Les Folies Brasserie Ratings and Reviews
Our private bistro
Les Folies is our private bistro, where they always greet us like family, feed us like food critics and talk to us like friends! The food is excellent, often brilliant. The service manages to be impeccable while keeping a warm informality. We eat there several times a month and it is a welcoming refuge from the stresses of life.

Les Folies is a very good local restaurant that is a great spot for special occasions.
Excellent service and food. Just as I expected. My three associates too enjoyed the lunch. Restaurant is well-liked by my family as well. My wife and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at dinner on Dec. 19, 2015 (one day ahead of the official day). It was a wonderful occasion with superb food.
Reliable good food, superb service, and good wine
We went to the brasserie for a another get-together / special occasion and it does not disappoint. Among its obvious positives, it has a very low noise level and no TVs to distract or interrupt good conversation. We go back regularly precisely because it is a place where you can talk to your dinner companions over a meal without straining to hear! Everything about this restaurant is satisfying and un-rushed. Hope it stays around forever.
Parisian Cuisine in Annapolis,MD
We were meeting "old friends" for dinner in the Annapolis and I ask one of our guest what would be her favorite dinning location and she said .."Les Folies Brasserie at 2552 Riva Road.We got there first and met one of the owners..Alain Matrat who we immediately recognized him from one of our old favorite Washington,DC restaurant . We then met the Maitre d' who was one of our dearest friends and owner of the famous Washington,DC - landmark restaurant -Jean-Pierre's on K Street ....two sets of friends getting to know each other. What a wonderful dinning experience...While some at our table had very beautiful salads we started with a tray of unique and delicious selection of 6 or 7 types of oysters from both east & west coast of the US and Canada provinces...I look forward to coming back for just this wonderful selection-it changes daily.Les Folies is know for many traditional French cuisine and we again selected Dover Sole and it was wonderful and brought back fine dinning memories in France. Everyone settled for a variety of classical desserts...including a Grand Marnier souffle with Creme sauce. This meal was accompanied by a bottle of Montrachet Wine. Thank you too everyone at Les Folies for a wonderful evening. We are looking forward to returning for another wonderful dinner....Soft Shell Crabs and more.
No regrets from anyone. My 3rd time their and very satisfied. My grandkids loved it also. (ages 7-12). What a great waitress Carol is. Don't hesitate to go.
Local restaurants are often quieter on Mondays so go to time to eat out and have actual conversation with friends. Les Folies Brasserie is ideal for an intimate meal, wonderful food from a bounteous menu, amiable staff, and well-done but over-done surroundings. Les Folies Brasserie is always a good choice.

The daily specials were delicious: pike soufflés, soft shell crab, stuffed quails and artichokes with vinaigrette. The oysters were fresh and the soufflés perfection. The wait staff was attentive. Had a great wine selection too. Great way to celebrate family birthdays. Can't wait to go back!
Great food - Great service
The escargot was delightful. The seafood linguine was better than Italian restaurants where I have dined and the seafood was so fresh and cooked to perfection. Even with the Easter crowd we were seated right away and the service was great.

