Ringside is our neighborhood hangout and a classic old time Portland steakhouse. Leave the chains aside and make the trip uptown for an authentic experience.
Great high class service and excellent food!
Ringside never fails. The service is excellent and the food is awesome! The lobster tail was enormous and cooked perfectly, and the prime rib was too! Even the baked potato was spot on.
SO MUCH FUN
We had Karen as our server and she remembered us from last December. Great time, great food, great fun. very impressive.

Steven was great. I asked about an item that was no longer listed on the menu, chicken livers, and he was able to get them for me. Thank you Steven and kitchen staff. Our meal was awesome!
Ringside never disappoints. The onion rings are super yummy and the wedge salad is too. Then, the steak and sides are delicious. Everything is good. I wish I could afford to go more often.
Only thing that was average was vegetable medley.
Outstanding 40th birthday dinner for our son. Waiter Scott was excellent.
Steak was top notch as always. I recommend trying the beet salad it is amazing!
The Ringside doesn't really need my review. Pretty much defines old-school and hasn't gone downhill.
$75 steak had no flavor. SeaBass was like trout.
$75 steak had no flavor. Ordered Sea Bass but it was more like Trout. When asked, they brought out a receipt from their fish market. The receipt didn't show it as Sea Bass either. The plate was covered in grease and food didn't have much of flavor either. Recommending Onion Rings and desserts.

Everything was great, but the two tables in the rear were so loud that I could not hear anything my wife said or the server. This is not the way it used to be. Very sad; we hope for a better experience next time. WLD
Not so good
Sadlythis timeour foodwas notso good:( The fillet mignon was dried and no flavor to it, our Cesar salad was drenched inway too much dressing so the lettuce was no longer crisp, but it took so long to come that we decidedto not say anything and just eat and go home Pretty disappointed with the dinner that night, we were on a date and ended speding over $200 for a dinner that was just not worth it
The experience was incredible. Went there for my one year anniversary with my gentleman, I knew what the prices were like but it was a complete shock to my boyfriend so I wanted to treat him. I got a $60 fillet minion atop garlic mashed potatoes with lobster on top.. and never before have I had a steak literally melt in my mouth. Complimentary parking service was a big hit to my boyfriend. Will absolutely be dining there again.
Great for special occasions
The Ringside is a great place for a quiet special evening out with that special someone. The onion rings are something iconic as an appetizer. The steaks are always magnificent. Parking in the neighborhood can be an issue, so I would recommend using the valet service.
Gristly tenderloins. At $65 a person. Avoid this place.
Once again, GREAT lobster!!!
Food and service is always very good! It's a great place to meet friends and enjoy a wonderful meal. Thank you!
Excellent steak dinner
The dining experience at the Ringside was fabulous. The waiter was polite, professional and attentive. The food was divine and the steak was out of this world.
Ringside scores again
If you want consistently well-prepared meat and gracious old-school service staff, Ringside is your place. Be prepared to pay though, top shelf ain't cheap.
Excellent food...outstanding service!!!
We went to Ringside as part of the Portland Dining Month experience. The food was incredible, the service was impeccable and the ambiance was terrific. Our waiter, Wayne, who has spent twenty years there was outstanding. His professionalism, wit and humor added to the delight of the evening,
Dining month favorite
We enjoyed 5 different restaurants in Portland's March dining month. Ringside was our favorite for food and service. We were not rushed or encouraged to order from the regular menu. This happened in some of the other restaurants we tried. The food was plentiful and delicious, attractively presented, and it seemed like the staff was proud of their establishment. We would go back again.
Not Your Typical Portland Restaurant
Dining at the Ringside was an excellent experience. How nice it was to be in a comfortable environment where you could relax and enjoy yourself. The service, the food and the ambience are all fantastic. It was a real treat.

We were celebrating a milestone birthday. Ringside did not disappoint. The steaks were excellent and the french onion soup was outstanding. Perfect birthday evening.
Great food and service once again!
This place does not disappoint if you want great service and a delicious and decadent meal!

It was a little darker inside than I expected but that didn't bother me that much. Food was great - the mashed potatoes was strangely different than what I usually had but I still really liked it. Would recommend if you want a quiet and romantic dinner.
Best steak house in Portland
As always the whole dinner was amazing. I had prime rib with lobster yukon gold mashed potatoes.
My husband and I were visiting from out of town and was beyond satisfied with this establishment. The staff was very friendly, professional and informative. The food was amazing & cooked perfectly. I would highly recommend to any of my friends!

