We had a party of 8. They had our table ready with our reservation. This place was a little pricey, but great food quality and presentation. The ceviche was a standout along with the fish dishes. The desserts were sized for two people and amazing.

Just read all of the favorable reviews on all of the review sites and assume they were all understated because we couldn't find the words to describe the food. This is the absolute best meal I have had in Sarasota. I have been here three times since 1/1/16 and every meal is outstanding.

It was our second visit, this time we had 6 in our party. Here we go, there was no valet as described, so we drove around the block several times till we found a spot. Not a huge deal but if you advertise valet, you should have valet. Then it started with the water, tasted like really bad tap water full of cancer, full of chemicals. Something out of an old hose. Have to give it to them on the appetizers they were great, thumbs up. Last time we went we had the seabass and rack of lamb, it was excellent, this time we tried something different and thumbs way down. I think without the seabass and lamb they don't have much left. Short ribs tasted like they were out of the microwave and the salmon plate was never finished or barley continued. There's more but I have wasted enough time. Worth the visit but not multiple times

Very poor service this evening. No apologies, no recognition that the starters took close to 40 minutes.
This is my favorite restaurant in Sarasota. A little pricey but worth it. The service is always good and I have yet to be disappointed by food. My out of town guests love it.
We wanted a restaurant where we could have a light meal before a show at the Van Wesal. Our waiter was great - made excellent suggestions and explained the various dishes. The presentation and the food itself was outstanding! We ate outside.
As always, we had a delicious meal. Our server was excellent.
Enjoyed our dinner and had very good service.
Very good for that special dinner before an evening at the theater in Sarasota. We did not feel rushed in order to make the curtain time. One of the better restaurants of equal value in the area. We highly recommend Selva for a memorable dinning experience.

Great For Foodies!!
I'm a restaurant owner in another Florida city across the state, and I'm "A Foodie". Loved this restaurant. Everything was special, the vast choice of Ceviches, the Paella, the service. I had not heard much about this restaurant and found it on Yelp, and I almost went back the last night, (and probably should have). Selva was the best of my 3 dinner outs of my 3 day trip. Highly recommend. Our server was Michi, or something like that. She was VERY good in every way, so nice.
Great every time
The skirt steak at Selva Grill is the best- we can never order anything else!! It is superbly prepared. Cocktails are great as well. This is a great spot for first date, night with friends or family, business dinner, and beyond. The excellence is in the consistency.
Two couples went to Selva Grill before going the FlA Studio Theater. We were on a time schedule. The food that we ordered was delicious, beautifully presented and we got out on time, thanks to the waiter.
First time at Selva's. Instead of Flemings or Roys--where we often go--I took my wife to Selva's for her birthday, and we were not disappointed! Best presentation of food on a plate we have ever seen, i.e., each plate was a work of art. AND the food was terrific. We thoroughly ejoyed the Skirt Steak and the Lamb Chops. We have added Silva to our regular list of fine dining!

Great food and great service. Maggie, our server, was very attentive.
I took two business clients who are foodies to dinner. They were blown away by the creativity of the dishes. The Chilean sea bass was cooked and plated beautifully and the combination of sauces and spice were simply outstanding. The ahi tuna/watermelon appetizer was a hit as well. My guests rated the meal in their top 10.
Wonderful Sea Bass
The Chilean Sea Bass was wonderful! Good wine, nice ambiance, a little pricey, but worth the expense.
I cannot find another restaurant in Sarasota that comes close to Selva. The food is excellent!! We tried the snapper dish this visit and were blown away. The sea bass was also awesome. I can't wait to go back!!
'Simply the best restaurant in town'
I have been coming to Selva Grill for many years whenever I am in the region and have also brought many of my visiting friends there for dinner. The food and service are ALWAYS at the same high level and the selection of (Malbec) wines is outstanding. It is every time a special occasion to return to the place.

IMHO--The best in town
We come to Sarasota every year for a month and have been to Selva's Grill every yr for the last 4 years and have never been disappointed. This year they took my fav, the veal chop, off the menu much to my dismay but the paella was a great substitute.
We sat on the patio with the heaters and it was very nice. We enjoyed the ceviche, Spanish chopped Caesar salad and my short ribs with asparagus and requested plantains. My husband did not love his swordfish special - plus it was way too expensive (we forgot to ask how much it cost before we ordered). Overall, though, the food presentation was quite impressive and it's definitely a nice restaurant.
Very good as always
Another enjoyable evening at Selva Grill. The food was excellent and the service was attentive and very friendly. One of my favorites in Sarasota. It never misses.

Three of the four items that we ordered were cloying sweet. My husband's shrimp ceviche appetizer was drowning in orange sauce, and the highly recommended flank steak came atop fried plantains that were worthy of a famous New Orleans dessert Bananas Foster. My dishes, although also contained a sweet component, were interesting and palatable. I loved the tuna-watermelon starter and the Chilean Sea Bass. If you come to Selva Grill, be a sure to bring your sweet tooth.

The food preparation, delivery, quality and presentation are just about the best you'll find...anywhere. This is a destination spot and if you're in the area you should make a point to eat here. You will not be disappointed.
We were once again, very happy with our dining experience at Selva. This was our 4th or 5th time here. It is consistently good
One of the best in Sarasota
We really like Selva Grill. We go there whenever we can. I have reviewed it before but would still go back any time. Love the drinks and the food. The service is very good. It is a wonderful restaurant.

The best so far in Sarasota Fish dishes where perfect Would be a regular if I lived here
This was our second visit and it didn't disappoint! We love fine dining and the cultural twist and complex flavours and presentation were exceptional! The ceviches were to die for (we've tried many and loved them all!). We ordered the red snapper on both visits and loved more each time. This is truly an amazing dish. Last visit was black cod and this visit was Mahi-Mahi and Shrimp duo. Both of those were good but didn't blow us away as much as all other courses. The Selva Mojito was delicious and both desserts rich delectable treats... chocolate mousse and peach bread pudding with an UN-believable caramel sauce to go with it. The service was perfect, and the ambiance romantic, but a bit dark for pictures and easy to miss some of the details in the plating!! We will absolutely be back but along with our red snapper favorite I think we will try a meat dish for a change. Ceviche as appetizer of course and ANY one of their amazing desserts(share because they a re huge!)

Great vibrant restaurant. Very loud and happening. Scallop, tuna tartare and wahoo were the stars. Paella was outstanding too.
