Rudy & Paco Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Good local eats
Rudy & Paco's is tucked away closer to town. Great food....a little loud and definitely get reservations. Was very busy but worth it.

The food is excellent and well presented. The service is top notch. A little on the high end of price but yu get what you pay for
Can't beat this restaurant for food quality and presentation. Awesome wine list. And Paco makes it perfect!
Great food, great experience as always.
Great food, great experience as always.
I was in a party of four on a weeknight. We were all so very disappointed in the food as we had had several outstanding recommendations from friends. The service was excellent and the wine list was very good. The fish was so overcooked I could not eat it in its entirety. Basically, three words sums this restaurant up - Overpriced, overrated, and overcooked.
Always the Perfect Place for a Business Lunch
Great food and great service is sure to impress your guests and business associates. Once you take them there, they will always want to return.

Food, Service was great. We were placed in a tight area with chairs backed up to each other which made for some uncomfortable & awkward moments
I have been here for lunch before and always found it superb. Decided to go there for my 1 year anniversary for dinner and it was a major disappointment. Husband's drink was wrong and he had to go to the bar to get it fixed. He ordered another drink before the entrees came out and we never got it (my Mojito was superb though). I had to ask for my water glass to be refilled after it sat empty for at least 10 minutes. Food was merely okay. Scallops were not cleaned properly and had sand still on them. Huge disappointment for the price and my expectations since I've never had a bad lunch there.

We go to Rudy & Paco's about every 2 months. We enjoyed a cocktail first along with the delicious plantains that they serve with a chimichurri sauce and pico diced tomatoes. We ordered the crab bisque. Our entrees were soft shell crab and sautéed shrimp. We enjoy the drive from our home in the Clear Lake area to Galveston just for a special outing. Right around sunset a retired veteran plays taps on a balcony across the street. It was a Wednesday night and on a whim we decided to go. I checked my open table app and we were able to get in within the hour. Do Not Do that on a Friday or Saturday. Reservations a must well in advance of the weekend. If you do the pop in and you are lucky you might be able to sit at the bar. This is a cozy high end restaurant.
Rudy & Paco's is a locally-owned small restaurant close to the Strand in Galveston. The service is impeccable (waiters coordinate delivery of drinks and food so no person is eating or drinking unless all are), the location is fabulous (across from a retired Marine who plays taps every evening at sunset), and the ambience is peaceful (no loud music). There were children there, but it is pricey for the overly selective tastes of some children. Visitors should try it at least once.

Enjoyed meeting Paco, wonderful servers. Chad was very attentive. Good choice of wines.
The service is impeccable. Cannot complain at all - can you say coordinated plate removal. We had a party of four. Four people came to remove our plates. The food is amazing. We ordered the seasonal halibut. It was terrific. The one thing I will say is that I have never paid that much for a meal before! Great service, great food, but for me it is a special occasion place only because of the prices. If you want service like that, I guess you have to pay for it!
from a foodie
I am a great fan of Rudy and Paco's and have to say that it is one of the best resturants in the whole country and indeed the food was quite adequate but only that. The previous times I have been there have been wonderful experiences and I could not ask for any better service but this evening the scallops were overdone and the fish dish my wife ordered was uninspired. Most worrisome, my wife is Gluten intolerant and the salad she ordered had wheat based croutons. This was after we had specifically ordered gluten free. we asked for another salad and what we got was the same salad with croutons removed but crumbs remaining. Usually they have bent over backwards to please even with food allergies but this evening was an exception. I plan to return but high expectations on this occasion were not rewarded
Best service and food ever!
Best dining experience even compared to some of the best rated restaurants in Vegas.

We come to Galveston often and never leave without dining at R&P. The food is consistently great (especially if you enjoy Snapper), along with the service. It competes with our seafood restaurants in Dallas. They also serve a nice Kettle One martini straight up!! 😉
Our favorite restaurant in Galveston!!
You can not go wrong by eating here. We go everytime we come to Galveston. You must book early or you will not be able to get in.
Always has been and always will be one of my favorite restaurants in G-Town since I "discovered" in 2003.

Small--definitely make reservations. Good service, absolutely delicious food: poblano soup, lobster tempura, scallops, side vegetables, chocolate mousse cake--all of it ranks at the top of my list!
We went on a Wednesday night and thought it would be dead downtown. Not so. Rudyand paco's was getting busy but the service was fantastic and my grouper was delicious and my wife's soft shell crab was perfect. They had my Wife's favorite Chardonnay and they even brought out a desert with a candle and sang happy bday to her.

