The Grill at Meadowood Ratings and Reviews
Perhaps I just heard from too many people that The Grill at Meadowood was a MUST. The best part was our server. Food was good, though not exceptional; nothing special on the menu. I can say that its really a dining spot for after golf.
Moderate food at best. Very expensive.
The food was just ok. Then when you look at the price, it was less than ok. Very pricey compared to other wonderful upscale restaurants in the valley. We could not get a reservation at the restaurant because we made a last minute trip to Napa. We ate at The Grill at Meadowood instead for one of our meals. We both love to cook and felt that we could have prepared everything we ordered with more flavor. The cauliflower soup was bland, so were the fried artichokes. The salad was good but nothing special. Nothing was something I would order again. The quality of the food was so disappointing that I wouldn't go back if it were free. The property and views are amazing. By the way, this is the first time I have every reviewed anything on the internet but the food was so disappointing I felt I had to.
I was not expecting the 3-star Michelin experience, however I did expect the trickle-down of a 3-star Michelin restaurant to be very good. This was very boring, the food was passable (although somehow my filet tips were overcooked), but significantly overpriced for the quality and inventiveness of the food. I'd highly recommend do Meadowood, or nothing, but the food at The Grill leaves a lot to be desired.
Had previously had dinner in the restaurant and thought we would try the grill. A little more laid back but the food was great.
Always a great place to come for a meal
Very casual, right on the meadow wood golf course, and a wonderful small menu with something for every one. The service is very attentive without being over the top. It is fairly quiet, and nicely decorated. Love it here every time we visit the wine country.

It's a hidden gem in the Napa/St Helena area. The food is incredible with an incredible setting and world class service.
I may be jaded living in the San Francisco Bay Area, but I was not very impressed with The Grill at Meadowood. The food is better at Solbar. I found the prices outrageous for brunch (the bill was $300 for two, including tip and alcohol with $18 cocktails). The grounds are as pretty as Muir Woods and I would imagine it would be a lovely place to stay but I would go to Cavallo Point if I wanted to visit pretty grounds and have lunch.

Greeted by a young man that assumed my guest was my wife, my guest wasnt amused, but discounted it to his very young looking age. Started with a basket of baked goodies, croissant, bacon scone and blueberry muffins. ..obviously not able to consume all by 2 people in one sitting! ..on to hot food.. Salmon eggs Benedict. .perfection! Huevos rancheros...simple but flavorful. Thumbs up on the grapefruit mimosas! .. $120 later, we left full and satisfied. We'll be back. .hopefully not married next time!
Perfect Night at The Grill
It was a perfect night and the service was perfect too. The menu selection that was offered that night hit the spot. The Parpadelle Pasta was delicious. The two salads offered were extremely fresh and full of flavor. We could have those salads every day. The wine list had a great selection to choose from. It was great to see unique local projects on the list. I am looking forward to returning soon for another great dinner. You will not be disappointed on this choice to dine.

Meadowood is a wonderful resort, relaxing and beautiful. And The Restaurant with its 3 Michelin stars is world class and not to be missed. So I am surprised at how pedestrian The Grill really is. Sitting on the porch is nice, but service and food need an upgrade. The Grill is not up to Meadowood's promise.
Grill breakfast ideal with sisters
My four sisters and I settled around the round table at The Grill at Meadowood, with the addition of my husband who is adored by all five of us. Our time enjoying every bite of brunch was superb, and the gracious service topped the midmorning! Because of the elegant spirit of the Grill, we felt completely at home, and shared memories, stories of our lives and recent travels over the time together. What a JOY!

Our best meal in Napa. Very friendly staff...great service...great food and wine although the wine went up to great wines with very pricy selections. Very attentive to gluten free diet.
Lives up to its reputation for great food
The Grill is the bar and restaurant overlooking the golf course of this 4 star resort. The service is excellent and they will often use your name in any dialogue with them. The tables are set far enough apart that you don't feel anyone is eavesdropping on your conversation. The food was excellent and well presented. The food choices were great and the wine list too plentiful.
Very medicre experience
Maybe expectations were high but on first approach the waiter did not know the menu and when asked about the wine pairing merely stated there's a chardonnay, a sanghese...and before continuing when queried had no knowledge of the wines, the producers or the years. And by the way, it's pronounced sangiovese, not sanghese or whatever he was trying to say. Sadly the wait staff seemed to have little training and for $150/person one might expect a little understanding of basic service, right vs left etc.. After some time the manager stopped to ask how things were and 2 of our party politely grimaced and discussed the issues. From then on the evening moved up to a pretty standard restaurant event. The sommelier knew the wines very well, was extremely competent and very much a pleasure to work with. The food, ah well, yawn, nothing really exciting. Two of five dishes were superb but we all came away very underwhelmed. The setting is nice for lunch, right in the bar but for a $700 for 4 dinner, especially those of us who live in the area, it's really not memorable. Prior evenings at 1313 Main for example and a few others were far more interesting and well served.
The food and service were great. We will definitely go back!

