Great dinner. The Lamb Meatballs were fantastic and the service was delightful as usual. I have eaten here many times and they consistently provide a pleasent experience!

constructive criticism: music, tho lovely, was too loud for comfortable conversation w/fellow diners.
The restaurant was recommended to me by a colleague and friend who has enough money to dine well. I took my girlfriend and her daughter there to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. The food was adequate to good but for what I paid, I believe it was overpriced. In fact, I'm not even sure that the check was added up correctly and I did not like the way the bill was made out on those tiny slips of paper. One further complaint: there were only three entrées available, a fish, oxtails, and pork sausage. A little more variety is desirable. in short, La Posta was overpriced and embarrassingly pretentious. I have dined at some of New York and Paris's best restaurants — and San Francisco too. there would be no reason for my ever returning to this particular restaurant. Splendid food can be found in downtown Santa Cruz called Café Mare. The portions of food, the variety of the menu, and the service is first class for a town the size of Santa Cruz.

Delicious handmade pasta and pizza. We went after friends visited and recommended. We were a little nervous that there would be nothing for the kids but happily they offer a plain pizza/pasta for littles.
Excellent Neighborhood Gem
This place is an excellent local spot in Santa Cruz. I had the Halibut and my wife had the fresh crab and pasta special and we were both very happy with our choices. All the food is from local sources and it comes through in the quality. They also have a locals night on Thursdays that is a great and economical way to enjoy the local flavors. We have been to this place on several occasions and we will continue to frequent them.

I love La Posta: the food is very good to fabulous; the service is attentive and never intrusive; Neighborhood Night is lively and affordable; and the music is the perfect touch to bring it all together! Thank you Patrice!
We arrived at La Posta purely on spec, and had a wonderful, truly delicious meal and experience. We look forward to coming back.
Another glorious meal at La Posta!
The saffron pappardelle with braised lamb was divine, as were the Little Gem lettuces. The coconut stracciatella gelato and buttermilk sorbetto were a hearteningly light finish to a splendid meal.
Absolutely fresh, delicate pasta
Wonderful blend of flavors in every dish. Definitely for foodies, but the less adventurous can enjoy too. Kids might find the ingredients on the pizzas too exotic.

Great find thanks to a friend. Pasta dishes was prepared well, entree a plus. I highly recommend the old post office
Wine and food were overpriced. Service was 2 stars. The acoustics are not good, it is a loud, to the point of being uncomfortable. The table next to us and they are very close together had a child who was not well behaved.
delicious homemade pasta, also tried the salumi plate, very good but looked a bit naked to see slices of cured meat on a the big plate, would have liked to see a better presentation, but food was good, atmosphere nice and attentive services. will go back to try other items on the menu.
This is our go to destination for special dinners!

