Meritage Ratings and Reviews
not what I expected
Had heard great things for a while. Finally went on a Friday night. Didn't like the menu at all. Very small and not particularly appetizing. For the price I would not go back there. Disappointing only because of the menu.
always a hit!
No matter how hard I try, I cannot buy a bad meal at Meritage. Everything is fresh, perfectly prepared and great.
Convenient for an easy night out
The ambiance and restaurant are very nice. We were with another couple. They had the duck and really liked it. I was hoping to have fish, but there fish dishes were limited and I wasn't interested in any so I had the veal chop Milanese. I thought it was too heavily breaded and couldn't really taste the veal, so I didn't really like my meal. Dessert was excellent. Not sure if I would try again. I thought the offerings were limited.
We have dined here many times. The food is excellent. The service is too!
Mediocre food, good service
The food was very mediocre except for the dessert. The service was very good. We had heard good things about the restaurant but were very disappointed. We do not plan to return.

Always an amazing experience! From Jamie greeting us at the door, the food, Tony & Kim, & a very special visit from Tatu it seriously couldn't have been any better. Kelle's cocktail menu was incredibly inventive & delicious! I had the scallops with pancetta & carrot purée, the man piece had the duck with dates & caramelized apple. It was the most tender duck either of us have ever had. Finished the night off with a delectable chocolate mousse tart with raspberries. Can't wait to come back!!!

Overall it was a very disappointing evening ,food wise. First of all the service was extremely slow. Second, when the food did arrive it was Blah. There was little or no flavor in the salad dressing, The Paparadelli (spelling?)lacked sufficient Tomato sauce and the Veal ragout that accompanied it had very tough meat, like rubber. I would not return and I am hesitant about trying the ownrers new restaurants in Dobbs Ferry and in Tarrytown, We were lookng forward to St. Georges but I,m afraid it will have to wait.

The food was really good and prepared nicely. Definitely fresh ingredients and our server was great with an attentive staff happy to help him out while he was busy at another table.
another great dinner at Meritage
Meritage is truly the gem of our neighborhood. Always great food, and always great service. On top of this, it is kids friendly and they are happy to accommodate the kids with simpler items off the menu. Never have been disappointed with the food nor the treatment we get there. I wish we had more restaurants like Meritage around Scarsdale.
Always a pleasure
Dined at Meritage on New Years Eve, as always the food was terrific, the service outstanding and the staff so welcoming. We are never disappointed when we visit this truly lovely restaurant.
Christmas Eve Dining
Varied menu selections and broad choices for wines, enjoyed a wonderful meal and service was professional and attentive. Highly recommend.
Disappointed this time
Saturday night 8:30 pm reservations, we did not see appetizers until 9:30pm. Staff was not attentive, food wasn't coming out of the kitchen timely. The food was good but having our main course after 10pm was not. I believe the owner was helping out as though they were understaffed. It seemed staff and the owner were more concerned with chit chat with a few tables rather than business at hand. Very disappointed this time. We have eaten there several times and it was always a smooth experience...
excellent westchester dining
very pleasant entry by host, wine list with moderate prices and very good choices, fish dishes and appetizers were excellent, guest was very satisfied.
Get there early on Saturdays
I would recommend getting there early on the weekend. We arrived at 7:00 p.m. on a Saturday night and the restaurant was fairly busy. Two of the specials were already gone. The food is very good and the staff is very accommodating but when we got to dessert they were out of one of their standard offerings. We have been to Meritage many times and will continue to eat there because the food is good.

Started off with really slow service. Food was good though. Wine expensive.
Tasty, but SLOW
Food was very nice when it arrived, but service was VERY slow. Meal of 1 appetizer, 2 mains (the same pasta) and no dessert/coffee took an hour and 45 minutes. Waiter was nice, but was just too long for a local Sunday night dinner.

