Le Souk Harem - Greenwich Village Ratings and Reviews
Le Souk exceeded my expectations and impressed all my guests, particularly the Birthday Girl. The service was exceptional, the food delicious, the ambiance charming. So enjoyable was our experience that I am scheduling another birthday celebration for a niece tomorrow night. I LOVE everything about this place.
If you expecting good food this is not the place , we ordered 4 prefix menu for $50 a person Two extra appetizers and main course. We were surprised to get a bill of $800 . The waiter give us a runaround, he said that he called the manager but he doesn't answer the phone and there is nothing he can do so with no other choice we paid and left, but For sure We'll never be back!!!
Food ok, Atmosphere fantastic
I absolutely LOVED the decor here. Very romantic, yet also great for groups. I thought the food was just OK for the pricing. It wasn't bad our anything, just not spectacular.. yet priced for spectacular. One annoying thing is that the radiators spit water out onto the floor by your feet if you sit on one of the benches on the top floor. I had my purse on the floor and it got soaked- so just watch out! Servers also kept trying to take our food away before we were finished.

The staff at Le Souk are all amazing; extremely nice, provide good suggestions, and are always on top of each piece of your experiences. Both times I've gone to Le Souk in the past few weeks and both times it's been great. With regards to the reservation: I booked it 30 minutes in advance (for 8pm on a Friday night) and had no issues whatsoever. The OpenTable app worked great yet again.
Fun place. like the vibe.
Fun place. like the vibe.
The mezz level ambiance is cool with limited seating but upstairs has flare and space for large parties. The food was amazing especially ordering little appetizers and the lamb chops?? WOW! Definitely worth a repeat visit and potentially party atmosphere.
Customer service was horrible.
I had a horrible experience. The customer service was way below average. They were only interested in those wanting bottle service. Anyone seated for dinner was over looked or put on a back burner. I definitely wouldn't go back nor would I recommend this place to anyone else.
LOVE this place!
The cuisine is very creative, healthy and delicious!! The service impeccable, the decor great & very exotic and I also very much enjoyed the belly dancing show which was really amazing! Great atmosphere, highly recommend this place overall!

The menu is ok. I wanted couscous and merguez. The merguez they have is only an appetizer and its in marinara sauce. Not that great.. The seats are uncomfortable. The table is high for the seats.
It was an interesting experience....
A colleague and I went to grab a bit to eat on a Friday evening after work. While there, a health inspector arrived and for the next hour and a half, no food could come out of the kitchen. Fortunately, we had already gotten our appetizers but had to wait for the inspector to leave to order desert. Aside from that, which is probably not an everyday occurrence, the food was good and the ambiance was nice. I would definitely recommend the meatballs.

great ambience, once it starts to get packed our waitress was a little hard to track down. overall great Saturday hangout.
Not too good
Strictly for College Students. Grilled Hen tasted like stewed chicken which is what the waitress called it.
Home style middle eastern
Very good middle eastern food. Very attentive staff. We sat on the second floor, the third floor looked more interesting, if we were up there, I would have given a higher ambiance rating. Large portions. We will be back!
Embrace the Casbah!
What a wonderful and unique find! Le Souk is a hidden gem amongst an endless number of bars and restaurants in the Village. Ascending two flights of stairs to the third floor harem, the atmosphere - with its ambient lighting and colorful, cushiony banquets - took me right back to Marakesh. And the food was quite delicious, too. I was expecting more tagine dishes on the menu, but the quality of the food we ordered was very good. The braised short rib was outstanding with the side of Israeli couscous to sop up the flavorful broth (I might have liked the broth a bit thicker, but the flavor was excellent). The babaganoush was spot-on, and the caraway rolls accompanying it were an interesting, but surprisingly good, pairing. Don't go expecting an abundance of vegetable options, unless you consider babaganoush or hummus to be vegetables. I would have liked a side of eggplant or something green, but there was a mysterious absence of veg options. However, the friendly, prompt service and the fun atmosphere made up for any menu shortfalls. And if you don't fancy dining (and many people weren't), just go for the lively atmosphere and the drinks!

My friend and I had an early dinner here so we weren't part of the late-night bar/music scene. We had appetizers followed by cod and branzino. Everything was fresh and seasoned perfectly. The overall setting and lovely decorations are great for friends, couples, special events, etc. - totally enjoyable.
Did not enjoy it!
The food wasn't fresh. The place doesn't look clean. Service is average. In general, this restaurant wasn't a good experience. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Service was horrible and I was the only customer
I arrived waited 30 minutes for a glass of water. The employees were cursing and very disruptive with one another. My drink was half way empty from the server having spilled it while walking up the stairs. One employee felt so bad watching me and his shift hadn't even started that he tried to help serve my friend and I. The resurant isn't a good idea to visit/enjoy unless upper management is present. It took two hours before the employees started to "work". Once the manager was there the entire experience changed. People were helpfu, kind and attentive. It was by far a bad experience which is disappointing because I recommend plenty of people to the resurant and night life events.

