Moghul Restaurant Ratings and Reviews

The food was outstanding, the service was outstanding and the prices were outstanding for the amount of food you got in each portion. There were four of us, we sat in front of the kitchen window so we were able to watch them prepare the meals. We ordered a bread combination with 3 choices, 2 appetizers, 2 vegetable dishes-the eggplant and the lentils (incredible) and 3 mains: lamb kabobs, a lamb dish and tikki chicken masala!! I took home 6 pint containers of food and 1/2 the bread!! and we ate that for dinner last nite! I would HIGHLY recommend the restaurant for Indian food lovers or for people who have never eaten Indian food but want to try it. We drove 1 1/2 hours to get there and will definitely go again!
We have been dining at Moghul for many years. We live in Staten Island and cannot find a restaurant as good as Moghul. The food is consistently terrific. The service is fantastic! The whole staff is wonderful!
Just the best Indian food in the area!
We have been coming to Moghul for years. Great food, friendly service and it's very affordable!! Melwin is usually our server and he's very attentive to our needs. Cant' get enough of the Samosas! They're huge and delicious! My favorite entrée is Murgh (Chicken) Tikka Masala, but I also enjoy Murgh Vindaloo and Murgh Tikka. My wife enjoys Tandoori Murgh. We dine there at least once a month!
Just loved it!
Everything was delicious from the appetizer to the dessert! I tried this restaurant in January and wasn't keen on my entree, but I loved my friend's entree. This time I went back with a different friend and tried a different entree, I had the lamb biryani and the gadja halwa for dessert and was blown away with how delicious everything was, including the seekh sikander for my appetiser. The whole dining experience was pleasurable. We were not rushed to eat our meal within an hour as in most restaurants and the ambiance was lovely. The waiter who brought out my friend's bottle of wine forgot the ice bucket and messed up a bit on some things, but our main waiter knew what he was doing. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her food and we will definitely go there again and again and again!
Lovely Girls' Night Out
Three of us ladies who never get together often enough decided Moghul would be a good place to celebrate. We really picked a great one! One friend ordered the samosas appetizer, and another ordered the garlic naan. We three go to a lot of Indian restaurants, and this was by far the best garlic naan we've had. The samosas were top notch, too. Tasty, nicely spiced, and inviting. For dinner we each ordered a dish and shared. B had lamb roganjosh, R had Reshami Kebab, a deliciously spiced minced chicken dish. I had Peshawari Kebab, a yummy lamb kebab entree. Funny, mine disappeared first because everyone was reaching for it! We ordered a bowl of basmati rice to share. For dessert R ordered the Gajar Halwa, a grated carrot dish. It wasn't what she thought it would be. We all had a taste but left most of it. It was very sweet between the carrot and what tasted like sweetened condensed milk. Service was attentive but not claustrophobic. We had a nice time and were allowed to sit, talk and catch up. It's been months since we were all able to get together. We were seated by the window and treated to the sight of deer in the parking lot! I wasn't expecting that. Food was great, try it sometime if you're looking for a good, fancy Indian place that treats people well.

Excellent and consistent food for the last 10 years that we have been visiting this restaurant ! We have many other closer choices, but we find Moghul worth the 50-mile round-trip from our home.
Very good, almost great
The papadum was crisp and plentiful. We started with Vegetable Samosa and Ragda Pattice. They were both very good. The samosas were not overly crisp as they are in most restaurants. For entrees, we had Moghul Mix Grill, Murgh Tikka Makhani, Saag Paneer and Balti Dal, along with rice and naan. The lentil dish tasted rather bland. Left over two days later, the flavors had melded and were very tasty. The other entrees were very good. The cost was rather high. Most restaurants provide rice with the entrees. Moghul has rice as an ala carte item. The drinks were rather costly, too, relative to other restaurants. The service was very attentive. The cost will probably see me choose other nearby options rather than return to Moghul.
Can't Go Wrong Here
After a brief hiatus due to logistics, we returned and remembered why we were regulars in the past. You cannot go wrong with the extensive menu, suggest lamb or chicken or even any of the vegetarian dishes if that is your preference....something for everyone and spiced as you like it.....mild, medium, spicy or otherwise. Service is impeccable.....the 'unobtrusive' wait staff cannot be accommodating enough in terms of recommending dishes. By 7PM, the dining room was full on the day after Thanksgiving. We will be back, regularly once again...suggest you do the same.
Excellent Indian food
This is as authentic and fine any Indian food can get. Quality is top notch and probably our favorites for a reason

Tonight was our first time dining at Moghul. I was expecting a fine dining experience but was disappointed in the ambiance, service and food. I checked on the restaurant website that it was BYO but as we were seated the manager advised that "this" time we could use our wine but not next time so please call them and check before you embarrass yourself (for doing the right thing!).
Great service and food
The food was very good, the fried papad (was fresh) and chutney was great start. We ordered Reshmi Kababs and they were so flavorful and moist. If you like spicy food order the stuffed nan it was very good. The dinner was also good but the taste was like eating at any other good Indian restaurant. The service was great. Phillip waited on us and was always smiling and got us our food and beverages on time. We will visit again if we are in the area and will ask for Phillip.
Good, but not remarkable
Great service, decent food. It was a Wednesday evening and we arrived just as they opened for dinner; so it was quiet. While we didn't have the lunch, but the buffet menu looked interesting. The place filled up as the evening went on. The portion sizes were good and the prices reasonable, but the food wasn't particularly remarkable. Not bad, but not great either.
Very good Indian food.
Very good Indian food, probably the best around, extensive menu and excellent service. Large portions are definitely enough to share and take home. Nice atmosphere as well.
I have been to many, many Indian restaurants over the years. Most are average at best. Mogul is a cut above in food preparation and presentation. The tandoori grilled meats have a clean fresh taste. The way they should be. Served with perfectly cooked vegetable sides. We tried several lamb kormas each distinctly different, all with sauces deep in color and flavor. The lamb tender and not overcooked. We ordered the bread basket of three breads, which we chose. The paratha was flakey and less dense then most. The onion kulcha and garlic naan distinctly different and hard to stop eating. Curry lovers will love this place.

