Pacifica Del Mar Ratings and Reviews

Exceptional service, great food, and an awesome view
I love this place!
Awesome food, great service, spectacular view. I am never disappointed, whether breakfast, lunch or dinner, the food and service are always wonderful. I always recommend this restaurant for my business lunch/dinner.
Pacifica Del Mar is an Old Favorite
Pacifica Del Mar is an old favorite best known for Happy Hour on Sunday and Monday that lasts all evening. I've been there for dinner twice this past month. The food is really good ... has all the right flavor profiles. Make sure if you like something rare, you ask for rare. I ate with someone who complained it was overcooked, but I don't remember them asking for rare. Anyway, I am exceptionally happy with most of the new staff. It's really fun to go for a drink before at the bar, you can ease into the dining room afterwards. Book the right time and you will earn 1,000 points on Open Table! We own stores in Del Mar, so this is a perfect location for us. But even if you have to travel, it's worth the trip!

Consistent high quality food with great sunset views. Wine selection is very good and the staff knowledgeable and friendly.
No blue cheese !!
Birthday lunch - ordered hamburgers with blue cheese - none available. Waiter then brought to the table a container of crumbles. Most disappointing as we were looking forward to their wonderful hamburger. Waiter excellent, ambiance perfect.

Great wait staff, memorable seafood, super ambience, ocean view, will keep this on the must go list when visiting Del Mar
I would pass on Pacifica
The food was mediocre. The service was good (and the view was nice). However, there are too many nice restaurants with excellent food to settle.
Was there for lunch, menu selection is excellent, food was outstanding, Salmon entree & lobster BLT met our expectations, they have a covered porch with a view of the ocean, service was excellent.

I found the ambience and atmosphere to be both inviting and elegant. The bar was just busy enough to be entertaining and dining area quiet enough to enjoy a nice meal and conversation with friends. All of our meals were delicious and elegant looking. The wine was amazing. There are a couple exotic fruit drinks that were quite tasty that we enjoyed at the bar. And the view of the ocean was absolutely spectacular even on a less than perfect night.

Great location to watch a sunset while enjoying some of the best preparations of seafood in the San Diego area. Great wine selection presented uniquely on an iPad. A knowledgeable and friendly wait-staff is a plus.

Excellent service, excellent food. Our server Baja was very attentive to our needs. We were there with our elderly parents and he gave them extra attention. He helped make our Easter brunch a very memorable experience. Thank you!
Great View! Great food! Great service!
Went for Easter brunch great choices and the staff was amazing. Making reservations was a great idea we were sat right away! I highly recommend

One of my Favorites
Recently ate at Pacifica Delmar and and continue to be impressed every time. Dined with my girlfriend and her daughter. Service was terrific, the food outstanding and the ambiance perfect. Ordered the Sea Bass and my gf had the scallops. The children's chicken in the kids menu was unbelievable. It was really a perfect night and the service was terrific. I will clearly make this a routine stop when visiting San Diego.

We had the tasty beet salad and fabulous baked oysters for starters and the scallops and mahi for entrees along with Pacifica's sourdough bread. Everything was top-notch. Plus, their wines by the bottle were half-price on Thursdays - great bargain. Loved everything.
Coop was great! We will be back!
Nice atmosphere, great food and wonderful service. Enjoyable patio dining with ocean views.

I always enjoy dinning at Pacifica Del Mar as the quality of the seafood and the location cannot be matched anywhere else.
Wonderful for out of town guests
We love Pacifica and we take many out of towners here for the food and scenery. We LOVE the salmon. Always a winner.
Went for the first and probably last time; the food was mediocre, the service was slow; it didn't have a fun vibe. We were all very disappointed.
Excellent but tables on patio too close together
This restaurant is a must if you are even within 20 miles of Del Mar! The food is consistent and excellent, including the desserts. Try to sit on the patio although the tables are close. The view at sunset is amazing. Prices are high but well worth the experience.
Dinner overlooking the waves
Not close enough to the ocean to hear the waves but a fantastic view as you enjoy a well prepared meal. Service was very good with the server giving great recommendations based on the kind of things you liked. Food was very good. We had the sea bass and were not disappointed. Well worth a visit.
The food is overpriced and mediocre at best. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is only fair which is particularly disappointing considering its location. The only bright spot was our server who did a nice job.
Disappointed old customer
Used to be one great restaurant, now is just an overpriced place. My favorite dish was the mulligatawny soup... This time it was not worth eating, watery and without taste..... The service is always good as is the location, but the value is not there. Spending over $100 (2 dinners) for a watery soup with no taste at all and a small portion of fish over half a dozen green beans is ridiculous. Have you changed chefs? Anyway, was very disappointed. Overall Pacifica is always very good. Food was good but not what I'd consider excellent or memorable... atmosphere outside is lovely but high noise level
Have never been disappointed at Pacifica Del Mar
My husband had the filet of beef, my daughter and I had the salmon and we split the semi freddo for dessert. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful, the service was impeccable and the food was divine. I have no complaints and we saw a gorgeous CA sunset which is why I always pick a restaurant with a view (at least, most of the time). We will be back again!
The food is always very good and our server, Susanne was wonderful as always.
I was recently traveling along and am a HUGE foodie. Normally I wouldn't splurge on just myself but having never seen the Pacific I couldn't pass up an ocean view dinner. I did the early seating and the sunset dinner menu and it was amazing. Good service, spectacular sunset view, best salmon I have EVER had, delicious dessert. I hope someday I get the opportunity to take my husband there with me!!

