I would definitely recommend this restaurant to someone who hasn't dined there before. The view is amazing especially if your seated closer to the ocean side. Perfect for a date night or to celebrate any occasion. My only complaints would be that the few times I've eaten there I had ordered the same Entrée and each time the sauce tasted different and I believe the service for the price I pay there should be able little better. Only once since I been there the service was awesome. After, that it was not so great. After giving us drink menus it was long wait for the server to return then we had ask what the chefs daily specials were. Overall I would visit this restaurant again.
Food was amazing, we had the pasta dishes. You can't beat the view.

Breathtaking view over Honolulu
Overall a great experience. Atmosphere, service, and most of the food were great, and above all the scenic view makes this restaurant very special. We had pupus, they were delicious. Then we had a filet mignon which was perfectly cooked to our wishes, and two of us took the Catch of the day - it was Mahi Mahi - and unfortunatelay the fish was overcooked and the portions were tiny considering the price. Nevertheless we will probably return.

I'm a bit surprised Sarento's received recognition from Hale 'Aina. I didn't find the food to be as good as I'd expect for the prices and reviews. We had the ahi bruschetta appetizer (quite good and fresh) and vongole (decent flavor). My main dish - home made spaghetti with their signature meatballs - was disappointing. Meatballs were fine, nothing great, but the entire fish was drowning in sauce. Not at all a sophisticated dish with breakout flavors. Average at best. The view is amazing, though they need to update the interior as it's dated. The service was excellent and better than the food served.
Our 20 th Wedding Anniversary dinner
From start to finish the staff at Sarentos at the top of the Illikai in Waikiki made us feel special. They had our table ready for us immediately . The view was spectacular of the city and the ocean. As the sun went down the city lights were mesmerizing. The service was friendly and the timing was perfect. My husband had the Veal Osso Buco. I had the Lobster special, both were well presented and delicious. They have quite an extensive wine list and are well informed when asked questions. We were even treated to dessert which was Tiramisu, my husbands favorite. The night was finished off with a cocktail called night cap. Just perfect. Thank you for making our Anniversary dinner so special.
Sarentos sits on top of the Ilikai Hotel right in Waikiki. You take the outside glass elevator up to the entrance of the restaurant. We arrived around 6:15 and were seated immediately at a table along with window with an amazing view of the marina on one side and Diamond Head on the other. Great to watch the sunset!! The meals and desserts were wonderful and enjoyed by each of us. The waiter was also excellent and very attentive. A little pricey, but it was vacation and it provided a memorable evening.
Amazing view, but just too $$$
This is an iconic restaurant with million dollar views. Service was terrific and the food was pretty good . BUT - $200 for two entrees, three drinks, and one appetizer is just too much.

The filet mignon meatballs were better than grandmas. The homemade spaghetti was aldente and the gravy was amazing. The service was impeccable. The views are spectacular and the wine list is extensive. This is a must if you love Italian food.
What a gem!
We were so pleased to find Sarento's and enjoyed a beautiful dinner and experience. Fantastic scenery, service and food! I recommended it immediately to all I met in Hawaii. This is a definite for all visitors looking for a special evening out on Waikiki.
But I wouldn't really call it Italian. Food was really good, wonderful attentive service, great view.
GREAT FOOD, GREAT VIEW, GREAT SERVICE
One of the best restaurants in Waikiki with the BEST view of the landscape and the Friday night fireworks too. Everything on the menu is outstanding and one cannot go wrong. For such a large restaurant, it feels quite intimate and with great service - it's just a perfect evening with friends, special occasion or just a nice evening out. Bon Appetite!
View was great, atmosphere and live music was awesome. Only thing was the food was not all that great and the service was slow.
Our food was delicious, service great and enjoyed the fireworks from our table!
if your a local don't go!
My husband and I went there to have some pupus and drinks before our dinner with the kids. We were greeted when we arrived and also seated fast. There were LOTS of open tables. I asked the hostess if we could have a window seat. She said it was all reserved, we understood. Then they sat us in this little corner seat, super uncomfortable because there were so so so so many open seats around us. Our waitress was ok, not the friendliness. Our waitress did tell us the special and was knowledge about the menu. We order the (3) strawberry mimosa and this blueberry drink on the menu, the blueberry drink was horrible! The worst drink ever. Then we order the oysters ( a dozen), the best yet!!! Shrimp cocktail which was dry. Then the escargot also amazing. Then the tables around us were still open except for two of them. Our bill was about $120 for pupus and drink we tipped 30% just to make a statement that some locals can afford to enjoy a fine dinning experience. I hope the waitress will treat the next local customer with a much better experience.

