Restaurant Martin Ratings and Reviews
Restaurant Martin Dining
Waiter was very good, no complaint. Wine list looked very good but not updated properly: Vintage year on list but not available but inferior year vintage offered at the same better vintage year price - misleading and unprofessional. Food menu also looked good but kitchen did not deliver: taste of the main entrees (meat) was ordinary, at best. One of the sides on one of the 2 entrees was very poor if not uneatable. Other points: not white table cloth dining but the same expense, tableware more of a reflection of the kitchen's ego not the consumer: no butter knife, knife has an unstable balance which means it falls on its side if not position just so, one of the plates had uneven sides which created an unacceptable platform for knife or fork. Probably just an off night but do not expect to return any time soon.
Great meal. Would definitely come back
Great meal. Would definitely come back
No Chef Martin in situ
Duck confit appetizer held promise from description, though was rather tasteless. I stopped eating at 8 forkfuls.
top chef contender
Excellent food, small restaurant without feeling cramped or on top of other diners. Pricey but not over the top expensive.
Wonderful Birthday Dinner!
Another wonderful dining experience at Restaurant Martin! Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. He recommended the Lamb Ribeye and it was fabulous! The two bottles of wine that he recommended were great too! My husband had the chicken and it was excellent. Overall a great night of dining!
Great and innovative food
The food at dinner was so good that we came back for lunch (which has a different menu) the following day!
I have always had great meals here; and the service is always impeccable. My favorite in Santa Fe when I want a special meal.
Food is good. vegetarian plate needs improvement
The "vegetarian plate" seems like an afterthought. Steamed spinach, roasted carrots, a very dull black bean soup, etc.
Martín is usually very good, but we hit an off night. Seared grouper tasted as though it was not very fresh. Soup, as usual, was very good. It can be very noisy, depending on whom you are seated near. There is nothing to muffle sound: no curtains, carpeting, tablecloths, etc.

Large portions, exciting flavors. I had the chef's vegetable tasting (which changes nightly) and was fantastic. Save room for deserts!
I can see why Martin is a James Beard nominee
Excellent food, intimate location and great service. The appetizers were unique and exceptional, and the entrees were fantastic. Service was attentive without being obtrusive. Good value for the quality of the food. We'll be back.
Delicious food. Quiet and great service. Loved the lack of noise. Could actually hear each others' conversations.
Enjoyed Everyting As Usual!
Restaurant Martin is right next door to the El Farolito B&S, where we stay every time we visit Santa Fe. Easy to just walk over & enjoy a lovely evening. Wonderful, creative & unique, wouldn't miss stopping in!
Okay, but try elsewhere first.
I try not to be a naysayer and so I won't just down the place entirely, however, as a food person, I would not say this is worth the price paid at all. We ordered the lamb and duck, which were both fine meat wise, but each came with an enormous amount of rice or some sort of grain (barley) that was like undercooked and far too much for the plate. Overall the taste was lacking. We had the mac and cheese as well, which was quite bland. Dessert was the chocolate torte, which was pretty good but not amazing. The wine list was notable though. My feeling leaving the restaurant was that I was robbed. I felt I way way overpaid for the meal. I think this place is riding reputation at this point, as it was quite empty and left me feeling unsatisfied. I had many other good meals in Santa Fe I would recommend over Restaurant Martin. Based on the promotional piece on the table for this book and purchasing server neck ties, it appears that Chef Martin is more concerned with making money off what was than what is at the moment.
Excelant with Casual Elegance
After a long day driving north we were happy to receive a text from a friend who recommended this chef and his creative cooking. I liked the ambiance the minute we walked in, quiet not crowded middle of the week and other diners looked engaged and happy. After a chance to order wine our waiter offered the specials of the evening and spent time with the chef to be sure the dish my husband chose was dairy free. After sharing the Prawn appetizer we knew we had chosen the right kitchen. My husband had the Braised shoulder rib eye of lamb and I selected the Roasted Duck. Each dish was a delight to the eyes and palate, so much so we also shared the Chocolate cake for desert. This was an exceptional dining experience and we will definitely return.
NM Restaurant Week
Spent entire week indulging ourselves during NM Restaurant Week here in Santa Fe, and Restaurant Martin was our last pick. We'd never been there before, but what a way to end! Was the best of the best as far as we're concerned, and we'll be sure to return.
Best thing besides the food food
What I was so happy to see: people at every table were enjoying one another, the food, and talking, NOT glued to their phones. It was the way it should be. Delightful.

