ALways a must in Lake Geneva

Dined 2 days ago

My friend and I visit Lake Geneve every year from California. Four years ago we stumbled upon this gem and have been coming back annually. We have our favorite dish and even though it's no longer on the menu the chef always accomdates us. The service is always great but tonight we were really impressed. Seated next to us was the rudest customer that I have ever witnessed. He treated the staff terribly, complained about everything and was horrible to his date. The waiter was so kind and tried so hard to make this customer happy but nothing was going to appease this mean person. Kudos to the staff ! Thanks for being one of the highlights of our visits!

We had a great visit. Will be coming back!

Dined 3 days ago

The grilled octopus over a bed of arugula with a greek vinaigrette was great. Made me want to come back next year when the Northlands Storytelling Network returns to town. Greek lamb chops were excellent as well. My son's steak was the best he has had in years.

Chef Greg Hits It Out of the Park

Dined on April 23, 2016

Medusa has long been one of our favorite restaurants - and locally, our absolute favorite. We made reservations on Friday for Friday evening and they were able to accommodate our party of 4. The burrata salad is sublime - and is easily shared, although I had one for dinner and it was perfect. We love Chef Greg's carpaccio when it is on the appetizer menu; the Greek ribs are also a delight. Don't miss Chef's daily soup - each one is a taste bud experience. On Friday our friends shared the Porterhouse which they said was "perfection" and my husband enjoyed one of his favorites, veal piccata. The gelato is made by Chef Greg and it is not-to-be-missed. Each flavor is deep and unmistakable. We love the pistachio but our friends were sighing over the coconut. It would have been a perfect evening except for the service, which was at times over-friendly ("what are you guys having...?") and at times a little dismissive. In all of our visits through the years, we've always had excellent, mindful service so perhaps we've been a little spoiled. Keep in mind when you order coffee that you are actually ordering "café Americano" made to order and there are no "on the house" refills. The coffee is excellent, so enjoy - and make like the Europeans who savor their coffee and don't drink it down like we do here. What we love is that Chef Greg takes so much pride in his kitchen - everything that comes out is fresh and of the highest quality. In a town like Lake Geneva where the tourist trade is huge, that is rare indeed.

Good food

Dined on April 17, 2016

I have frequented medusa's numerous times and the food is always good - I was a little disappointed in our waiter - I had told him it was a good friends birthday and never once said happy birthday nor brought a snail dessert for her or anything - we made it quite clear it was her birthday, you think he could have done something. Our bill was over $200 for three people, it's not like we were cheap. I live in lake Geneva and so many other establishments go out of their way to make you feel special on a special occasion and this waiter was oblivious!

Excellent ingredients & fusion of flavors. The owner and staff should be proud. The space is quaint and comfortable. Good music. Unique live tv feed over the bar to display the Chef at work. We had every course and nothing disappointed! Highly recommend.

Disappointed

Dined on April 3, 2016

Was so looking forwarding to dining here as it was highly recommended by a local in a recent visit . I brought my family back to Lake Geneva for the day. Both my husband and I love dining out so were excited to try this bistro. My husband and son ordered the lamb chops which were fair, my grilled swordfish was a bit too charred for my liking, my daughter's each ordered the shrimp over pasta which was "overloaded" with olive oil and lacked flavor. On a good note, the beet salads were delicious. The waiter was fair, nothing special as far as service which I would except at a small intimate bistro. All in all sadly disappointed and would not return.

Eye Opening

Dined on March 19, 2016

I had the pleasure of celebrating a recent achievement of my Daughter with a night out at Medusa Grill & Bistro. It was our first time there and will definitely return. Two of our party went with the Ribeye steaks. They must have been good as their end of the conversation fell off and I was not offered even a taste. I let Chef Gregory choose the Land choice special for me. It was eye opening to taste and enjoy what Medusa can do with a broad spectrum of items and sauces. Scot was our waiter. Scot is a very tall man. Graceful, knowledgeable, and for a rangy guy he never once clunked a plate. The homemade gelato was outstanding. My friend, who I have dined out with for about 15 years, had to take a box home due to the generosity of the crepe wrapped cheesecake dessert. I am now looking for an excuse to make another reservation.

