Ram's Head Inn Ratings and Reviews
Absolutely love the Ram's Head Inn. The food is delicious and the ambiance is superb.
Another fantastic dinner at the Rams Head
Having enjoyed the Rams Head many times over the years, it has become my go to place for a special night out. This time I was celebrating my wife's birthday and the anniversary of good friends. We were not disappointed. From the initial greasing to the valet's goodbye everything was superlative. No matter which appetizer, dinner or desert everyone enjoyed their choice and no one left wanting anything. Even the candles on the desert were a nice touch. We will go back!

Had a wonderful meal at the Ram's Head Inn. They were able to accomadate diatery restrictions without issue. Our server was attentive to our needs. Over all it's an "old school" place with solid service and food.

You can't go wrong with anything on that menu. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you have a wonderful dining experience. There really is nothing bad to say about this place. It gets better every time we go.
As always dinner was outstanding.

Always a great experience. Food was very good, service was second to none and the atmosphere accompanied the meal. Have been to the restaurant before and will continue to dine there,
Second Time even better than the First
We returned to Ram's Head Inn for their extension of the Atlantic City Restaurant Week. We were thrilled to be able to sample more of Ram's Head's terrific offerings. Our second experience topped our first. The food was delicious, as were our selections the first week. The real difference was the service. Our server Dan and his assistant Megan were much more attentive than our server the previous week. We were impressed that the knives that were in the original place setting were cleared and new knives were brought with our dinner entrees. The previous week, not only did our silver ware remain the same, but I wasn't given a steak knife to cut lamb chops. Of course, one of the best parts of dining at the Ram's Head is their dessert cart. We sampled two different desserts and loved them both. The Key Lime pie and the Cannoli cake were delicious.
Delicious Restaurant Week Dinner!
Had a lovely dinner here for the extended Atlantic City Restaurant Week. My appetizer was the Butternut Squash soup. The soup arrived piping hot and was very tasty. Wish the portion was a little larger, though. Have had this soup before and it never disappoints. My entree was the Sesame Salmon with Bok Choy & Mashed Potatoes. The salmon had a light dusting of sesame seeds with a glaze on it. It was very good. Did have trouble cutting the tough bok choy so had to ask for a sharper knife. It was ok. Loved the smooth & creamy potatoes. For dessert I chose the Blueberries & Strawberries from the dessert cart. Wish the amount of berries the server gave in the small dish were more! Overall, a very satisfying meal!
Restaurant Week finale
Always on our list for restaurant week. The place was filled for lunch on the last day of the extended week. Our server Jessica was friendly and helpful. The NJ clam chowder was the best. Our top sirloin was a bit over cooked , but the portions were generous. The stuffed tomatoes were great. The canoli cake was good. And we were happy that the hostess checked on every one. We'll be back!
Excellent dining, as we knew it would be
We had not been to Ram's Head Inn for close to twenty years. We were eager to recapture the previous elegant experiences there which we had enjoyed while our parents were alive. It was their favorite restaurant of all, and we enjoyed wonderful family dinners with them there for many years. So, last week was a nostalgia trip for us as well as an exceptional dining experience. We loved it! Our waitress was excellent. Upon learning that I had problems with milk and wheat, she steered me towards dishes which I could handle. There was something for everyone, that is for sure!! Thank your an excellent evening; we will be back.
Ambiance Second to None
The atmosphere and service were impeccable. Food was very good. I went during Restaurant Week do got a good deal on the cost
Not the Ram's Head I remember!
Of course, this was the extended week of restaurant week, but I have to say the whole dining experience was not what I had anticipated. My disappointment began as I was enjoying a before dinner cocktail in the elegant bar room. Our fellow patrons were shabbily dressed and obviously did not take extra care when grooming for this dining event. We saw shorts, tee shirts, sandals with bare feet, yoga pants, and poorly fitting jeans . Now there is a dress code but I am assuming this is ignored during restaurant week. Pity since this is such a lovely restaurant. We reserved our table thru Open Table and did request a table in the main dining room near a window. We were seated in the garden room. No problem, it was busy and this seat was quieter. Our food was very good and for the most part service was ok. Our waitress offered my dining partner another drink from the bar but ignored my empty iced tea and water glass. The assistant server offered us coffee. Then the waitress presented us with the check. We had not had dessert! She did apologize but she was obviously overwhelmed. Not a terrible experience, but not the perfect dinning experiences that I have previously had at Rams Head. Kind of makes me sad that good food and impeccable service are a thing of the past. I think it all starts by relaxing that dress code.
We went to the Rams Head for our anniversary. To begin with, as we were driving there, Breanna called and said they had a cancellation and our table would be ready sooner if we chose to be seated early. Upon arrival we chose to have a cocktail or two in the bar prior to being seated. Our bartenders, Haley and Helen, were a pleasure. Very friendly and efficient. When we decided to be seated for dinner our hostess, Katie, went out of her way to make sure that we were seated in the Terrace Room and, at a table that not only had a beautiful view outdoors but also, provided us with some privacy. This young lady is a huge asset to the Rams Head and, set the tone for what turned out to be a wonderful evening. Our servers that night were Jessica and Antonio. Jessica took our drink and food orders and aside from being efficient and, very knowledgeable about the menu choices, was a joy to deal with throughout the evening. As I looked over their intimidating, very large, wine list I was a bit at a loss not being a wine expert. I chose a particular Pinot Noir hoping I had made the right choice. When she brought the wine out, Jessica told us that she checked with the folks in the know at the Inn and, assured us that the choice was perfect. If you could describe the perfect food server, that would be Jessica. Antonio hovered at the fringe of our area all evening. As soon as it looked like we might need something or have a question, bang, he was right there. The man knows his stuff and, with a great sense of humor, was a pleasure to talk to. Another great asset. Our meal, from beginning to end was delicious and, plated beautifully. Our sincere thanks to an excellent chef and the back of the house. When leaving, Antonio insisted on walking us to the door where Katie met us with my wife's coat. The entire staff wished us a nice evening as we passed by. Overall, we found the Rams Head Inn to be better than it's 4 star rating and, we will be sure to make it a regular stop.

