About Palm Court Grill at The Davenport Hotel
The Palm Court Grill continues to serve the highest-quality food at a price that makes fine dining accessible to everyone. Its menu features choice cuts of USDA prime beef and freshly caught fish along with the region's finest wines and select ingredients that sample the bounty of the Northwest. The restaurant's private dining rooms have provided the graceful setting for wedding rehearsal dinners, birthdays, luncheons, and get-togethers for generations of guests. For smaller groups and people watchers, the tables in the historic lobby next to the hearth offer a mix of coziness and palatial grandeur. Meals for every appetite are served throughout the day. The Palm Court Grill also continues to uphold another estimable tradition: the Crab Louis salad, created and made famous nearly a century ago by Chef Edward Mathieu and loaded with tender Dungeness crab, is still served according to the original recipe — with, of course, a dash of contemporary spice.

Palm Court Grill at The Davenport Hotel Ratings and Reviews
Very nice lunch.
The cheeseburger was fabulous. The fireplace room is beautiful. We very much enjoyed our lunch.
My only complaint is that we arrived at 12:30pm on a Sunday. I had called ahead to make sure we could get breakfast at that time. I was assured we could. When we arrived, we were told that we could only have lunch. I was so embarrassed as my guests were in town and specifically wanted the lox and bagels. Our waitress was a lovely gal, but did not even attempt to see if the kitchen would consider putting the order up for us.
Fair food in an amazing environment
The setting, the Historic Davenport. You would expect amazing service and food above average given the price you pay. Instead, we had a server who started out aloof, but finally warmed up a bit and food that was ok, but not up to par. I ordered the French Dip and it did come with prime rib cooked to order (although I ordered medium and it was close to rare in parts), but the horseradish cream was tasteless. The shoestrings fries were fine, but they are fries. My cocktail was above average. Overall, it is worth a try because you are in the opulent Davenport. In hind sight, I should have ordered the Sunday brunch, but didn't really want to spend over $40 for one meal. If you go, try to sit in the lobby and be surrounded by history and beautiful architecture. In the actual restaurant, it is slightly fancy diner-esque. I will return, but will sit in the lobby, order differently and take in the beauty around me. Added perk, if you spend at least 10 dollars (hard not to) and keep your receipt, you will get free valet parking to feel fancy.
We were very much looking forward to dinner here, but ended up so disappointed. The steak that we had was quite good, nicely grilled. However, both orders of prime rib were served cold and the mashed potatoes with them were also cold and appeared to be quite old!! The salmon was decent, but not exceptional. Service was ok, but waiter spilled salad dressing all over my wife's jacket! Will not return, a better experience could be had at a fast food restaurant!!
Wonderful atmosphere, good food
My husband and I came here for date night. We had a nice bottle of wine and split calamari as an appetizer. He had prime rib that was very delicious. I had salmon that was good. For dessert we split an Apple crisp that was very yummy. We never felt rushed out of there. I would have liked to see our server more often but he did a sufficient job. We had a nice dinner before going to the symphony.

Wonderful and romantic spot for a late Valentines celebration. Menu items are spot on, and my prime rib was truly amazing. The marble in the main room makes for a bit of a noisy experience, but we were quickly and easily moved to a quiet and comfortable corner.. The staff were attentive and pleasant. Definitely a dining experience to remember.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Maybe not the most trendy spot but, classic gourmet dining experience with the amazing historical environment!
The food was not good, not warm, and dry ...
The food was not good, not warm, and dry. Was shocked that the Davenport would serve food that bad. The service from the waitress was great.
Very nostalgic. My parents spent their wedding night at the Davenport in 1944. Beautiful setting. Spokane's gem to be proud of!
Couldn't have asked for more
Very pleasant staff, professional and attentive. The food was excellent. My wife and I were very pleased with our dishes. Excellent ambiance for a nice date, dim lighting, not too noisy, and nice colors and tones in their paint and decor. We will certainly visit again.
We love the Historic Davenport hotel. This is the second year we spent our anniversary here. We had a lovely table by the fireplace. The only complaint we had was our food,( we had the halibut) was not hot, actually the halibut was hot but the rice and beans were not.
