Paolo's Ristorante - Georgetown Ratings and Reviews
All-Time Favorite Georgetown Restaurant
We come into Georgetown about four times a year. After more than 20 years of going to Paolo's, it is still our all-time Georgetown favorite. We don't even try other restaurants anymore because Paolo's's has never failed to delight. The frosting on the cake: the prices are quite reasonable. And speaking of frosting, they have fabulous desserts.
The food was excellent, bread sticks are delicious. The bottomless mimosas are well worth it, didn't love the bellinis. If you want a quite brunch get there between 11-11:45ish, it didn't pick up until noon.

We have eaten at Paolo's a number of times and been impressed. This time while the service and desserts were wonderful my chicken Marsala was over cooked and dry. Stick to the pasta....
Time to Burn?
The food at Paolo's was good. It was not excellent; however, the real disappointment was the service. It was a Monday evening and the restaurant was not even half full. From the time we sat down until we had our order taken, 40 minutes passed. This is unfortunate service when a restaurant is crowded; it is unacceptable when most tables are empty and staff is simply milling about. It may have just been our waiter but no one else even attempted to assist until we finally asked a hostess to send our server back over. He did not appear, but someone else did to take the order. A Monday evening meal that should have been a nice quick evening out turned into a 2 plus hour event with food that did not meet the standard of sitting in a restaurant for two hours. Even if the service had been prompt, the food is really just average when valued against other Georgetown restaurants and the price point.
Loved my drink and food delicious. My first visit here and would definitely come again. Very nice location for Georgetowners.
Won't be back
We had eaten here a couple of years ago and brought 2 people from out of town. My husband ordered a beer while the rest of us looked at the drink menu. It was 15+ min. before the waiter returned for our drink order. Burrata ap was bland. Waiter highly recommended the chicken parm...it came with a burnt outer crust and pasta with dried out sauce. It was like something that was at a cafeteria buffet. At least the beans were good. My husband's lobster pasta, another recommendation, was tasteless. His second beer arrived so late, he'd forgotten he'd ordered it. Pomegranate creme brulee was runny and we left it unfinished (amongst 4 of us!). Service was really slow all around. Best thing was the Malbec wine, a decent red for $34. Very disappointing that we brought people here when there are so many other good places in the area.
Good, but not worth the price
Food was good, but pricey, small portions, and not *amazing*. Ambiance was also a bit inconsistent

I had dinner here 15 years ago and loved it. Came back yesterday so happy to see it. I told the maitre d' that we had made our reservation through Open Table and while he acknowledged it to me, he did not check me in. We were waited upon but by 2 different waiters. The 2nd waiter took our order. I clarified 3 x that I wanted the mushroom risotto. I ordered a second glass of wine which I did not receive but was not charged. The food was excellent. The service below average. The ambiance terrific.

Paolo's was a favorite of mine back in the day. However, our dining experience today was horrific. The food is no longer great and the service was absolutely dreadful. The restaurant was completely understaffed (which is an understatement). We didn't feel cared for. In addition, we overheard other surrounding tables complain that they didn't even have water, etc. Thus, this was a true theme throughout the restaurant. I wish them the best but I will not be going back there.
Excellent service! Great food! Awesome ambiance!
We came from New Jersey to celebrate my daughter's 24th birthday. They were very accommodating! Staff is friendly and attentive. We took our time and enjoyed our celebration. The staff was not rushing us out at all. Please let them know that we truly enjoyed our celebration and they made it very magical. Thank you.
We dined at Paolo's while I was in town on business. My daughters traveled with my wife & me on this particular trip, and one of them has severe food allergies. Not only did the floor manager have a special meal prepared for her, he continually came by the table to make sure we were okay. The experience was, without a doubt, one of our best ever...and that includes our Disney experiences, which are always fantastic. This meal ranked right up there with them! They even made us SWEET TEA!!..a big deal for southerners in Washington!

We know it was busy for Valentine's day, but the service was bad. We waited for drinks and water refills. When the entrees came the meat was hot but the sides were cold. We ordered an after dinner drink that never came. The waiter was overworked, but the floor manager that was chatting up the tables studiously avoided stopping by our table, even as he is checking in with all the diners around us. It was a very disappointing experience.

