Chef Jared Van Camp has crafted an “obsessively house made” and locally focused bill of fare - while taking influence from Italy, Spain and France, the ingredients and products are sourced exclusively from the Midwest. The vibe is Rock'n'roll bohemian.

The design taking its inspiration from Villa Nellcôte, the notorious Côte d’Azur mansion where the Rolling Stones dined and partied with a rotating cast of 1970s bohemians, socialites, style icons and creative rabble-rousers during the recording of “Exile on Main Street,” Nellcôte is a stunningly elegant playground for anyone looking to indulge their deviant streak. Located in Chicago’s Randolph Street Corridor, this high-energy restaurant takes your breath away with its classic design. But what’s most striking is its total lack of pretension: Beautiful, but approachable, Nellcôte marks a defiant return to classic luxury—but without the attitude.

Always a great cocktail

Dined 3 days ago

Came for a cocktail since I have great drinks here before. It was nice finding a place that could give us a table and provide a quality drink. I have never had their food but the menu looks good.

Very happy with my first visit to Nellcote. It has been on my list for awhile and I shouldn't have waited so long. We had the hanger steak and the salmon - both excellent. Drinks were very good - often find other places water them down with mixers. These were perfectly balanced. Only tried a couple of sides (cauliflower and beet salad) but wanted to try several others. Don't wait - try it out!

Excellent

Dined on April 23, 2016

The donut was the only mildly disappointed thing that I had that day. I tried the Pain Perdu, their lovely mimosa, the lobster hash and their potatoes. All of it was phenomenal. The donut glaze and topping was excellent. The flavor was there. The texture, however, was not. Was a bit dense for my liking. Not fluffy at all. More like a cake(or cake donut) than a donut. Everything else, though, absolutely amazing! The service was excellent as well!

Poor service and food was just ok.

Dined on April 17, 2016

I called ahead with two simple requests to help celebrate a birthday. First was a bottle of wine on the table, second preordered deserts. The restaurant said they were easy requests and no problem. Neither of my requests were done. No wine on the table and no deserts delivered. Very slow and disappointing service. The food was just ok. Will not be returning.

Great Server=Great Meal

Dined on April 10, 2016

Interesting/unique ambiance could have been a little intimidating primarily due to the louder music, but our waitress was awesome. She was great at recommending food to our custom tastes (wasn't just cookie cutter recommendations) and she was friendly and welcoming. Cocktails were good too!

I just love the atmosphere here!

Dined on April 9, 2016

Tasty food at a tapas size portion. Great and friendly service and the decor is so chic. I brought a group of people who have never been and they really enjoyed it! I think it kicked off our evening because the vibe is so energetic and fun, rather than a serious/quiet dinner. It was more a "lets get the weekend started" vibe, which I love. Thanks Nellcote!

The food was interesting which wasn't ideal for my picky pallet. The service was great. Loved how classy the restaurant felt while still having a casual dress code. The restaurant was very dark but created a nice ambiance. Not sure I will be returning anytime soon but definitely enjoyed the experience!

Excellent food and great for brunch

Dined on March 19, 2016

We purchased a gilt city voucher for brunch, which came with a shared plate, 2 entrees and 2 brunch cocktails. Everything was perfect, the charcuterie platter (especially the plum sauce), the pizza, the lobster hash, the donuts, the steak. I can still vividly recall the flavor and the color of the food. We enjoyed all food we ordered and will definitely recommend it to friends. Our waitress Rachel was very helpful and friendly.

The staff was so accommodating. Our party included a toddler and a person in a wheelchair. They had a table ready right by the door, which made it so easy for the wheelchair to roll right up to the table. They had a high chair set out and checked to stroller. Service was great and the food as always was wonderful.

