The food was the best ItalianI have ever had. We had the Ceasar salad and pasta sampler. The pasta was fresh made and absolutely amazing. The salad was delicious as well. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Good place to take out of town guests
We take a lot of guests to Lidia's. Always good food and service.

An absolutely awesome evening in spite of the rain and wind. Perfectly prepared food and excellent service. As one of Lidia's biggest fans she would be very proud of this place that bears her name.
my first trip to Lidia's
We liked the atmosphere and decor. The food was good, getting it was a problem. There must be assigned roles there because the person that greeted us and took our order did not bring the food. We ordered the triple something to split. Drinks, salad and breads showed up just fine. The first two of the three entry dishes made it just fine but the third never showed up. The person that took our order showed up with our bill and was surprised that the third dish never made it. I am pretty sure that it was just an oversight in the kitchen but it made the trip and experience slightly disappointing.
Excellent dinner! The best fish (sea bass) !
The sea bass fish was so tender and flavorful! I also tried the meatballs with sauce! Great sauce! I travel a lot and this was definitely tops on my list at a great price!

Remodeling the bar area which made bar service somewhat limited and slow. Construction process left the restaurant a little less inciting than usual but I expect it will be grand when finished
Great experience despite the renovation
Food was exceptional, the waiter was great. They are in the middle of a renovation so there was a lot of construction detriment and the noise level was a little high. The triple pasta dish was excellent and the best bargain also. For $10 more you get a huge Cesaer Salad plus dessert. Would definitely go again but make sure to get reservations. Dinner takes about 2 hours.

The ceiling is very high, making it hard to hear your date. Our server asked all the wrong questions at the wrong time after letting us wait at our table for what seemed like an inordinate amount of time. The food was acceptable, but I would have enjoyed a local Carrabba's more. Their Caesar salad is not billed at Signature and then served as 80% stems. We probably won't be back.
We had no idea there was renovations going on.
Kina of disappointed there were renovations going on. Entire bar area closed off. We had out of door guest & really wanted to impress them so was a bit of a let down. Food & service was still stellar

Disappointed that the bar wasn't open since we are from out of town. But we will return on our next trip to Kansas City.
Great food, service was wonderful.

We were seated at the start of what turned out to be a fairly busy Tuesday evening, and had to finally fetch a waitperson to get our drink orders in. After that stumble, though, Lidia's staff rose to the occasion and from that point service was fairly efficient and attentive. Portions are very ample - most people seemed to be leaving with take-home boxes - and the Tuesday evening prix-fixe menu was a great deal, the $14 wine pairing an especially generous feature. Three of us all thought our meals delicious, and only because the portions were so ample did we not try any of the desserts. We all agreed we'd return on our next swings through Kansas City. (Note: bar currently under renovation meant that the tables seemed squeezed into the center of the restaurant. Hopefully the completion of this renovation project will open up space so that customers aren't privy to all the conversations happening alongside, in front and behind one's table).

As always a great experience here at Lydias. Food was exceptional and the service was good. The advise of the waiter on the wine was great. I asked for a sweet red and to my surprise it was great. Usually when I ask for a sweet red I'm disappointed at other places, but not here. One word to discribe - Superb............ Thank you Lydias for a great Anniversary Dinner....
The gnocchi with duck ragu were tender little pillows of deliciousness.
I have never been disappointed with Lidia's!
Lidia's is a favorite in our family! It is my 9 year old son's favorite KC restaurant. It is a nice, white cloth table service without the price tag. The food and service are always fantastic. A true KC gem!
They made the construction tolerable
Lidia's has long been a favorite of ours. During our last visit, we got to see the bar renovation in progress. They did a pretty good job covering the bare floors with rugs and hiding the mess that accompanies any constructions. Our food and service were just as wonderful as always. We look forward to seeing the finished renovations.

The risotto was out of this world and so was the sea bass. Next time we will request a seat in the sun room or patron overall great experience and look forward to coming back when we are in town.

