Salty Sow - Cactus Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant is close to us. The food was great and not expensive, but the service was quite slow, it took nearly half an hour for our entrees!
We have been there many times. This time it just seemed the food was overly salted, to the point of almost sending it back. I didn't though, because we didn't want to wait any longer. We both ordered salads, not aware that the dinners came with them. I feel the server should have toold us they came with salad so we didn't have 2 salads to try to eat. Tina
Highly dependable, never a bad experience
We have been to Salty sow many times both with friends and family. Everyone has invariably been pleased. The food is fresh and well prepared and always very tasty. The Mon. and Tues. all night happy hour is a bonus and the food specials are very worthwhile both for taste and value. If they were to open an outpost in N Scottsdale, I would be thrilled.
Unique menu items
This place was AWESOME! Our waiter was the best (did not hover but also made sure we were well taken care of), the food was terrific, and the menu had some of the most unique items I have seen anywhere. The prices were great! The bone marrow appetizer was so much better than I ever thought it would be. We will definitely be back!
This was my second experience at Salty Sow... I recommended going back for a birthday celebration. Unknown to me, my son is friends with the Executive Chef. I wanted to return simply for the pork belly tacos as they were amazing on my first visit. Brady came out to meet us and served us some wonderful food. My son decided to order his entree on the Chef's recommendation, and he was not disappointed!! The bone-in rib eye with mushrooms was awesome! We tried five different appetizers, and all were delicious. I highly recommend the stuffed mushrooms, green tomatoes, and most of all the pork belly tacos! Service was outstanding, and we will return first chance we get... if for nothing else for the tacos!!
Prime Rib special
Prime Rib special tough, fatty, and pricey. Good Servce, but not worth a revisit.
Food = Fantastic/Acoustics = not so much
Everything we ordered in our group of 5 was fantastic! The service and knowledge of the staff were top notch. The place was impeccably clean and had a great visual atmosphere! Our only disappointment was the noise level due to acoustics. If it was a bar, we would get it, but all of us agreed (and we are young) feel that the noise was way to loud for a half empty restaurant.
A pleasant surprise
Our dentist's favorite place. We tried it and went back for more. Got lucky the second time: a Sunday night which is porchetta night. It was as good as I've ever had. We will return many times.

Overall a great restaurant. Excellent decor, superb service and food with reasonable prices. Probably the best overall restaurant in the area that I have experienced.
Loved this place!!! Food was amazing... We did not enjoy having dinner with dogs on the patio, very inappropriate for dinner/dining. I personally would leave my dog at home so not to bother others.
Great Sunday Brunch
I really enjoyed the fried chicken on the Sunday Brunch Buffet and feel it's worth a return visit just for the fried chicken. It might have been the best boneless white meat fried chicken I ever had and was crunchy, sweet and sticky and very flavorful. It was great. They have all kinds of other things too like a meat craving station, rainbow trout, beet and goat cheese salad, porchetta, eggs, grits, prime rib hash, brussels sprouts caesar and more. I liked the build your own bloody mary. They offer indoor and outdoor seating with a dog friendly patio.

Food was great and outside patio was nice. Service was lacking as the waiter was not very attentive. We had to ask two other servers to get is refills on our water. Otherwise we really enjoyed to atmosphere and food.
We had a great evening at the Salty Sow. The food and drinks were great and we can't wait to go back!!

Great brunch because the food is wonderful and not the typical brunch food although you can get that also. Green chili pork, honey fried chicken, deep fried green tomatoes, cauliflower casserole, banana chocolate french toast are just SOME of the awesome items. Service was on top of everything. Restaurant is inviting and spacious. Great value. Plenty of parking.
A So-So Easter Brunch
There were 4 of us in our party and our reservation was for 10:30. We were a bit surprised that a number of brunch items listed on the brunch menu weren't even being offered. Having reviewed the brunch menu online before making my reservation, it was one of the reasons we selected the Salty Sow. Needless to say, we were disappointed. Some of the items they did offer they seemed to have a difficult time keeping the plate full on the buffet. Such as fried green tomatoes. The 1 slice I had was delicious but I never got another one after that because every time I went back up there was none there. The prime rib hash, I must say, was disgusting... neither I nor my brother could eat it. Eggs from the buffet were cold as was the asparagus. Overall, I wasa greatly disappointed and will probably not go back.
Salt of the Earth
Love Salty Sow. No matter what dish I get I love it. The servers are all very professional. Make sure it's on your restaurant list. You won't be disappointed.

Fabulous service with several delicious special choices to select.
The first time we went we had awesome service, the second time was only so-so. We love it here. It is a great patio and awesome food. The chorizo mushrooms are my favorite!

We wanted to try out a new restaurant and so pleased to have selected Salty Sow! The service was excellent; very knowledgeable server. The menu had a nice variety and everyone in our party of five was happy with their selection. The decor is both rustic and modern!

