Rosa Mexicano - Los Angeles Ratings and Reviews
I nice place for a special occasion or just a friendly get-together within the many places to visit in LA Live. Pleasant seating outdoors or indoors with great service.
Great restaurant but...
We love Rosa Mexicano for its tableside guacamole, unique sauces and delicious desserts. The drink options are always unique and tasty, and the ambiance is great for a night on the town. Absolutely the best dessert on the menu are the churros--delicious, soft, rich and full of flavor. I would also recommend the tres leches cake, which was out of this world. That said, I last came to this restaurant a few years ago and have noticed some unfortunate changes this time around. When I came a few years ago, the tableside guacamole and chips was served with two unique sauces--one a spicy-smoky red sauce and one a limey green sauce. This time, they were not served unless you requested them. This loss is particularly unfortunate because the sauces were memorable-- one of the restaurant's signature items. Churros also used to be served family-style with three sauces, and now are only served individually with two (the vanilla sauce is gone). Why get rid of family style? It's much more fun and is how Latinos eat. But the real tragedy is that the beloved menu option of the chamorro--basically a huge hunk of well-seasoned pork--is gone from the menu. That's too bad, because every family has that one big eater who needs a large portion size and doesn't cotton to the smaller but finer portions associated with top-flight restaurants. And I didn't see a tortillera making fresh tortillas--I somehow remember them being better, fresh and hot. While we figure these changes are associated with the restaurant's desire to keep prices affordable, what I'd recommend instead is to reduce the number of dishes. It looks like this has already been done, and it really did not feel like a loss. The minimalist dessert menu is proof that reducing the number of dishes can be done while offering something for everyone.

Upscale Mexican restaurant at LA Live
We were very impressed with the atmosphere, outstanding service and the wonderful food at Rosa Mexicano. This is a high end Mexican restaurant. The enchiladas were savory and the table side guacamole was delicious. The location is perfect for dinner before an event at Microsoft Theater or Staples Center. We had a reservation so we were seated right away.
Food not tasty
I usually don't write reviews but I thought I have to this time as the food was the most untasteful I have ever had. We had a party of 8 and not a single person liked their food. We had tortilla soup that tasted like water. No flavor whatsoever. Same goes with steak tacos, ceviche and enchiladas . The salsa tasted like it was from a can. We dined at the reastauranr number of times before and were very satisfied until now. Never going back.

The tableside guacamole was THE best! My margarita was yummy! It was a really busy night (Justin Beiber concert) but the service was great. Would like to see a more diverse menu but overall enjoyed the experience. Will be going back!
Fun restaurant with great food
The frozen margaritas, carnitas and guacamole were the best! Fun atmosphere, great service.
Excellent service. Excellent food. The Mahi Mahi tacos were great. The guacamole was excellent. Drinks were fantastic
Pomegranate Margaritas and Guacamole are a must
Rosa Mexicano offers the best rozen pomegranate margarita. Whether you rim it with sugar, salt or nothing at all, you will enjoy the flavor of this cocktail as well as its generous liquor content. I do not eat avocados, but my friends and family go to RM just for the guacamole made right at the table.
This was actually a great find. I was looking to book at the Palm and they were fully booked. This place was a last minute choice.
Get a reservation.
Nice but expensive. Great location for the LA Live Scene.
We usually go here before King and Laker games. The food and service is always great.
The food is consistent with other locations of Rosa Mexicano, however, our service was OUTSTANDING!!!!
As always great food!
As always great food!
It was our first time. The service was great. I walked in with my wife, we had a reservation, and we were seated right away. Our server Richie was outstanding. He asked if it was our first time, made recommendations and was very attentive. The restaurant was extremely busy as it was a Saturday night. But the service was quick and the food was delicious. Will definitely be back.

