About Pier W
Pier W, a landmark Cleveland restaurant, has been serving a critically acclaimed seafood and contemporary menu since May 11, 1965. Having recently undergone a $3 million interior renovation, the new Pier W resembles a sophisticated luxury liner cantilevered over Lake Erie offering dramatic views of both the Lake and the downtown Cleveland skyline. We would like to request that shorts, flip flops and baseball caps are not worn to the restaurant.

Pier W Ratings and Reviews
My husband & I were looking for someplace nice to celebrate our anniversary, and decided to go with Pier W. Going on Open Table the day before, we were hoping for a 7:30 or 8:00 reservation, but our choices were 5:30 or 8:30. We took the 8:30 reservation, and decided to arrive early to enjoy a cocktail in the bar before dinner (I had the Pier W--very nice!), where there is a nice sized bar, nicely lit, as well as some high-top tables and booths. Our cocktail waitress was helpful and efficient--she checked in with the hostess and got us to our table as soon as it was available. When we arrived at our table, there were 2 glasses of champagne waiting for us, and the waiter let us know that it was sent by one of our kids. When he handed us our menus, "Happy Anniversary" was printed across the top--quite a nice touch! The view of the city was great, and overall nice ambiance. The food was excellent--we shared the prosciutto and cheese board, which was sufficient; my husband had the crab stuffed shrimp, which he raved about; and I had the Simply Prepared walleye, which was very tasty. To finish out our meal, we were brought a complimentary piece of torte to share. We really felt the staff at Pier W went out of their way to make our special event a wonderful occasion.
Great food and great service!
Great food and great service!
Food mediocre to average and well overpriced.
This restaurant is all the rave, nicely situated and well laid out. Frankly, the food does not meet the standards set by the lovely ambience. We ordered several things from the menu, but the most disappointing was the signature Bouillabaisse. About three bits of fish, fours mussels, a couple of cockles and a withered little crab leg were the substance in the broth. The flavor of the broth was overwhelmed with saffron, so much so that it had that 'disinfectant' taste so typical of such an overkill. It has to be said that what little fish I got was absolutely fresh and succulent. This dish was an astonishing $35!! The one thing we enjoyed was a lovely beetroot salad, again overpriced but easier to stomach (no pun intended). I hate to have to write something like this, but having lived in Sydney and Melbourne for 12 years, my expectations of restaurants and the food they present are much higher as a result. This place could be brilliant, but it probably experiences little local competition and rests on the laurels of past achievements and a loyal following clientele who continue to eat there as they always have without question or scrutiny.
First anniversary success
I surprised my husband by taking him there for our one year wedding anniversary. It was our first time visiting. We had a wonderful time. The scene was perfect, our waiter was very pleasant, and the food was flavored great. It had a very intimate feel from beginning to end. We will be back for sure!
Great food and outstanding service
We wanted a romantic location to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Pier W did not disappoint as it offers a scenic view overlooking Lake Erie. We had the surf and turf and the quality of the food was outstanding and a good value for the money. Service was friendly and we received our food in a timely manner. We would definitely return to try other dishes.
Early Mother's Day brunch
Took my mom here for an early Mother's Day brunch while I was in town for the weekend. Everything was awesome! The smoked salmon plate was delicious! The desserts were all bite size so you didn't feel guilty trying multiple desserts. The view was beautiful, great view of both downtown and Lake Erie.

Dinner with a foreign business associate
We brought a business associate from another country to this restaurant for dinner. The view of Cleveland was beautiful, both of the skyline and sunset from the outdoor deck. It really showcased Cleveland and impressed our visitor. Our service was beyond our expectations and the food was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion or event. I have dined here numerous times and have never been disappointed.
Third visit and found the food not up to par. Ordered stuffed shrimp, which was dry. Ordered Walleye Tempura, found to be very plain.

Came from Roanoke, VA and took my sister for special occasion. The food was excellent, the atmosphere outstanding, and loved the piano player where I complimented him on his playing. We had the sweetest server too!

Fantastic service, I let them know it was our anniversary with my reservation. They had a front and center window table ready, perfect food and great views. I would add you really don't need a window seat for the great views though, nearly stadium seating provides views to most all tables.
W is for WOW!
Pier W was an excellent dining experience. The service and the quality of food was well worth the price. Would have liked to have been seated closer to the windows to experience the beautiful view at its fullest. Maybe next time.......yes, there will be a next time!

