About POP Champagne & Dessert Bar
POP Champagne & Dessert Bar is a warm and welcoming place where friends gather for good times and where dates enjoy a romantic setting. POP is located in Old Pasadena in a historic building that retains many of its original features — brick walls, plank floors, an open- beam ceiling, and Batchelder tiles.
POP’s dinner menu starts with appetizers like jalapeño tuna tartare and beer-battered artichokes, and goes on to include entrée favorites such as champagne chicken, a five-mushroom risotto, and braised short ribs with truffle mashed potatoes. It also includes salads, cheese and charcuterie platters, and small plates such as pommes frites and a seasonal soup. Our much-praised dessert menu presents classics such as crème brûlée and a soufflé du jour, as well as inventive temptations such as a Meyer lemon tart with homemade basil ice cream. All of our offerings are made in-house, including our breads.

POP Champagne & Dessert Bar Ratings and Reviews
Live Jazz and Restaurant Week
I went with an old college friend for a GNO. We were drawn by the Pasadena Restaurant Week menu, but ended up ordering from the Happy Hour menu, because we wanted to do it tapas style. Everything was good, reasonable portions for two. Server was a little hover-y but no major complaints. Was dead when we got there but we made reservations and were seated right next to the live jazz band set up. It's nice for ambiance, but hard to talk to the person you're with once the music starts, so keep that in mind. A few couples started wandering in just as we were leaving (around 8pm), so I'm sure it's more lively later in the evening. Food was good, dessert options were expansive. Can't wait to go back and try a bunch of new things.
We were looking for a place to eat during Dine Pasadena. After going through more than a few menus that all looked like they could have been the same restaurant, we found POP. At first we thought we would be going just for drinks and dessert, however, after looking at the menu we were onboard for dinner, too. Bottom line: We were very impressed. Having eaten at a lot of the nicer restaurants in Pasadena finding POP was awesome. We've already started thinking about our next visit, and have recommended it to friends and family. Definitely check out POP if you're into great drinks and food. If your experience was anything like ours, you'll be glad to add it to your arsenal of places to recommend and to always have in your back pocket for a great meal out for fun and for special occasions.
Nice place good food
Nice place good food and champagne but pretty pricey so not an everyday dinning kind of place.
The ambiance was really nice. The drinks were fairly priced during happy hour. I had the POPcorn chicken, it was dry and flavorless. My friend had the burger which she really enjoyed.
Love this place
Omg, I love this place! I am so glad that I picked it as a birthday destination. I loved the dessert and the service was great! I can't wait to come back again!

Excellent HH menu. Delicious food and tasty cocktails. Small but lovely space and great soundtrack. Service this time wasn't up to par, but has been spot on in the past.
Best Brunch, Ever!
I've been here for dinner, drinks, dessert, and appetizers and have never had a bad time. My most recent visit was their for champagne brunch. It was flawless! We had the best service I've ever had (Thanks Spencer & Jacob!) and the food was amazing. It's $40 for one entree (which is good sized!) unlimited dessert bar (mini Creme brulees even! Delish) and unlimited champagne/mimosas/peach Bellinis! It's a great deal for brunch, and the food was fabulous. If you don't drink or are the DD for the day, it's only $25 for one entree and unlimited dessert bar. My friends and I had an absolutely epic brunch, and I wholeheartedly recommend Pop for any occasion!
THE DESSERT AND CHAMPAGNE WHERE GREAT!! THE FOOD JUST OK.
Great first time
Great little gem in Pasadena's downtown. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and drink selection. I would definitely recommend for drinks or a date night.
Had an amazing time at Pops...server knew his stuff...wife and I had a blast....pricey but well worth it....highly recommended....
A bit of dissapointment
It's a nice place to go. I just don't recommend going for a large group. Unfortunately, they forgot two of the meals. Then they forgot one of the desserts. My friend decided to cancel her dessert and she still got charged for it. Then we decided to split the bill 4 ways and it was chaotic. We explained to the waitress how we wanted the bill to be split and she agreed. Then when she took the credit cards to charge us, everyone got charged for something completely different from what they ordered. She gave the credit cards and screwed up the receipts to the host to charge. It was just a mess. It took about 30-45 min to fix the problem. It's a nice place for a date. The food is okay. Nothing special.

We love POP's champagne list. There are both large, well known houses and smaller, less known ones offered! Their service is great and check the wine often for bubbles and allow you to taste. They will open a new bottle if you feel that the life of the champagne is just not there anymore. The food is good ... But to be honest ... Welcome for the champagne.