The food was divine. Can't wait to go back. Best couscous I've had yet.
one of my favorite places
This is my third time coming and I still love coming here each time. This was my first time eating there and it was amazing! I take everyone there
I love this place great food and great music and the ambiance was beautiful. This was great for my boyfriend birthday and our date night in the city
Weeknights slow ; food ok; service check minus
I was lured to this place by OT reccs but they ravved more on weekend service. Good to decent food for the bland ME palette . If you've had authentic you'll recognize this is watered down to US standards . Setting is lovely and serves the college-age yuppie from Greenwich and North Jersey. Very loud so don't come here if you want to here your friends ; seating is adequate but talker guests should be ready to hunch over your plate . Service on a slow night was less than ; drinks were rail liquor. Again , sip and be seen here if you love the " idea" of saying to friends at work " oh, I know this great ME spot in the Village ."
food not service and night club after 10:30/11pm.
went there for dinner for 2...a friends birthday....food and ambiance was better than expected. Our server was slightly absent as i think they were preparing for the night scene to take over the spot. We asked for a glass of wine and 20 minutes later we received it. I asked for water and i was brought a bottle of water. Overall the place is great as long as you understand that it turns into a night club around 10:30/11.
I'm not in NYC anymore!
This place is so amazing! Service, food and the energy of this is great. You feel like your in a different country far far away! Highly recommend!
DO NOT GO
My party had 10:30 reservations. The table was not ready. After standing in the corner and continuously stepped on for one hour, we were finally seated at 11:30. We waited another half hour for a waitress to come by. At this point we were tired and wanted to order a few Hookahs and some tea. We were told by the "manager" that, after everything, if we don't order dinner we can't sit. I tried explaining how unfair and inappropriate this was but no one seemed to care. After spending over an hour on a Saturday night on this entire ordeal, my party and I just got up and left. This situation was handled very poorly. It became very clear that this establishment cares little about clients. Plenty of other hookah places around. Go somewhere else!
food better than expected
Dark, atmospheric, hookahs on the menu, but someone in the kitchen cares about flavor and presentation. And the very made up costumed waitress actually turned out to be quite efficient and competent.
The server wrote nothing down and as a result got all orders wrong. Would not attempt another visit.
A Tarnished Gem
I used to enjoy going to Le Souk because not only did it have beautiful atmosphere (beautiful colored glass Moroccan lanterns hanging everywhere, cozy nooks that offer semi private settings for groups, fun music, etc.), but it also had great food and service. Upon my most recent visit, I observed several negative changes. The waitstaff seemed confused throughout the entire evening. Our server misinformed us about several items on the menu. The fish that was served me tasted more like catfish than red snapper. We were awkwardly sat at a table where the overhead lighting was like a bright spotlight in our eyes the entire time and there was no music playing, which made it awkward having to listen to our neighbors' crude conversations.
Lots of Food for your $$$!
First time at this restaurant and gladly will return! I found a prixe fix deal on Groupon so purchased. Once you arrive there is a choice of outside dinning or inside. The indoor dinning area is nicely decorated and inviting. The food selection was 5 choices including a dessert. Loved the Halila soup and Beef dinner. The dessert was a pistachio nut baklava with vanilla ice cream.. Yumm! My mouth is still watering from the delicious meal. So much food I had to take half home. Second day taste just as great!
Very strange vibe and staff. Used to be a hot spot a few years ago by has decline considerably due to mismanagement. We left partway through the meal to go somewhere else!
Amazing Place in Greenwich Village
Le Souk was an amazing experience! We went to celebrate a friends birthday, and around 11pm it turns into a night club. Great scene, amazing food, great people. Service was a little off that night, but the experience was so amazing that it didn't matter.
This place is stupid
I get to the door ..they say that they don't have reservation for 11pm.last reservation is 1030pm.. no more tables ...bottle service only at $380 . Smfh ..couldn't even get in to the bar ...
Le Souk is Great!
Consistently over-the-top great Moroccan food! Every dish is perfectly spiced, well presented and perfect portions! The owners are there along with the waitresses, bartenders, whole staff, always showering you with great attention! The owner makes you feel like her closest friend! I adore this place. It feels like coming home and yet the music, the belly dancers, the rose petals scattered on the floors make this place super HOT!
Good food but come early
The food is surprisingly great at Le Souk, but you need to come early before the place adopts a nightclub vibe. We got there at 11pm, and the place had completely changed vibes (compared to a previous experience we had there eating earlier). The loud music and hectic movement made the meal uncomfortable, and while we liked the food, we didn't enjoy the experience. If we came to party, of course, that would be different. But all that said, the onus for this problem falls on us for coming so late, so we just advise arriving before 9pm if you simply want a good Moroccan meal.
Good food, terrible service
There were maybe 4 other tables taken while we were there. I waited 20mins for someone to come up to me once seated, I finally went to the bar to order my drink while I was waiting for the rest of my party. Then we waited another 15 mins before anyone came up to us once the party was complete. Place is very disorganized. Food was good, but not good enough to deal with the neglectful service. Too bad, I used to like this place
Great food, great service, great music, belly dancer was so much FUN! Happiness all around :-)
DO NOT MISS ...
A MUST - relaxed, sexy, GOOD FOOD, GOOD SERVICE, GOOD PRICE ...
Mother and Daughter dinner!
After daughter's last finals for her bachelor's degree, we went to le souk to celebrate... We had a great time
An excellent surprise
My friends and I had a great time and experience. The food on the whole was good. So was the service from the attentive & friendly staff. It also turned into a club later on.
Will never go to this place again and will never recommend to anyone.
Funtastic, sexy, smooth
Le Souk is by far one of my favorite spots to hit up when I'm in the City. I always have a great time. Great place. Sexy people and amazing music. Can't wait to get back again!
