Mago Grill & Cantina - Bolingbrook Ratings and Reviews
Amazing! MUST TRY:)
I have some major food allergies and it can be quite frustrating and embarrassing to go out to eat. In addition to gluten, I cannot eat dairy and a few vegetables. The servers were so impressive, friendly, knowledgable and patient. All food and drinks were well above average!!

The service was great and our waitress was attentive. The Molcajete was quite good with the exception that it was a little heavy on the onions. Would definitely recommend this place.
I went here with my friends just to have lunch and hang out. This place was wonderful! We all ordered smoothies that were just delicious. The food was awesome and we all enjoyed our meals. I love this place and will definitely be coming back. The server was pretty good, but I did have to ask him if we could have more water, and he didn't really check up on us. Also, the food is a bit pricy. If you're looking for a place where you can have a lot of options for a meal under $10, then I would suggest someplace is; however, if you are willing to shell out at tops about $10, then you will find a lot of delicious, satisfying options. Either way this place is awesome, and I will definitely recommend it to someone else.
This our go to place when the girls get together for shopping, drinks and great food!

Great food. Good service!
Great food. Good service!
Great food, alright service
Their food was outstanding however, it seemed like they didn't have enough waiters and waitresses that night. Although the waitress was nice she heard they checked on us.
Always a Favorite
We love Mago. We come back again and again. It's our favorite Mexican in the suburbs.
Awesome service awesome food
Our server was awesome! The food was just as good!
Great food, but way too noisy
I've been to all three Mago locations (Arlington Heights, South Barrington and Bolingbrook) and this was my least favorite, strictly due to the noise level. The food was great as is at the other two locations, however the Bolingbrook location was crazy loud at 5:00 on a Saturday. It was packed (which tells you how good the food is) when we walked in just before 5pm and there was barely anywhere to stand which is definitely a downfall. I do understand and realize there's really nothing they can do about the noise level since the restaurant has very high ceilings, but it always makes me wonder why restaurants build that way??? Again, the noise level is the ONLY reason I would not recommend this location because the food was very good. If noise is not a deterrent, then go for it! Otherwise I would recommend the South Barrington location first and then the Arlington Heights location.
Would try it again.
Set up a business meeting for the dinner hour. We were at one of the back tables. It was pretty difficult to hear the people at the other end of the table of (6). Many different food items. The endless nacho chips and different levels of salsa were very good. I would like to return to just try something different. Don't remember the name of our waitress, but she did a great job.
Waiters were very attentive!

Great Mexican Food!
I don't know how I missed this restaurant . Our lunch was excellent . The menu has a nice variety of options. We ate at the bar. The Staff was very friendly . I did notice how clean everything was. They have other locations which I'd like to try but this one is very busy in Bolingbrook Promenade. Honestly,I can't wait to go back. Oh yes, great drinks too!

It was great food, but I really hate when they feel the need to clear the table as soon as you finish something.

Seems the staff doesn't enjoy working Sunday morning breakfast...they like to sit in back and eat and talk. No one up front when I wanted to check in.
We heard many good things about Mago and decided to go with friends. Nice staff and very accommodating with our reservation. However, the rest was very average. Ordered guacamole which was very bland with no taste. Salsas were okay but had to ask for more chips. The margaritas were not served in margarita glasses but small glasses. Expensive and just tasted like a pre-made mix. Entrees were overcooked with mushy veggies. Again all seemed to be bland tasting per the group. Very overpriced for what you get and what you get is just average. There are much better mexican places. We are from Naperville and Burrito Parrilla is so much better tasting and a much better value.
Mexican food with a difference
We have been to this restaurant several times and the food never fails to amaze as the dishes and the flavors are so fresh and unique. We especially enjoy the ceviche and the 3 types of dipping sauces for chips. On Saturday night the noise level is very high and it makes it difficult to hear other people in the party. On the other nights we have been, the noise level is tolerable. But still worth going for the food.
Great place for classy Mexican!
We LOVE Mago! Been here multiple times and never had a bad experience. The fish veracruzana is to die for! It was cod the last time and red snapper before that. Amazing! Delicious margaritas too!
We really enjoyed Mago on a previous visit so we were excited when we realized it was close to the movie theater. We HAD to go again. But, we were on a time crunch so we opted for something quick. We got our favorite mezcal Margaritas... but they weren't as good as the first time we had them. This time they were WAY too sweet. Next, we had tacos: shrimp and octopus. We love octopus, but the octopus tacos weren't very good. They were covered in a distracting sauce and the octopus was fishy. We loved being able to pay with the Open Table app so that we could leave quickly and go see our movie.
Total fail for brunch
Have had lunch at sister location in Barrington. Brunch was not at all on par with lunch time offerings. Should have taken a hint when then place was empty... Coffee may have been instant? Biscuits and chorizo gravy appeared to have been microwaved, biscuits were tough and rubbery and gravy was greasy and had separated. Omelet also appeared to have been cooked in microwave given the perfectly round shaped eggs. Waiter did not even ask about quality of the food, even after clearing plates that were barely touched. Only decent part of meal was a chili spiced margarita.
Love this place!
Every single thing I've had here is so good! Yummy!
Not your average Mexican restaurant
Like the freshly made guacamole appetizer. Lively atmosphere. Great food.
Finally some real Mexican food!
Long and varied menu. You'll find traditional american-mexican food, plus a wide assortment of authentic south of the border meals. Arrive with an appetite and enjoy!

Food was great as always though service was a little slow. Their margaritas are really good.
This was my second visit to the restaurant an I must say it was even better then the first hoot service friendly ppl an great food.
Great food, great service
I went to Mago for lunch on a Saturday. I didn't think I'd need a reservation, just because of the timing, but I made one anyway since I know it can get busy. I definitely did not need the reservation, but it was probably because it was kind of early. The service was great - she kept our drinks and waters filled and the food was delicious and hot, as expected.

My parents went in for Tequila Dinner night and they really loved it. The food was good and the drinks were very refreshing. My parents being traditional Old school Mexicans it takes good food to impress them. It may not have been food they are used to but they enjoyed it and took my godparents as well and all plan on going again and taking friends.
Always a pleasant experience
As usual, the food and service were great. If anything, Mago gets better every time.

Tinga de Pollo! I did the tacos for lunch and let me say that the carne Asada were really tasty but the tinga de pollo are beyond good! Be back soon!
Awesome food and great service. Guacamole made at table is one of the best I've ever had. This was our second time and it was just as great as the first. Will definitely be back.
We have eaten at Magos several times and have always had a wonderful experience. The food is delicious and presented beautifully. Our waiter Luis was very attentive.

Mexicana deliciosa! Despite poor service, the food at Mago was very tasty. I would argue that the food is some of the best tex mex you can find in the burbs. The service was poor because they were not attentive to our needs. I'd go back for the food.
we went for lunch and had the hearts of palm and avacado salads and they were very different from the normal lettuce with meat on top -- generous portion of added shrimp as well Lots of people at the restaurant - even for a Wednesday!
Quick service by rude waitress .
She kept spilling water when she served onto our clothes.
There’s always that one server..
Food was wonderful, location is perfect. Waitress knew little about menu (she’s been there for a while) and gave off negative vibe. (
