Saint Jacques French Cuisine Ratings and Reviews
The Taste of Paris
I went to St. Jacques for lunch with a friend and had the best meal I've had in Raleigh, NC, while feeling that I was miles and miles away in Paris, France. We started with the most perfect fois gras that I have had since Paris. It was smooth and delicious with a marvelous apple-mango chutney, delicious warm bread, and a beautiful presentation. The Coquilles St. Jacques was so fresh and flavorful and served beautifully in a scallop shell with light breading and a smooth savory sauce. I had a fabulous vol-au-vent of creamy shrimp and lobster sauce. The pastry was done just right and it was served with a very tasty root vegetable side. Homemade peach ice cream and an extraordinary sorbet with grapefruit and thyme completed a most pleasant experience. The background music was lovely and so relaxing. I love the warmth and welcome feel of the restaurant once you are inside. French chef, Serge, is a delight and has made this a must go place for an exquisite dining adventure. Don't miss St. Jacques in Raleigh!
The food was a little pricey but it is worth it for many many reasons. There are so many different flavors built into your meal. The taste does not get old. Every bite you take still has an exploding amount of flavor in your mouth. The homemade bread is also the same way. It is not noisy at all. Due to this being a fancy restaurant, no parents want to bring rowdy little children here to ruins other customers' experience. The whole staff is amazing. Even if a staff member isn't "your" waiter or waitress, they will still smile at you and make you feel welcomed. The look on your date's face after you leave is the best part about it too. When you pay for your meal, you aren't paying for tasty, fancy food. You pay for the experience of a lifetime. From the moment you step through the door to the moment you go to sleep that night, you will not regret that you chose this place to bring your date. If you want to have a night you won't forget, this is the go to restaurant.

Simply one of the best dining experiences I've had in Raleigh that rivals anywhere I've been. Top notch from top to bottom. Absolutely delicious is every way and impeccable service while still being relaxed. Loved it. Will be back.
I took my huaband there for his birthday.
Each course we ordered was amazing. Always a pleasure to dine at an establishment that caters to their guest. What a treat. We will be coming back soon.
A surprising gem in an unlikely location
Always EXCELLENT food and service. Fun for lunch and GREAT for dinner -- but be sure to make a reservation for evenings!
Classic french dishes
Great food; sommelier was friendly and helpful. They were full the evening we were there, so it could be our server was distracted; she was very friendly and could have been more attentive but our experience was positive overall.
Great experience at Saint Jacques French Cuisine
My wife and I have been looking for a good French restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. I read a few reviews and picked Saint Jacques. We were skeptical of he location in a shopping center... but were not disappointed in the experience. The staff were welcoming and attentive without being over bearing. I especially liked that we were not hurried through our meal. We were able to take our time and relax between courses. The food was very good. My wife had the Scottish salmon and I had the short ribs as well as the muscles for the hot appetizer. both dishes were excellent and well prepared. We will definitely be back for more.
Exceptional food and service.
St. Jacques is an excellent French restaurant with superb food and service. From start to finish all five of us experienced a meal that was exceptional on every level. The wait staff deserve special mention. They are attentive without being intrusive, very pleasant and accommodating, and very professional. My guests and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Highly recommend.
Service was terrific and the food was spectacular.
Had an excellent dining experience. Felt like we were in France. Very authentic. The staff was outstanding.
Great French Food
Been to this restaurant a number of times over the last several years. We go for special occasions. The food is great and the service is excellent.

