Nostrana Ratings and Reviews
Always a great meal.
Always a great meal.
Even better than expected
This is a very lively vibrant restaurant that was filled to capacity. The service was exceptional and the advise given to us by the server regarding menu options was spot on. The fresh asparagus soup and asparagus ravioli were both stellar and the seasonal crab pizza was also superb. Everyone loved what they ordered. This will definitely be a regular on our restaurant rotation.
Unique and delicious
Top rate service exceptional food what's not to like?
Vacation trip to Portland
On our first trip to Portland and Oregon we choose Norstrana from trip advisor. It was awesome and meet all of our expectations. We loved the atmosphere and the food was wonderful. We had a great server and she helped us in our selections from the menus and wine selection. She even brought tastings of the wine before ordering. I would highly recommend this resturant.
Good food, but a bit loud
We always enjoy the food at Nostrana. We had a four-top on Saturday 4/23. The only disappointment was that it was very hard to hear the person across the table. On a positive note, the amaro tasting flight (on the desert menu) was great!
Thellina as hostess
Thellina makes for a great dining experience. Her personal touch and caring takes it from a nice place to a great place
Good As Usual
Fourth time at Nostrana. Have never been disappointed overall, but a few misses this time. The Capellini was quite bland, while everything else was scrumptious, especially the seafood fettuccine. This trip, since it was packed on a Friday night, it was so loud it made my ears bleed. Other than these two whines, it was another great meal at Nostrana.
Loved this place!
Impeccable service and food. Our waiter was awesome. He was very friendly and attentive to our requests and questions. Thank you!

Radicchio salad is the bomb! Pizza was fantastic and adding arugula adds a nice peppery touch to more basic pizzas. Plus, cutting pizza was scissors a fun novelty. Great wine selection and the open kitchen is awesome for watching pizza dough getting tossed in the air!
Real Italian pizza
I've been waiting to try this place since it opened because I'd heard it was pizza like you'd get in Naples. Great pizza being one of our favorite things, we were not disappointed! Excellent Nostrana salad to start and the fresh ingredients on the pie made for a delicious splurge!
Excellent dining experience!
We loved everything about our dining experience at Nostrana and we will be back! The food was excellent as was the wait staff. We went through about 4 different plate and silverware changes which was a bit over the top, but not a big complaint. Also, the noise level is rather high, so if you are looking for a quiet place to have a conversation, this is probably not your best choice. Other than that, it was great!
No seconds for us
Food was just ok. Service came with a side of attitude. Pricey for what you get. We won't go back
Good food, slow service
The food was really good but the service was pretty slow.
We had not been to Nostrana recently, but we're reminded why we like it. Solid menu, good service and great food at a reasonable price. Great for a special occasion, or drop in fir a seat at the bar and a week night bite. One of Portland's best.
Nostrano never disappoints.
The classic pizza and radicchio salad are our favorites to share. The trout and pork entrees were wonderful. Family from Montana loved it.
A Perfect Dining Experience
I recently visited Nostrana with two friends to celebrate a birthday. Our food was amazing and the service was outstanding. We look forward to returning soon.
Food is consistently good
The food here is consistently good. It can be little crowded and noisy on weekends, but it is great for a weekday lunch.
Portland Essential in Nostrana
The best way to dine here is to take tour of many offerings. The charcuterie platter was over the top good. Focus on many flavors and portions were right on. We started our night with a pizza and enjoyed using scissors to cut the right amount of wood fired and beautifully finished pizza crust. Flat iron steak cooked medium rare finished with arugula and garlic was amazing. Service was right on even during a very busy and active restaurant.
Amazing, as always
We have been going to Nostrana's for the past 10 years, and we have never been disappointed. It's such a great restaurant, and we are reminded of that every time we go.
Just great, all around, food, drink, service et al
Recent return to Nostrana after a year or two away. Food much better and service quite good. Will become a regular again.
Recommended by a very good friend who happens to be Italian. He and we are particular about Italian and it met and exceeded both our expectations. The flow was a little confused at one point but considering the full booking it was acceptable. My wife gambled at the last minute and added a pizza, as an extra. She was delighted. A memorable evening. One minor confusion. The menu listed that a 20% service would be included in the final total. According to my math it was not....perhaps an oversight or not properly noted in the presentation of the bill.
Best Food EVER!!!!!
The charcuterie plate was to die for! Literally, the best pizza I have ever had...Dungeness Crab!! The cocktails were spot on!! Yes yes, please, yes, more please more!!!!
great dining experience
I was very pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere, it was a very approachable restaurant while still being high end. All of the staff was completely helpful and friendly and they were very at tentative to all of our needs. The menu have a lot of great options without being overwhelming and there was something for everyone's tastes and dietary restrictions. It was also a good value for what you received and the price was right. I will definitely be returning, and I will be recommending it to all my friends and family.

Make reservations for this fine dining, rustic, Italian spot. Had a wonderful wine flight with the trout fettuccine, which was purely simple and delicious. My daughter had the Pizza Margarita, she said, "It has thee best mozzarella, and the farm egg on top reminds me of being in Italy". The service was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable.
Why have we never gone before!?
Great drinks and food. Awesome pizza! Fantastic pasta and entrees!

This is one of the best places for lunch in Portland. Loved the fresh salads, cardoon custard, mushroom pizza. Perfect,
Pizza worthy of Italy
After a trip to Italy in which I consumed a pizza a day every day for 2 weeks - I gained about 10 pounds, and then returned to Portland determined to find something equally as delicious. I have tried just about every pizza this town has to offer and declare Nostrana's as by far the closest Portland comes to real Italian pizza (plus you get to cut it with scissors!).

Food and service were excellent. I love the fact that they use local merchants for their food. Bake their own bread and the small extra touches here and there. My new favorite place to go.

Lunch stop after long trip..
We came to Nostrana on a referral from friends after a long trip. Tired and hungry, this was exactly what we needed. Italian comfort food with a great glass of wine. Situated in a quiet neighborhood. It's a gem! Will be back for sure.
Happy, but Not Verry Happy
The food was a bit uneven. Certain things were excellent and others not too good. My tirimasu was mediocre. The entres were both nice, but not awesome. The atmosphere is fun and casual. Solid, but no home run.
A friend referred me to this restaurant who is also from Seattle area and at first I wasn't sure because of the menu but my son and I had a great dinner. Wasn't sure how my friend found it but I loved my pizza with sautéed mushrooms and arugula on it!!
Good execution on Italian with fresh, local ingredients. The use of citrus brought out other flavors. I particularly enjoyed the parmesan cauliflower, which came out very creamy, and the earthiness of the mushrooms in the gnocchi .
Everything was excellent
Have been to Nostrana several times and everything is always excellent! The service is superb and the food outstanding. Especially like the fact that the low noise factor actually allows you to have a conversation with your party without raising your voice or straining to hear what people at the end of the table are saying.
Nice Place - Mediocre Food
Great atmosphere. Great staff. Food is completely average. My wife had a steak. I had pasta and lamb stew. Where's the flavor?
My favorite restaurant in the City
We've had excellent meals in Portland, excellent meals at Nostrana, but our meal Saturday night was hands down the best meals we've had in a long time -- everything. From the first cocktail to the butterscotch budino - perfect. Service = outstanding. Love love love Nostrana.
Quality Food and Service
This was our first time here and loved it. We've heard about this place through friends and reviews and it doesn't disappoint. We made reservations, got seated promptly, server was attentive and friendly, food was delicious, and dessert was divine. The cocktails we had were great and so was wine selection. We would recommend Nostrana and be back here again.