I have been to Paolo's for dinner but never for brunch. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and the venue was a scene set for a loving brunch. From excellent recommendations of meals to taking pictures for us, the service was amazing. The staff was lively and it made brunch at Paolo's a great experience. I enjoyed it so much, I invited my football teammates to go next weekend.
Worst service I've ever had at a restaurant.
Worst service I've ever had. Had no waiter for over 30 minutes. Didn't get waters until an hour in.
Josh is a really good bartender. He keeps conversation and makes the guests feel welcome
Food's good, but value? Not so much
Simply put, the food at Paolo's is good Italian food. I ordered a pork risotto, my fiancée had a seafood pasta (scampi, as I think). We've wanted to try Paolo's for some time, as we see it right there on Wisconsin Avenue. The food was good, but nothing spectacular. For the price point (about $20-30 per entrée), it definitely was not worth it. I'd go back if I had a 50% discount or someone else was paying and they picked it, but that's probably it.
holiday dinner with sisters and neice
Great time sitting close together in a booth, I always order the made to order Minestrone- it is excellent, vegetables still crunchy, great seasoning We all had lively conversation, we could hear each other and the wait staff perfectly attentive one of our favs
Hadn't been here for 20 years--still great!
Last time I went to Paolos it was over 20 years ago; while those were evening visits, this lunch time one was just as good. Attentive staff, good food, decor the same but still contemporary. Might just go back to check out the night time scene too!
A bit of a disappointment this time ...
We ate at Paola's last Christmas-time (2014), and it immediately became my favorite G'Town restaurant. This time, we were a bit disappointed - things did just not seem as perfect as they had been a year ago. My veal was very good, but those who ordered the individual pizzas were not happy with them. The house wine was seriously lacking. The bread (which had been an amazing experience in and of itself a year ago) was not special. And the service was only adequate - our reserved table wasn't ready, the appetizer was a long wait, and two of the dinner orders came wrong. It's too expensive a restaurant to not have a wonderful experience!
Good neighborhood restaurant with great service
Paolo's is a good restaurant with great service. My wife had pasta and I the lamb shank, both very good but a bit over priced. Wine list is acceptable but not remarkable, and the mark up is 2-2.5 so standard for a restaurant.
We have been to this restaurant many times and the food was OK. The last time and it is going to be the last time we go!! The food was horrible, we ordered the salmon and it was completely over cooked so we returned it and had to wait around 20 more minutes and it came back burned again. My husband ordered the risotto and it was really bad and the portion was like a kids plate. We were extremely dissapointed and unfortunately the next time at Georgetown Paolo's will not be in our choice of restaurants.
Savory and delicious, as usual!
Thank you again for a wonderful dining experience! The service was wonderful and the food amazing!
Nice brunch, but too pricey.
While Paolo's had a delicious brunch with outstanding service, the prices are outrageous. Georgetown is full of quaint restaurants with delicious food that don't require you to empty your bank account. It was not worth the price for me.

Best gosh darn spaghetti and meatballs in town. Delightful restaurant , great location. Service on point. We had a party of five and all ordered different pastas all amazing
The bar staff was not knowledgeable on the menu.
Food comes out very fast. Chicken parm was mediocre. Great charcuterie platter, although no one explained each of the items to us.
Paolo's is consistently great- a real Georgetown gem! I have been here many times for many different occasions and I am never disappointed. The food is great and portion size is just right (you actually get food on your plate here!) and I am a real fan of the bread and fresh tapenade that greets you right away. There really is something for everyone on the menu (healthy fish, rib sticking pasta and great meat dishes). You can come here for a boozy brunch with friends and have a blast or you can dine with family and small kids for a special dinner- really fits all occasions and customers! ALSO, service is on point and cheerful.

They were out of the lasagna, which two of us planned on getting. Very disappointing especially as it was on a Saturday night during peak hours. Would not go back.

Fun place that I do really like, however the waitress forgot to put in one of the orders (although she was very nice about it and bought it for us) and the food took a really long time to come out, although when it did it was delicious!
But when the windows to the street are open, it's very loud. Lots of trucks roll up and down Wisconsin Avenue.
Great Restaurant in Georgetown
Paolo's is a great restaurant just off the busy M Street. Food and service are great, the ambiance is good and the noise level is reasonable as well as the price. I recommend it for a nice evening out.

Delicious! Best spaghetti and meatballs. Atmosphere wonderful. If you are in the mood for good Italian food this is the place to go!
Great little spot!
We love this place for romantic nights out in Georgetown! There is outdoor seating, and good appetizers and food! The menu has so many choices and never disappoints.
The service here is excellent. The waiter was very attentive and another person was dedicated to filling water glasses throughout our meal - this was very much appreciated. The food is decent. Prosciutto with Melon was fabulous, please do not miss this if it is in season.
The service and staff were TERRIBLE. The waitstaff gave off a very homophobic vibe so my girlfriend and I were very uncomfortable dining here. We had to ask for everything and we had to ask whoever walked by because there was no consistent waiter. They also seated us in a very noisy area. Anytime a busboy wanted to put away silverware (which was often) we had to stop talking until he was done. Even the hostess was extremely rude. After all the frustration with the terrible service and staff, I was disheartened to discover that the food was nothing special.
Though, the server was very friendly and attentive, everything else was regretable. My experience started on the wrong foot with two hostesses who were highly confused, ineffective communicators, and horribly organized. Both of them seemed clueless, or perhaps they were just overwhelmed. However, given the emptiness of the restaurant, I don't see how. Also, both hostesses kept overlooking the fact that my party was standing at the front. After being skipped 4 times, I was forced to interrupt the seating of other patrons and let everyone know that my party had been waiting. I was very confused as to how no one at any point saw us. Lastly, I didn't enjoy my food at all. I didn't finish anything and ultimately left hungry. I actually stopped for Chiptole less than 30minutes later. The only reason I took my food to-go was to give to a homeless man on the street. All-in-all, it was a wasted bottomless brunch and a waste of $30. If I had to sum up the experience in one word..."Meh."

Great spot for Anytime...
My friend and I both got fruit to start and shared the frittata and pizza. Both were great but the frittata should have come with a side salad or something else. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. We sat for while after we finished just chatting and the managers were great with refilling coffee and waters. The brunch menu includes bottomless mimosas - I just wish there was a lesser option for non-alcohol menu. All in all a great time.
I went here for Sunday brunch on one of the first sunny days of the spring. We got a table outside on the patio and I felt like I was somewhere in Europe. Our waitress was very attentive (but not in an annoying way). She did a great job of explaining the brunch menu and kept our mimosa glasses full. The portions were on the large side, but it was perfect for an OMG-I-am-starving brunch. We can't wait to go back!
The food was very good, the waitress was great. The kitchen was backed up which made for a long delay.