Had a 6:15p reservation, empty at the time but quickly filled up. Excellent service cuz early dinner. Had truffle Mac & pizza. Yummy. Cocktails sweet goodness.
Always fun and friendly
Prices were very reasonable and our selection of happy hour appetizers and drinks were all great. Our server, John was very friendly. Atmosphere was just right, busy but we didn't feel crowded out or rushed.
Some food missed the mark, but overall great!
I made a 9:00 PM reservation earlier in the evening for two. When we walked in, our hostess was on her cell, and we waited a beat for her to finish up . We were taken to a table and soon introduced to our server, Mike, who had an awesome handlebar mustache. I'd come to this restaurant because it had been listed as a date spot, but our table location was decidedly unromantic. We started with the deviled eggs, all of which were delicious (the ham one tasted like a ham sandwich, which was a bit trippy... my favorites were the scallion and the bacon, and my date's favorites were the sriracha and the bacon). We talked for a while about entree options with Mike, and due to the size of the meal, my date went with the mushroom risotto, although Mike did say that the herb shrimp were more delicious. I ordered the herbed shrimp. We also ordered a bottle of wine; it wasn't sparkling, but it was white (clean, good, but forgettable; I forgot which bottle we ordered). The risotto was indeed more filling but less delicious than the herbed shrimp. In fact, considering that I had tried my herbed shrimp first, I would have been sorely disappointed with the risotto. The shrimp were quite flavorful. Each almost tasted like a scamp. The little polenta squared were delicious and also well-seasoned. I do not eat green beans so I didn't touch them, although they looked... fine? We got the Irish Car Bomb for dessert and I was surprised at how sad and dry the cake was. The whiskey caramel and bailey's ice cream were delicious, but the guiness chocolate cake in the cup needed a lot of moisture and didn't have much. I was surprised mostly because I think this is a dessert place and that the dessert would be a standout. In our case, the deviled eggs and shrimp were. We were looking for a way to get into The Speakeasy and the manager really helped us out. He stood in the front with us while he texted a friend to try to figure out the password for the night. Thumbs up to him & Mike!
This place is truly a gem! From the beautiful chandeliers to the quaint ambiance... The service was wonderful. It started with our chic and prompt server, to the delicious food, and lastly having met Chef Vasquez. It was truly an amazing experience. This place is great for couples or girls night out.
Romantic dinner for 2
My Valentine and I enjoyed our delicious and reasonably priced 3 course meal at Pop Champagne and Dessert Bar. I found the restaurant on Instagram and was eager to try it out. I was very pleased.
Good drinks, if you can get served
The desert was OK, the drinks were good, service was non existent. Waited for our reservation for about 10 minutes (not bad) but after getting seated no one came by for 30 minutes. We asked the hostess for help and got told the waitress would be right there. That waitress told us another one would be by. Ordered, got our drinks and nothing for like an hour. I went because they usually serve yuengling (my favorite beer) but they were out and with the terrible service I don't think we'll be back. I'll just have yuengling shipped to my house I'd probably get it faster via the post office.

Love everything never ever leave without a soufflé.
The food amd desert choices are excellent.
Our first choice for Valentines Day was booked, so after reading the reviews, we decided to try Pop Champagne. I am glad to say that we are very happy our first choice was booked, as this beat it by a landslide. They had our favorite champagne and the food was excellent. Be sure to save room for desert, as those are outstanding! I can highly recommend the smores and the chocolate dipped strawberries.
My experience was not good, for a first time visiting. It was really only due to that my service was so poor. It took our server a while to realize she had a new table, and when she finally did she seemed frantic and annoyed that we were there. I ordered the champagne taster, which was tasty. But I would have liked to have been told what I was drinking (as the menu didn't say). I had to ask the server, and then she just listed the names and ran away. I was given no description of them. When we finally got our order in, the food came out all separately! There were three of us, and when the first meal came our friend sat there waiting for the rest to show. It was a good amount of time that went by when we told them to just eat, their food was getting cold. Then finally my side came out, but still no other meals. Each dish was brought out separate, and rather annoying. I'm not sure if this was due to our server not knowing restaurant etiquette, or if the kitchen doesn't know how to time there food so it's all ready at once. When we had finished we sat some time waiting for our server, we finally had to ask the host for a dessert menu. She kindly brought a few and asked if she could clear our plates. This was by far the best service we had got all evening. The desserts were good, but by this time we were so upset with our service that we were knit picking everything. I would give this place another chance, if it were guaranteed that I would not have that same server, and our meals would come all together. Other than that the atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was tasty. Other than the pizza, which was lacking a little flavor.

Group of 6 dinner on a Saturday night. Pop was busy, but service was great! The food was even better. Most of us decided on the Dine LA menu. Such a good selection if food for the right price. 4 courses for $39. I had the shrimp, filet, Bailey's ice cream, and the cookies & cream. All really good. Others at the table had the Ahi tuna dip, sliders, and mac and cheese. This is a great place for dinner and brunch. I would highly recommend it!

