Level Small Plates Lounge Ratings and Reviews
uneven food quality and expensive
some of the food items, like the lamp chops and gnocchi were excellent. some, like the chicken sliders were not good-overcooked on dry bread with little seasoning. the server suggested 3-5 small plates per person. quantities are small, but we certainly didn't need (or order) that much food. single small plates are about $10-$14 and some of them really are just a few bites. service was just so-so.
Nice Place for Small Plates
Went here for a quick bite after being in downtown Annapolis. Only had a few items. The Level Gimlet was pretty good for a summertime intro cocktail. The Weekend at Bernie's was pretty good as well with a grilled pineapple garnish. We only had the tuna tartar which was really good with the pita chips they serve it with. The service was pretty good and the bartender did a great deal of checking on the people at the bar. Plan on returning the next time in Annapolis.
Nice Pre-concert Get-together
Our group of six had a pleasant couple of hours dining a Level prior to a concert at Ramshead Onstage. We sampled many of the small plates, and particularly enjoyed: lobster pesto pasta; Cuban pork spring rolls; shrimp and grits; and roasted red pepper hummus. Noise levels can get a little high.

Our group of four enjoyed all 10 or so dishes...sharing was however complicated in some, like sharing 3 scallops across 4 people. We even offered to pay for an extra but told not possible. Everything tasted so good, we all wanted more of everything.
Attentive staff, creative menu
Very impressed with the staff. Notes on the reservation were read and complied with and questions about the menu were well advised. The food was tasty and inventive (salad with melon, soft cheese, green harissa, arugula; buffalo style cauliflower; Cuban sandwich style egg rolls; shrimp n grits; peanut butter, pretzel, marshmallow, and caramel dessert) though some things could have been tweaked for the best flavors, like the melon being underripe. Portions were heartier than other small plate restaurants I've been to, which is a nice bonus. Will definitely return in the future.

As always great food and service...got the pot de creme dessert it was amazing!!
excellent food and drink, however
Our party enjoyed the food very much. I want to go back on a less-busy night because it was quite noisy. The portions on the protein-based dishes are smaller than what many would think as 'small plate'.

Great food, service and cocktails. Enjoyed dinner here many times and will keep returning. Favorite restaurant in Annapolis.
I have gone to level several times, and recommended it repeatedly. It has always been a great experience. However, this past weekend my boyfriend and I went and I am so overwhelmingly disappointed. With the exception of one dish, none of the other dishes were even edible. Two of them we each took one bite and could not take another. It was poor quality and I was so disappointed. Level has always been one of my favorite restaurants and after spending over 100 on a meal I was disgusted with, I unfortunately don't think I will ever be back.

Level remains one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the Annapolis area. I would highly recommend this restaurant for its very fresh and tasty food and cocktail menu selections, as well as the stellar service and understated ambiance. The setting at Level also manages to be un-pretentious, despite being a nice place.
One word: LOVE
Unique and tasty cocktail menu-I really like that a portion of their monthly signature drink goes to a local charity! Plates are fit for sharing, and were well balanced and delicious. We requested all the plates to come out at once, and while that didn't happen-we noticed their small galley and could understand why. All these amazing dishes coming from a small space! The staff was very attentive and friendly. The truffle Mac, the steak and chimichurri, Brussels sprouts with goat cheese, as well as their garlic fries were on point. Can't wait to go back.

The vegetable dishes were amazing, and this comment is coming from a meat-eater! Yum!
Suoerb food and staff
Wow wow wow! I'm so happy i found this place. My first time in Annapolis and this place was a diamond in the rough. Ordered the potato gnocchi (wanted to lick the plate). Collards were perfectly seasoned, special clam dish was phenomenally fresh! Cocktails were unique and fresh. The bar staff was incredibly friendly and I noticed many folks in there were regular customers (always a good sign). Thank you for making my stay so delicious!
One of my favorites in Annapolis!
The bar and wait staff are friendly and attentive. The food is innovative and always a nice presentation. I absolutely love the special cocktails. Just a gem.
Best in town
We try to go to level a few times a month. The food is always great, and with special items on the menu and great drinks you cannot beat it.
Phenomenal Food and Ambiance
We had the hummus, potato gnocchi, one of the salads, a salmon special, butcher steak and one other dish I don't recall, with the banana pudding dish for dessert. The food was absolutely incredible. The atmosphere was very nice, warm, low lit, very romantic. I was recommended this place by a friend who was very knowledgeable about good restaurants across Maryland, and I can see why he mentioned it. We will definitely be returning.
Great restaurant, great location.
Level is a trendy, modern yet warm environment for a delicious meal. We were new to the "small plates" idea, and honestly it did not make us share more that I would in a restaurant with larger plates. The food was delicious and foodies would love it. The service was excellent, I was on crutches due to recent knee surgery and the staff went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. The hostess seated us on the lower level due to my condition. Loved the place, would go back.
Our first visit to Level was well worth it. Went for date night and everything was impressive. Our server made me feel like a guest in his home who really took care of us. Though the menu is small and somewhat limited, you know each item is prepared well. We shared three items, including a pork tenderloin special, shrimp and grits and a sweet potato arugula salad. All tasted great and used an interesting combination of fresh ingredients. We both had a lovely French rose wine by the glass and then had room for dessert, which was warm chocolate chip cookies.
Try, try, again. Better, but no "wow"
My third trip to Level was more successful than my first 2. Of course, this time, it was an early dinner. Even so, service could have been more attentive - though not the disaster it was the last time I dined there. The food was well prepared. However - when we returned after our concert, Level was a mad-house; packed, loud and with service that could not keep up with customer orders. I know people love this place. I just don't get it.
Level has a new menu with a somewhat smaller selection. For example, no more flatbreads which were always good for sharing. Nevertheless, it is still a wonderful restaurant. The garlic fries are a great starter and the many salad choices are as well. I had short ribs which were outstanding. Others had fish dishes. There is an expanded pasta section on the menu and I can vouch for the gnocchi. All were enjoyed.
Best Food In Annapolis!
Annapolis is lacking in interesting /good food. I've lived her all my life. This is the best by far!

