About Sapphire Grill
One of the city's most consistently stylish restaurants evokes a low-key, counterculture bistro, but its cuisine is grander and more cutting-edge than its industrial-looking decor and its level of hipness would imply. Wrapped in warm brick and cool steel, the Sapphire Grill has steeped itself in a history of fine culinary tradition. Christopher Nason is the owner and the most talked about chef of the moment in Savannah, preparing what he defines as a "coastal cuisine" based on seafood hauled in on the day of its preparation from nearby waters. From seasonal chanterelles and oregon black truffles, to the most tender cuts of meat and delicate seafood, Chef Nason and his team work feverishly to keep Sapphire at the mark expected of her.

Sapphire Grill Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful staff very knowledgable exquisite food
A must dine in Savannah superb food and wine. Great ambience wonderful staff!
Palette enhancement education
We have been coming here from out of town for many years and several times bringing large groups to experience the expansion of all our palettes as only Chris can do. We almost always get the tasting menu with paired wines and share bites around the table. Simply incredible! He more than lives up to the name Sapphire with the colorful presentations uniquely designed to please the eye and all the senses. He just gets better each visit with exquisite attention to color, taste and especially detail. It has always been a mountain top experience even tho we have enjoyed the rich experience of many top chefs in the southeast and the best Savannah has to offer. The staff, both long term and new are quietly efficient, anticipating needs, quick to respond to questions, particularly about the variety of tastes in each presentation and responding to special requests. Come, study the art adorning the walls, dare to expand your palette. As he once said, "Food is my mistress."

Amazing service, even better food
They made a very special 3 course meal for my vegetarian wife. I had an amazing perfectly cooked steak, topped with braised ox tail.

I have dined here for over 10 years. It is consistently good. Great atmosphere, very good service, food is always delicious, and cocktails are wonderful! It never disappoints. We have had two large catered events there also and they were both exceptionally well done.
I have always liked Sapphire Grill but was disapointed this time. It was ok
Nice evening at Sapphire Grill
My wife and I enjoyed a very nice evening at Sapphire Grill. Presentation quality and food quality were exceptional. Service was knowledgable and informed. My wife was served a very delectable looking swordfish steak which she assured me was delicious and I was excited to find soft shelled crab offered as an evening special. They have great craft cocktails here too. Recommended.
If you like large portions of meat, this is the place! My wife's steak was 16 ounces and my duck was 12 ounces, both very tasty.
Food was just okay and not inspired.

Great food for foodies. Very pleasant ambiance. Staff is warm and friendly. A special place in Savannah.
A wonderful visit to the Sapphire Grill to meet a dear friend for dinner. The tuna mignon is irresistible and perfect; dessert was a peanut butter/chocolate fantasy, and our server was fantastic. FABULOUS place to dine. Highly recommend it.
A bit too pricey.
Mostly seafood offering. Short menu list. Wine list pricey
We recently ate at the Sapphire Grill in Savannah, SC. We had the crab cakes, grouper, and bouillabaisse for our meal. All were expertly prepared and served. They have an interesting twist on their menu: you may order from a list of meats and fish, with a selection of available of sauces. I'm sure that you may not even see that offering as it was difficult to narrow our meal selection from the terrific options on the menu. The restaurant has two floors (yes, elevator service is available). We ate upstairs which was quiet and lovely. Thanks for a great meal!
After researching a romantic dinner site to celebrate a special occasion in Savannah, several sources cited this as the go-to spot. Our appetizers (caesar salad and crab cakes) were good, and the entrees were fair. The tuna was overdone, and the grouper was fried...but wasn't indicated as fried on the menu (sapphire GRILL). Perhaps the choices weren't good, but we won't return.

Sapphire grill was highly rated. But it was sad to walk into a restaurant with the sign out front not on, the awning down (I wasn't sure we were in the right place) and the interior really 'tired'. We had very good service, and half of the entrees were good, half not. Good scallops, good swordfish, the duck was swimming in demi glace and root vegetables were sparse. My friends chicken, sounded good in the menue, but quite flavorless. Most of all, it is way overpriced. $37 and up for entrees that are just good is too high. And nothing on the wine list for under $44. (well, not much) They either need to up their game and meet the prices, or lower prices. The ambience was poor. Tired blue couches, worn floors, etc.