The guacamole made at our table and the guy who made it was great! But that's about it. The food was fine, the drinks were good but over priced, and the waiter we got was not pleasant.
We had a great dinner before the Kings vs. Flames. The service and food was great. A little pricey but we enjoyed the meal.
You've Got to get the Guacamole made Table-side!!
We were staying at a hotel near Rosa Mexicano and, based on a past experience at Rosa Mexicano in NYC, I suggested we eat here...I was craving the Guacamole. It didn't disappoint. We had drinks and dinner, very good Mexican fare, but the Guac was the star of the show. It's a little on the expensive side for guacamole but, in my opinion, it's worth it due to the freshness of the ingredients. My only wish is that it was bottomless at the price they charge!
Handy to the convention center; good for groups
I went twice in one week; the first time as a guest with a large group (about 70 people), the second as the organizer for a smaller group (14 people). The restaurant has a nice big pot of very good guacamole to set down every few feet along the table for sharing, with chips and salsa. The menu was good, not outstanding. Service was very good. The main restaurant was very noisy, so it was difficult to hear speeches in the separate room in which the large group gathered. The location is great; just steps from the JW Marriott, and a couple of blocks from the convention center.

Was a great place to go before a clippers game. Good food. And we even saw some of The Harlem Globetrotters there!
First time visitors
Nice scenery, good drinks, food is ok, but a bit pricey for average Mexican Food. Service is good. But not very welcoming at the door. That the only big fall back. I would try this again on a regular night.

Great quality food and drinks with very good attentive service.
Excellent food, good strong drinks a plus, waiters always attentive to make your dining experience more pleasant thank you Rosa Mexicano.........
I went to Rosa Mexicano for the first time last Saturday for Valentine's Day and it was a very nice experience... Quiet and romantic... The guacamole and the drinks are the best! Good service
At First I had a bad feeling, due to the bartender, but still remained and got seated. Our waitress and buss boy was awesome, they may our visit very pleasurable. And the food was amazing.

A poor imitation of the Rosa Mexicano restaurants in New York. Food and service not up to Rosa's standards. Manager was very helpful, but work needs to be done.
Good Alternative for L.A. Live
This is good alternative to some of the ridiculously priced places in the area. Solid and good Mexican food, plenty of room in the place and excellent service... No complaints
Solid Food and Great Location
Solid Mexican food with a great location in DTLA within LA Live.
Victor Frankie and Kerin were amazing!
I had a great time celebrating my birthday there. I already loved the place but the host and 2 waiters made my experience that much more. They were patient, engaging and very friendly!

I've had the pleasure of dining many times at all of the Rosa Mexicano restaurants in NY as well as this one in LA. For the first time we were so disappointed in the experience. Food was flavorless, cold and the service was slow during a rather quiet time in the day (4:30pm). Literally felt I was at a chain restaurant. What has happened? I so look forward to coming here whenever I am in LA. Not sure I would rush back. I'm sad.

Excellent service from every single person we encountered, bartender, waitress and busboys. Food and drinks on point! Thanks for a wonderful experience.
Amazing Drinks, and over all a great place to meet and catch up
We went to the restaurant during lunch time. There were not many tables, but the service was very slow. The restaurant participates in the LA restaurant week. They didn't offer the special menu for the restaurant week. When we asked about the special menu, the wateriest gave to us with an attitude.
Great spot before any event at LA Live/Staples!
Made a reservation for 6 people before a concert that was held at the Microsoft Theater. We were seated around the time of our reservation and when there's something going on at LA Live or Staples Center, it is really mandatory to make a reservation! The food was very good and their table side made guacamole was delicious! I'll definitely go there again the next time I have to make dinner plans in that area!
Great food, high priced quacamole
We went before a concert. We had reservations and got right in and to a very nice table for 4. We ordered a double quac and although good was hardly worth $26. That was a big topic of conversation for the night! The enchilada's suizas was very good.
Good pre game alternative.
Restaurant is close to Staples. Food and drinks are better and more affordable than what you will find inside. The bar was loud, but our server was great as was the food. We had a reservation, but you did not need one which is nice considering how hammered locations down there are on game day. We enjoyed Sangria, margaritas, guacamole and some tacos. All very good! Much better than we could have gotten in Staples. Worth a trip into downtown early.
Great place before going to theStaples Center
Food and service are great. Drinks a little pricey. We were worried that we would not be able to get our dinners before game time at the Staples Center because the place was very crowded. To our delight, the food arrived quickly and was VERY good. We will definitely make this a go-to spot for pre-game dinners.