We'll be back-- great anniversary dinner!
Less than medium food with a Manhattan price tag
Non of the dished stood up as a quality option, it was very disappointing experience that cost like a mortgage. The Onion soup was cold, the fish was mediocre and the chocolate dessert was a poor choice and felt like a Hershey bar. The service was also at a chain restaurant level and far from an average French restaurant. Do not waste your money.
True French Cuisine in Raleigh
Excellent all the way around. Food, ambiance, service was top notch. Definitely a must try spot. Guys definitely use this one for that special lady.
We were almost at the end of a very stressful work week and needed a break. We wanted to go to a place that would truly take care of us. That place is Saint Jacques. We sat in the side room where it's nice and quiet. The food was wonderful as was the wine. Our waiter did a great job with explaining the various choices on the menu. We had a wonderful evening that helped us to relax for a while. We'll be back, soon.
Another wonderful meal at St Jacques
We had been regulars and then hadn't been able to dine at St Jacques for nearly a year. We returned to entertain friends and all four of us had a great meal. We loved the escargot, the salmon, the steak at poirve and the scallops. And my husband loves the Belgian beer, Duvel, that we don't see anywhere else in the area. Thanks for another wonderful dining experience.
We love it!
My husband took me to celebrate my birthday. We had a lovely time. It was excellent
My party was very disappointed with the food. The mixed drinks, coffee, and cheese plate were excellent but the braised short rib entree was sadly disappointing. With the exception of the sauce, it tasted like roast beef cooked in a crockpot. The polenta and onion soubise were so unpalatable, we could not eat them. The waitress and the manager did try to correct the situation by offering to bring us something else and brought a small sampling of chocolate desserts. The manager and servers were very professional with the exception of our waitress. Although polite, she was overly chatty, addressed me as "darlin" and seemed too familiar for an elegant french restaurant.
VIVE LA FRANCE
It was our first dinner at the St-Jacques. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, the sommelier knew his wine well and his recommendation was great. Great for special occasions or a romantic dinner. The prices are high but the value is there so go for it.
By far the Best in State
Great old style French Restaurant. The service is GREAT!!! The food is EXCELLENT!!! It is expensive and well worth it.
Great food, great service, great experience for a special occasion!
Now THIS is French food.
Arrived on Wednesday evening to a less than half full restaurant, but atmosphere was inviting. Food was absolutely delicious. Fois gras was outstanding, as were the sweetbreads ( appetizer portion was plenty big). Split the coques saint jaques (3). Onion soup and salmon. Wait staff responsive. Would definitely return.
Disappointed with our dinning experience
We made a reservation for Saint Jacques as our last nice dinner out as a family of two before our first child arrive because it received such great reviews. The menu options sounded delicious on paper and they had my favorite dessert listed as well. I will start by saying the service and staff are impeccable!! We ordered the mussels, goat cheese gratine, french onion soup, sea bass, and wagu beef - as well as the chocolate ball and creme brulee for dessert. The goat cheese gratine was over cooked and the piece of toast the cheese was on was stale and almost too hard to cut through. The french onion soup was sweet, which isn't my preference but perhaps other people enjoy that. The sea bass was terrible - was over-cooked and the broth that it was served in was bland, almost like it was just sitting in warm water with some vegetables. The wagu beef wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. The butter it was served with was very salty, the potato it came with was disgusting and for 42 dollars we received maybe 2 oz of okay meat. After the sub-par dinner I was looking forward to dessert as I LOVE creme Brulee and I order it whenever I can when out to dinner. However when dessert arrived it was terrible, it wasn't creamy, or warm...it was chalky and lumpy - sooooo disappointing. The saving point was the chocolate ball which was tasty - then again if you can't make a melted ball of dark chocolate taste good I'm not sure you should have a restaurant. All in all we were looking forward to a really good dinner but instead ended up paying $200 for a meal we could have gotten at a buffet line. At least we had good company in each other.
Valentine's Day dinner
We really like St. Jacques and decided to make this our Valentine's dinner. We had a nice quiet table in the back corner. Wait staff was knowledgeable and attentive. Plate presentation could have been a bit more appealing at this price point and I'd like to see a larger selection on the menu, but the food was very good and the wine the sommelier chose was a tasty gamay that went very well with our meal. Would certainly go back.
Early Valentine's Dinner
St Jacques is one of a few restaurants we dine at for special occasions. We never have a bad meal. Tonight's meal was not quite up to the restaurant's normally high standards. The service was not as professional as we have come to expect and it was very slow although there were several empty tables. I started with the onion soup which was excellent and my wife a garden salad which was crisp and fresh. After a long wait our main courses (filet and salmon) were not served piping hot which was disappointing. The filet portion was very small but was as tender and tasty as I've had in a restaurant. We ordered an apple tart and crème brulee for desert. The deserts took even longer to be served than our main courses. We were close to cancelling our order when they finally arrived at our table. The apple tart was exceptional - the apples fresh and served warm with caramel sauce. The crème brulee was pretty average even though it came highly recommended by our server
Prefect for a Special Valentine
The warm ambient lighting, cozy tables, and soft classical music wafting through the air makes this a beautiful, quiet, and romantic setting for a special dinner with a special someone. The meal itself was amazing, with wonderful portion sizes and a fantastic wine list to complement anything on their menu. The chef's between-course palette cleansers were delicious little bites of creativity. And the after dinner desserts and coffee were the perfect way to finish off a magical evening. My personal favorite was the classic crème brulee. All in all, the best dining experience I've ever had on a special occasion.
This restaurant is a hidden gem.
We enjoyed a very lovely meal -- the food was excellent and the atmosphere was romantic.

