ORSO Ratings and Reviews
Close to the PAC for nightly entertainment. Great food!

We came in for pre-PAC performance appetizers and drinks. As always, the service was attentive and the ambiance special. We had the the chowder, of course, because it is so thick, rich and delicious. I was disappointed in my appetizer. The seafood corn dogs left much to be desired. They were predominantly mushy fill with little seafood. I know I was taking a change with "corn dog", but I expected so much more from ORSO. Because of the price of the entrées, we tend to get appetizers. It would be nice for a larger variety of them.
I won't be back. Gift certificate.
I was disappointed in the meal. Salad very good, steak okay but the sides were not that good! Service excellent. I took a guest from Juneau for dinner.

Orso is my go-to restaurant. I like the ambiance and food is always dependable --up until this time. The rib-eye was almost inedible--extremely fatty, and grisly. How they could serve a piece of meat this poor, I do not know. The scampi was also lacking--very little sauce, and lacking all the flavor that it usually has. I don't know what's going on in the kitchen, but it needs to be fixed. Disappointing. I may need to find another restaurant to go to prior to events at the PAC after this.
Over priced for the amount of food. Seemed as if they were cutting corners. No bread, crackers, or crotons with salad. Small amount of under cooked vegetables. Skimpy piece of fish and steak. Disappointing for the price. However, Server did help with food allergy limitations which was appreciated.
Good service and food, a bit pricy.
Great experience overall, with our two $50.00 gift certificates from our daughter. Great waitress. But when we got home, a question: We had the two specials (rock fish stuffed with crab) this Thursday night listed for $30 each, a bottle of Pinot from Oregon ($41.45 ?) and one Orso Amber and was billed $124.45? I tally that up to $110.40. I didn't look at the details, paid the $124.45 and left a $25.00 tip. Got curious at home. I blame it on the wine.
Exceptional restaurant in Alaska
I highly recommend this restaurant as the food, service, ambiance and drinks were superior in all aspects. We actually came back a few nights later with more friends who had the same experience we did. This is by far one of the best restaurants that we have eaten at all over the U.S.

Amazing food! So glad that we decided to try it out for dinner. I got the Chicken Parm Orso Style which was super juicy and delicious- everything you want in a Chicken Parmesan. Our waitress was attentive and spot on with her recommendations but not overbearing or pushy! Highly recommended!
A nice night out!
Nice decor, good food, great service! First time here and already a fan. Thanks for the great service.
Could have been much better
Was not very pleased with food, service or much of anything with this 200.00 dinner for 4.
Orso used to be a good restaurant
; now I think its menu is old and tired. I would not of gone there but had a gift card. Location to the PAC is the only reason I will go there again.
We were celebrating our 33rd anniversary with dinner at ORSO and a show at the PAC. Our meals were two extremely well prepared seafood dishes, stuffed rockfish and a red salmon fillet. Our drinks, the white wine flight and Brewhouse IPA, complimented our meal which was topped off with a chocolate cream dessert.

On a scale from 1-10 it was a 15!! The food and our server were well beyond our exceptions. The only thing that was offputting was the older, larger, blond hostess that had perfume on so heavy it could stop a truck. We dreaded everytime she walked by because it was so distracting for a very aromatic meal. You might let her know to lighten up on the perfume bottle. Thanks!!

Service was on point but food lacked excitement. I have ate at orsos a few times and know they have a new chef but no changes have been made. Food is just ok.
Good place to eat
Orso is a good restaurant for downtown dining in the evening. We eat there before events at the PAC and have always enjoyed it. The food is good and the service is friendly. The menu changes periodically and some old favorites of mine have been replaced, but overall, it is a good place to eat.
Always a hit!
The food at ORSO is always terrific. My baked halibut was a touch dry, but tasty nonetheless. Our server (forgot her name) was attentive, personable, and efficient.
We went on a Monday at 6:00. It was quiet and the service was attentive. Bread is an add on charge of $4.95 which comes with butter, hummus and a sweet tomato chutney. What happened to free bread with my $40/person dinner??? Filet was small and swimming in sauce which was very salty. Way too much going on in my personal opinion. The seafood Mac and cheese was very rich which I knew it would be. It could have used a lot more pasta to soak up the extra cheesy sauce. We had smoked salmon chowder and a black bean soup which were very good Pet peeve : the waiter picked up the signed check from the table before we made any indication we were leaving. There was no need to rush us. No one was waiting for the table.