We love the Salty Sow! We first learned about it while visiting friends in Austin. The drinks are handcrafted and delicious. The menu offers a variety of wonderful dishes at a very decent price. The Salty Sow is not to be missed if you like food and drinks with fresh, delicious ingredients. Also, the ambience is warm and inviting.

Great chicken thighs
Best Sunday Brunch in the Phoenix area. Nice variety of choices, all of which are delicious.
So Many Choices!
As someone with celiac disease, I always cross my fingers and hold my breath for enough gluten free choices. The Salty Sow's GF menu was one of the most extensive I've ever seen, and it was actually difficult to choose from so many options! The food was amazing, and our server could not have been more pleasant and helpful. A wonderful experience!

Food was amazing. We ordered small bites. On Monday & Tuesday it is Happy Hour prices all night. The Farm Salad with pork belly, bacon, mushrooms, beets & poached egg was the best salad. Also had the pork belly hash & grilled asparagus; duck fat fries with egg; taco with pork; smoked trout. All were tasty. Farm Salad & pork taco were the stand outs. We also ordered a beer sampler & cocktails. They did not disappoint. Service was friendly and fairly quick given how busy they were. Great place. I would go back next time in Phoenix.
We were very pleased. Great menu selection, great food. The halibut was outstanding. We will be back!
Always a great choice
The food is delicious, the service is excellent, with the nicest, friendliest wait staff that you could meet!
Our family, who live in Scottsdale, brought us to eat at the Salty Sow and we were so happy that they did. Their starters are delicious with even better values during Happy Hour! They have an eclectic menu and everybody at our table enjoyed a wonderful dinner.
Salty Sow's Sunday Brunch is the best in the Phoenix area. It provides a nice variety of items offered in buffet style. All items are prepared in small batches and are very fresh and tasty.
Another great meal
The Salty Sow's happy hour is the best. Great food and drink for the cheap, same excellent service. Cannot recommend this place enough.

The food was very good, except the salad which had old greens and to be sent back.
Service was Lacking This Trip
We've had various levels of service on our many visits to this restaurant, but this visit we experienced barely adequate service. It was a long wait in between requests. I assume much of the problem stemmed from our server having to wait on a very large party at the same time as she was covering individual tables. Why can't managers manage how service is provided in such a situation? The Happy Hour items we ordered were as good as always - Truffled Deviled Eggs & Honey-dipped Chicken & Biscuit. It will be some time until we return again.
Salty Sow is a SWEET GEM!
Our first time here from a local's recommendation. FANTASTIC menu, great ambience, professional staff, super cool "house drinks" and local brews! The nightly specials are so wonderful, that some were sold out early, that tells you how good they are! We took 3 off the specials and 3 off the regular menu and 2 starters plus 2 salads. AMAZING! The have taken the time to blend flavors, smoke cheeses, meats, use creative rubs, and RESPECT food! Don't be put off by the location (Walmart shares the lot), this is a COOL spot! The playlist to be complimented..it hit all the right decades and the songs were re-mixed, updated classics. Salty Sow has thought it all out! GO, you won't be disappointed! Oh, and the prices, Friendly!!!!
The Sow is one of my all time favorite places to eat. However that makes the menu seem a bit stale to me right now. Not that the food is anything but great but the menu needs a few new dishes.
You MUST try the deviled eggs, brussel sprouts and chili verde, outstanding!
Comfort food and more
By far one of my favorite restaurants in the Valley. Food is so fresh, and so good; I haven't had one thing I didn't like. We often go for drinks and appetizers, there's so many great picks we end up eating apps as a meal. We were smart enough to finally try brunch, definitely adding the Sow to our first pick for Sunday mornings. All the food was great and we loved the Bloody Mary bar. If you like good old fashioned farm cooking this is the place. Ingredients you'll know, with a new twist.

Fantastic food. Fantastic drinks. Why don't I eat here more often???!!!!
Have been a few times. This time the server was disinterested, waited a long time for food. The fries were delicious, but the pork was way too salty. The chicken in the salad was so overcooked, it was inedible.
The Bloody Mary Bar is excellent! Stuffed olives, pickled asparagus, lots of special goodies and a good honest pour of Vodka. I loved the Fried Tomatoes with guacamole topping. I asked for a poached egg and they were able to supply a very nice one. My only disappointment was that the menu said that they had turkey, but that did not turn out to be the case. All in all, a very pleasant Sunday Brunch. I will go again.
Hearty, Heavy, and Creative
Good stuff all the way around. Very creative and well executed takes on southern food. Portions are generous and desserts are excellent. The kitchen is on its game and everything came out perfectly cooked. But wow, is it ever a heavy meal! Eat slow and bring a truck to haul home leftovers.