Chicken pot pie was amazing, both taste and presentation. Lamb was above average as well. Dessert cart was as good as ever.
Very much enjoyed our evening at Rams Head. It's a very historic building. Service was outstanding, food was good, wine was great!
Celebrate a special occasion here
Love this restaurant. The food is exceptional as is the service. My husband and I went here during Restaurant Week, the only way we could afford to eat here. The regular prices are very high, but during Restaurant Week it is manageable on the pocketbook, $33.16 for a 3 course meal. I had Asparagus with crab soup, Char Grilled Top Sirloin and Chocolate Mousse Cake. My husband had Lobster Bisque, Chicken Pot Pie and Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake. Everything was DELICIOUS and the service was EXCELLENT!
Had oysters half price ,greens salad, lamb and lime pie all excellent
Was disappointed server didn't bring desert cart, just "told" us about selection. I had seen strawberries and blueberries when cart was at a nearby table; when I asked requested "fresh fruit" I was told there wasn't any. I assumed that that there was none left. Was VERY miffed when cart brought to others later and strawberries and blueberries were still available! I guess she was too lazy to bring cart to us. Selected cheesecake which seemed a little dry.
A Bit Disappointed......
We ate here last year and had a very pleasant experience during restaurant week so we decided to try it again. Unfortunately, it did not meet last year's experience - just small things but they added up to a rather mediocre dining event. First of all, we were seated at a table that was right inside the first room along the wall. All patrons walked by as they entered and exited the dining area. Meanwhile. a quiet table in the corner by the windows remained unoccupied the entire time we were there. My husband ordered a glass of wine which when served was a meager amount. We would have thought little of this, but a lady at a nearby table also got a glass of wine shortly thereafter and she received a more generous serving. The gentlemen who served rolls and appetizers asked every table around us if they would like seconds on rolls, but we were never asked. My meat (pork tenderloin) was fine and I enjoyed it. My husband's beef dish was somewhat tough and chewy with a few bad bites (as he described them) although his sides were good and well-presented. We watched the waitress wheel the dessert cart to the other tables. When it was our turn, she just told us our choices. When I asked if I could walk over and take a look, she then agreed to wheel it by our table. The chocolate mousse was just so-so, but the fruit was fresh and tasty. My husband described his cake as looking better than it tasted. The menu offered more choices and variety than many other establishments which was delightful, but I think we will try a different restaurant next year.
Not on the menu
For Restaurant Week, Ram's Head advertised on the online menu lobster ravioli. With my heart set on that, I went to place my order and didn't see it on their actual menu at the restaurant. They said they weren't serving the lobster ravioli and were offering vegetable ravioli instead (but that was already on the online menu- I knew that was an option. I didn't want that option.) Very disappointing. It shouldn't have been advertised online if they weren't going to provide it.

