Sakoon invites you to embark on an extraordinary culinary journey of India.
Nestled in downtown Mountain View, Sakoon offers diners a tantalizing blend of traditional and contemporary flavors representing multiple Indian regions. Our chefs have created dishes that borrow from the past, yet are reinvented anew with vibrancy and modern flair.
Named for the Indian word for "peace," Sakoon was designed to envelop diners in warmth and serenity. Upon entering the restaurant, you'll be greeted by the image of Buddha in hand-carved wooden panels, the glow from fiber-optic chandeliers, and the shimmer of a waterfall cascading into a pool of lotus petals.
We invite you to join us for an exquisite dining experience.

Sakoon Ratings and Reviews
Delightful Indian Food with Great Service
Our party of nine thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks. We asked our waiter to recommend dishes and he was responsive and knowledgable. Everything was delicious.
Sakoon is amazing and I recommend it.
We were here for a wedding lunch, and it was amazing as usual. I was the only one who had been here prior and the other guests in our party were very impressed with not only the food but the service too. Each and every server from the person bringing drinks to the manager stopped by to ensure that we had everything we needed. I've taken my corporate group here for lunch and each time not one thing was out of place. If you enjoy Indian cuisine, then there is no other restaurant in the Bay Area that can compare.
Upscale Indian Cuisine
Sakoon is an upscale Indian restaurant the appeals to a diverse clientele - couples, groups and many Indians. The decor is a little bollywood modern. The food is very good, with generous portions. We liked their tandoori chicken and meen molie. They have a nice selection of breads and rice, too. They have a full bar.
Great find.. will be back
Initial impression was that this place was not too popular but it was just because we got there early. It filled up with a lot of groups. Tried the Avocado Jhalmuri as appetizer, and it was quite unique and exceptional taste. The real star of the night was the Konkani fish curry. A truly memorable dish, which we all enjoyed. The fish was delicately roasted in coconut oil, and the curry sauce complemented it perfectly. I have to recreate this dish :) and will definitely recommend it to anyone.
Went here with a group of out-of-towners there were six of us and we had a memorable meal with outstanding service.. amazing desserts too! Our new local favorite 💜
Great Indian restaurant
Excellent service, tasty food with a large variety on the menu.
Very strange experience
We brought friends here for dinner and the service was really bad. A waiter delivered our food, set it up on a tray and didn't put it on the table. About 5 minutes later our waiter came over and set it on the table. It was now cold. We gave our waiter 2 credit cards when he brought the receipt. He put the total on one credit card and another similar total on the other. We called him over and he was able to focus on canceling those charges and putting half of the total bill on each credit card. It was Sunday night. Very odd.

We were there for a buffet lunch, everything was good. The chicken kabobs stood out though.

Not sure what's going on, but Sakoon's food is no longer finger licking good. The Chettinad chicken tasted more like butter chicken, the tandoori roti was badly burnt and their chicken biryani just about made the grade. $14 for a glass of sub-standard Pinot Noir... guess, another one bites the dust.

We had the kashmiri rogan josh. Excellent. Chicken Tikka was good. Samosas were ok. Aloo tikki was better. I would go back
Good go to Indian restaurant .
Very good vegetable dishes, although hardly any paneer as was described on the menu. The chicken murgh was just okay. The plain naan was warm and soft, but the roti was dry and overdone.
Terrible service: Did not honor our reservation
We got there at 8:30 pm, the time of our reservation with our whole party. We checked in with them and they said they should have a table ready in 2 minutes. We wait over 25 minutes and every time we asked, they kept saying it would be 2 minutes, and we heard that over 10 times. Instead, it would have been better if they had just told us that it would be 15-20 minutes. Anyway, after 25 minutes of waiting, we decided to go elsewhere. We tried to show our displeasure but they didn't even give us a proper apology and barely acknowledged that we were leaving. NEVER going back there again and would NEVER recommend it to others.
I always liked their food but for some reason, this time, food was not great.
The food was too pricy.
We have booked the table on valentines day. The cost of the buffet is 20$... Are you kidding me .. we have 2 ladies in our group.. They would hardly eat worth of 8 or 9 $.. And they have charged us 15$ extra as service charge and for 4 people all together it became 114 $$$........What ???????????? We have asked about 15 $ and then he told me that for people more than 6 table they charge so... Do you know we have 4 people and 1-3 year old kiddo and the other one is 1 year oldd... are you kidding me ??? Next time on wards count infants tooooo........ I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone.. Because no one can actually give justice to 20$....
Food good, but pricey
Had lunch there with seven friends. All of us thought the food was good. Some thought it was some of the best food at an Indian buffet they've had. Warm naan was served, which isn't always the case at Indian buffets. The service was good although after an hour, the manager or owner came to our table and bugged us to leave. They were busy, but still we are a group of friends who haven't seen one another for some time and I think it's reasonable to spend an hour or so chatting without being pressured to leave. Also, the buffet is kind of pricey, but my group thought it was worth it. I'd recommend the weekday buffet for people who want to eat good Indian food, vegetarian and meat choices, and get back to work. If you want to spend an hour or so chatting with friends, you're better off going somewhere else.
The tandori special platter and the tandori halibut are pretty good.
Monday night dinner
I was looking for a good indian restaurnt on Castro for dinner with one of my ex bosses. Sakoon came highly recomended and did not disappoint. Great food, the service was a little overly attentive but otherwise the ambience and noise levels were very conducive for a nice evening conversation.
Best Indian Buffet Ever
As always, the buffet was wonderful. Great variety of dishes, and a lot of vegetable dishes, which I love. Not just your average Indian buffet, but a really exceptional one.
Great Indian Restaurant
Great Indian restaurant. A large variety of Menu selections. Large portions of food. Excellent service. A bit pricey but it's worth it. Great for groups or special occasions.
Don't bother reserving
Reservation is useless here, had to wait 45 min after reservation time for a table!
It took almost 1 hr. to get the food. It was very cold inside. It seemed like air conditioning was on instead of heating . We told the waiter but he insisted that it's heating. It was 1st January. Waiter was very argumentative. Food was ok but service and attitude of waiter was very bad. We don't expect this kind of service in this kind of restaurant . Very disappointed.
So-so for dinner
We had a family dinner with 10 guests on what seemed like a busy Saturday evening at Sakoon. Our table was ready at the appointed time. We waited for 10-15 mins after being seated before the first waiter showed up at our table to ask for our drink orders. We ordered some appetizers, they were of varying quality and some (the Samosas for instance) were not good at all. We ordered the main course straightaway, but we waited for almost an an hour to get the food. When asked about the delay, the person manning the floor said that one of us was still working on the appetizer, so they decided to make the entire table wait. Hmm, not sure about that. The food itself was quite tasty. We ordered a couple of desserts to share- the kulfi was icy and not worth the $8 or $10. The other dessert was OK. Bottomline, the food is tasty, but the service is not what you would call attentive especially for the prices charged.
We came for a nostalgic and delicious Christmas dinner and got it. Lovely service. We were very lucky!