The food was good, not great. Service was very good. Decor was blah even for a golf course grill. Pricey overall. I live in the Napa Valley so this in a way was disappointing.
Lunch on a warm sunny day
We try to come to this restaurant whenever we are in town. We came for lunch today because the last time we were here our friends ordered what they said was the best hamburger they had ever eaten, so I just had to try it. I was not disappointed, in fact it was cooked to perfection, juicy, and just plain delicious. My husband had the battered fish sandwich which is new to the menu. It too was delicious (I had to have a bite). I think I may order it next time without the bread.
Some entrees good, Some not
Our experience was not up to the level we expected because the quality of food was uneven. All of the appetizers and salads were very nice, but the salmon and duck from the tasting menu were just ordinary, uninspired. In comparison, the salmon and chicken entrees ordered a la Carte by our companions were wonderful. The service was attentive and our waiter was friendly but professional, and quite knowledgeable.
We were underwhelmed by our experience. Had been looking forward to this for weeks. Couldn't get a reservation at 'regular' Meadowwood, so decided on the Grille instead. Service was slow (we must have waited 30 minutes between ordering and our meal - the kids were starving). Seemed like even dessert was slow to arrive. Our waiter dropped the next-door table's appetizer on the floor. On the plus side - they were happy to adjust our food to be vegetarian. I think the view during the day must be nice, but it was dark, so we couldn't see anything. Food was strictly so-so. The kids chicken was literally a piece of chicken slapped on a plate - no garnish, no nothing. At these prices, you would think they would at least make an effort. Overall disappointing.
Michelin level Grill
The food was excellently prepared at the level of the next door Michelin star restaurant (probably the same kitchen ? ). Service was professional and very friendly. As we do not know the Californian wines we got a professional explanation. One remark though: the wine list was obviously the same as they offer in the Michelin graded restaurant given the exorbitant prices with 95% of the bottles over $100.
Realx, Casual brunch
Enjoy relax and comfortable brunch. Manager is very professional and kind. Server is good too. We got complimentary champagne from restaurant to celebrate my sister's birthday. Ate around the golf court, ambiance is awesome! really enjoy! cold pressed juice is good, vegetables from their garden is healthy and good. Potato is good! Assorted pastries are awesome, especially scone! We love it.
I am a local Napan and this is the best time of year to enjoy Meadowood. Stunning view of Redwoods and completely absent were the tourists, even found parking downtown St. Helena Main Street for some shopping. Rare indeed.
Thankless Giving Dinner
Wow! Our family was disappointed with a very mediocre dinner for Thanksgiving at one of Napa Valley's premiere resorts. The property is outdated and in desperate need of some capital improvements. Our dinner reservations were in the "Golf Club Studio" which reminded me more of a Denny's than a 4-star resort. The food was ok, but not for $90 per person on a pre-fix dinner. Disappointed.
You get what you pay for.
Best breakfast experience. We enjoyed 6 plus items for around 100 on the patio.
Excellent service, Mediocre food
I took a friend to the Grill and we had a good time. I was quite impressed by the service. Perhaps, my expectations were too high, but I was not impressed by the food at all.
The Grill is place to enjoy
Service great waiters friendly, food delicous in a nice setting. To cold to sit outside Friday but would have loved it to look over the grounds.

I was a little disappointed in the menu. It was a Sunday and they had a brunch menu. I had the corn beef hash and it was not that great. View and service was great!
Glad we went back
We returned to the Grill at the Meadowood as we believed that the last time we went it was just an off night. We were right! This time we sat inside as it was already getting dark as we arrived. We brought another couple with us. They had the burger which they said was the best burger they had ever had (and they are in their 70's). Both my husband and I had the chicken breast which was cooked to perfection, juicy and very flavorful. I had the forbidden rice with it. It was my first experience with "black rice" and I loved the nutty and firm texture. Now I want to go back and try the burger. As usual the service was great. The host did warn us about a large somewhat loud party in a back section of the dining room so we choose a table in the front.
Lunch on the greens
First time at the Grill. Beautiful day, on the deck overlooking the golf course not bad for lunch. Food, service and atmosphere were very good.

We had breakfast at the grill. For an upscale restaurant with very high prices, I was very disappointed. The setting was 5 star, however everything else was below average. We had to ask twice for lemon for water and my husband had to go searching for the waiter to get coffee because it was forgotten. The Eggs Benedict ($20) were served on something equivalent to a toasted hamburger bun, the ham was dry, and the hollandaise sauce was lumpy. The biggest surprise came when my husband asked if he could have a bus quit instead of toast and was not told that an additional $3.00 would be charged, for a biscuit, really! If you like to throw money away for mediocre food this is the place for you, if not, steer clear!

Top Ten in the World
The Grille at Meadowood is one of our "Top Ten" restaurants that we have visited in the world! My husband and I love the peaceful view outside overlooking the golf and croquet courses. Our server, Mike, was extremely polished and professional. Everything from our appetizers (mushroom and bacon flat bread) to our entrees (steak) was delicious! Our salad was so fresh we wondered if they grew the lettuce and tomatoes onsite. We celebrated my birthday there last week and returned two nights later to savor another meal at this incredible restaurant. Thank you for making my birthday celebration so special (and yummy)!
We had a 7 pm reservation and while it was still light outside we choose a table on the terrace. It soon became very dark and the table was not illuminated by the outdoor lighting. They should fix that or not put people at that table at night. They brought extra candles but they didn't help and we ended up using our smart phone flash lights to illuminate the area so we could see what we were eating. Our server was very attentive but the food was just OK not as good as in the past. The Chef was very accommodating in that he substituted a marinara sauce in place of a heavy cream sauce in our pasta dish but the pasta, ordered al dente, was till a little soft and on the cool side when served. The hamburger was good but not the special sauce on it. We do have another reservation towards the end of this month and will go back as we are hoping that it was just an off night. And we will eat indoors this time.
Good service with well prepared dishes
Have eaten breakfast and lunch here more than a few times, but had not gone for dinner. Sitting on the deck look over the course is extremely peaceful if you get there before the restaurant books up. All of the dishes we had were great. I have never raved about Gazpacho before, but what I had the other night was memorable.
Great for brunch
A really excellent place for brunch. The food was delicious and the service was great the atmosphere quiet and the views of the golf course spectacular
Delicious food, romantic ambiance
Wonderful food, beautiful setting and terrific service. What could be better? Every meal item is farm to table, incredibly fresh and perfectly seasoned. Just a distinctive, memorable way to spend one's time. Will definitely return.
