special. Thank you
"Lick your plate" good
Delicious food priced right! Similar high quality meals in the city are much higher. Worth the scenic drive to this beautiful location - a destination!!
Love Love Love
The love of my life took me here for Valentine's day. I am a foodie and I can say without hesitation the food was amazing! It was perfectly seasoned, cooked and visibly beautiful. It made our Valentine's day one not to forget! It was a romantic experience that made me fall even more in love with food and my man. Thank you!!
A Regional Best???
My wife and I and another couple visited Sidney on Valentine's Day. Although I made our reservation weeks in advance, we were seated at the table closest to the door. Each time customers entered, we were greeted with a blast of cold air. We asked to be seated at a different table and after 20 minutes, were able to move. However, it took nearly 15 minutes to have our water glasses filled and our drink orders taken. After attempting to order a $40.00 bottle of wine (one of the less expensive wines), we were told it had sold out. Two additional attempts to order $40 bottles were met with the same results. The wait staff brought a bottle as a suggestion, but it was priced at $135.00! (Bait & Switch?). Two of us settled instead on a bourbon flight, which arrived well after our appetizers and entrees. In addition, when our orders were taken (at 8:00, 45 minutes after arriving) we were told that 2 of the 8 entrees had sold out as well as one of the 5 appetizers. Although the fod was good, it was not fitting of the reviews this restaurant has received. None of our party seemed anxious to return to Sidney in the future. Perhaps on a warm summer day when few people are in the restaurant, the service and meals may be better.
Very poor service this visit
Seated immediately, but Waited 10+ minutes before anyone greeted us at our table. Service was very poor, drink order took too long, portion of the entree was cold. Would not recommend based on this visit.
Recently dined at Sidney's for a Valentine's dinner. We had read good reviews in the newspaper but should have read more. The stark atmosphere matched the starkness of our mediocre dinner...mediocre at best. We shared a miniature plate of calamari and moved on to prime rib. This was so fatty that I left half behind. It was accompanied by a few overlooked bland vegetables and a small terrine of mashed potatoes. Pretty humble fare for a hefty price. We went home hungry for dessert there. I was not willing to spend another dime and risk another overpriced bite. Thumbs down all around. We could have enjoyed a meal for half as much at any local chain.
Good, not great
I've been a fan of Sidney for several years and was always blown away by the experience. This latest visit was not up to their usual standard. The service was outstanding as always and the atmosphere still a cozy, quaint setting perfect for a romantic night out. I was a little let down with the menu. We had one great dish and one so so. I'd still go back for another try but I don't think Sidney is my #1 go to.
I ordered flowers for the table and they were beautiful. This place is a GEM in the country side.
Enjoyed the experience
I didn't find the choices to tick off relevant. We were a group of four, enjoyed the food and the portions. The room - fireplace - was a bit noisy but tolerable. The menu is limited but varied something that I value in a restaurant; the chef can concentrate his and his crew's attention on quality. You are about an hour's drive from our home so Sidney's will not be a frequent visit. That is why I ticked the 'special occasion' box. But we will return, definitely.
Worth a longer trip
We decided to try Sidney Tavern to celebrate a birthday at lunch time after reading a newspaper article about it. It was a 40-minute drive for us, but it was well worth the travel distance. All of the food was delicious. The potato crisps appetizer was especially excellent as was the cappuccino dessert. The pasta special was great, and the eggplant parmesan sandwich was delicate yet hearty. Thanks for a great birthday celebration!
Took my wife there for our 27th wedding anniversary, service was great and the food was fantastic!!
The staff at Sidney is great, especially Kelly and Amanda!
Great food and very, very nice service. We've eaten there twice over past frew years and it has been wonderful each time. Worth calling to make the reservation in person to try to get a table in the tavern room. More ambience.
Great Evening Out
Always an excellent time - good food, good service and lovely atmosphere. This is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. We've been here numerous times and our only regret is that it is a distance from our home - or we'd go more often.
Food was suboar
We've eaten at Sidney many times, and never once have I had a complaint, but this past weekend our food was bland (and overcooked). I ordered pork and lentils. It was so flavorless! And while our server was nice, our food came out on top of itself. At one point we had bread, oysters, soup and amuse on our table. We were also looking for a quiet evening away from our kids- aka time- and were finished in less than an hour. Just not your best night, Sidney.