Great atmosphere, something new!

Dined on March 19, 2016

Small restaurant with few tables, must get a reservation before coming. You can literally see the Chef and his team making your meals by looking into the kitchen or watching a live feed of the grill on a TV above the bar. Great food with a definite Greek vibe.

Absolute Must!

Dined on March 12, 2016

Can't brag enough about this restaurant! The food is outstanding and the service is exceptional. Brought my sister and two of my girlfriends there last weekend and they are still talking about it. They loved the fact that they could watch Chef Greg cook the meals on a HDTV above the bar. We ordered the saganaki appetizer, 3 of us had lobster and scallops, truffle mushrooms and brussel sprouts on the side. My Sister loved the Shrimp Diablo and although it was not on the menu that night, Chef Greg made it for her. We finished with the "gondola of homemade gelato". We will definitely be back again!

Great Find!

Dined on March 9, 2016

Was looking for a place to have a business dinner between Madison and Chicago. I found Medusa online and it seemed like a great menu. We are not disappointed! The menu was great and the entree's easy to understand and the waiter knew what he was talking about as he went through the specials and answered questions on the menu. They have a nice wine list, nice craft beer list to pair well with the dishes. The place is on the small side, so not idea for large groups. In the off season, it was still doing a brisk business yet was quite for good conversation. I would most certainly recommend this to anyone looking for someplace nice.

Absolute perfection!!! The staff is so polite. I had the surf and turf 10oz of lobster tail and 10oz filet mignon. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. I'm pretty sure it was more than a 10oz steak. My husband had the NY strip and loved it. The creme brûlée was oh so good. However, the vanilla cheesecake was heaven. I highly highly recommend! Too bad I don't live here

Another very fine meal. I'd like to see them think about more creative sides for the entrees but consistently the seafood and meat is cooked beautifully on their wood-fired grill. Highly recommend if you are in Lake Geneva looking for a much better than average meal. Nice cocktails too!

Great service from Riley and Dicter. Awesome shrimp bisque!! Goat cheese beet salad was great! Entrees of trout and lobster- lobster and scallops couldn't have been better. This was the best overall dinner we have ever had. Dessert of stuffed crepe with gelato was great too! We can't wait to go back if ever in Lake Geneva again.

Truly a unique dining experience.

Dined on February 28, 2016

My husband and I made reservations to celebrate a belated Valentine's Day. We were greeted and seated immediately and directed to the specials on the board. The food was outstanding, although the noise level was extreme; very difficult to have a conversation without shouting at each other. With such wonderful food and staff, it would be great if you could expand to accommodate more guests and create a more intimate dining experience.

Never had a bad meal at Medusa's!!!! Great again... I recommend this restaurant to everyone. There is something for everyone on this menu, gluten free, vegan possibilities and for omnivores wonderful chops of all kinds and great soups with the famous home made hot sauce on the side of the bowl. (I just wish the soup would be vegan sometime using a rich veggie broth).

We were extremely disappointed. The sides (mashed potatoes, cabbage, and sautéed greens) did not compliment the entrees at all, but, instead detracted from them. The price was far greater than what the quality of the food would support. I ordered sautéed sea scallops from the specials menu at a price of $36.50. I received three scallops that varied so much in size that while the smallest one was overdone and rubbery, and the largest bordered on being undercooked. For the money, there are far better restaurants in Lake Geneva, and in Chicago, that we would much rather have gone to.

Our waiter was a little surly. And we did not like the the sides with our dish. The red cabbage side had a large dose of curry, such a strong flavor and we do not like curry, so we could not eat it. The mashed potatoes had on the other hand no seasoning. We liked our Steak and salmon but the lobster was rubbery. The best was the gelato to go. We were disappointed and will not be back.

Medusa never disappoints. The food is far above average, and the chef is happy to work with you to make the meal a great experience. The portions are very generous--and the wood-fired grill is used so well by the chef. Service is great as well--cozy and enjoyable evening. Nice selection of much better than average cocktails that use premium ingredients--it does matter! Highly recommend--our favorite Lake Geneva destination for a great dinner.