Nice place, good experience

Dined on February 27, 2016

Our experience at Nellcote may be a little different than others because we had a 5:30 reservation on a Saturday (pre symphony dinner). The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived, but filled up steadily over the next hour. Needless to say, the noise level was not at all an issue, and the music was at a very reasonable volume. Our server was attentive and friendly, but not intrusive. The tuna tartare, the salmon and the brussel sprouts were all fantastic. The sauteed mushrooms came with too much polenta (although it was tasty) and not enough mushrooms. The bread was also very good. We had heard so much about the pizza, we couldn't leave without trying it- it was very good, but not quite sure it lived up to the hype. The decor is lovely, and all in all a good experience. I would definitely go back.

Disappointing

vip
Dined on February 24, 2016

Went there on a Tuesday night after work. Our server was very good and attentive. We shared three items. Green salad was very good. Tagliatelle with Bolognese sauce was good, not a red sauce, however. The Skuna Bay salmon tasted fishy and we did not eat it. Our server made an adjustment to the ticket and removed the salad. I expected better food for the cost. I thought the restaurant space is large and with the high cellings and could be very noisy when the tables are so close together. Since it was not very crowded, the noise level was fine.

Great food, not-so-great server

vip
Dined on February 14, 2016

We had dinner on February 14th. The ambiance is romantic with a casual vibe. Our choices were simple and delicious: bread, pizza, pasta and a vegetable dish followed by desserts. The gelato flavors were rich and smooth. However, we only learned that there were specials when we overheard the waitress for the next table explain them as we were finishing our meal. Our server never informed us. Also, we asked for our courses in a specific order which was not the order in which we received them. Finally, although no one was waiting and other tables were available, our meal was rushed, with each course coming out immediately following the previous one. In sum, we had a good meal but missed what should have been a top-notch experience.

Disappointing

vip
Dined on February 13, 2016

We went for Sunday brunch. I ordered Sunnyside up egg pizza. Crust was very nice, but overall flavor was just average. My husband ordered a pizza with sausage, which he found disappointing, although he agreed their crust was good. Afterwards, he ordered a maple bacon doughnut which he said was borderline stale. I ordered mine without bacon, so they appeared to have made it fresh as it came out warm but not entirely cooked through. yuk. The best thing I can say is the Bellini was good. Our server was pleasant and attentive, but taking this one off our list.

incredible brunch at nellcote

Dined on February 6, 2016

I had an early brunch with a friend- he got the burger, I got the lobster hash and we split a donut. we each had our own cocktails (mine was incredible his was okay(the bloody mary was so so)) but the food was so good, and our server was nice and enthusiastic, and helpful, as he helped accomadate my tastes and food restrictions. other than that, the place itself is chic, elgegant and modern. cannot wait to return :)

Everything from the chorizo pizza (we took a second one home to freeze!) to the beet salad to the grilled salmon was unbelievable. Don't forget about the simple "bread" platter to start! The mill their flour in-house and you can really tell the difference. A must.

I have eaten here 4-5 times. I've never been dissappointed. The food is always well composed. It is right portion size to feel satisfied. The pain perdou and lobster hash are a must taste. The service is attentive. The decor is French influenced and pampering.

Dined on January 31, 2016

First time here, went for restaurant week; everything was great. Great romantic spot. I had jokingly demanded champagne upon arrival in my "special requests" in my rez, and they did it! The host was so nice and fun about it! Everyone is beautiful, good West Loop spot to grab dinner on the weekend before hitting the town.

The happy hour special of $10 for a pizza and a beer is phenomenal! It is one of the best deals in the area and the perfect way to start out a Friday night. Our server was super friendly and didn't judge us for only getting the special. It was much appreciated, and I will definitely be back!

Nellcôte

Dined on January 29, 2016

I went for restaurant week. Their beet salad was crazy, a perfect example of food gone absolutely wrong. A bunch of bold, strong flavors randomly thrown in together to produce something inedible. The rest of the food wasn't that good, either. On the flipside, the interior design and the ambience were great as was the service. Great place, but I wouldn't touch their food again.
