The brunch food was not very good. I've never had such thick quiche and the French toast was like cake.
Our family enjoyed a wonderful 4 course meal and each course was beautifully presented and tasted great! Desserts were a little disappointing, but everything else was fabulous.
Dinner was Delicious
Happy to say that our dinner was good after having a bad lunch experience here. A wonderful date night with my husband. There seemed to be a lot of couples dining. I ordered the 4 course tasting menu which I always enjoy. Started with a kale salad followed by pasta, then halibut for the main course. Had the almond cake for dessert which was just ok, a little dry. But good coffee to end.

Fresh delicious food on a beautiful Spring day! Always enjoy the seasonal menu and fresh flavors.
The Salmon Scramble is delightful.
The Salmon Scramble is delightfully abundant with smoked salmon. I substituted a side salad for the breakfast potatoes, I enjoyed the mixed greens and vegetables. The breakfast menu for lunch has intrigued me and it was all that I expected.
The beignet dessert is better than the beginets in New Orleans. Great dessert for a birthday.
Excellent Easter Brunch
The restaurant had a special Easter menu which featured so many tasty selections it was difficult to choose! The four of us all unanimously enjoyed our food. Either the kitchen or the staff was swamped. I noticed that some diners apparently chose to linger after eating so that may be why there was a delay by our server. Nonetheless, the food experience was fantastic!
Easter Brunch Tasty But Restaurant Crowded & Noisy
This was a new adventure for us and for the most part we enjoyed it. However, the tables were very crowded in (for max seating perhaps?) so that the aisles for the wait staff were rather narrow. The fixed Easter menu was somewhat limited with 2 fish dishes but only one egg dish that I can recall, and no quiche whatsoever. The noise level was very high, especially with children sprinkled throughout. The food was tasty, but I'd like to have a look at the regular menu to decide whether we'll visit Room 39 again. I'd say it's a great place for special occasions, but be prepared for snug and loud accommodations.
Wonderful evening out
My and I both ordered from the Four Course Tasting Menu. It was awesome to have a variety of food with smaller portions which provided the perfect opportunity to try several different menu options. Everything was delicious! We had great service and enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere.
Always a wonderful experience.

Plenty of room in your life for Room 39!
I used to frequent Room 39 when I lived at Mission Farms. It was a luxury to walk right downstairs to such a quaint, unique, friendly and delicious restaurant. I moved away for a couple of years and just recently moved back. I couldn't wait to dine at Room 39 again. WOW! It's been remodeled since I last visited. It has an even more open yet rustic ambiance. I love the addition of the farm table, raised up by tea cups! The cuisine was just as scrumptious as I had remembered, and the staff was welcoming and attentive. Room 39 is a jewel! I will continue to dine there and recommend this to others as a non-chain, top-notch, and most-delightful place to eat. Yum!
There was nothing special about our trip, except from the time we placed our order to the time it arrived to our table it took 55 minutes. The restaurant wasn't full, and even then we still had to send back undercooked items. When it came out finally everything was ok, nothing exceptional.
Manager needs some customer service refresher!
We had a very nice Sunday breakfast and our SERVER was delightful. Since my friend and I had not seen each other in awhile we enjoyed catching up . We both have 30 plus years in the restuarant business . Both of us Managers. We would never walk up to a table and say, " I'm going to need this chair" and in an angry , discusted tone, remove a customers purse and toss on their table then then shove chair at next table as to say we have worn out our welcome. We have worked many , many busy days at a very nice restaurant. NEVER would we have made a guest feel it's time for you to go , you have sat too long. We immediately decided since Kathy , the manager, was wanting us to move along , we did. Then she looked up at both of us with a nasty look , as maybe she was upset with us enjoying dining at her place of business just to long for her taste. We get we all don't have great days every day but without some customer service, people will think twice about returning . For us, we will not! Thanks Kathy!!!
We want to like this restaurant as in the past....
But just can't be impressed anymore. Very nice decor update since we were there last, and service seemed to be better, but unfortunately food has not been brought back up to previous standards of a couple of years ago. There was nothing new or innovative and they really need a new pastry chef- all three deserts were not impressive at all (especially the almond cake - much akin to styrofoam). Will still do breakfast there, possibly lunch, and even though the tasting menu isn't too expensive, the quality isn't there and everyone leaves hungry.
Get the Tasting Menu!
We visited last Saturday with out of town guests, and overall we had an enjoyable experience. We all did the tasting menu-which is such a great value-and allows you to try lots of things! The portions are much larger than what you might expect from a tasting menu. With that said, I felt like some of the courses/dishes were hit or miss. Some we really loved (the pork chop, the lobster gnocchi, the arugula salad, the cheese plate, and of course the goat cheese beignets!), and others were more meh (mushroom mezzelune, the risotto, the quail, and the devil's food cake). They were also out of the wine we selected and the halibut, however the cocktails were amazing!! Our server was fine. We appreciate a waiter that is more energetic and confident in their choices, but ours did a fine job. We'll definitely be back-and we'll definitely order from the tasting menu again!
Love this place more every time
My husband and I eat here every year for our anniversary and look forward to it every time. We had our rehearsal dinner at Room 39 and loved it so it holds a special place in our hearts to begin with, but it blows us away still. Our drinks, salads, and entrees were all delicious and we will continue to dine here as often as we can. I can't say enough about this place. Every time, I think the menu sounds just okay, the food comes out and it tastes amazing. Love it more every time!
Pretty good brunch experience
I had heard good things about their brunch, but really wasn't overly impressed. Our waitress wasn't able to keep our water glasses full. If she was running around and busy, then I would understand, but she was just hanging out behind the bar. I had to wave her down each time. She also left our bill at our table and I had to flag someone else down to take care of it. Maybe it was the end of her shift? Food was okay, not very warm when arriving at our table. I won't be in any hurry to come back. I will mention the hostesses were very nice when entering and leaving the restaurant.
Sat at the bar prior to our table being ready. The bartender was great, mad an awesome moscow mule. Our waitress, however, was not attentive. We sat at our table 30 minutes prior to her taking our drink order. Waited another 30 for her to take our food order. I guess it was a good thing we were not in a hurry. Eventually another waitress took over serving us. I have been to this location before and the service was great, I was disappointed.

