One of my favorite restaurants

Dined 3 days ago

We had the most delicious lunch here. Got the fish tacos which are huge and taste wonderful. They are big enough to take home leftovers. Great service and the waiter filled my soda without my asking. Love eating here!

Our waiter was amazing! Very very knowledgeable and knew the menu inside and out. Made a reservation and was seated within 10 minutes of arrival while others were waiting for over 30 on a Friday night. The food was outstanding; we had the blackened Mahi and center cut Angus. Definitely going back! !

Fantastic experience. We shared the shrimp kisses recommended by our waiter. They were delicious. While both our meals were great (filet and the parmesan flounder) the wild mushroom and spinach sauté was the surprise--my favorite side and the one we will try to copy at home.

The food was delicious! Be sure to order the lobster bisque - divine! Each member of our party of four ordered something different and everything was perfect. I found the scallops to be exceptional!

A Very Bad Experience; Actually, NO Experience

Dined on April 18, 2016

A friend and I made a dinner reservation at McCormick & Schmick's in National Harbor, MD, during a conference we were attending. We were greeted and seated promptly. The ambiance was nice, the setting fabulous, but I would give the service ZERO stars if I could. Likewise, the food, because I never tasted it. Our area was completely empty; we were the only diners in this particular part of the restaurant -- between the bar and the outside windows. There were numerous waitstaff (at least six) in the vicinity, and I think they each passed by our table at least twice. Not one of them ever greeted us; not one of them ever acknowledged us; not one of them ever said, "We'll bring you water right away," or, "I'll get your server right away," or, "I'll get you menus in a moment," or even, "I'll get you some silverware." After fifteen minutes, we left. We stopped at the front desk; one of the staff who had greeted us when we arrived smiled and said, "Hello!" I responded, "Goodbye. We are leaving. We were at our table fifteen minutes, with numerous staff bustling around, and not once did anyone say anything, bring us water or menus or silverware or napkins, or even acknowledge us." I did not raise my voice; I was calm and matter-of-fact. And then I turned and left. My friend was behind me, but stayed long enough to see two of the staff rolling their eyes at this. The kicker? "Have a nice night!" as we left. Really? I have a colleague who has traveled the world over. The number of countries he has NOT visited can be counted on one hand. He says that whenever he is traveling in the U.S., if there is a McCormick & Schmick's in town, that's where he will eat. Clearly, he has never been to National Harbor. He's lucky; I deeply regret having been to this restaurant. And, of course, I cannot comment on the food or the value of it, because it seems clear to me that selling me a meal and providing basic service was not a priority for anyone that evening.

Service was terrible would not recommend

Dined on April 17, 2016

We had a reservation for a group of 10, confirmed it twice, and then we we arrived we waited 45 minutes to be seated after asking the hostess what was going on three times. The service staff was overwhelmed, took a long time to take our orders, bring drinks, etc. The kitchen got a special food order wrong, and sent out a plate that was unacceptable. The espresso machine was broken and so they had to cancel our cappuccino and espresso orders. They also ran out of calamari when we ordered by 8 PM. I made the reservation for my boss and her bosses and was embarrassed by the choice, would not go back.

Expensive & You'll Leave Hungry & Feeling Cheated

Dined on April 15, 2016

Cost for food is absolutely too much for what you get. 4 small shrimps. Too small for them to consider stuffing but the sold them as stuffed with 1/4 teaspoon of stuffing. Should have priced no more than $12.99. Taste wasn't anything to brag about either. Large wine selection but food choice is very limited. The fish and chips I had few years back were not good either. Won't be back. Twice was enough.

Beautiful National Harbor Setting

Dined on April 11, 2016

We chose the restaurant because it was directly on the Potomac. We left loving our dining experience. The waiter was very knowledgeable and was good at steering us towards the perfect meal selections. I chose the Chesapeake Rockfish. I was not familiar with the dish and it is now one of my faves. The fish was cooked to perfection, so tender it almost melted in my mouth. Next time I am in the area, I will definitely choose McCormick's and will order the exact same meal.

