Dinner before Disney Hall Performance?

Dined on April 24, 2016

If you are in Downtown for a Disney Hall Performance, Noe is a fabulous, romantic, quiet, elegant place for dinner prior to the concert. A short walk to Disney, it's a great place to take a date.

Good French Food

Dined on April 3, 2016

Noe offers good French food, creatively presented in a quiet contemporary setting with moderate lighting, tasteful art, and candles. They offer a respectable selection of wines. The appetizers were uninspiring. I miss their foie gras (no longer on the menu), it was some of the best I ever had. The waiters are warm, attentive people.

Inconsistent quality

Dined on March 19, 2016

We ate at Noe prior to a concert at Disney Hall. Our waiter was pleasant but didn't check in with us as we moved through the meal. Which was a shame, because while my husband's pork chop entry was delicious, my black cod was bland and slimy, accompanied by a tasteless and greasy tempura-fried mushroom and had he showed up, I likely would have sent it back. The fish was pretty much inedible. I was saved because I ordered a side order of Brussel sprouts which were delicious. Good value in that you get a discount in you're going to a show. Poor value given that one of our two meals was inedible.

My wife and I have eaten at this restaurant on numerous occasions and have brought friends here as well. They as well as us have enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a great dining experience at a very reasonable price with outstanding service.

Great pre-opera dining option!

Dined on March 13, 2016

You can walk over to the Music Center, passing the Broad Museum and Disney Hall - very inspiring night time walk! As a subscriber, you can get 15% off with your card. But the real reason is the reasonable and excellent tasting menu, and the fabulous desserts - which they were happy to substitute for what was listed on the tasting menu. Excellent and friendly service. We went back to the bar for a drink after the opera. They give you a parking validation that makes parking there fairly reasonable. Note: we didn't sit outside, but you can. It looked like a very nice option.

Excellent service; our server asked if we were going to a show and made sure we made it in plenty of time. In addition she arranged for our validated parking cover the show so we could walk over and come back later. Great selection of California wines. The food was tastefully presented with attention to nuanced flavors. Overall an excellent experience especially if you have an appointment afterward.

Delightful and Delicious

Dined on February 27, 2016

We had tickets for the LA Phil that night, but wanted to get some dinner first, so we stopped at Noe. What a wonderful experience! I thought the food was perfectly seasoned (local beet salad with Greek yogurt and the seared free-range chicken and roasted veggies), though my husband thought his was just a tad too salty (charred chicories salad and pork chop with broccolini). Service was superb. It was a very tasty and romantic beginning to our evening. We'll definitely go back next time we're in LA.

Delicious!

Dined on February 24, 2016

Really delicious! We had lunch at Otium which was great, but maybe it was what I ordered… I loved Noe even more. I had two appetizers as my dinner: the salad with the hazelnuts, burrata and chicory something and the ahi tartare. My friends loved theirs too (chicken/salmon)...they kept saying so.

Sub Par Experience

Dined on February 14, 2016

Went the night before Valentines Day because the location was close to the opera. On that front, it worked out great. We had no problem getting seated and were walking distance to the theater. What I didn't know was that they had a mandatory Prix Fixe menu for all of Valentines weekend which limited us to some less than stellar options, especially for vegetarians. Nothing was terrible, but it wasn't what we'd been looking forward to. More disappointing, we noticed when we were leaving that patrons in the bar still had access to the full menu, even though our waiter told us that the kitchen was only set up to serve from the prix fixe menu. Other than that, the staff was very attentive, possibly because we got an early reservation so we could make the show so there were less than half a dozen tables seated. Likewise it was quiet but maybe a little too dark. Might give it another shot the next time we go to a show but I'd probably want to check the other options first.

Overcharged

Dined on February 7, 2016

A party of five. The food and atmosphere were fine, but they divided the cost of each item five ways and somehow ended up either including a 20% gratuity or just overcharging each of us $10. Since we were in a hurry to get to the theatre at Redcat, we didn't check the bill until the next day (after we had all added a 20% gratuity). We called and e-mailed but have received no satisfaction.