If you don't like service, this is the place to go. Had a reservation and was seated. Almost 20 min. go by without any acknowledgement as multiple servers walk by and don't take notice. Not even water was served. For a restaurant that was half empty, completely unacceptable. Even at a busy restaurant, it would barely be passable. Workers were too busy chatting in the back to serve the customers. Tables seated after us we greeted and served water while we were ignored. With at least 100+ other options in Old Town Pasadena and surrounding area, I'd suggest a place that wants your business. Sadly, some items on their menu looked tempting, yet I'll never know how good they were or were not. Save yourself frustration and seek nourishment elsewhere.

Adored the music, the food was spectacular as well. Happened to show up during the "Dine LA" special. Got the hibiscus champagne drink and was delighted to find that the flowers were edible! Lots of character, and amazing soufflés~
Exceptional! One of my best experiences
I had been there couple of times before and the staff was always friendly and exceptionally welcoming but this time after I had an incident I really appreciated how warming and sympathetic the WHOLE staff was! That's one of the aspects you really appreacciate where at a restaurant more than a customer you are a real guest. Don't have words enough to thank pop champagne plus the ambiance and the food is really amazing

I had been to Pop Champagne before for girls night and love it. I was in Pasadena on a Sunday with a friend and decided to pop in for what I was hoping would be some sliders. After making our reservation at 1:45pm found out on arrival they only serve breakfast until 5pm. I'm not a big breakfast eater as I don't like eggs. We were starving and getting hangry so finding another restaurant was really out of the question. The staff is nice and helped accommodate us, finding options we would enjoy. All in all I really enjoy this place, but will be coming here after 5pm from now on :)
Cute little neighborhood spot.
Pop had all my favorite things: comfort food, comfort desserts and comfort drinks! Went there for Dine LA. I had the deviled eggs and I loved the twist on the classic. Had the filet, which was part of Dine LA. Decent size and the fries were great! Had lots of flavor. HUGE dessert section which made it hard to decide! And I really like the different types of champagne drinks they had. Looks like it would be fun on the weekend. Wine selection was also really good. My friend had the pair three wines and really liked them.
my new favorite place
they go out of their way to be helpful, no matter what the need, and truly want to make you happy. their happy hour does just that! great deals and great fun. a nice sparkler for 5.00 a glass, tasty bites big enough to be dinner, and a convivial atmosphere. i'm thinking of moving next door to save on travel
Great Birthday Spot
My girlfriends and I came here on a Sunday night for dinner. We actually arrived right as happy hour was finishing up so we ended up just choosing to get a wide array of appetizers that were on offer. They were so delicious that we just kept ordering more and more of them. The service was quick and everyone was very nice. The food was amazing. It was a cute little spot and of course the champagne was outstanding. I highly recommend one of the champagne flights!
Great Brunch Spot
Took my mother for a nice brunch and really enjoyed it here. Selection on menu is excellent and the food was great. It was some miss and hits at the bar, but was willing to overlook that.

The anbiance only nice but the food was ok..but I don't think it's worth $40
Very good service. Winter salad excellent.
Favorites were winter salad and also the cookies and creme dessert.
Loved the bottomless mimosa brunch ;)
The Vegetable Quiche was divine and the array of sweets that they have at the dessert bar is lovely. I will definitely be coming back for brunch!
The place is nice
The place is nice. The food is better than most. Nice little place for a date. Very relaxed.
Be going back.
I was there for a small 2 person birthday celebration. The waiters were great, the food was more than enough for two petite gals. Enough to take home. The ambiance was lovely. The price was in the upper ranges but well worth it as we paid for bottomless mimosas and the all you can eat dessert bar, in addition to the meals. Will be back to experience happy hour soon.
Great for desert cravings
We went to POP for desert only and loved it. The souffle of the day was banana chocolate chip. It was pretty good (not amazing but good!) The fruit plate was meh, the home made ice cream was very good, the funnel cake was good but not as amazing or different than theme park funnel cake as I thought. What was surprisingly AHHMAZING was the cookies and cream. Don't get tricked into thinking it's just cookies and ice cream - there is something really wow about it! Definitely coming back here for a good souffle and cookies and cream!!

I have yet to come here for anything other than drinks and desserts, but I fully intend to come back. The tasting flights are delightful, and the staff is friendly as well as informative. The decor is adorable, and it is larger inside than it looks from the street. The desserts.... well, I've been back multiple times just for dessert. The lemon tart with basil ice cream is a must have. Basil ice cream sounds strange, but it is everything you could want from an ice cream.

Excellent food , service was very good, wine list on the small size but good variety. Highly recommend the beet salad, the wild mushrooms and goat cheese bruschetta, the filet mignon. The desert are excellent as well. It was a very nice dining experience with cafe concert music. We'll definitely go again.

Food is average and for the price it makes it fairly average. There's nothing exceptional. The desert and drinks are good. So I would go light on the food and go for what they are named as, champagne and dessert. Party of the reason I am giving them a low rating is due to the second time I have to prove to open table I am not a no show. I feel like they don't like checking you in.
