Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge," and to top it all off, “Alain Ducass

    Very professional staff, excellent service and nice ambiance. Food was nicely presented and delicious with lots of good choices. This is probably one of the finest restaurants we have ever eaten at. It is our restaurant of choice whenever we are in Williamsburg.

    Exquisite French dining experience! Daily specials never disappoint , soups are especially delicious. Service and atmosphere great, also. One of a kind gem!!

    We were greeted warmly at the door. We were seated promptly. Our waiter greeted us and poured water. All of our dishes were delicious. My only criticism is that our iced tea glasses were empty a few times. In the summer heat keep those glasses full.

    Excellent service, food and extensive wine list, including wines by the glass. Suggest making a reservation and asking for table in the back area rather than the front, simply for ambiance, although the front area in nice.

    Have never been more delighted in any restaurant in Virginia and we come from the greater New York City area. The food was incredible, the service was awesome. I wish they were closer. We would go a lot more often.

    Our waiter was from Bali and he was outstanding - I have never had a better one… anywhere. Le Yaca is currently our favorite restaurant and the meals for all four of us last night was delicious and flawlessly prepared! Thank you.