Very Nice Evening
Had a nice table one row back. Beautiful view. Service and food were both good. Erin did a nice job.
I loved the entire visit. My wife and I showed up 20 minutes early. The hostess was more than accommodating. Seating us immediately. The wait staff was very attentive. And explain all of the ingredients in the food. The food was spectacular, and I would recommend this to fine establishment two anybody. The food was a bit pricey, but was well worth it for the romantic view of the Cleveland coastline.
Brunch with a view
If your experience of Pier W has been limited to evenings, I can recommend their Sunday brunch. Great selection of sea food as well as all brunch foods (and roast beef.) The view by day is spectacular. We were also impressed by the attentiveness of the wait staff and the general sense of fine dining, even with a buffet.
A review with a view
Wide selection of brunch choices tastefully prepared. From the service, to the live pianist, to the view of the city-scape all in our party were satisfied and look forward to a return visit.
It was a happy anniversary.
Everything was excellent as always. Good food , good service without "hovering" and a great atmosphere. We'll be back.

Excellent special occasion restaurant. We went for my wife's birthday and they gave us menus with Birthday across the top so the staff knew we were celebrating a birthday. Food was excellent as always and so was the service. There are no bad views of the lake. Only one complaint, the restaurant was too noisy for my taste.
Very romantic setting for our 9th anniversary. Great view, food, and service for a special night.
Food with a view
We took a visitor to dinner and she was amazed by the excellent cuisine and exquisite view. We will definitely consider returning with guests in the future.
There were three of us for a casual weekday luncheon and while the food was very good, we waited quite awhile to get it. There was a rather large group who was seated after us, but somehow their orders were placed in the kitchen before ours. The server explained the situation, but was not very apologetic and seemed to prefer to just let it slide. We would return, but certainly not on a day when there was such a large group.
We had a lovely evening out for our anniversary. It started with a special menu that said "happy anniversary" (nice touch). The calamari was some of the best i've had. It was so fresh it was soft- not rubbery like most places. The crab cakes were great and bouillabase was excellent. The service was outstanding- Caitlyn was our server and was very attentive -explained everything. I will def be back for another special occasion!

I was most surprised
My wife and I live south and east of Cleveland and have satisfied of dining needs locally there as well. We were very surprised as to the dining offering and the ability of Pier W to execute on such a high level
Dinner at Pier W is always special. Many times during our marriage we have eaten at Pier W to celebrate an anniversary and have never been disappointed. The wait staff was considerate and efficient. Our meals were delicious and the view of downtown was fantastic. Recently, I dined there for lunch with friends. The food was incredible and the prices were very affordable.
The food was amazing. I had the scallops and my mom had the swordfish. It was amazing.... And the view is spectacular.

The brunch was so great we stayed for happy hour after.
Took my girlfriend here on our anniversary and it was great. My favorite restaurant!
The dining experience was exceptional. Our group enjoyed a satisfying meal and drinks along with the beautiful scenery for my birthday celebration. There was no detail left unnoticed. Is a fabulous option for a fine dining experience with a view.
We visited on Saturday with family for a special get together and we had an amazing meal. We loved that we got to sit on the lower level so the view was great and we enjoyed everything we ordered. Our group would recommend to anyone the clam chowder, the chop salad, the cedar planked salmon, and the creme brulee.
Took my wife for her birthday, The view is amazing going from later in the day into night fall. The view of the city all lit up is amazing at night. The food was worth every penny and actually wasn't that expensive for what you get. Our server was excellent and at the end of dinner a free piece of cake for my wife. We will be returning to this restaurant every time we visit Cleveland.
Not going back....over priced average food!
The last two times the food was okay. It's pretty great presentation. But nothing special I had the stuffed shrimp. My husband had cod both were okay. The clam chowder though it had lots of clams was not thick they way clam chowder is meant to be. It was thin and runny more like soup. The service was very good and the manager asked how our meal was and immediately comped our dessert. Everyone was very nice. But in comparison to Blue Pointe Grille their food is a 10 and Pier W would be a 5. We live on the Gold Coast it's very convenient but we prefer to dine where the food is really good.
LObster bisque to die for
I have had a lot of lobster bisque. This is the best in the world. My red fish was cooked to perfection. If you don't love this restaurant. You don't love seafood. My wife hates seafood and loved the beef shot ribs. It's rare for the food to be better then the view. Trust me you won't even look out the window. It's that good. Only downer. Not crazy about dessert. Cheese course was very good. Fresh cheese.
Poor service, with good food
The food was delicious. However, the service was extremely poor. Our waitress disappeared for roughly 20 minutes. I ate my entire meal without water. It was not refilled until we paid for the meal. It was extremely disappointing.
Fantastic place for brunch, happy hour or dinner
Food is consistently great & extremely professional staff. A true gem in Lakewood Ohio
Beautiful inside & out! Impeccable service & food
The view is absolutely breath taking, especially when the sunsets. Food options and quality were just wonderful. Our server was Kevin M. He was fun, professional, and knowledgeable. The prices were very fair for what we received. Perfect for a special occasion! We LOVED it!