We go here approx. 3 times/month. Have never been disappointed. Much better than traveling down to the KU area.

One of my favorite places for lunch or Brunch. Friendly staff and always fresh food
Great for weekday morning meetings
We selected Room 39 in Leawood because it was the only "nice" (e.g., not Panera or Corner Bakery) place to have a breakfast meeting. They were great. Good service and spacious tables for food & paperwork. Some food selections had much larger portion sizes than others. e.g., frittata and french toast were large portions. Avocado toast was relatively quite small. But all were delicious!
The food is always great. Very fresh! Biscuits and gravy are amazing
Valentine's Day breakfast
We adore this place and were excited to go back for Valentines Day. Food was excellent and fresh as always! We were a little disappointed as they have been willing to make beignets for us in the morning if we call ahead...they were unable to do it this time since they didn't have any of the batter available. We will still be back as this is one of our favorite gems in Kansas City.
Will go back for brunch, not dinner.
We've had some fabulous brunch meals at Room 39. This dinner was a let down. The restaurant was crowded and I think the kitchen might have been understaffed. We had a party of eight. My husband's pork chop was stone cold. He didn't send it back because we had been there awhile and one member of our group was not feeling well. I checked with the others later and two loved their meal, the rest had issues with temp and taste. The scallops were not worth the price. Three very small scallops. For their size and the price there should have been at least five. I would definitely go back for brunch or just sit at the bar and order appetizers.

Had the four course tasting menu. Excellent food and fairly priced. I liked that the restaurant wasn't loud. I wish the server had been a bit more attentive, but we loved it and we will be back.
I will return!
Very nice people, the staff was eager to be helpful. The food was great and even though the restaurant full the food came promptly . I will definetly be returning.
Not for me
Room 39 was a fine place to eat, but for the value (especially on Restaurant Week) I wouldn't return. The food, while tasty, was of small portion and over priced. I'm sure there are many people in OP with the money to go spend $50 on a meal without question, but I am not. If you are looking for great food with great portions at a reasonable price, I would recommend this place. On top of that, our server was unfriendly, slow to serve and didn't make the experience special. I believe part of this treatment was because my girlfriend and I are only in our mid 20s.
Disappointed this time
My wife and I have eaten at room 39 on a number of occasions--always leaving feeling that everything was superlative. Not so this time. The frittata which I've ordered many times before was overcooked and a bit rubbery. The "virgin mary" seemed diluted. It was "restaurant week" and I know the staff was exhausted with the pace of the past few days. So we will be back to room 39. We appreciate that there is breakfast there 7 days a week. Also there are a couple on the wait staff whom we've gotten connected with.
The trout was excellent.

Tried the Restaurant Week lunch menu on a Sunday. Nothing special to write home about. My friend wasn't impressed with the service but I thought it was above average. The best part of my dining experience was the Bacon Bloody Mary - instant happiness!

We did have a reservation which was a good thing even on a bitter cold Sunday morning. I liked that we arrived 30 minutes early for the reserved time, but they seated us and waited on us anyway. Everything we ordered was perfect. I had the avocado toast with poached eggs. Delicious! Perfect poached eggs. Little surprise tangy goat cheese under the avocado. I am a tea drinker but ordered chai instead -- it was okay, but saw they have real teapots & tea so will get that next time; the coffee drinkers had endless refills which is also nice. Big cups too. Friends ordered a split order of the steak and eggs which they happily divided for them and it looked really delicious. They did not share! Husband had biscuits & gravy with these wonderful roasted potatoes -- very yummy. Will go back!

Our waitress was very friendly and the food was outstanding. We met some family here for a late breakfast and will definitely come back. The beignets were fantastic with cappuccinos and fresh squeezed (!) OJ. Favorites were Steak and Eggs Benedict and Croque Madame. It's a little hard to get to, since there is not an exit for Mission Road on I-435. Use your GPS and give this place a try!
Based on the web and advertising we were expecting a wonderful dining experience. That was not the case. While the food was good; it was not great. The wine pours were undersized for the glass and a volumetric carafe was not provided. The prices on the food and wine were as noted on the menu. Aside the Calamari, the quality of the food, which was on par with a neighborhood bar theme chain (eg: TGI’s or Applebee’s) at best, was not representative of the pricing,. We were celebrating a special occasion (not advertised to the server) and we were seeking a “culinary delight” – we left disappointed and we will not be back.

Overall a delightful experience but we were very disappointed with the small portion size of the desserts for the price charged.
As usual, everything was wonderful.
We had a wonderful lunch and enjoyed the ambience. The service was very good and the servers were all cheerful and made us feel as if they were truly glad we were there.
Good and Different
I would like to go back for dinner sometime as I was not excited over their lunch menu (mainly sandwiches and salads), however my trout was deliciously prepared and moderately priced (only entree on lunch menu ). Thought the side salad was overpriced. Not sure if our waitress was new but thought she could have been better informed on menu items and service technics and procedures. I was with a group of 6 and were there for quite a while and were not pushed to leave. I will definitely go back as I know the food is fresh and 'Good and Different' and I like that.
Absolutely perfect brunch!
Not our first time, and it certainly won't be our last!