Special Occasions at the Palm Grill
Whether it is our anniversary, a romantic dinner, a birthday celebration with a dear friend, I always would select the Palm Street Grill. I love the Davenport - the complimentary car parking, the long stem rose for a special occasion, the gift shop. The only thing I haven't experienced is staying in one of the rooms over night, and I hear the are beautiful, just my style. Our dinner was excellent, our waitress attentive and she even treated me to a dessert for my birthday. We will be back again.
Hosted a group of 8 for a party. Great job from start to finish. Waitstaff knew when to step in, and when to step back. ordered a special birthday cake, well done. Food was first rate, every entree was enjoyed.
expensive and not good
Food was cold and not prepared as requested. Potatoes tasted like they were warmed up from the night before, and the crab (for an additional 9.5 had shells in it and I got maybe enough for 2 bites.
Not special enough.
Our food was just lukewarm, and the lobby was cold and drafty.
Great Food and Historical Atmosphere
Had my third lunch of the holiday season at the Davenport this past Wednesday. The gorgeous setting helped us hang on to the Christmas Season for another day. We were lucky and got a table in the lobby by the fireplace. Had a cup of vegetable beef soup and then the crab cake appetizer as my entrée. I was really hungry so it was perfect. Both were delicious and the server caught the fact that the Remoulade sauce has dairy after I mentioned to him that I was allergic . I really appreciated that. I would not have thought to ask about the Remoulade. Be sure to stop in their gift shower. The flower shop is expensive but really incredible & unusual arrangements.
Woe unto you if you receive Courtney as your server. She forgets whatever you ask her to provide (water, coffee, etc). Delivers the bill halfway thru the meal prior to desserts and then disappears. Finally had to go to the hostess station to pay. Good food, poor service. Having been there a few times, the service is decidedly better in the evening. Just ask for a different table if you get Courtney.
Festive ambiance, salty food
I brought my family here for Christmas dinner. The davenport was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We got to sit out in the central area and enjoy looking at all the Christmas trees. In between courses grandpa took my three year old for a walk upstairs looking over the balcony which was fun. My dinner was not very good. Soup was very salty. Turkey dinner was also very salty and kinda gross. I do not recommend their food if you are a foodie. And it was very overpriced for unappetizing food.
Menu is uninspired--not for foodies.
The setting is gorgeous. Our waiter was top notch. The food was...okay. Not bad. Nothing to send back. Nothing to give high praise.
Not up to normal standards
We had a party of 12 arriving on time, for Christmas breakfast at 1015, service was good, however, we were not served until after noon. Manager and server did the best they could but food was fair at best. Holiday meals at the Davenport have been a tradition, but this is the second year that service on Christmas day was not up to par. We often recommend the Palm Court to friends but probably not for a holiday meal.
I wonder why on Christmas Day breakfast we could not sit in the lobby area. I am guessing it is a lot of extra work for the servers. The food was good but portions could be a little larger. Maybe the smaller portions are due to many patrons not completing their meals. Ambience great! The Davenport is such a remarkable place for Spokane!
elegant break from downtown shopping!
What a gift! Set in the Davenport Hotel quiet seating by the bar amid the Old World elegance, of the Davenport's lobby. Beautifully decorated for the Christmas holidays. Great food and wonderful service!
The breakfast was delicious. Wish there ...
The breakfast was delicious. Wish therehad been a little more gravy on the biscuits, but a great flavor none the less. French toast was very good also. Service was upbeat and excellent.
Christmas tree luncheon
We travel yearly to sip wine eat delish food, walk amongst the trees. We saunter thru the hotel enjoying the architecture walt and Karen worthy libby collection. It's a great way to envigorate ones soul for the Christmas season..
Check in and server
Restaurant was busy. We had friends from Portland that we met for dinner. The table they sat us at was unacceptable and we asked to be seated some where else. The gal at the desk argued with me until some else moved us. The dinner was enjoyable but my friend had to ask three times for a straw. Why is my visit to the Palm Court on 10/29 still pending?
As busy as the restaurant was when we were there, they had our table ready prior to our reservation time. Beautiful setting, wonderful service and excellent food.