Everything was fabulous from the bread to the soufflé
We had not been to this restaurant for at least 15 years. I was looking for a special place for my wife's birthday and I remembered this restaurant. We ate on a Friday evening and the place had a good crowd and the conversation level was moderate. My wife ordered the Dover Sole and it was wonderful as was my Filet Mignon. We had the Gran Marnier souffle for desert and it was spectacular. The waitress was quiet and efficient as well as friendly. The overall experience was terrific except for one thing. This restaurant has a large parking lot but they have someone providing valet parking. Totally uncalled for, in my opinion, when there is a parking lot at the door. When I informed the attendant I wanted to park my car myself he became somewhat agitated. This is a feature the restaurant can do without. Otherwise we had a wonderful special evening and will return again.
I LOVE Les Folies Brasserie..it is such a special place. The food is always wonderful and it is the only restaurant where I have them put the leftover bread in a take home container. My husband has passed, but was very particular about where he ate and your restaurant was one of his favorite places.
Not a good experience
If you are looking for overpriced and ordinary French cuisine, this may be for you. The service was awkward. We went with the steak frites, not a very refined choice but even with something as simple, the result was disappointing. the meat quality was poor, the fries were greasy and soggy. Before that, I tried the pate de campagne; tasted like industrial food. We had the souffles (one chocolate and one Grand Marnier) to finish and they were ordinary. All this for $200 (for 2 people).
The food was very good (French countryside). Service was excellent. Wine list was really nice and the wine was fabulous).
HAD EARLY RESERVATION ON FRIDAY NIGHT...EXCELLENT SERVICE. AND VERY GOOD FOOD SERVED BEAUTIFULLY AT FAIR PRICES(NOT CHEAP) WOULD GO AGAIN IF IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Very french m, great value, full menu
Lovely restaurant in awkward to get to destination Great menu options. Super staff. Authentic french options. Good value. French size portions. Think about ordering your souflees when you sir down for dessert. Need to go back.
Avoid. Other, better places to eat.
Stuck in time. Place needs a major update. Food is overcooked and not served fresh.
Wish we had made the trip sooner!
We have lived in Annapolis for almost five years, yet we visited Les Folies for the first time last week. Our waitress, Carol, was superb. We started with the escargot, and the Les Crevettes a l’Antiboise (Shrimp Sautéed with Tomatoes, Black Olives & Anchovy). I chose the venison as my entrée, while my wife chose the sole. Both were excellent. Carol deftly deboned the sole tableside and the venison was served medium rare with a lingberry sauce. We enjoyed the house wines by the glass, which were entirely satisfactory. We finished diner with the apple "tart". While tasteful, I would not choose this desert again, but this should be considered a personal preference. I look forward to our next visit and wish we discovered this jewel sooner.
Mixed food quality
Given the Yelp comments we had high hopes -- they were only somewhat met. My wife had a very good Onion Soup and a reasonably good Chicken Sandwich -- the fries were quite good when they came out but became limp because they needed another minute in the fryer. My soup au Pistou was good, but had few beans and many potatoes (not mentioned in the discription and a problem for a diabetic). Ah well. My main dish was Salade Nicoise was poor. The dressing was bland and oily, the tomatoes were mush (I get good ones in the supermarket, they can't?), the fresh tuna was OK but doesn't go in the salad as well as a good canned one, the three potato slices were crisp (cooked cubes are called for), there was one little pile of timy green beans and only 3 olives, there were no fresh herbs, no pepper, no onion, and there were no anchovies (they should at least ask and have salt-packed if they are desired). I cooked professionally while in college and the salad was a good test. Seldom have I had a test flunked so badly. The chef had no idea of what the dish should have been. Still, it was only four dishes, with mixed result. The real issue was the service. The waitress was constantly whizzing by fast enough to leave a wake, She asked my wife if she could pour the tail-end of her beer into may glass as to beer was mid-air, asked if everything was alright and was ten steps away before anyone could possibly have said anything. She placed the beer glasses on the table by holding the rim from the top. And this was a late lunch starting at 1:30 with the floor under a quarter full. The young lady doing the busing, by contrast, was hard-working and pleasant.
Skip Valentine's Day
While it seemed like a perfect choice for this occasion, souffle's were not available and our server was called in for the occaision and was not engaging to our needs. Opened at 5:30 Pm on Sunday with valet parking along with coat check to make things go smoothly for guests on a very cold evening. The specials were OK but only one was of interest. The Bronzini is always good. This was our first experience that was not up to par in year's of patronizing the place.
BAD FOOD --FAIR SERVICE
I had the bouillabaisse and it was terrible. The liquid both looked and tasted like dishwater. Because It was our Valentines day dinner (we did not want to go out on the actual day because of crowds.) I did not want to make a scene and quietly suffered the meal. Also, the waiter had too many tables to serve and service was a bit slow. This will have been the last time I will ever frequent this place!
My BFF said we were getting into a rut in terms of restaurant selections. Problem solved!
What nice people! And fabulous food!
Incredible service. So friendly. The menu is great - perfect french brasserie with a lot of depth. The specials were tasty - split pea soup (yum yum) and I had the white anchovy salad - my mouth waters thinking about it. My mussels were good but not fantastic but a huge portion. My husband's dover sole was out of this world. The bones removed by the table by the waiter. Obviously very experienced. I highly recommend this restaurant for locals and visitors to Annapolis and the Naval Academy.
A quiet February evening
It was a quiet evening at the restaurant. In the beginning we thought our server was a little "curt", but the server quickly warmed up. Our food choices were excellent. I resisted ordering the Dover Sole that I love & selected Salmon that was very good. We did have to request another round of drinks.
Great experience for a big birthday dinner!
We have been coming here for years and the service and food are always top notch. The branzino was excellent and the wine was perfectly paired. another great meal at Les Folies!
French classic atmosphere, very attentive servers, meet the owner who does radio commercials on WNAV 1430 good drink & desert & food but expensive. Good for special occasions.

Les Follies Brasserie
We picked a good night (Wednesday) when the place was not busy so it was delightfully quiet. Food was excellent as was the service. Do not be put off by the low wattage signage and arguably drab exterior. The interior is well decorated and has the ambience you would expect of an upscale brassiere (linens on the tables). Would expect to return if we are in the area but would be careful about weekend nights. No reason to expect it is crowded but no reason not to expect so. There are quite a few tables. Owned by a French company which probably helps the menu and the cooking. Try the bouillabaisse.

We had a wonderful dinner. Duck confit appetizer, stuffed quail with four gras dinner, and a soufflé for dessert. Delicious! We will be back.
My husband and I have been there twice and both times our experience was excellent. Just to go eat the escargot and drink a nice glass of wine, is worth it. Of course, we ate more than that. Looking forward to our next time.
Service was incredibly slow and plates were not brought out as requested.
Another Great Dinner
The food and service are excellent. You are made to feel welcome and appreciate you being there. It is definitely a favorite dining place for our entire family.
Superb French Restaurant in West Annapolis.
Les Folies is the only good French restaurant in the area. Always consistent food and service. Well managed. Can't go wrong.
Great for Special Occassion
Something a little different with subtle tastes of France.
Started off well and then the waiter became less attentive.Drink refills took forever while the table next to us would order theirs after us and get their refills before us.One of my favorite desserts which I had eaten there in the past was poorly cooked. Was then given dessert menu again and waiter never returned to see what we wanted.
Always a pleasure!
Just had another delicious meal in this wonderful restaurant. A tasty piece of fish cooked perfectly. Every dish I have ever ordered here has reflected thoughtful preparation. Even just their crunchy bread is one of my favorite things. Go...you will not be disappointed.

Great food. Decor and plates could use some updating.
I have to say I was pretty disappointed. Service ( waitress forgot my salad and just brought my entree) and the food were just ok. The French onion soup was bland, the sirloin steak with mushroom sauce was grisly and tough. I liked the mussels in white wine which were cooked perfectly and the portobello mushroom appetizer was good. I did see extremely large escargot come out of kitchen but did not try them. The wine by the glass was a very limited selection. Their signature dessert was a watery soufflé. It was a mess. The ambience is cute and the owner did stop by our table but I didn't have the heart to tell him what I really thought. It's not on the top of my list of nice restaurants to frequent in Annapolis. If I do ever go there again it won't be anytime soon. There are many better places for the money.