Food was good, not great. Service was not great. Bar was being renovated so they were out of certain liquors and when ordered a lemon drop martini I was told they might not have he stuff to make it. I did get it however in a glass and not a martini glass. Our waitress was not around to ask us if we needed anything, had to ask bus boy for another drink. Not worth the price, will not be going back.
Great to take business clients
This was the first time I had the pleasure to visit, and I did not go home disappointed. Everything that I tried was everything that I had heard from others that had been there before. A great place to take business clients and the staff were very attentive to our needs. I will be back.
Dinner before the Show
We went early Saturday evening for dinner before a show. Food and service were great as expected. Surprised to see that the bar is being renovated so there are temporary walls up closing it off. Also think that the seating has been moved around to accommodate the loss of space, meaning the tables are placed closer together to minimize seat loss. This inconvenience is worth it as I am sure the new bar will be a great amenity. Only knock on the evening is that there as no mention of the work going on either on the website, that I saw, or outside when approaching the Lydias. Some sort of notification would have been nice. That said, said, we did enjoy the meal!
Menu and Lidia's name promised exceptional Italian fare, but our meals were only slightly above the level of Carabbas or Maggianos. Noisy, cavernous setting. Not very attentive waitstaff-we poured our own wine and had to ask for water refills. We felt our server lost interest in us after we placed our order. He seemed very motivated to get us to order up on the wine list and stretch dinner to include desserts. Very industrial/commercial. Not Lidias kitchen.

Good quality has steadily gone downhill in the last year.
Poor service, mediocre food
I have had good meals here before, but we recently had a terrible experience. Serious attitude from the server, wrong items coming out, poor synchronization, and mediocre food. We're not going back, at least for a while.
I'm Italian so I have pretty high standards when it comes to Italian food. Lidia's hit the mark in every way! Reminded me of my Nonni's cooking. Can't wait to go back
We did the set menu for Easter Sunday and really enjoyed the variety of appetizers, salads, main dishes and desserts. Service was excellent and food was delivered hot and quickly inspire of a full Restraunt. Great job and we will be back.
Very disappointing. Food looked like it had been plated long before serving. Appetizers were very good, entree cold and dry, desserts appeared to be prefab frozen definitely nothing special. My first and last visit to Lida's.

The food was as good as ever but the seating configuration has changed for the worse. It seemed like additional tables had been added to the floor plan . The tables are to close and it has altered the traditional relaxed feel that I have always enjoyed at Lidias.
Lidia's is one of our favorite restaurants in KC, and is a go-to spot whenever we have visitors. They have always been very accommodating of special requests and attentive to our grandchildren.
Not bad, not great.
Main courses were fantastic, but was not happy with lack of calamari in appetizer and lack of crab in crab and broccoli pasta. Waitress refilling water was invasive. We had been here once before and our expectations were not met this time.

Was an ok experience. Food not that great. Pasta was on the heavy side although perfectly al dente.
lovely restaurant, popular
We were early and were seated right away. Food was just ok, and wine a little overpriced by glass for the quality. The service was very good. Beautiful restaurant that can accommodate large groups.
We had high expectations after reading the reviews online, but the meal was quite disappointing. Service was average at best and we often felt forgotten. It was my wife's birthday and I was hoping to surprise her with a special experience but it just didn't pan out the way I'd hoped. Perhaps we just happened to hit Lidia's on a "down" night. Probably won't go back.
very average pasta for the money, very loud
very average pasta for the money, very loud , the service was very average, we won't be going back, i am full blooded Italian, have eaten this food all of my life, was very disappointed especially because this was my first time and know the place has been in the KC area for quite a while
Excellent food, fantastic menu of choices.
Best Italian food in Kansas City, superb wine list, ample portions.
Lidia's was a great restaurant.
It was a fun experience! We will go there again! Thank you.
Great spot to eat!
Great service and a wonderful interior/ambience. Our group was served and greated with kind faces and generous service. We would recommend to anyone visiting the area.