The service is very good. Very quick to clean the table.
Our first experience. Wife and I brought a dear old friend for lunch buffet. We were greeted in a friendly way. We were given a detailed description of the food. Custom made starter was a delicious introduction. Food was well cooked with many offerings. We were able to bring our own wine even though the restaurant has a well-stocked bar.
Being in the neighborhood, I took one of my out of town colleagues for a business Dinner. My colleague enjoyed a glass of wine. The Moghul Mixed Grill (Tandoor), Bhendi, and the assorted breads were fantastic and predictably the right venue for such occassions.
Probably the best indian
Very authentic high end indian restaurant in the indian suburb of Edison nj. Def bring friends and family here. The grill plate is excellent and all the curries are delicious spicy and authentic.
Great consistent food
My family and I have been coming to Moghul's for a few years now and we always consider it a treat. We have never been disappointed with the food and the BYOB is a great convenience. Our favorites include: Assorted Vegetable Pakora, Seekh –E-Sikander, Murgh Tikka Masala, Murgh Saagwala, Navrattan Curry, Balti Dal, and all the great breads.
Always great. Consistent quality. Can't beat the prices. Always too full when I leave. Solid choice!
First time there, but not the last.
Went there on a recommendation. My wife and I , dinner for two on Valentines Day. The place was rather busy, but the service and the food were impeccable. A beautiful decor and ambiance. Seems like a fine dining establishment except that there were quite a few screaming, crying children and infants-somewhat unexpected considering the rest of the experience. Will definitely return. Top notch service and the food was nothing less than remarkable. Best Rogan Josh I've ever had.
My friends and I frequent this place quite a bit even when it is so out of the way for us. I would say this is the closest I can ever come to delicious Indian food in the US. Everything is very well done and the quality of the food never wanes even during busy times. Definitely recommended.
Consistent Dining Experience
While I usually go to Moghul for business meetings on weekdays, this time it was a delightful weekend experience. The Fish Curry was particularly delicious along with the usual Tandoori Chicken, Tawa Vegetables, and an assortment of Indian bread.
We feel very welcomed at this restaurant. When we walk in we are warmly greeted by the manager, Ved. Then after we are seated, we are again warmly greeted by our favorite waiter, Siva. We do not come that often, as we live in Staten Island, but Siva always remembers our name. He goes out of the way to make us feel comfortable and he is the main reason we dine at this restaurant. Plus the food is always outstanding!
My coworker and I like to
My coworker and I like to eat Indian food once a week. My co-workers hertigate is Indian. We are both consultants who are on the road weekly and are always searching for great places to eat. Moghul's has both excellent food and service. Our server, Melwin, was outstanding. We have found this to be the best Indian restaurant in this area.
Great for Business Lunch!
I am a regular guest at Moghul. Good food, speed and quality of service. Highly recommended.
With all the restaurants on the Indian strip Moghul is the original and best. Their tandoori cuisine is second to none.
Our waiter Melvin was excellent and went above and beyond good service. Hi suggestions on the menu were pitch perfect. His attitude was great. The food was 50% of the reason we had a great time. Melvin was the other 50% that ensured that we will come back again and again.
In an area rife with Indian restaurants. Ever dish is different and delicious. Do not miss if you love Indian food. Try it if you want the best.
We loved the food, it was
We loved the food, it was spiced well which is often hard to find, of good quality and ample. A beautiful setting too.
Yummy Indian fit for a group
Our friends wanted Indian and we got it! The waiter helped us and told us what to order - he even joked and said he would take home our leftovers! The food was not too hot as our friends from overseas we afraid of the heat! A very yummy night. We will go there again for sure.
Good enough for an Interview
Either I go to Moghul for Business lunches or for a weekend brunch with my Family & Friends. Last evening, I reserved a Table for an Interview and thought that it may be too noisy to have a business discussion. With the right seating, I conducted an Interview successfully on a Saturday night while enjoying the good food that I have known Moghul for.
Best Indian food in Central NJ
Food was fabulous! Service was friendly but a little slow. Nice restaurant and prices not too pricey.
Dining experience in Mogul
The service was not upto expected standard in more ways than one. Mogul management may like to focus and improve the same.
I love the food at Moghul
Being British, I am very keen on Indian food- it is the most popular cuisine in Britain. I have also spent a lot of time in India. Having spent 10 years in US, and tried lots of different Indian restaurants, I now go nowhere else for Indian food as it is the only one that tastes like the real thing. Delicious!
Food was good and interesting.
Food was good and interesting. Rice is a la carte. Win is limited. Waiter are nice and helpful. We did see a family with two well behaved girls enjoying a meal. Popular late. Many people going in when we left after our 6:30 dinner.
Very good food!
We used to go to the Moghul in Morristown. This one is just as good!!!
Good choice for the area
I was looking for something close to some friends in Edison, and this was a good find. Certainly there are great Indian restaurants in the area, but this is a great place for those who may not be very familiar with Indian food. All the dishes were tasty, and service very friendly.
Food at Moghul is exceptional.....aromatic and layers of flavor. Chicken Tikka Masala is the absolute best, and the Lamb Vindaloo was tied for 2nd with the Paneer Moghul.....Paneer Moghul tasted exactly like grilled cheese and tomato soup....only 10 times better! Addition of beer and wine a plus.