Finally had a chance to visit Sidney!
I have looked forward to visiting here for a long time, and finally had the opportunity when I brought my sister here for a birthday lunch. The food was wonderful, as was the service! Dessert was a bit pricy, but amazing. Will definitely be coming back with my husband.
After reading your review in the Patriot News where the writer gave glowing comments on your open face Haddock with Crab I was hooked. Very disappointed it was not available at 5 PM.
One word: Delicious

Outstanding dinner, the food was well prepared and the server was very pleasant. The menu is diverse and the wine list, while small, has the right pairings for the menu.
Excellent food. Service was awful.
This was my second time at Sidney's at East Berlin. Once again, the menu was unique, food was prepared excellently. Service however was horrible, making me question whether we'll ever go back. The restaurant was not full, yet we were pretty much "forgotten" by our server, Brittany. It took over two hours for dinner (no special orders or requests either) yet every course took extremely long to arrive. Upon the two hour mark, I requested the check because dessert hadn't arrived and my husband & I had another engagement. Just then, dessert was delivered, mine melted, my husband's cold, along with the check. No apologies were given by waitstaff.
The Eshbachs always enjoy Chef Will's expertise!
Our favorite charred calamari appetizer is back! Always enjoy the fish entree options and wine selections!🍷 Sidneys continues to be a special treat for us! The servers make great efforts in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Kudos to Chef Neil and Chef Will! Happy New Year!
Sandwiches like no other
We had lunch at Sidney's. Using the term sandwich really does not do them justice. Haddock with crab was sumptuous. Eggplant parmesan was like nothing I ever tasted before, with the best focaccia bread I've ever had.

Sydney offers creative food, well prepared and presented. Neil Annis, the chef and owner, learned his craft, and his restaurant management skills in NYC, and this restaurant would thrive there. Best for seafood -- always something intriguing in the monkfish/cofiish/halibut sector, but don't overlook the pork tenderloin. A solid wine list. Pleasant setting, well trained staff. Expect to pay $150 or so per couple for three courses and a bottle of wine. Easily the best place in Adams County and environs. Been coming for years; never a bad experience.
This was the nicest, most inspired dinner experience we've had in an awfully long time. I mean there's good, there's memorable, then there's a tier or two above that where this restaurant belongs. It's well over an hour away from my home and we WILL be making that drive again soon.
Wonderful dining experience.
Very interesting entrée choices which my family loves. The wilted spinach served with the monk fish was amazing. If you are a meat and potato type of diner...would recommend the tavern instead of the fine dining restaurant. We visited the tavern for a drink after dinner..and plan to return to try that side of the restaurant for dinner some day...very courteous and attentive staff.
What a wonderful experience my sisters, our daughters, and I had at Sidney's! The setup was comfortable, the food was delicious, and the server deserves high praise. She accommodated everybody equally (11 of us) without being intrusive, noticed when someone needed something, and responded promptly--always with a smile. A local friend of mine recommended Sidney's, and I will forever be grateful to her for doing so. We all had a very pleasant experience.
Kitchen ran out of prime rib but tenderloin was very good. Monkfish was excellent.
Sidney's may be a bit hard to find and in the middle of nowhere, but it's worth the effort. The food is excellent, and the service outstanding. Located in an old building in East Berlin,it boasts a colonial atmosphere, simple but elegant. Try Sidney's for a special occasion.
A lovely lunch!
We met with friends for lunch at Sydney's, the second time we have done so. It was again an excellent experience! The food is first class and beautifully presented, the service attentive and skillful, and the dining room is calm and charming. We will certainly be returning... one of our favorite places to dine in the area
As always, the food was spectacular ! BUT, the service was awful...I don't know if they were short staffed or just not interested....waited 20 minutes for a drink, and it went down from there. So disappointed in Sidney's......but, the food was PERFECT!!! Worth the wait???????? Time will tell.
Great food but the service was very lacking...
We have dined here on several occasions and the food has always been excellent, including this night. What was a problem for us was our server didn't have her act together. The bartender was also not efficient. It should never take 30 minutes to get a drink. While dinner was slow to arrive, our drinks were as well so there wasn't time for a second cocktail which was disappointing.
Fun at Sidney
We were seated quickly. The service was a tad slow at times, but the restaurant was busy so that's understandable. The food was wonderful, wine list not huge but with many good selections. It was a very nice evening!