The food was awesome. The steak melted in your mouth.
This restaurant was one of the best we have ever eaten at! The food was excellent and my husband had a very special 50th birthday celebration. Not only was the food outstanding, but our server Jordan was amazing! It is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion, or just a night out. We will definitely go back again!
First class 5 stars every time. Sitting at the Bar is our weekly treat. Perfect martinis everytime...we judge any other martini we ever get against the one we get at Paco's
Paco (the Owner) and his restaurant are the Best
It is rare to find an owner as invested in his restaurant as Paco. I saw him greeting guests (many by name), helping with seating, serving, etc. His attention to detail and the hiring of staff is very evident. The bone-in ribeye and the red snapper were amazing. If you think you have room, get the red snapper ceviche, wow. This is one of my top 3 restaurants in Texas, if not the U.S.
Never stop being WOWed here!
This has become our favorite restaurant on the island, and for good reason. Service, food, wine list, desserts, I just dont know where to start. I dont think I will ever tire of this menu. Caesar salad, lobster bisque, filet, scallops, bread pudding ......this place is the best!
We love this restaurant
Everything about this restaurant is great. We highly recommend. Friendly host, well trained staff and excellent food. Empanadas and Ceviche are wonderful as is chicken with pasta, parmesan crusted grouper tacos and red snapper encrusted in plantains with raspberry chipolte sauce.
We never miss a chance to dine here when in Galveston. Apparently, neither do most the people in Houston and Galveston. This place is hammered every night, and with good reason. Excellent food, impeccable service; what more could you ask?
Number One Galveston Restaurant
Number One without question, good food, service and atmosphere.
Like so many others--This is a favorite spot. We always get fresh seafood prepared perfectly. This time we had the grilled Alaskan Halibut with a lobster butter glaze-- delicious. Avocado salad was tasty. My husband had a seafood bisque and enjoyed that. Never have room for all that we would like to try!
Had a great dinner!
Had a great dinner!
Love it.......wish I could eat there every day
Rudy and Paco's is one of my favorite restaurants on the Island. Paco is a wonderful owner; he knows his patrons and visits with all of them while dining. The food is excellent; always fresh and tasty. The service is excellent too. It is becoming so popular that it is hard to get a table. I told Paco he needs to expand.
Great food and service!
Great food and service!
This place from the outside looks like a rundown old neighborhood bar. When you step inside prepare to be amazed with the most elegant 20-25 table restaurant that you will ever see. We came from Houston (which has many great restaurants) just to come eat at this place. We were celebrating our recent marriage, and we had Richard as our server. I have been in the hospitality business for over 12 years and Richard is probably the best server I have ever seen. He had great recommendations, he was super professional, and he knew that we were on a date so he wasn't hovering around the table like you get with some servers. He even stood out in front of the restaurant after I dropped my wife off to reserve a parking space for me. It was unreal. The best part of this restaurant is the way that they deliver the food and drinks. Not a single person is ever left awkwardly without an entree or a drink. Every dish and glass is delivered at the same time with precision from the entire waitstaff. It was an absolutly spectaculor experiance. Thanks Richard for great service, and thanks Paco for great food. We will be back.
We always love Rudy & Paco's!
We have been going to Rudy & Paco's for years and always love it. The food is first rate and the service impeccable. We also enjoy sitting at the bar if we just want a drink and light snack. From the minute you walk in the door and are greeted by Paco, you feel like you are with family.
We have heard great things about Rudy & Paco's for years, but had not dined there. My only regret after enjoying our meal was not having tried it long ago. From the moment we walked in, everything was perfect. The decor and ambiance were sophisticated, even elegant. Lighting is low, with dark wood wine bins around the dining room. We were immediately seated and a very pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive waitress assisted us with descriptions of menu items and recommendations. The three of us shared a mixed empanada appetizer which was delicious. We ordered a grilled red snapper, topped with shrimp over a cilantro cream sauce, a beef tenderloin and shrimp specialty. We can't wait to return.
The food and service were superb! The fried lobster appetizer was exceptionally good. I also enjoyed the lemon drop martini, hand shaken by the staff.
Not for the ordinary person
I booked this restaurant for my recent visit to Galveston . When we arrived the hostess asked did we not see the T&C's of our booking , that my husband's dress code wasn't acceptable, he was wearing shorts and a shirt and I was in jeans and a blouse, and to be honest I didn't , she said he couldn't come in because he was wearing shorts and did he want to go and get changed and return , we couldn't believe , but if this is their rules , well fair enough . We were going to leave when She asked did we want to sit at the bar, we thought ok, because this was a fairly quiet town on a Monday night and with not knowing where to go we accepted . We waited for the bar tender to come and say hello and offer us a drink. Eventually she came over to serve us (we should've known then that we weren't wanted). We got No help from her about anything on the menu or even the choice of wine . We ordered our wine and food , it arrived pretty promptly , but no friendliness . Food was just ok considering the price . We paid our bill and left . What is the difference between sitting at the bar and sitting at a table given this is a small restaurant anyhow? We should have left when we weren't wanted in the 1st place . Our money was as good as everyone else's sitting there.
Great for a night out!
Make resvervations early, Food was excellent with supurb serivce. We even had a visit from Paco himself serving food.

Perfect restaurant for a memorable celebration, or just to spoil yourself. Every detail of perfect service and food is consistent over the multiple times we have been there!