Our waitress was on top of her "game." We felt like royalty. We were given Top Notch quality service and will definitely be going back. We made reservations and as soon as we walked in we were seated.
It was our wedding anniversary and we were treated royally. From the moment we got off the elevator until we left was magical, The service, food, wine, and wonderful staff make this our favorite restaurant on Oahu. With a 360 degree view, it's almost impossible to beat. Sarento's always has and continues to make each visit very special.
Outstanding view of fireworks in Waikiki
Pricey dining, but well worth the experience, ambience, view of fireworks. Great wine list as well.
We enjoyed our dinner and the view was lovely. The only thing that we did find annoying was the photographer that was doing the wedding in the private room beside us was always in front and beside our table and taking a lot of pictures. All we heard all evening was the shutter on his camera.
5:30 Sunset Reservations for Dinner
Made reservations 2 weeks ahead of time for a dinner, sunset view table for my wife and I and made it clear it was our honeymoon, and despite being the first ones into the restaurant, I was not seated at the ideal location, despite the restaurant being 90% empty. - Ambiance is nice, its a fancier place, but for the value of what you pay, do not expect to be full from a single order of food. -Service is excellent, the waiter and staff were very polite and professional. - Average cost for 2 persons: $110-$130. ( minimum ) -If your staying in the Ilikai Hotel, I would recommend eating elsewhere as you are already accustom to the view from the property and its not as impressive and advertised, if you are not a guest at the hotel, it is a beautiful view of downtown Honolulu to your right, and the yacht club and beach entry to your left. Nice place, food was decent. Its a nice fancy, type place with small servings, and could be romantic if reserved correctly, but if you are hungry and want good food for the value then there are many other good eats in Waikiki area. Thanks

Old school American style restaurant. Excellent martini's. Osso Bucco to die for. Awesome jazz combo & spectacular views. Highly recommended!
Sarentos at sunset
We had great dinner watching the sunset. The food was excellent and the service was tops. I highly recommend Sarentos. We will visit again.
Wagu beef was tasty but could have been more tender. Ahi tuna was seared properly and very tasty with rice. Joey was a very courteous server and checked with us a few times He asked if we needed anything and was very personable.