It's been a few years since we've eaten at Orso. Still has great service, but the food was surprisingly marginal. Flank steak tasted like charred wood, even though served medium rare as requested. Seafood Mac and cheese was a mixed bag. The Mac and cheese part was quite tasty, but the seafood (baked into to Mac n cheese) was severely over cooked. Pale tasteless tomatoes served on the caprese flatbread. Overall, a disappointing culinary experience.
Very good food!
The staff was wonderful very attentive and very knowledgable on the menu items! Cocktails are very good! No complains here!
Every one enjoyed their meal and my rib eye was done to perfection. Brian was gracious in keeping our coffee cups filled. Our friends were as pleased as well. Thank you for an excellent experience.
Not worth the money
My wife and I were out to dinner for our anniversary. Ordered a steak med rare and it was so charred on the outside I had to send it back. It was clearly burnt and should have never even been brought to the table. All the veggies on the plate were ice cold. Like they had just gotten them out of the refrigerator. My wife ordered a bowl of soup that was never brought out. Just an all over bad experience. We left hungry and a bit upset. We won't be back.
A great time!
This was an outstanding evening! Great service and terrific food!
Our group of 6 had a great time!
There were 6 in our group and we were impressed with the prompt, friendly service and the varied menu. The appetizer tower was a big hit; everyone loved the steak tips, crispy raviolis, and calamari. All 6 entrees we ordered were delicious and the portions were large enough that 3 of us had extra to take home. It was great to find a place that could accommodate our group at one table in an atmosphere conducive to conversation. Thanks! We'll definitely be back!
ORSO's is muey bueno.
I have dined at Orso's many times and each time it is a great experience. I have spent my anniversary, birthday, and just having dinner. Thanks for providing such a unique atmosphere for us sourdoughs!!
I like ORSO!
It was Valentine's Day and we had a late evening reservation. The reason I chose ORSO was because I thought they might not rush us in the same way other restaurants might on a special occasion day and they didn't. Our server was very good, the food was great - as usual- and the wines were nice. It was cold in the restaurant (we had to move tables because a vent was blowing way cold air on us and even then, after moving it was still cold) and the restaurant was too brightly lit, but other than that, the experience was great in every way.
Valentines day and service was excellent.
Got to Orso a little before our reservation and sat in the bar. Service was really good and our table was ready long before our actual reservation. Had a great dinner and the staff was excellent.
Orso's is one of the few four star + restaurant in Anchorage. It's warm and indirect lighting create an intimate atmosphere perfect for a romantic dinner.

Great all around but after our steaks were half eaten, we noticed that we should have switched them. Hers was done as he ordered and his was done as she ordered. Other than that, it was great.
Valentine's Day review
ORSO was a great place for my girlfriend and I to be spending our very first Valentine's Day together. ORSO itself had a nice set up with rose petals on the tables and even a special menu for the day, at a reasonable price. I had secretly reserved a singing quartet as a special surprise, and in calling to confirm, ORSO's employee's were very polite in accomidatting to that. When they did show up, the quartet, our waitress was asking if she could record it for us, but my girlfriend had motioned to decline. Overall very great time. Great atmosphere. Service was good. And ORSOs is the place to be for a special night.
Service was great and food outstanding !excelent choice for a menu ! The ambiencie was great

I always get the beef tenderloin tips as an appetizer and as a meal!!!! LOVE THEM!!
Good for that special night out
Quite expensive by my tastes, but it is definitely a nice spot for a once/year type event (anniversary, valentine's, etc).
