IT IS JUST TOO LOUD!!!!!! I COULD NOT HEAR THE PEOPLE WITH WHOM I DINED.
Very comfortable authentic Upper East Side Italian restaurant. Nice wine list and the menu covers most all Italian specialties in a clean airy setting. Fried artichokes are as good as you'll find in Rome. Looks to be very popular with locals. We dined here twice in one week and look forward to returning.
Super Upper East Side Italian
Paola's is a wonderful Italian restaurant on the Upper Eastside. The food's amazing; as is the service. This was my 2nd visit & it's becoming my NY fav! Don't miss it for the dining experience of your life!

Easily one of my favorite restaurants in NY
Although Paolo's is located in the quieter part of NYC known as Carnegie Hill, this is a special place. Ambiance is upbeat but elegant, the service is friendly and responsive and the menu never disappoints. Start with the grilled artichokes and it's one reason to go back time and time again followed by one of the best bolognese pastas as well. Love this restaurant.
We are treated so well at Paola's. The food is delicious. The ambiance is serenely delightful and the service is respctfully excellent. The noise level is like Grand Central at Rush Hour.

Paola's is terrific
This restaurant is one of our favorites. Everything about it is well done - the food is absolutely delicious, the service is extremely professional and friendly, the wine list is impressive and the room is lovely. Paola runs a first class restaurant - the only problem is that it is no longer a secret and we have to plan ahead to eat there!

The food is consistently delicious!! Service is attentive. Ambiance is wonderful! I love the fresh roses on the table! Always a favorite place for a quiet romantic dinner or meeting with friends!!
Dinner after the Guggenheim
We shared two appetizers: seafood salad and the Sauteed Mushrooms with Goat Cheese and Honey. They were both delicious. For the main course, I had the veal chop, which was excellent and my friend and the veal tonnato. All in all, it was an excellent dinner.

Paola's is a terrific restaurant. What makes it so special is that the owner, PAOLA is actually there -- thoughtfully with her EYE watching over her place. Making sure everything is JUST SO. Quite special these days when such a rare thing exists when a restaurant owner is on site. EXEMPLARY!
Amazing ambiance & food & great service!
I went there with 3 girlfriends and we had a great time. The food was fantastic! High quality, well balanced menu and great Italian taste. Our waiter Peter was the best in class. He was funny, was very attentive and looked after us very well. I am definitely going back and will recommend this restaurant to all my friends!
Lovely place, great food.
We went for my daughter's 18th birthday on a weeknight. The place is very clubby, quiet and classy. The food is excellent, traditional Upper East Side Italian. Vegetarian daughter had plenty of vegetable and pasta choices. Jewish artichokes were perfect. A heavy hand with truffles on a mushroom appetizer, which those who ordered them were happy about. The desserts were good, but not special. Still, an excellent meal, and a solid celebration. But pricey.
Rushed but satisfied
We loved the fish (Branzino) and the dessert, berries with Zabione sauce was amazing....we just felt like the food came a little too fast and that they were trying to turn the table over. However, we ended up enjoying ourselves as people starting clearing out, no one bothered us!
Our Favorite Restaurant
Everything is great about this restaurant! It is our favorite in the city.
The staff from the maitre d to the person who refills your water are so gracious and attentive. The food is reliably fantastic. I've been a few times now and it's the perfect neighborhood restaurant. While it's not inexpensive, the portions are ample and I've never had anything that was less than perfect. They will happily substitute gluten free pasta too. When the oysters were a special, they were the freshest I've had in a long time. If I could complain about anything, I miss the booths from its previous owner. However, everyone enjoys their meal so much that I've met some very interesting people who are happy to ask or tell what they are eating. My new favorite restaurant.