First time visit
Rams head inn was a special night out for my husbands birthday and also a time to take advantage of restaurant week for Atlantic city. The ambiance was rustic, old feeling but beautiful and homie. The service was amazing from the valet to the hostesses and of course the group of waiters and waitresses that took care of us! The food list was great for restaurant week choices (especially the dessert cart!!) and taste just as good- had the Shrimp risotto and the filet- delicious! Thank you Rams Head Inn for this special night away!

Our out of Town Guests Loved our choice -Rams Head
We took out of town trainers for a lovely dinner. Since there were 10, we had a lovely room to ourselves . The servers were attentive and accommodating, especially for the two vegetarians with our group. The food was delicious and the dessert cart was filled with tempting treats. Treat yourself and visit the Rams Head!
Restaurant week dinner
First time. Food, service atmosphere was excellent .
Food and service were very good. Salmon entree cooked to perfection.
Elegant dining in a relaxed atmosphere. Top notch service and very good food reasonably priced. Excellent restaurant week choices especially the dessert bar.
Enjoyable Place to Eat

Tonight was unusual for Ram's Head Inn. It was not the usual 5 star experience. We had a long wait for our table even though we had a reservation. Our table was not properly set. We had a long wait to receive bread and water and our drinks which were never refilled the entire evening. Dinner entrees were excellent. Dessert selection was meager. Coffee was not offered until we had finished our desserts. The room was unusually loud. We will return but not during AC Restaurant Week.

Food was excellent, especially the butternut squash soup. Only complaint (and not really that) is they tended to hurry you up although it was probably due to Atlantic City Restaurant Week. Nice wine list but VERY expensive!

Had an issue with the food temp on my entree which was quickly resolved by the manager. It's a nice old school type of restaurant where cell phone are asked to be turn off prior to be seated. Food is of fair quality, service is excellent.
On restaurant week it was very crowded and noisy.
We have been there many times before so we were familiar with the menu. The food is always outstanding and we always love the popovers(they were missing on our last visit and we understood why). All in all another excellent meal.
Long-time upscale dining
This restaurant had an excellent Restaurant Week menu. My wife and I had the escargot, which was very garlicky but tasty, and the filet mignon. The meat was cooked medium and was very tender. Our son had the pot pie in a copper bowl and loved it. The dessert cart was amazing. They offered strawberry shortcake, tiramisu, cheesecake, cannoli cake, mousse, and whipped cream. I had the cannoli cake with sides of chocolate mousse and whipped cream. My wife had the fresh berries and cream. Our son had the cheesecake. This is known as an upscale restaurant and you can always count on great food and service.

Everything from the appetizer to the dessert was excellent! The only negative was that our dessert was served from a cart that was standing in the dining room out in the open....our desserts (key lime pie & strawberry shortcake) were warm and extremely soft!
