Better value than at local hotels, even though food costs on The Islands almost double from anywhere else, with exception of airports where prices are greatly inflated as well.
Can honestly say this was the best meal we've had in the past five years. The fish we had was scrumptious, the service outstanding, and drinks and dessert were perfect. Highly recommend.
THE BEST MAHI-MAHI AND AHI ON THE ISLAND
THE TITLE SAYS IT ALL. WE HAVE EATEN AT THIS AND MOST EVERY RESTAURANT ON MAUI AND WAS DELITED TO RE-FIND THIS GEM. THE DISHES WERE PREPARED IN AN IMAGINATIVE AND SAVORY MANNER TO WHERE WE TALKED OF OUR DELIGHT FOR SEVERAL HOURS FOLLOWING OUR FEAST. THANK YOU MONKEY POD. WE WILL SEE YOU AGAIN ON OUR NEXT VISIT.

This was our first visit to Monkeypod. The food was incredible: I had fish of the day served with fern-infused spätzle, lobster, and mushrooms with a mild yellow Thai curry sauce. It was amazing. There will numerous bite-size portions of lobster accompanying the dish. Visually, it was an amazing plate. My spouse had the steak and although initially it was slightly overcooked, it was cheerfully and apologetically exchanged for one cooked to perfection. It was a very busy place, the noise level is high. The food is outstanding.

One of my favourite restaurants in all of Maui The strawberry cheesecake is brilliant. Had the ahi sandwich which was done perfectly. The drink selection is amazing and in everything there is nothing but quality ingredients. Ate there 2 days in a row!

Great service from our servers all 3 visits! Food was awesome the first night, came out hot and delicious. 2nd visit included a delicious pizza with lobster and mushrooms, 3 rd visit was a disappointing burger. Stay with the local type dishes fish, salads and their pizza and you won't be disappointed. Save room for pie!
Great Night Out!
Drinks were good and the food was outstanding. A bit on the pricey side, but I guess that's what you pay in Wailea. Grateful for eating outside, inside was noisy and loud, but still a great place to hang out in.
Monkey Pod is a Wailea treasure!
We love vacations in Wailea and had heard great things about Monkey Pod! We've had back to back meals at the restaurant....we loved it. First of all, they have designed small welcoming touches to their restaurant, so you feel appreciated.. From the fresh cooling fruit beverage that greets everyone at reception. Although the location is upstairs in a small mall, they have added an original S.E. Asian decor that is subtle and original. There is a distant ocean view that is nice at sunset. The menu is tempting and attractive- although the Mai-tai is highly rated, I thought the wine list was excellent. My husband and I chose two seafood dishes-mine was a featured item- a mild grilled fish seasoned with coconut and curry. It was absolutely fabulous-to the last bite. My husband enjoyed grilled fish tacos that were generous and presented in a handsome way. Everything was beautifully fresh and perfect. We shared a garden fresh Ceasar, Maui onions and white anchovies that was perfect to share and delicious. Last of all, we couldn't resist taking a piece of the coconut cream pie home. What a lovely sweet conclusion'. This review would not be complete without mentioning our waiter Amanda. She was welcoming, professional, and so helpful with our suggestions, This restaurant is not for tourists-it is for everyone who appreciates delicious food and fine restaurants-it is special!!
The food is excellent; farm to table/organic. Chef recipes are unique and amazing! Very good craft beers. Very popular so reservations are a must. A little noisy. Wish they could add some sound proof on the walls....or dine outside on the patio. If they offered breakfast, we would be there for all our meals!

Went once for dinner and returned two times for Mai tai's and dessert! The Mai tai really is out of this world. Fish tacos were forgettable but gnocchi was good! I will certainly return next vacation to Maui.

Noisy inside, but more pleasant outside. Waitress was knowledgeable and pleasant, as well as efficient. I appreciated the emphasis on farm to table. I would recommend this restaurant to others.
Wonderful as always!
A must if you are coming to Maui! Great food, great people, great place!
Must Visit if You're In Kihei or Wailea
MonkeyPod has a great atmosphere with a beautiful view (for now - it looks like some construction is going up which may block the sunset!). Reservations are an excellent idea. Service is great, patio is awesome, and the food is delish!

Good Happy Hour, Service
We enjoyed our visit to Monkeypod during their Happy Hour. The truffle fries were a hit along with the pumpkin ravioli. We also enjoyed their margherita and proletariot pizzas, especially at the happy hour price of $9 each. Ingredients tasted fresh. Would avoid the lobster deviled eggs in the future, they weren't bad but also weren't anything special. In the past, we've tried the raw bar and would not recommend that either. We also tried a dark chocolate, caramel cream pie that was very tasty. Not too sweet or heavy in a good way. It was a nice way to end the meal. The kids got mac-and-cheese, complimentary for 3 and under. Lastly, our service was superb. Was not intrusive, yet always stepped in right before we ever needed to flag him down. Note, it's pricey but Happy Hour appetizers+pizzas made it a decent value.

Fine dining at affordable price
Our family of five visited twice in three days whilst on holiday. Whilst the entrees are pricey the burgers and pizzas are very reasonably priced and are absolutely delicious. Pete's classic burger and the Margherita pizza were favourites. The place is busy, vibrant and noisy. The live music was great without being obtrusive. Would definitely visit again.

Go for the Mai Tai, stay for the food.
The restaurant location is deceiving, situated just off a main road in a small strip mall location, so we really didn't know what to expect. We had heard that they did good Mai Tais so wanted to give them a try. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and were pleasantly surprised that there was great live music while we had our lunch. We ordered our Mai Tais and were not disappointed! Tasty and potent. We started with a raw bar mixed plate that consisted of sesame ahi poke, organic waihe'e macadamia nuts coconut ceviche & octopus (take) poke. So fresh and great flavours. Each bite was very well balanced and really gave us three completely different tastes which was perfect. For our main course, we knew that we wanted to order something from the wood oven as the smell was amazing as we walked into the space. We selected pizzas that were made with their own crust and local organic ingredients. They really were outstanding. We left feeling completely satisfied and then three days later, came back for more. Thank you for a great meal and we look forward to our next trip to Maui...one more Mai Tai please.
Great atmosphere - happy hour is great fun
We were on holiday in Wailea and a friend mentioned Monkeypox, saying it was good value. It was within walking distance so we booked to eat early to include happy hour. The Mai Tais are fantastic and I also tried other cocktails. Our server was friendly and helpful, and, after waiting a few minutes, we were seated on the patio looking at the sunset. The food was well-presented and very tasty. We recommended to another friend who has since visited. Good vice, good for groups and families, great cocktails.

One of our favourite places to eat in Maui. Casual, upbeat atmosphere with awesome live music and great happy hour specials on food & beer. Mai Tai's also the best I've had on Maui. Have eaten here 3 times during our stay for lunch & dinner. Would definitely recommend.

Food was mediocre. First round of fish tacos were soggy so we asked for new one. Second round wasn't soggy, but did not have any flavour. Much better fish tacos elsewhere. We also had the curry seafood stew. Flavours were great, but the list of ingredients did not state there was mushrooms and onions; neither of which my husband will eat. We had a gift card for the place so it was ok. I wouldn't have been happy if spending my own money for an overpriced meal.
