Mi Piace Ratings and Reviews
Waited 20 minutes for our table for two ...
Waited 20 minutes for our table for two after watching another party without a reservation (who evidently knew the manager) take a table for two immediately before us. Then waited for 30 minutes after finishing our salads for our entrees to be brought to our table. Overall, while the food was excellent, we were disappointed with our dining experience.
Service needs focus
Food is good. Service needs attention. Bread to dessert took time and server team did not pay attention. More interested in turning tables than providing good service.
Reputation Over Valued and Way Over Priced
Very well known in Pasadena area where the gourmet crowd likes to eat and mingle and be seen. Vibrant reputation. The meal, especially the Caesar, was very (and I mean "very') average and priced at $12 when it was worth $6....just dressing poured on top. Osso Buco was $43 and though good not exceptional. They do not validate for self parking in the garage....another thing to be aware. Server was nice but absent quite a bit. Kept looking to find her and get another glass of wine. Gave up. Good food, but not up to the reputation and overpriced for the quality.
Very good in all measures on a Sunday afternoon
Our family of 4 adults were celebrating Mom's birthday at Mi Piace in Pasadena. The restaurant was very busy when we arrived, but we were seated within a few minutes of arrival for our reservation. Through OpenTable, I'd arranged a bouquet of flowers to be delivered at the restaurant around our reservation time. The server had the beautiful arrangement on our table within 5 minutes. (compliments to the florist for creating a low and colorfully compact centerpiece that allowed us all to see each other as well as enjoy the flowers) Our female server was calm, friendly, efficient and patient with our ordering and service. Everyone was happy with the food. We were returning to this Mi Piace after an interval of a few years. It was every bit as enjoyable as it had been during our previous several visits.
Simply Amazing Food and Service.
Have been a patron for over 20 years. Though I no longer work in Pasadena, I still drive the hour for the amazing food. The experience is always exceptional with the AMAZING staff service.

Lamb chips on daily special were very good and flavorful. Glad I ordered the sauce on the side as the meat flavor was delicious without it.
Very Good Food
The food was outstanding and good value. The service was not on par with the food. We did not get a wine list when seated, the drinks took a long time to arrive and water glasses were not refilled. The timing to serve the appetizers and dinners ordered didn't take too long once we could get staff attention to order. It didn't seem understaffed, just inattentive wait staff. I would recommend going for the food, but be prepared to have to ask for attention and anything you might need.
Still one of my favorites. Order with capellini aldente!

Will not return as food has gone downhill.
Will definitely NOT be returning to Mi Piace. This was my third time eating there over the course of a year. The first time was great with wonderful food, the second time the food was just OK, the third time the food was extremely disappointing - borderline terrible. The restaurant has progressively gone down hill with regard to the food and I will definitely not be returning.
It was OK, not Great...should have chosen better
The Calamari was really tough, The Strawberry/Field Greens salad lacked any real depth of flavor. The Braised Short Rib Ravioli was actually very flavorful but the Brunoise Vegetables volume was a little light.
Nice place and a good italian meal.
My husband and I use to go to Mi Piace, at least every other month for many years. The ambience is always great, the food we have our favorites and once in a while we try something new, but our last experience was not the best. I've asked a certain table because it was a especial night for us. The table was the first one they could find, the restaurant wasn't that full, it was a Tuesday evening, eventhough the service was kind of behind the other times we were there. It took a while to us to order, to the waiter to bring our wine glasses. But, after dinner, as I asked for a dessert for the birthday guy, he promptely arranged that. We'll certainly go back, but I'd like to help them with my review in order to get a better service.
Great food - we went for dinner and came back next morning for breakfast. Super fun, lively spot, accommodating, friendly staff. Highly recommend!
Great dinner and bar menu
Organic kale salad was different and delicious. Calamari pasta dish was very good. Margarita pizza was fresh and good, but I prefer a not so soft mozzarella. Seating is very close together. Great way to make new friends and compare food and drink choices. Service was attentive and helpful.

Always a favorite for traditional Italian food. Great vibe, has a very urban feel.
The food was great even after 15 years away from my favorite restaurant. I would definitely recommend this awesome place for dining and relaxing. Kudos!!!
Took my friend for her birthday. We sat by the window. Our waiter was friendly and on top of it n the did was excellent. Because I mentioned birthday on the comment section. They brought My friend the special chocolate cake. Great spot.
Service was beyond bad
The restaurant was 70% empty, hot tea was delivered without any hot water. Appetizers were dropped off without any share plates, had to ask twice. Had to wait a long time for the check. Had to wait for to go containers.
A not so hole in the wall restaurant
I love Mi Piace, I've been coming here since 1991 before they remodeled. Nothing has changed, the menu is pretty much the same, but the quality and the taste of the food is as yummy as it was back then.
Very expensive. Poor food. Poor service. I had heard about this place for years. Other than its location, I see nothing going for it.
Loves this place will return again! The service was great! Food was very tasty and I had a great time. Easy to find as well

It was truly a memorable evening to celebrate my wife's birthday along with our son. My wife had the ravioli and my son and I shared a pizza. We split the topping cheese for him and a margherita for me along with penne pasta and vegetables. To cap the dinner off, they provided my wife with a complimentary fruit tart in honor of her birthday and completed that treat with two cappuccinos.
We had dinner at 7pm when the restaurant was very crowded. So we recommend you reserve a table when you plan a dinner there. Foods were very delicious. As there are many nice shops in the neighborhood, you can plan your visit combining with window(or real) shopping.