Great seafood restaurant

Dined on April 10, 2016

If you like seafood, this is the best place to go with fresh seafood and a different menu every day(I think or very frequent changes). The seafood is really good and prepared in many ways. It's cooked typically for a gourmet restaurant with lot's of butter and sometimes it's too much for me especially on the vegetables. However, this is the way so I can deal once in a while to get a seafood meal out. Great river views too.

Birthday Brunch

Dined on April 9, 2016

Had a planned surprise birthday party, and had a curious birthday person that was kind of hard to trick. M & S, and the aviance of the restaurant took the person's mind completely off their game plan. The person didn't want to leave, wanted to stay longer. The surprise came when we got the person back to the real party. M & S was a great distraction and everything was great, the food, service, and scenery. My wife still rave about the restaurant, and I'm quite sure that we will return.

Go for drinks and the view.

Dined on March 30, 2016

I was really disappointed in the meal. I was dining with a group of 9 people and our food was mediocre at best. Almost everyone ordered steaks and nobody was happy with them. They were all overcooked and flavorless. Though the dining room was relatively empty it took a long time for the food to come out. The pacing was just off. Kudos to our server who did all that she could to make it better. I won't come back.

Don't eat brunch. Eat dinner or lunch.

Dined on March 27, 2016

I really like M & S and wanted to try their brunch as it is my favorite meal. However, brunch was not good, especially on Easter. I had the traditional eggs benedict. There was no flavor. My daughter loves eggs, but she did not eat them. In fact, when we got home, she stated she was hungry.

Disappointed

Dined on March 27, 2016

We had to wait 45 minutes for our food, we called a manager over to help after waiting 30 minutes he simply went to the kitchen and told us they were plating our food.. The food came out 15 minutes later.. No apology no check back. In an empty restaurant the service was unexceptable and shame on the manager.

Best Restaurant Week EVER!!

Dined on March 26, 2016

My good girlfriend and I always try to meet for lunch or brunch occasionally and although we had just an okay experience the last time we attended a restaurant participating in Restaurant Week, this time was a game-changer. Our waitress, Myisha, set the tone from the beginning and was a joy the entire time we were there. She was very quick, efficient, personable and attentive. Unlike the hostess that seated us, Myisha was very knowledgeable about the Restaurant Week and Spring Wine Fling specials that we inquired about. She brought us menus right away, offered suggestions for food and wine and put any fears we had about ordering to rest. I would definitely come back again especially because the prices, service and lunchtime view were so great!!

Disappointing Experience - During Restaurant Week

Dined on March 25, 2016

A few girlfriends and myself went to McCormick's and Schmick's during National Harbor Restaurant Week. The service was great to start off with, our server was attentive and kind. Eventually, the service was inexcusable when our server would disappear for 20-25 minutes at a time. Our entrees arrived before our appetizers. The second time around, my entree order was incorrect. I specifically substituted my potatoes for greens because I don't eat potatoes. When I mentioned this to my server, she wasn't sympathetic at all and replied "Are you sure that's what you ordered?" You have to be kidding me. Of course I know what I eat and DON'T eat. I was disgusted with my visit and the service and by the end of the night, I was ready to leave. Needless to say, I will never visit nor recommend McCormick's and Schmick's National Harbor. Not worth the visit.

Very good experience, service could use work.

Dined on March 24, 2016

The food was delicious, we were very comfortable, but the service wasn't great. Our server didn't seem to know what was going on most of the time. We went for restaurant week, but when we were given regular menus we asked for the restaurant week menus. She said she didn't realize it was restaurant week. Obviously, a small minor thing. However, the interactions we had for the whole night were like this. Service was also slow. So, to sum everything up, service wasn't horrible, just not great.

We absolutely enjoyed our first restaurant week at National Harbor. The food was excellent and our server was so attentive with our party. She recommended some drinks that was so good we had to have more than one. I look forward to returning to the restaurant soon to enjoy more food and drinks.