Frequent diner here. Always a great weekly buffet and the weekend one was even better. Have had a la carte meals here as well. Bit pricey then but well worth it.

We went here based on the reviews and were not disappointed. The food was delicious and the service was top notch. There was a group of guys upstairs who were watching a game, so it was a bit noisy...but we got there at 5:45 and ordered before they showed up, so we got our food quickly. This is more of a "splurge" dinner...a bit expensive, but the food was wonderful...
The buffet has an awesome array of interesting dishes, which are replenished frequently so that everything is always fresh. It contains many favorites as well as new treats.
Awful service culminating in a whole beer being poured over my husband with barely an apology
We loved everything about Sakoon! We enjoyed all our dishes!
Great lunch buffet
Excellent options for both veg and non-veg and the serving dishes were constantly being refilled. Not the same five North Indian dishes you see everywhere. Even though I'm not a huge ras malai fan, happy to see three options for dessert. I went back to work feeling like I had been on a mini vacation.
Good dining experience. Better meat than veg
Overall a good dining experience. Service was prompt and very on the top. Drinks were average. I ordered 'the Guru', it was okay, not bad but not mind blowing either. The meat dishes were really good, chicken appetizer was tender and moist and flavorful so was chicken chettinad. Chicken dum biryani was very flavorful, not too spicy like most Indian restaurants, just delicately spiced. I wish I could say the same about the vegetarian dishes. Hara Bhara Kabab was bland and gobi manchurian felt like it was blanched cauliflower coated with tomato sauce. Phool makhana was rich and delicately spiced, very flavorful but paneer peshawari was little too bland for my taste. Daal makhani was good though. Overall it was a good dining experience.
Great Indian Restaurant in Castro
Great Service New Cook hence our favorite regular food tasted different.
Always you will enjoy this place no matter how many times you come and this has some real goo dmenu
Good food. Nice spices. Loved the out front seating
Service level has gone down...
I have been a regular visitor to Sakoon over the past several years and that too, I bring my clients and have important company meetings at Sakoon, because the food, Service and Ambience was always good. It appears that after they have opened the Fremont branch, the Service level at Castro has gone down significantly. Couple of examples on my recent visit: (a) Wine list has bottle names, but they are not available (i.e., no longer sell them -- can't they update their menu?), it took 20 minutes to get initial drinks, almost 45 minutes to get appetizers, the worst of it was desert (all of them premade) took 45 minutes to come. Yes, I don't like pushy waiters, but it used to be the case that waiters were available quickly if you needed them. While this has been degrading over the past three visits, yesterday's visit, I had to talk several other staff to get the attention to my waiters and even after that he would not come in. Yesterday, was I had my team for anniversary dinner and a guest of honor, so it was six of us. For the poorest service, it was a forced service charge of 18%!!!! I think I will stop recommending this place to other folks and in fact my negative feelings will be echoed as experienced.
The table arrangement on the 2nd floor was horrible
Not what I expected. Won't be back.
Not what I expected. Won't be back.
I totally recommend the lunch buffett. Great way to have a variety of food that you can choose from. We went for dinner and it was good but I prefer the lunch buffet.

We ordered recommendations provided by our server (a fish curry and dal) as well as a potato and pea stuffed kulcha (bread) and an avocado jhalmuri app. The fish curry was very good. The rest was merely ok. And over priced. We ordered cocktails as well and they were so significantly "watered down" that I wonder if they were "virgin." The decor has a modern flair but feels cheap. Half the mood lighting in the dining area was non functional. The server was friendly and helpful. I understand food cost and the ratios restaurants must achieve to insure their success, but I honestly felt taken. The location in downtown Mountain View is hard to fault. Overall, I think there are better choices.
Go n Grab Awesome Indian Food
Mouth watering food, amazing taste... Specially Paani Poori, Kheer, Kadhai Panner & Roasted Mushroon
Railway Station Reservation
We had booked table for 11 at 8:30 on Saturday night. I had booked through Open Table and then called them to confirm as well. We were seated at 9:15 and all this time manager kept saying we booked through web and he doesn't have control over web bookings. Situation at reception was chaotic. It reminded me of pre-computerized era at the railway station. We should have left, but we had some senior citizens and it was not feasible to look for another place at that time. They had six reservations at 8:30 ranging from 4 to 11 people. They couldn't accommodate any of them till 9 PM. For most quality of food was outstanding. However I found cauliflower in chili chicken.