Classic Ambiance & Delicious Menu
We enjoy dining here on nights we attend the symphony, or if we have friends visiting from out of town. The Davenport Hotel is a historic treasure and the Palm Court Grill has excellent service and a menu to fit the setting. It is especially beautiful and festive during the holidays.
A Little Disappointed
I had late Thanksgiving company arrive from out of town and didn't have time to put together a proper dinner so I made reservations at Palm Court and had their Turkey Dinner special and I was disappointed. The dark meat was over cooked and the white undercooked. The vegetable dish included zucchini that was overcooked compared to other vegetables in the mix, there was a mushroom or something in the dressing that was slimy and unchewable. I know that they have a fine reputation and one of my guests ordered a salmon dish which was excellent so I am going to just pass this off to their kitchen simply not being prepared to offer this one day specialty menu item.
Great food, atmosphere and service.
I have had dinner at The Davenport Palm Court Grill on a few occasions now. Each time the food, atmosphere and service were exceptional. My guest has fish, poultry and beef dishes, with soups and salads. Everyone enjoyed themselves. High recommend.
I made a reservation for my birthday dinner thinking Palm Court Grill would be a different and classy dining experience. I mentioned on the reservation form that it was my birthday and I was hoping for a really nice table that was quiet, maybe cozy and/or by a window. There was no mention of that when we arrived and they sat us adjacent to a table of 5 in an almost empty restaurant. We had to ask to move just so we could be a little further from the other table. The dining room is nice enough but we didn't care for the atmosphere and the décor is forgettable. The waiter was just ok. We had to ask him for a wine list since he didn't offer it. The food was pretty good but nothing I would return to the restaurant for. All in all it was disappointing and far from a special birthday dinner. One thing, though, is that we saw several full tables by the fireplace outside of the restaurant in the hotel lobby. Those tables would have been a MUCH more enjoyable place to dine and I wish we had been offered a cozy table out there.
We enjoyed the Early Bird dinner, it was amazing. Children's menu appears typical but the food was exceptional. Food portions were perfect for adults and children. Wait staff very good. Definitely a place to go for a special occasion.
A Day with Family
The ambiance of dining in the main room of the Davenport Hotel is stunning and almost old world. The decor is ornate and takes you back to a time of elegance. The wait staff are courteous and very assistive. You feel pampered. The selection of food for lunch spanned from the most common to some very rare and delightfully intriguing choices. I dined on a dungeness crab salad that was very well prepared, with plenty of crab. I also had a jumbo prawn coctail that was delicious. If you haven't been to lunch there, I highly recommend it.
Saturday Night at the Davenport
Made reservations for dinner. Notified server on tight schedule to meet theater curtain nearby. Thomas accommodated our expedited service. Excellent filet mignon. Sides a bit skimpy. Excellent service. Nice ambience but noise level a bit disconcerting. Entrees start for most part at $35. Cocktails $11.
Consistent quality. The food always excellent.
Consistent quality. The food is always excellent. The hostess greeting could be improved and make a point to offer whatever specials are available even if you think the customer is aware of such offerings.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience and it made our 31st anniversary somthing special. A special thank you to the staff and our server. The food was excellent and the setting in the Davenport made our time there absolutly wonderful.
Very friendly, but overworked server. D ...
Very friendly, but overworked server. Delicious scallops! A little noisy, but tolerable. Great dinner experience overall.
Great for date night
Dined here with my hun for a fancy night out and it was wonderful. The atmosphere was sophisticated and our waiter was awesome. The food was, of course, delicious and the prices were reasonable for a night out. You also get free valet parking with a $10 purchase (which you will definitely do). There was a group having dinner in another room across the way so that created some noise, but other than that it was a perfect evening.
As always, we received great food and service at the Palm Court Grill. It is definitely a "special occasion" place for us. We don't mind spending a bit more for our anniversary.
Our server was awesome! Top notch. He went well above and beyond the call of duty for us. A real credit to your establishment.
Davenport Hotel, Palm Court Grill
Excellent food in a historic setting. If you love historic surroundings this is a great setting. The salmon was delicious and the service was excellent.