Level was TOO LOUD. We were sitting upstairs and I literally could not hear a thing my sister was saying. We bailed on coffee and dessert and had it at home. The food was good and the waitstaff was friendly but the overall experience was less than great due to the din
The food was very good. Service was a bit rushed. I would have preferred lingering over plates a bit. There was a cold blast of air the hit us every time the door opened. The Plexiglas shield doesn't offer much protection.
Old chef was better
Bring back the old shrimp and grits, bison sliders, and heirloom salad. Menu changes having been good ):
Went here for Valentine's Day. We were sat right away and our server Jake was really attentive! Really good food. The vodka gimlet was to die for!
Lovely meal, service, and setting. The perfect date night spot!
Delicious small plates
We were visiting Annapolis from DC on a particularly cold weekend, so we were pleased to find this gem not far from our hotel. The service was excellent and attentive and much of the food was second-to-none. We particularly enjoyed the Brussels sprouts and some beautifully seared scallops. We'll definitely visit again the next time we're in Annapolis!

Good food, great cocktails, high energy. The braised pork tacos are phenomenal.
Nice small plates restaurant
My husband and I ordered a couple of plates to share. The tuna tartare, sea bass and scallops were pretty good, close to excellent. But the sliders were a bit of a dud and so is the bread pudding. It's a nice little neighborhood place in a quiet part of town. Oh, and I really liked the homemade ginger soda. Too bad, it's not bottomless.
Always a great experience
My wife and I have been to Level so many times, so we gave it a break for almost 6 months before going back, hoping the menu had changed. It had, considerably, but also in a good way. There was one thing I was disappointed about and that was the cheese plate. While the majority of the items on the cheese plate were great, 3 things irked me: first, the coarse ground mustard wasn't coarse ground, but looked like out of a Hellman's bottle; secondly, the dead spinach on the plate is totally unnecessary; and thirdly, the person bringing the cheese plate to the table didn't even take 1-5 seconds to explain the selection, which in the past has not been a problem. I am very happy that the Buffalo Cauliflower is still on the menu, and also intrigued that the flatbreads looked more like personal pizzas (thereby not flat). As with the mixed cocktails, I am always more than impressed with Level's drinks, especially Angels and Demons, my staple choice there.
A little slow taking our drinks order (it was crowded), but after that was perfection. The food was excellent, even if a little pricey.
The food is excellent. Don't hesitate - go! It was a flavor explosion. The little things like putting fresh mint in the hummus. It was delicious!
One of our favorites
This restaurant never disappoints. The lime gimlet is delicious, the pork tacos are amazing. We had the shrimp and grits and loved the mix of flavors. The sea bass was prepared perfectly. And milk and cookies are my favorite way to end a meal!
Fantastic Small Plates!
We tried an assortment of small plates and shared everything. The fried brussel sprouts were wonderful and the sliders melt in your mouth. Recommend ordering a variety so you can try all the diverse flavors. Dishes are very creative.

Had a great time here with friends. The specialty drinks were outstanding! We each ordered 2 just to make sure we got to try everything. The food was delicious, but some of the dishes were overly smoky. Overall, a fantastic restaurant and would definitely recommend!
Good Menu Selections, Good Service
I dined at Level on a weekday evening and was immediately seated. The host and wait staff were warm and accommodating. Parking was offered by nearby garages as well as on the street. I ordered the pan-seared scallops and tuna tartare--both items were prepared correctly and had very good flavor. The view is of West Street in Annapolis, which was nice. I would return to Level.
Loved everything about LEVEL!!
My husband and I with two friends had dinner Saturday night at Level. The ambience was great! Clean, well designed, interesting. We were met by a great staff and seated quickly. Our server, Carol, was adorable and gave honest opinions about what we should order, to share. We had wine... me, a nice Riesling, my friends, a nice, dry red and my hubby had a good beer. Well, we hear there is a new chef!! The quality and inventiveness of the food is that of any 5 star restaurants we have eaten at. The brussel sprouts were SO good, as were the fries and porcini with mushrooms. My husband had the BBQ ribs, we shared flatbreads, we had cheese and the chicken special and I had an amazing scallop dish. For a small plate lounge, the portions were fair sized. My only regret is not thanking the chef more emphatically!!!! Other regret, no dessert... but we will be back!