We had a delightful evening The wait staff were welcoming and the food was outstanding .
Restaurant Martin is one of Santa Fe's relatively unknown gems. The Canyon Road restaurants get a huge amount of press and have a reputation for high end dining. In my opinion this reputation is generally undeserved. Restaurant Martin, on the other hand, is high quality dining of the caliber you would find in Manhattan or Chicago. I would recommend this restaurant over any on Canyon Road.
Nice presentation, range of flavors
Friday night Santa Fe Restaurant Week dinner was at Martins. Starters included Squash Bisque and Duck Cavateli with entrees as Steak and Chicken followed by Anjou Pear Cake and Chocolate Torte. The chicken was tender, juicy, and flavorful while the steak was a bit over-cooked; enjoyed the mushrooms and veggies accompanying the mains. Attention to place setting needed and service a bit slow with full tables. Nice selection of wines. Hostess greeted many regulars, often by name.
Excellent food and service!
My husband and I ate at Restaurant Martin during Restaurant Week and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. We had always seen good reviews of the chef but hadn't tried it yet. Looking at the regular menu, their every day prices are reasonable as well. I enjoyed the vegetarian plate - very creative and delicious. My husband had steak, which was prepared to his liking. The wine list is comprehensive. Really enjoyed ourselves!
First time visiting, very nice
We visited during Restaurant Week so were able to try several dishes. The duck confit appetizer was "to die for." It would make a fabulous entree. The vegetarian entree was average, would not order it again. Flank steak entree, the best flank steak I've ever tasted: could almost cut it with a fork it was so tender. Two different desserts: both wonderful. The dark chocolate cake is a must for chocolate lovers. Our service could not have been better. Ambiance is nice. We will return!
Great & classy in all ways--esp. presentation.
We have gone to Restaurant Martin over the years and it is always good food, great presentation and good service. It is also creative. And Restaurant Week this year they had quality wine that was affordable to accompany the food--a nice touch.

Special place with great food to celebrate anniversary
I have to admit it was a little creepy at first. But shortly turn into one of the best meals and experience I've ever had in Santa Fe!!!
Always tasty, but recent dishes over complicated
Since its opening, Restaurant Martin has consistently been one of our favorites in our home of Santa Fe--straightforward, fresh, foodie-quality, with beautiful presentation on elegant white dishes. We were disappointed this Valentine's day to find the dishes overly complicated by showy trends like multiple pickles and "sea foam" (we call it spittle). Even the special dessert plate--which should have been a purposeful composition--was more of a hodge-podge of flavors. Plus, the visual presentation seemed degraded by the introduction of folksy Japanese ceramic dishware--though the stoneware pieces are gorgeous on their own, they compete with (rather than show off) the food. Martin, we loved you! Please return to your roots--go back to simple perfection!

Always have a great meal here..excellent service.
The food was delicious, the setting beautiful, and the special Valentine's dessert for two was absolutely phenomenal-- but what really stood out for us was the quality of the service. It was honestly spectacular.
Quiet & Lovely
Should you be looking for fine dining experience Martin's offers food most inviting to the palate....if you are vegan or gluten free - no dessert for you :-) A little weak on the dessert menu..... It's a quiet atmosphere, very simple. The servings are adequate....Don't expect much in the salad department.....Appetizer choices are excellent....Main course - a good variety.....all in all should you be looking for delicious food, Martin's is the place to go......parking is limited.
A return visit. Chinese noodle salad and fish and chips were very good. The outdoor seating in season is lovely. Parking can be a problem. Their own lot only holds a few cars and the nearby lot is part of the municipal complex.
Food is Amazing!! It's a food experience to dine here every time I've gone. Each dish is so interesting and flavors blend beautifully. Highly recommended from a local

The lunch menu was sadly pedestrian (the single intriguing entrée- an English pea risotto was unavailable) but everything was tasty and attractive nonetheless.
The whole package. The food and service is always among the best in a city noted for superior dining experiences. Desserts even come with a spatula so you do t miss anything. A must visit whenever I'm in Santa Fe.

Great service and really great food. I would recommend to anyone looking for a special meal in Santa Fr.
We have lived in Sfe over 20 years and eat out frequently. This was our first time at Martin's for a holiday dinner. Let me start by giving them credit -the food is very good. However, for this very pricey holiday dinner ($110 per person plus drinks) we expected more. We were seated in a cold detached room very separate from the main restaurant. The garage door (yes, there is one) kept banging and cold air was blowing in on us. The music was too low to hear, fake candles on the tables, no table cloths, and overall a blah ambiance. It just felt like we were eating cafeteria-style in a big open room with very little effort put into making the space feel special. So....disappointed was the ultimate feeling for us.
Inside and Outside
We have dined on Café Martin's lovely patio during the summer months, but this was our first time inside. The atmosphere was lovely, calm and quieter than most Santa Fe restaurants. The steak was delicious, though a little tough. Otherwise the meal -- oysters, several desserts among us -- was wonderful. The bonus is that the chef and his wife are major contributors to The Horse Shelter, a fabulous place where horses are rehabilitated and adopted.
Had lunch at Restauant Martin with a friend. The service was terrific and the food fabulous. We had a great time catching up for the holidays. This is one of the best restaurant in Santa Fe!
Our family enjoyed a nice meal but the wine list was depleted but overall we had a nice meal.
Best brunch in Santa Fe
Truly the best quality food and options for brunch (don't miss for lunch and dinner) but their brunch is a hidden gem. Followed by fantastic service front of house and back....
We dined on Christmas evening - lovely!
Chef Martin was a busy chef on Christmas, however everything that came to our table was simply perfect and delicious with that special touch you always enjoy there. The fresh and locally sourced ingredients are at the forefront of Chef Martin's creations. We always look forward to the dining experience. The service is the icing on the cake. Always attentive but never too much.
