Maya Del Sol Ratings and Reviews

Maya Del Sol is one of the very best dining options in all of the Western Suburbs. Great drinks, innovative/delicious food and a vibrant atmosphere keep us coming back. This particular evening the spicy roasted red pepper soup and the ropa vieja were excellent. They also happen to have one of the nicest outdoor dining spaces in Chicagoland.

The restaurants was out of tortillas so I could not order tacos or enchiladas. This is like Starbucks being out of coffee beans... But the food was good.
Very good experience!
Went out on a date night with the husband early in the evening. We were running late and they were very kind to us and never made us feel like they were put out. Very accommodating when we were seated. We were given our choice and they had various options for a lot of different kinds of diners: outside, bar, booth, table, quiet area, loud. It was too cold, but they also have outdoor seating. Food was VERY good and they had a lot of interesting options. Not the typical same Latin fare. Exciting dishes with a Latin flare. The drink list is great and we enjoyed each drink we had!! Service was fantastic. Attentive, but not on top of us. The other servers are looking out for the staff, so we were always able to grab a hold of someone, if we needed something. The only comment about the food is that there seems to be a heavy leaning toward sweet. For me, that works. For my husband, he is not such a fan. Nothing was grossly sweet, so it was not a problem. I just want to advise that if you are like my husband, go for the savory dishes or inquire of the server if the particular dish is sweet.

Good food. Great drinks. Excellent service. Love the four different areas in this restaurant. Can't wait to dine in the patio as the weather warms up!
Tasty steak and shrimp, decent appetizers.
The only annoyance: the patio seating was requested and we were sat inside without reference to the request we made through Opentable. Which was fine, but we got curious - we then asked if patio seating was available and were told by the greeter to "go back there and get a table". Their system needs some tweaking, I think.

My family and I went to celebrate my mom's birthday. The staff was wonderful, our server was very knowledgable and courteous. The food was amazing. We brought in our own cake and they cut the cake and served it to us. Overall a great evening and nice ambiance. I had the surf and turf with the filet mignon. Delicious!

We went there for my birthday, and it was very enjoyable. I had dish tacos. They were good, but could have been warmer. My husband had the chicken enchiladas. He said they were really, really good.

We haven't been to Maya for a while and were pleasantly surprised by our meal. The food and service were excellent. We had a pork loin that was great and the plantanos de ropa viejo was, as always delicious. The tamales appetizer was also good.
We were treated graciously and seated promptly.
Surprising menu with many creative pairings. Everyone found just right for their entree and thought the food was excellent..

Always a pleasure dining at Maya Del Sol.
The food was absolutely sub par. I have had better food from taco bell. We ordered 4 different entrees and only one was edible. They boxed the uneaten food but no way were we interested in taking it. Price is high, portions are small. Additionally when we were there , on a Sat evening, the number of people with crying kids was ridiculous. I was surprised and disappointed as we had been told it was good. Save you money. Lots over better places around.
I grew up in Oak Park and now live in Western Springs. I really enjoy coming back and enjoying the local restaurants. Maya Del Sol was a very pleasant experience. Original menu, great sauces and wonderful service.

Great Thursday evening dinner. Food and drinks were wonderful. We will be back when it is patio weather!
Nice environment, good service, but average food
We ordered the sangria, appetizer sampler, mixed tacos, and pork shoulder. The nachos were good, but the mains were bland. Our server was courteous and efficient, but the food was not impressive.
Everything about this place is perfect. This is a gem in the Oak Park neighborhood. There are Nacho appetizer is like no other.
Always a great time!
I love Maya del Sol! The steak nachos are awesome and the pato benedicto is the best for brunch. It's my favorite brunch spot in Oak Park.