We've always really liked Paola's. The last time we visited was no exception. We frequently order the same dishes because they're so good but every time I try something new I love it. It makes it difficult the next time I visit because I don't know what to choose. Perhaps I should just close my eyes and point a finger in the direction of the menu. I'm sure I would be happy with the random selection. The people are very friendly too and I mean staff as well as patrons.
Excellent neighborhood restaurant. deserving of a shlep from the not close area where we live. Everything we had was very, very good!
Tops in New York
Paola has a wonderful kitchen. Her pastas are freshly made, and are consistently served with the best accompaniments and correct consistency. Trofie with pesto is the perfect example. The trofie is terrific on its own, but the pesto is tastier than in Liguria! All dishes that come out of her kitchen are done to perfection. New Yorkers know to flock here. Be sure to make a reservation!!

Wonderful, authentic Italian food I the UES. Food exceeded expectations. Attentive service. Beautiful and comfortable decor.
Late night find turned fave!
Had the most amazing meal here last Thursday night. Service was excellent and couldn't ask for a more romantic set up. Must try the Calamari In Padella and Agnolotti Am Tartufo!!! Ridiculously good.
Dinner following Works and Process
We went to Paola's after Works and Process at the Guggenheim on a Monday evening on Martin Luther King Day. It was a cold blustery night and I was amazed to see so many people in the restaurant. The food was very good, as was the service.
Sophisticated meets casual for delicious fare
Perfect spot for anytime of day. Always warm and comfortable but with a heightened sense of chic and savvy. Very NYC in the best way possible.

Superb pastas and other Italian fare in a polished setting on upper Madison. Always a gracious dining experience. Paola herself is great. The problems with this place are the elderly, UES clientele and loud surfaces of the room.
quiet, appealing atmosphere
I have had the seafood salad two times for lunch and it's a delicious and very generous combination of scallops, squid, shrimp. The berries for dessert were fresh and complimented by zabaglione or vanilla ice cream. My friend and I were able to relax and talk without being disturbed for several hours, and we appreciated this very much.
Paola's - Carnegie Hill
After nearly 25 years, visited my old neighborhood to find this lovely restaurant where my husband and I had brunch with our 2 sons who live and work in NYC. (We came from CT.) Lovely decor, excellent service and very good food so I would highly recommend.... Don't see how one could go wrong as this is a gem in Carnegie Hill.
A gem on upper East Side
Visited twice two years ago on my last visit to NYC and was very impresssed. Have just re- visited Paola's and the whole experience was every bit as good from ambience to service to excellent food and wine. Well worth a trip slightly out of the centre of NYC. They've won me.
While I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner, my friend and I were surprised and disappointed to see a surcharge added for splitting an appetizer salad. Given what the dinner cost (and that there was no mention of a surcharge on the menu for this) it seemed somewhat tacky and left a bad taste in what was otherwise a lovely dinner. Indeed, I will add that the waiter offered to divide the salad for us in the kitchen. It's little things that make the difference and I'm not sure that I will return because of this.

Dinner out with my daughter. Felt like we were in good hands immediately. Food and service were excellent. A few biscottis with coffee would have been perfect.
Delicious, authentic, comfortable, good value
This is most definitely a neighborhood gem, wish it were in my neighborhood. Dishes prepared perfectly, presented beautifully. I love that when my husband and I wanted to share 2 dishes, we were each served a half portion, no need to pass plates back and forth. I also appreciate that the noise level was low enough to allow conversation. I'm so tired of trying to talk over loud noise. This means that this restaurant attracts an older crowd.
Delicious classic Italian
This UES Italian has what many don't: a very credible take on the way the originals should actually taste - the vitello tonnato, the pappardelle al'ragu and the tiramisu are examples to taste. There are some real gems on the wine list, look for them.
I come here often. Food and service are consistently good.

Most gracious service! First time we didn't have a reservation, next time we did. Same warm greeting and accommodation. The food is wonderful. I've had the snapper, linguini and clams, oysters, and even the tartufo for dessert are just done that much better. I only wish the seating was not so close and that there were some times that were more private and quieter. But I will definitely return regardless.