Nico was great as usual but the lounge had a very noisy and rowdy group who made the experience very unpleasant for all of us and no one from management bothered to address it. Very disappointed with the experience and although I am a frequent customer, not sure if I will return.
I'll Be Back
Loved this restaurant. Pretty awesome service. Food was great.

We had a wonderful birthday dinner. Food was great and the service --exceptional!!! We were not rushed (although the restaurant was very busy). Haven't been here for many years but we will soon return!!!!!!!!!!

This is place fantastic with their reservations. We had a party of eight and our table was ready. Their calamari and bruschetta are delicious. You can't go wrong with their pollo mi piace or pollo sesame. Their chicken lasagne is also quite tasty. For desert their creme brûlée was also delicious. Not too sweet. And the service was excellent.
One of our local favorites
We go here for special occasions, and we always order the Linguini al Pescatore. The soup is a full-flavored tomato base, and it is filled with shrimp, a large scallop, several plump new zealand green lip mussels, clams, calamari and fish. All of the other dishes we've ordered have been very good, including the Osso Bucco (the mushroom risotto is more special than the oxtail), veal marsala and gnocchi.
Mi Piace has been around for some time now and it is still one of the best Italian restaurants around. It has its shortcomings, mainly, it is so noisy that it rivals Bodega Louis as the nosiest restaurant in the County. It is also crowded which basically means, even if you have a reservation, you are going to stand around for a half hour. But the food is really good and it is one of the few places where the desserts taste as good as they look. It is worth the noise and the wait.
Visit to Pasadena
We were able to be seated within 15 minutes of our reservation. The server was very helpful with suggestions and food/beverage pairings. Our group of 5 (with different food preferences including vegetarian) all left with a great experience.
Good food but service lacking
We were celebrating a birthday on 2/12 and made reservations through OpenTable. The restaurant seated us promptly at the reserved time even though it was a crowded evening. We got our menus from the hostess and were ready to enjoy a nice meal. Waited about 10 minutes before server came to say hi. Round 1 - Server took our drink order - did not inquire whether we had been there before (which we have a few times), what the occasion was, or even ask about appetizer or bread on this initial round. Round 2 - came with our drinks and was about to leave, I had to ask to order appetizer and as for bread. Round 3 - It took about 10 min for the water, 15 min for the appetizer, and the bread took 20 min to arrive. Server didn't take our order until I asked to order when the water came. Round 4 - The entrees were served timely, about 15 min after order. Round 5 - 20 min later, no one ever checked in on how the food was or if we were ready for dessert or? Basically, I had to flag our server down and ask for the leftovers to go and the check. Round 6 - Bill was dropped off promptly and no thank you's or good bye. Oh and I forgot, asked for water refill and never came. Very disappointing that it's such a nice restaurant but lacking on either training or attention or both. For a dinner visit having only seen the server 6 times from the time we sat down to the bill, I'd say that is almost embarrassing - including the times I personally had to flag the server down, else they would have just walked by. I've been to more casual (and less expensive) places where before dessert the server has come by a dozen times to refill water, ask if we had any needs, etc.
Sub par servive
The food runner dropped literally dropped the appetizer on the table which caused the balsamic filed plate to spill on my shirt. The waitress complained about the food runner to us vs the manager. We have been going there for years but this experience may affect future visits.
Consistent food and service
Consistent food quality. Good service. Dining room is a bit crowded for conversation but overall bright and pleasant. Not happy to see a restaurant charges for bread. It makes me feel less welcoming.
I love getting butternut squash ravioli whenever I can. The dish at Mi Piace is hands down the best I've ever had! Their service also is fantastic, the ambiance is romantic and fun (even with the hoppin' bar on one side), and the location is great. Definitely recommend, and will return!
The service was splendid and food was an added bonus, especially the decadent desserts such as chocolate soup & mi place mango. My penne arrabiatta was rich in red sauce with chicken breast & my friend's seafood dish with cream sauce was sensational!
Cheers to Kenny for great service
My husband and I have been dining at Mi Piace for a long time. It has become one of my favorite spots in Pasadena; a default spot when I want to be out but not sure what my tastebuds want to eat. Food is about 95% on point. Any dish is very good but our favorites are linguine al pescatore with white sauce and capesante con guanciale.