Not a bad seat in this restaurant if you go during the day to see out of windows! Dinner was great and service was very organized. The food was on a set menu for Valentine's Day so made choosing easy. Will come back again.
Valentine day and amazing views!
I have to give it up to them, I had a reservation on another popular location that was booked one month prior valentine day, i went to the first place and service was horrible, and I though in a night like valentine day where Im going to find a romantic place with open table and Sorentos did their best to get me a table with only 20 minutes notice, to me that earns them the best rating from me.
Mood was not romantic
Maybe it was the night before Valentines Day, Didn`t feel romantic and the food came out real late and it wasn`t that busy
Nice for an occasion
Great view, great food but lamb was pretty bland. Good wines and superb service.
wonderful in Waikiki
We were looking for a pre-Valentine fine dining spot. We traditionally go to Sarento's at least once during a visit to Oahu. We have been many times before and it never fails to please, but this time was arguably the best. We got there at 5:45 since the restaurant is at the top of the Ilikai and has spectacular views. The glass elevator to the top is not air conditioned so the incredible view of the marina and setting sun was made at about 85 degrees or more. We were seated facing Diamond Head and had a brilliant ocean view. Ordered cocktails and was surprised to learn they didn't have a blender to make a Strawberry Daiquiri, Waitress said they crushed the ice and if I didn't like it, she'd bring me something else. She was right, it was delicious. We decided on the Asparagus appetizer. Oddest combo we had ever heard about-- Grilled pizza dough base with a bed of salad greens tossed in olive oil with prosciutto, grilled asparagus topped with a poached egg and freshly grated cheese. BEST THING WE EVER ATE! Every bite perfect. For entrees we had eggplant cannelloni and double cut pork chops. Canelloni was very tasty, but not on a par with the appetizer. Double cut chop was excellent, perfectly cooked with a wonderful sauce and a side of goat cheese mashed potatoes. The stars were the Brussels sprouts. We HATE Brusssels sprouts, and we finished everyone. WIth 3 cocktails and an appetizer, snd tw3o entrees, we came in at under $100 excluding the tip. We will be back,
The glass elevator to the top as the sun was setting was the big highlight. Menu fairly limited and expensive.
Best View in Waikiki
I had heard great things about Sarento's from a few people but had never experienced it. I had plans to go out earlier in the evening around sunset but I had to work late so I was trying to find something last minute. I decided to check out Sarento's to see if there might be a reservation available around 8pm. To my surprise they had openings. When we got there they had piano music playing and the ambience was very romantic. They sat us in a back area with a window view in a very romantic booth for two where we could sit together and be close to each other. The view was amazing of the Waikiki beach area and all of the hotels that line the coast. During the day this view would be even better, but for being late we were not complaining at all. When the food arrived it was amazing, I had the Shrimp and Pasta, and my date had the Double Pork Chop. Both of them were to die for. The pork was so tender and juicy it didn't even taste like a normal pork chop that we had ever had. The garlic mashed potatoes with goat cheese was also delicious and it didn't have an overly strong taste of the goat chees that we thought it might before ordering. The service was very attentive, but not overly attentive as we were relaxing and having a very romantic dinner. When we got up to leave we noticed we were the only ones still in the whole restaurant, overall the dinner lasted about 2 hours, and it was a great place to sit and have some great drinks and even better food all while listening to smooth piano playing in the background. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a nice upscale romantic dinner with a loved one.
Table with Ocean View
We enjoyed a fabulous table with a panoramic ocean view. Food was wonderful. Good wine list. Great for a special occasion.
"Top of Ilikai" Must try!
It was a last minute decision to try Sarentos as it was within walking distance of the hotel we were staying at. First off, riding on the glass elevator at sunset, looking at Ala Moana and Waikiki was great. Greeted by friendly hostesses and sat at a table overlooking the city with ocean views was a great start. Our server Joe was excellent! Very professional yet friendly and informative. The bus boy was also very friendly (he just started a few months ago but was excellent.) We started off with Ahi Bruschetta, Caesar Salad and Oysters which were delicious to start. We ordered Lobster Paella which had shrimp, squid & scallop on risotto and Australian Rack of Lamp on Okinawan Sweet Potatoes. Good side servings for both entrees and we ended it with mango sorbet w/strawberries and vanilla bean panna cotta with raspberries. Both were delicious. All in all we had a great meal with great service and great atmosphere!
First, let me say that the view from this restaurant is beautiful and worth seeing! However, the rest of my experience was much less worthy. To start, our party of three was seated in a booth that probably was meant for two people because the middle had a hard, uneven joint which was very uncomfortable. Moving to one side or the other resulted in crowding up to another person or feeling like I was sitting slanted. Since this was a special occasion, I chose not to make a big deal about this and just made the best of it. Next, we were given the menu and thought, okay, this looks good. I ordered the Sarento's Caesar salad to start and the Eggplant Parmesan Canneloni for my entree. The salad's dressing was more like ranch than a traditional Caesar type but, still, the lettuce was good which made it an edible salad! However, when my entree came, it looked like it had been left under the broiler a bit too long...the sauce was dried on the plate and the pasta was crispy. Again, not wanting to make trouble I tried it, and truth be told, found that the crispy pasta was the best part of the dish!! The eggplant "filling" for the cannelloni was barely cooked and crunchy with no flavor. There was no discernible cheese or binder in this filling which was a bit unusual I thought, but who am I to question a fine dining establishment with their recipe choices?? I'm not sure if this was a failure in execution or if this was just a bad recipe for a "fine" dining restaurant. Well, needless to say, I am very disappointed.

Stunning views and great food. Requested table on the glass, and was accommodated. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Always enjoy the Friday night fireworks at Sarento's and the food more than the show. The veal milanese was just outstanding, and of course, the best spagetti & meatballs (filet mignon) anywhere. Osso Bucco was fabulous as was the wine and appetizer oyters with ahi & truffle oil. Service was terrific - attentive, but, not 'too.' And our friends from out-of-town were happy as were we. You can never go wrong at Sarento's...great food, great service & a view that can't be beat.

The food, envoronment and service are really great!
A fairly formal circular high-floor view restaurant which does not rotate but views are interesting in all directions. Pianist adds to the lounge feel. I found business types and romantic couples, expert service and beautifully prepared dishes. Italian with oriental emphasis.
Good but needs better food
The place could have been perfect. The food needs some variety and better quality. Staff, ambience and view was great.