Porcini Dusted Scallops are NOT on the Sunset Menu
Although we came expecting to pay more for our Sunset Dinners and Shrimp Cocktail, we also were planning to have the Porcini Dusted Scallops as shown on the Sunset Dinners Menu from the online menu (which has still not been changed.) We did pay more but were quite disappointed to be informed by our extremely apologetic server that the scallops were not a part of the Sunset Dinners Menu. The Shrimp Cocktail and Sugar-Spiced Salmon was prepared perfectly. P.K. was terrific. The sunset was beautiful.
Al fresco dining
very nice view of the ocean and nice breezes I recommend their specials....
I really like the setting for this restaurant, which is in a quiet neighborhood not too far from the beach. The upper level where the restaurant sits gives great views and there is an outdoor deck for dining as well. The food was good, but nothing really blew me away. I was disappointed in the wasabi clam chowder that I ordered, which had some great flavors but was very gritty. Overall, I would come here again.
Back for more
Hadn't been here for awhile, but was glad I came back. I don't eat shellfish , bottom dwellers, or anything with suckers, but there were still numerous choices for a fish lover. The Sugar-spiced Salmon was done perfectly, as was the seared rare ahi. Shared the green salad, and the waitperson sensed to split the salad. Service was efficient, polite, and when carrots arrived instead of the broccolini, the waitperson immediately and apologetically brought out a side dish of broccolini that was large enough to feed the crew of a fire engine. Sat in an "indoor-outdoor" seat, which would have had a spectacular sunset view if it wasn't nighttime. $$$$.

We always have a nice time at Pacifica. This time we couldn't sit out on the patio because of the noise level. Way too loud! However, we will go back.

It was a perfect sunset at Pacifica this evening and we had a prime seat outside. Our waitress was extremely attentive without being overbearing. The scallops were excellent and my wife really enjoyed her chicken (I would suggest sticking with the seafood at a seafood restaurant but my wife does not love it) - all around a great anniversary dinner on a gorgeous San Diego night.
There were 4 in our group. We were seated right away. The wait staff seemed friendly but frenzied. Did not appear to be enough staff to cover the tables. 2 out of 4 dinners were good. the other 2 had the special tortilla crusted Mahi which was dry and flavorless. The beet salad came with no dressing. Seating was clearly at a premium, the tables were very close together. Noise level was high. Not a good place for an intimate dinner.
Came here for the first time and I loved it! I will be definitely be coming back. The salmon was amazing, must try!
Small portions not worth the $$$$
I brought my wife here for Valentine's dinner thinking this would be a nice romantic evening for us. We went early (4:30p) to get a nice table by the glass wall to view the sunset. All of the glass wall tables were taken. We were seated off to the side of the large conference type seating area where my wife sat on a bench seat and I sat across from her on a chair. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive to our needs but not overbearing. We ordered the calamari appetizer and shared it. It was definitely enough for two. We asked for chop sticks to eat the calamari with so the waiter searched for some and found them behind the bar. Our salads came out next with little enthusiasm and dismal presentation. Just small bits of Romaine lettuce plopped on the plate. For the kind of money I was about to spend I expected more. This was the start of an even more disappointing main entrée. I ordered the sea bass. I received maybe a 4 oz. cut thinly sliced and overcooked piece of white fish on top of a cafeteria scooped smashed down mash of rice mush smothered in a lite curry sauce. I had to eat very slowly in order to not finish before my wife. She had the sweet and spicy salmon over burnt green beans and mashed potatoes. I could have cooked this same meal for less than $60 myself. One virgin mojito later and we walked out of there spending $120 for a meal that was not filling, not visually appealing and not even close to the caliber of restaurant I was expecting Pacifica would be. This was an expensive lesson to learn for next years Valentine's dinner. Next year I will rent a room with a beautiful view and cook dinner myself instead.
As always great place.
Great experience. Took wife for Valentine's Day and sat overlooking the ocean. Fish oysters and appetizers were just what was expected w nice presentation. Very romantic