A Mainstay in town
I love Maya - it is nestled into a busy part of Oak Park but not so busy that you can't easily find or get to it. Parking is another issue; but that really is on the village of Oak Park....not the restaurant. The food and drink options at Maya are really great...it's not your run-of-the-mill choices or options. The food choices are based on Latin American dishes with a little flair of other cultures mixed in. Everything is really tasty! I can bring my 2 kids and have a nice meal; have a girls night out and have plenty of drinks and laughter; or cuddle up with a date and enjoy the ambiance. It is diverse enough that Maya is a restaurant for all people and all occasions - that is rare. They even have live music on the weekends and that is a nice treat. They have an outside patio for those who like the outdoor feel and indoor choices for those who want to stay inside. Never, have I had an unfriendly waiter, bartender or a person from management approach me; everyone is trained well and sincerely friendly. You can join their diner program and receive a free entree on your birthday and can rack up points to take $$ off your meals. That's nice for people who will visit frequently. You can join their email list and receive weekly specials, promo's and holiday info. They offer valet parking and you can book reservations online, which are nice options. No real complains but understand that Maya is not a low-end restaurant, regarding price. I will say that it will not disappoint, so many will feel you get what you pay for. So, save your penny's and go to Maya for a nice treat. Just a great overall place...

The market ceviche was a disappointment. Digging through it, there were literally two tiny cubes of fish. We informed our waiter who replaced it with one that had plenty of fish. However, the taste was very bland and nothing like traditional ceviche. The margaritas and entrees were good, nothing spectacular. Dishes including the salsa lacked any hint of spiciness. Granted this is a fusion restaurant, but the most (only?) Latin aspect of our meal was the margaritas. Still enjoyed the evening overall. Might return if I'm not looking for authentic Latin American food.
good food but noisy
Everyone in a group of five thoroughly enjoyed their food. However, the noise level in the dining area was much louder than in the bar area. Had we known this, we would have sat there instead. The service was slow, despite the fact that the restaurant was only 2/3 full.

Food was delicious. Our wait staff provided excellent explanation and guidance to help us order according to personal preferences. Cocktails were amazing, fresh & delicious!
We can always count on finding something new on the menu. We try the specials pretty often. Always a pleasure.
Always a good spot to unwind with friends
As always, Maya del Sol provided my friend and I with Great food, drinks and service. The live music was the reason we chose Maya for a much needed Friday work week de-compression therapy night out....in an area that has an over abundance of good choices.

My family has been coming to Maya since it first opened. We enjoy coming here and love the food and drinks.
Maya- That's a fun and good local place to eat !
This is our second time dining here and we remain very pleased with it consistently being good!
A great place for a small group
Once again Maya del Sol provided a wonderful venue for 3 couples. The restaurant was welcoming. We were seated at the time of our reservation. The server made excellent suggestions. Nachos del Sol is still the best appetizer known to man. The six of us argued over who had the absolutely best entrée. All were terrific!
First time visit was great!
The food, service, and ambiance were all excellent. The only issue, which was a small one, was that the band was very loud in the bar, which made conversation in the back room a little difficult. Luckily they were starting as we were leaving.
The food was delicious!
Maya del Sol was a phenomenal experienal. The enviorment is romantic and soothing yet cultural. My fiance and I ordered the shoes surtidos, which are exquisite. I ordered the Carne Asada with brussel sprouts and potatoes mix and a side of frijoles negros and she had the cochinito with frijoles negros. The food was amazing and very well seasoned. For desert we ordered the delicious crepas de cajeta with a Mexican coffee. I absolutely love cajeta and their blend with crepas was amazing. It reminded me of my days in Celeya GTO Mexico. I will definitely return here. It is a gem in Oak Park.

Hit and miss
Enchiladas were great but seviche very blah. But waiter brought another type and did not charge us. Great wine selection, hooray for Monday, half off bottles!
Good place for first dates
Comfortable atmosphere. Great place for a new food experience. Appetizers were much better than the main course. It was nice that the special menu for Valentines Day came with suggested wine pairings printed on the menu. There needed to be more wait staff, as they seemed to 'get lost' once you placed your order. restaurant got really busy and much too loud for a romantic atmosphere...it was more fun and flirty...much like a first date!
Great service and great food!
Had a very nice Valentine's Day dinner here. The service and food were on point.
My husband and I recently had our Valentine's Day Dinner here. It was perfect! Great food, drinks, and service all around. Cozy neighboorhood feel.