Excellent spot for pre-show dining for Disney Hall

Dined on February 7, 2016

Great, quiet Couple dinner for pre-show to Disney Hall. Excellent service, decent wine list and the Chief has a nightly special, 3 course meal paired with very nice wine choices. The food was delicious, fresh and interesting. NOE will move to the top of our list for pre-show dining prior to attending a concert at Disney Hall. There is room outdoors for special events and the setting is mature, pleasant and thankfully on the subdued side when it comes to ambient noise.

I had the mac and cheese and the French onion soup and also a seafood entre I can't remember how to spell the rest of the seafood entrees name. All three dishes blocked seasoning and for the soup to have no salt it was just very bland all in all. I was very disappointed with the food altogether.

Not what I was expecting

Dined on January 23, 2016

I came with my girlfriends to celebrate my bday. There was one other table of 6 people, and the place was empty. The waiter was very impatient in getting our orders. He knew it was all our first time, but didn't even explain the menu or give recommendations. He got so impatient, that he left our table and just walked away. Our dinner came, and just after a few minutes, the bus boy kept trying to clear our plates?!!? Our waiter didn't even come by to ask how the food was, or refill on our water. The tab came out to being close to $400 (gratuity was already included). I was so mad because I didn't want to give him that much (18%), but I could not do anything - it was automatically added. I made sure I didn't put any additional tips and signed the bill $398.20. Two days later, I check my bank and it was $477.50. What were they thinking??? I will call my bank and make sure to report this.

Great pre-theater spot

vip
Dined on January 17, 2016

I have season tickets to the Ahmanson and was looking for an alternative from my usual choices within walking distance to the music center. Noe is about a half mile and an easy walk from the music center. It was an excellent choice. When we arrived, the hostess asked if we were pre-theater and communicated that to our service team to ensure the meal was paced to allow time to walk back. The wine by the glass is offered in two pour sizes. I chose 9 oz. because, why not? But you can pay less and order a smaller serving. We ordered a tuna tartare to share and it was delicious and a good size for a shared appetizer. I followed with the cast iron pan chicken which I picked mainly because it comes with cipollini onions and brussels sprouts. I was not disappointed. The sides were delicious as was the chicken. My husband had the salmon over green curry rice. It was also delicious. There is a prix fix menu for $45. All is very reasonable for the quality, ambience and service. I will come back.

Wonderful evening

Dined on September 18, 2015

I can't stop thinking about the excellent meal my wife and I enjoyed just before the LA Opera performance(Gianni Schicchi followed by Pagliacci). She had the foie gras and I had the scallops, and then she had the ribeye and I had the salmon. Both were expertly prepared with tasty accompaniments and the Etude pinot noir complemented all the flavors. The wine list is very comprehensive and favorably priced The ambience was quiet but appropriate and the staff was first-rate. We made it to the opera in plenty of time and thoroughly enjoyed Placido Domingo and our family friend operatic star Andriana Chuchman from Winnipeg, Canada. Will definitely come back when the opera bug strikes again.

My husband & I have eaten here many many times in the last 10 years. It is a very convenient location when dining before Music Center shows. It has gotten better & better, most recently under Chef John-Paul Kuhn. Love the "Tennessee" influence in the Calif cuisine. Love the seasonal menus. Really good food.

Amazing restaurant

Dined on September 5, 2015

I found this place last minute for my girlfriend and I. It was our 3 year anniversary and I didn't know where to take her. This place was very romantic and quiet. It was right in the middle of a few high rise buildings so it seemed very secluded. Almost hard to find. But it was perfect. The menu was seasonal, so there wasn't much to choose from. But the choices they had were very good. The champagne was ordered was very good. Overall, it was a great night. And not too pricy.

Reasonably priced 0K food. I think on a cool summer night the outdoor lounge would be a great place to have dinner. It's not a bad restaurant. My lamb was tuff, my guest fish was cooked nicelyt. To me nothing fantastic, but may go back for out dinning. . The dessert( coconut tapioca) / coffee were great!