Excellent food. Great menu, Great service. One of our favorite restaurants in Savannah. Somewhat on pricey side but you get what you paid for and you don't leave disappointed. Looking forward to our next trip to Savannah

Very disappointing. The server recommended the calamari. It was tough and the coating was gummy. When we told the server she just said that was unusual. Nothing else. My wife had the black grouper entrée but they were out of grouper so they substituted halibut. I had the tuna. Both we're supposed to be specialties of the house. The chef appears to like dipping sauces which seems kind of old-fashioned. The soy based sauce was really all you tasted when you dipped the fish in it. For entrées that approached $40 each I thought the dishes were unremarkable and the plating was average. Not sure why this restaurant was so highly rated. We will not be back.
One of the Best!!
This is one of the best restaurants in Savannah. It all started with David calling to verify our reservation a few hours before we were to arrive. We did not eat one of the meals, though they all looked amazing. We chose to sample a few of the appetizers and specialty drinks. The food was phenomenal and as locals we will definitely be back!
The food was outstanding, service impeccable. I would recommend Sapphires to anyone looking for a great dining experience.
Great place in Savannah.
This was a repeat visit for us and it confirmed our initial impression. This is a great place - food, service, bar, staff, etc.
Quiet hidden spot
This restaurant was recommended by AAA. Quaint, quiet, lovely little spot in Savannah. The staff was very attentive and the food really great. I would definitely hit this spot again when I return to Savannah.

Everything was excellent from the time we walked in the door. The food was cooked perfectly, and the atmosphere was so relaxed. The chef owner came by our table to see how we liked our meal and later sent a special dessert to our two birthday guests. The gentleman who seated us was great fun, friendly and polite. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
It was a lovely restaurant for my birthday celebration! They even wrote Happy Birthday on my dessert. Great menu!
Never fails to Deliver
This is our go to place when we want a great meal and night out. Highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice but relaxing experience. Outstanding!
Ambitious Menu that hits the mark
Many restaurants have interesting and ambitious menus, only to have the actual food be disappointing. That is not true at Sapphire Grill, where the chef is more than up to the task on his appetizers and main dishes. Our waiter was a true professional waiter and helped us make informed decisions on the dishes and appropriate cooking temperatures. The desserts were a little disappointing in that they were good, but they weren't up to the same standard as the earlier parts of the menu. There was a longish wait between our appetizer and main dishes, but since we were with friends, the 2+ hour mean time gave us lots of time to catch up with them. This was only the second time we'd eaten there, but I know we'll be back again.

Food, Service, all of it was memorable. Non touristy and off the beaten path; but yet located within a few blocks of River St. Not a cheap date, but a great experience.
Shappire Grill... Fabulous dining experience ! Easily accommodated my dietary restrictions! A must try...the white truffle butter on grilled salmon! Great wine choices! Creme Brûlée was the perfect ending in this restaurant "GEM"!!!

Had been a while since we had been to Sapphire Grill. Food and service were outstanding. A little loud due to a large party upstairs, but overall a great experience. We won't wait so long to return!

This was our first experience 12th Anniversary Dinner dining at the Sapphire Grill. It was very pleasant, wonderful service and food was excellent. We ordered the first-Caesar salad and the main- Benne Encrusted Blackened Grouper. And for Dessert we enjoyed the Seasonal Berry Cobbler with Creme Gelato. And were surprised with a Happy Anniversary plates scrolled in Chocolate with 2 Chocolate Covered Strawberries. All in all absolutely delicious and we will enjoy going back again.

Service started a little slow, but improved to very, very good as dinner progressed. We liked our cocktails very much, and our wine with dinner was excellent. Liked our shared mussels appetizer a lot, loved our grouper entrees, and greatly enjoyed our shared dessert. It was a very nice Valentine's dinner (a day early). We'll certainly return again.
35th Wedding Anniversary
We had a wonderful evening:) Our table was upstairs in a corner, which was quiet and romantic. The food and service were outstanding. We would go back in a heartbeat!!!
Great food and service
Sapphire Grill offers a great selection of dishes. The pecan encrusted grouper with sweet soy sauce was excellent as was the wahoo with mustard sauce. The multi-berry cobbler with lemon gelato and the creme brûlée with fresh fruit was the perfect end to a great meal. The service was great. All employees were very friendly. Highly recommend for a special occasion or just a evening meal.

1st time but not the last,
we had a group of 6 - everything was just great from the food to the service. Nice place. Will return for sure.
Creative Delicious Fun
Extremely creative dishes but not straying from deliciousness! Upscale eatery without pretentiousness. Wait staff lovely and attentive but downtempo. Many locals know the value of this gem, look forward to my next adventure!