A very special place! Perfect dining experience with great food and wine! Lamb carpaccio with bleu cheese ice cream, Foie gras with white truffle-black pepper ice cream! Rack of lamb with spicy vanilla yams and the beef special were also amazing! For dessert- the Frozen Goat Cheese Soufflé and Study in chocolate are the way to go! Best restaurant in the area, hands down. Thanks for the great time!
Awesome as usual
Danny went over and above in meeting our needs. Food was awesome as well.
What a disappointment!
The food was delicious, the service was better than adequate (our waiter was not good but the rest of the service staff was very nice) everything else about the experience was lacking. I specifically asked for a quiet table away from the kitchen and we were seated at the table closest to the kitchen despite obvious availability elsewhere. When I enquired about moving I got an IHOP response - "that is not in your server's area". Far too loud in that location. The decor and ambiance are not up to par with the cuisine. I can get past the strip mall location, but you better go over the top to overcome that initial sense of cheapness, and St. Jacque did not. All in all, not worth the money. I will not go back unless they move to a better location or at least update and redesign the restaurant to justify the expense.
My husband and I had lunch there this week. Very nice service overall and a great lunch but expensive. The best mushroom soup I have ever tasted!
Great food, great service and great ambiance! The salted focaccia was incredible and the sea bass was amazing!
Excellent Dining Experience
The food was absolutely superb, and the wait staff were extremely attentive and professional. We will definitely be returning again and again.
Enjoyed this pleasureable dining experience ...
The cuisine was excellently prepared, the service was very good, and we had an outstanding table, so we'll go back. My fillet was as good as any I've had in the Triangle, cooked just right and very tender and tasty, and my friend really enjoyed her lamb entree and a side dish which included a brown truffle sauce. The staff were all very courteous and helpful. Our waitress was excellent. Only one minor issue prevented an overall outstanding rating, that was the excessive wait time for the check once we were ready to leave. But, generally, this dining experience was well worth the time and expense.

A Bit Disapoint
Saint Jacques is one of my favorite special occasion meals and was looking forward to it. I was a bit disappointed because the food wasn't quite up to what I have had in the past. I will go back another time, just to see if perhaps the new chief was having a bad night, then make my final judgment.

This is one of the most elegant restaurants in the Triangle. The cuisine is intricate; each dish a combination of flavors. The service is a team of waiters who are always available but never interrupt. This is a great place to impress your date and make yourself look sophisticated!
Fun experience, great service, very pricey
We had a lovely dinner at Saint Jacques - the service was attentive, but not intrusive. We were a little disappointed that almost no one there actually spoke French - including the head chef - as we hoped to get a little practice in. The appetizers were great, and the desserts were stellar. Our main courses were good, but nothing extraordinary. We had a great time and might go back sometime, but the final price tag of $360 for 4, including tip - with only glass of wine and everyone else drinking water - seemed extremely high, however.

Top-notch French cuisine and by far the best both my wife and I have had in Raleigh. Highly recommend it! Prices were definitely reasonable given the quality and experience as well.