Great neighborhood gem. Quiet, chic, simple yet elegant menu. The wait staff is truly exceptional. Rare find for any suburb.
Always consistent and delicious. Veal chop parmesan was excellent.
Took work people
They almost wanted to cancel but all said they would go back!
This place sits in a small shopping center but once inside you'd never know it. It's cozy, romantic and lit with tasteful chandeliers. But, best of all, the food is superb. I ordered the Arctic char and I don't think I ever had such a tasty piece of fish. We will definitely return.
Meritage merits a return
This was a good restaurant; obviously a foodie place. The appetizers we shared were excellent. A char tartare was exquisite and the burrata with cherries was one of the best I've ever had. I ordered the roasted chicken which is simple but was excellently made; my waiter said it was the house special dish. Everything else at the table was very well done. The chocolate chip bread pudding was lovely as was the lemon almond cake which was very light and perfect for summer with some blueberry compote. There is an excellent selection of wines by the glass that we enjoyed also.
Comforting neighborhood eaterie
Meritage has a nice relaxing ambiance and regulars as we experienced when we dined there. The regulars knew about the no corkage fee on tues and came with plenty of their own. Entrees were appetizing and very tasty and flavorful as well as the entrees and specials. Service was very attentive.
Food did not live up to previous dinners. The last two times we ate dinner at Meritage we had a women waitress who appeared overwhelmed by the number of tables she had to handle. Both times Tony(A fabulous waiter) came to our rescue.
Great Mother's Day brunch
Our large family of eight, including two small kids all enjoyed the Mother's Day brunch. There was something on the menu for everyone and everything was delicious. Also the service was attentive.
Excellent evening - the food and service were wonderful. Try the cauliflower pasta!
Our favorite place
We have been going to Meritage for many years and it continues to be our favorite neighborhood restaurant. The food, service and ambience are excellent and we always feel like friends!
The food was great - very fresh, delicious dishes, not overly saucy. The waitress was a low talker in a loud place and really seemed bothered by our questions - which she didn't always have the answer for! Nice dinner out with friends anyway.
Great find! Ladies Night dinner for 5. Food was wonderful and service was terrific! Special thanks to Olu, our most attentive & friendly server.
Consistently very good food and service
We go to Meritage frequently since it is close to our home. We have never had a bad meal here. I had a very juicy but very crisp on the outside salmon filet on a bed of faro which was delicious. My husband had the chicken parm cooked perfectly. Great sauce and melted cheese topped the tender chicken that was charcoaled around the edges for a crispy bite. Aside from the food, we go there to see our favorite waiter for many years, Tony, the best ever!
Every meal is great!
You cannot buy a bad meal if you try. Love the food and service. Always see friends there. Try the veal, it's the best in the city. Milanese. Tagliate bolognese. Apps are great. love this place.
good neighborhood spot
I think the chef knows how to cook. The food is interesting and delicious. Love the server who has been there forever; great at his job. Sometimes the specialty scotch pour is weak and the person who answers the phone forgets to put the reservation in the book; happened to me twice (learn to confirm res). Having said that I really enjoy going to Meritage.
Our food was good but a little off: salad was dressed with too much vinegar and monkfish special was somewhat salty. When it gets crowded, the waitstaff becomes less attentive after you've been served the entree. Nice relatively quiet ambiance.
Quiet and good food
Easy to have a conversation and the food is always good with several specials offered. The shrimp and white bean appetizer is a favorite. Longtime staff are welcoming; however service all but disappeared when we wanted a check. We'll check out BYOB on Tuesdays--no corkage fee.

Previously, the service was crisp and the food was delicious. No more. On our last two trips, the service was slow (with unduly long waits between courses and after drink orders), yet when the food reached the table all of it was room temperature. We went back after the first bad experience because they deserved a do-over, but they won't get another one.

Known this restaurant but have not revisited for several years. Friendly greeting by staff and seating at a nice table. We had an early reservation, so place was quite empty but filled up pretty fast. At first our waiter was attentive and then slacked off. There was no second or third pouring of our wine by him. We enjoyed a very nice Char Tartar. Second course was Short Rib for my husband, which was prepared as one chunk of meat with mashed potatoes and little gravy. I decided to go for the special of the night, Cod with some veggies. As we eat out often, we know the food scene quite well, but this dish left me totally floored. Looked like I received a bowl of cereal, (dish size was smaller than that of the appetizer), containing a piece of fish the size of 2x3" on some unrecognizable vegetable with chickpeas. I actually had to ask the waiter if this was the main course. If you are a foodie, don't go here. Presentation of any dish is below par and prices are way above par.
Fresh food but bland
Service was friendly & efficient enough - as expected. Ordered arctic char tartare & arctic char entrees. While I didn't care for the tartare - tasted "fishy", I did like the arctic char from the entree. It was very fresh & cooked perfectly. However, the fish was very bland (not seasoned well) and the sides (farro & spinach) were way too oily despite reassurance from the waitstaff that the chef uses very little oil in the saute. They offer 2 types of fresh pastas while others are the usual dried ones, but they are unable to switch sauces with the pastas..? Thought pasta dishes are expensive - all above $22 & these are nothing special to them. Chef seems too rigid to accommodate requests. Order from menu "as is" only. Will not be back.

I couldn't give this restaurant a better review! The greeters, wait-staff, ambience and food all get five stars.