This is an old school restaurant trying to look special when in fact the tableware is cheap, the servers don't even know their cheeses and the food is mediocre. Portland is filled with very good restaurants. Go there, not to this dinosaur.
Comfort and style...
We really enjoyed our last meal. I started with a Manhattan while my wife sipped a glass of Oregon pinot noir. Then, we tore into the onion ring appetizer. For our entrees, I had an aged rib steak, cooked to perfect medium rare. My wife had a filet mignon. For dessert, we split a creme brulee. You want classic steakhouse? Look no further. The Ringside fills the bill.
Great place to go!
Our experience, our meal and our waiter, Collin were Great! We will be back !

My boyfriend and I went here for the Portland dining month menu and everything was perfect. The baked onion soup was tasty. It was a huuuuge portion and we also got sourdough bread with garlic and butter smothered all over it to dip in the soup! I was basically full after the appetizer, but then we had steak and potatoes with zuchinni as the main dish and I kept eating because it was delish hahah. Desert was a custard of some sort and also fabulous. The best part of the meal was the bottle of wine we got (twenty rows 2013 cab sav from Napa valley). It was so good we are going to hunt down another bottle of that stuff. The wine was a perfect combo with our meal so we had happy bellies by the end of the night. Service was also fantastic. I highly recommend this place especially for the dining month deal because otherwise it's pretty pricey.
Anniversary dinner was perfect
After 36 wedding anniversary dinners at the London Grill, we chose the Ringside as our alternative when they closed. We have been very happy with our decision and found the experience this year (our 39th) to be excellent . The service was superb (thanks, Wayne!) and the food was fantastic. This is "Portland traditional" at its best; a reminder of what really makes for a memorable dining experience. We'll be back for our 40th next year!
Portland First Timer
We decided to visit Portland and although the city is known for excellent food, we wanted to experience a fancy night out also. I ordered the Filet 8 oz and my husband ordered the Prime Rib. The prime rib blew my filet out of the water, not to say mine wasn't great, but that wow-that prime rib delivered some major flavor! We also had their carrot cake for desert, while it wasn't what we were expecting (traditional), it was absolutely delicious. It was light, not overly sweet, and the perfect way to end the meal. I'm a little sad I won't be able to make this a regular visit, but we certainly enjoyed it while we were there.
The best service start to finish..and I'm fussy!
from the crab cakes in the bar (some of the best i've had, even in Baltimore) with great service from Kelsie to a fantastic filet and amazing service from Dave, it was a super night. gotta say that I would definitely stick with the meats over the fish...but you can't go wrong.
We went there for March dinining month special. The portion was very impressive and server was very nice and service was excellent, too. Also their dining month special main menu was steak unlike other steak restaurant's other options. The dessert was excellent, too. Overall the special was great value. Our family of four had great time. We want to try other menus next times.
Great place to eat for a special occasion or any time you want to enjoy Fine Dining
4 of us in our party- everything we ordered was amazing! French onion soup was the best I've ever had! Can't go wrong with any of the steaks!
ok, but nothing to write home about
nice restaurant, very friendly service, the meat is ok, but not that extraordinary. wine prices are MUCH too high ! I prefer Capital Grille in any ways
Our favorite place to eat when in Portla ...
Our favorite place to eat when in Portland, but this time the $55.00 prime rib eye was way overcooked, not medium rare. Next time, I'll have the Prime Rib, it's always great. Other than this, it's a very good place to celebrate a special event, like our anniversary last Saturday.
Classic and Consistant
Have been going to the Ringside for many years and always enjoy it. Our server/sommelier Robert added the cherry on top to our dinner. A bit loud in the "barrel room" but nice to be around others enjoying a special dinner.

The first item I have to mention is the filet medallions, because they are amazing!! One is topped with a blue cheese and the other is wrapped in prosciutto. We often order the same items, however everything we have had had been fantastic. We were lucky enough to get Robert as our server again and he is our absolute favorite. His wine knowledge is amazing and he will always recommend and an amazing bottle. Last night we had a newer bottle they had just added which was the Plumpjack Syrah and it was fantastic, I highly recommend it.