Overall great experience. Our servers were top service. The food on the other hand was a bit pricy for the amount given, but was good nonetheless. Wish we had a little more variety in picking but it was Valentine's Day. Having the wine pairings was a big plus. Would come again, only on special occasions though.
It's another one of those restaurants that I'd wanted to try for ages. Some never get on the list. This one did. The service was attentive, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious - roasted carrots were a nice change of pace for a salad with a deliciously simple vinaigrette. My lasagnette pasta was tasty and tasty. Portions were on the smaller side, but plenty of food. Price wasn't cheap, but we walked out talking about the evening, not about the price, a good sign. We'll go back. Wish our affogatto had whipped cream on it, but cheap enough that we each got our own, which was good.
t Mediocre Food/Edible - Not worth the money
I had sole, friend had pork saltimbocca. Neither was tasty or prepared well. The pork was not tender and some new invention of saltimbocca that does not fit traditional delicious dish. Salad of hot root vegetables not tantalizing/flavorful. The sole poached without a flavor. $57 pp including a glass of house wine and tip. Spent $73 at Chez Panisse for salad, dinner and dessert and coffee for lunch and it was orgasmic - sole. Wouldn't go back to La Postaand waste money. Conversation and evening nice but not thanks to restaurant. Also pushy to turn table. Geez.
So nice to have you in Santa Cruz
The food is always wonderful and service fun and friendly. The appetizers are among the very best in this area. The salads never fail to please. The desserts are to die for. Unfortunately I filled up too much on the scrumptious main course. :( I would go back tomorrow !!!
Enjoyed our date night
Posta is a nice romantic neighbor spot. The food is creative, fresh, and tasty. They have a nice selection of Italy wines by the glass and the bottle. We have been there many times and have always enjoyed it.
The best little restaurant in Santa Cruz.
The food is always a surprise and always wins you over. Their wine list is mainly european, so indices you to explore. We have found some of our most enjoyable wines on their list.
Just moved into the neighborhood and a friend recommended this place. It was wonderful. The service was wonderful; the food fresh and interesting without being too trendy and the wine list (did a fun flight of reds) was great. Highly recommend.
First time eating here, although I have lived in the neighborhood for five years and kept hearing that it was a must. It may have been an off night, or maybe my expectations were too high. We both ordered appetizers and pizzas. Can't remember what it was. My appetizer was the tagliatelle, it was bland. The pizza dough was thin and rather dry, the wine glasses less than half filled, but the desserts were tasteful. American sized portions, plentiful. Staff friendly and warm. Overpriced, uninspired, won't go back.
Perfect romantic evening
Loved this spot! Webt for the first time on our anniversary and although we are not accustomed to fine italian dining, the waitress was very helpful. The food was some of the best I have ever eaten and the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. Recommend it highly.
Warm comfortable neighborhood spot, yummy food
We live in Santa Cruz, dine out maybe once or twice a month, and love La Posta. It is so comfortable, has delicious food, feels like a neighborhood place, but also a special occasion spot. All 4 people in our family have chosen it for their birthday dinners. The waitpeople are friendly, knowledgeable. My husband and I once sat at the bar for dinner, and the bartender was delightful. I don't know much about wines..so he educated us some, gave us some tastes, and clearly just wanted us to enjoy it, and to notice some of the differences among some red wines. (We did!) Also, we've enjoyed the music on Tuesday's. The two musicians seem like part of the family...
The food was great, the portions were way too small, including appetizers. Wine list was ok
Another good meal at La Posta
We had another very good meal at La Posta -- but just not quite up to their usual excellence. It could have been our menu choices and/or being overfull in general during the holiday season. We had the rotelle pasta with lamb, a vegan pizza and baked trout. All dishes were very good -- but fell short of excellent. Love La Posta and will definitely go back again -- I think it was just an off night for us and them.
The service and the food were great!
They told us we didn't get points. Is that true!
Disappointed from moment we walked in.
Hostess was unpleasant.... stuck us in back when we commented we'd like to be upfront. Waiter was good, food was disappointing with the exception of antipasta special. Expected more for our money. Probably just had bad night.

Always fresh and delicious
We tried the mixed seafood stew. It was full of delicate flavors. For desert we had the lemon cream which was excellent - great combination of persimmon pomegranate and lemon cream. So fresh and vibrant.

My husband, daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner experience at La Posta. The wait staff was incredible and the food - absolutely delicious! The flavors and combinations of ingredients were intriguing and did not disappoint. We will definitely return!
Outstanding pizza......couipled with an exellent waiter (Aaron). Will most certainly return!
Knowledgable wine guy good rustic Italian chow especially on a cool fall night. Quick drive to Mariannes for ice cream. BOOM!
brought friends from Santa Barbara, havent seen for 15 years...usually love La Posta but this Sat. was horrible...the Saltebocca was dry! salty!! veggies were the only thing good. my Gnocci was rubbery, however the sauce was wonderful. the soup was just mussles could not taste the other fishes/shellfish. the appetizer was the only thing great! ...sigh....will not go back for a while....
Difficult to decide between all the great dishes at Posta! We went with the fall veggie salad with buttermilk dressing which was a lovely crunchy slaw type salad. I followed with the gnocchi with braised pork in a coffee orange sauce - exquisite flavor combination and the meat was tender and flavorful. My wife had the halibut and thought it was the best she'd ever had. All in all a great spot to dine in Santa Cruz!
Great tasty, warm and friendly spot in Santa Cruz. Reminds me of a highly-rated and recommended Italian restaurant in South Beach (yes, FL). Starter "lettuces" salad was "just picked" fresh and cannelloni was delicious. Only questions - why out of the halibut special by 7:00 p.m. and why no California wines on the wine list? Otherwise, fun and delicious.
Pleasantly surprised word of mouth works. no ads
The best dining experience I have had in all of Santa Cruz. Out of the way of the crowds of a tourist town. Well sized portions for a moderate appetite. The salad was fresh right out of the garden and the halibut was excellent. The two of us celebrated our wedding anniversary there but we will return with some of our favorite friends. Service was excellent, not overbearing and we didn't feel rushed although it was very busy. Suggest you make a reservation as it has developed quite a reputation. I didn't realize eating could be such a pleasurable experience.
Fantastic as always!
The service and food are always above and beyond great. The wines are above par and the servers are very helpfull in making the best choice.

Had another outstanding dinner and sat at our favorite table too!
Good food, if a bit spendy.
The food was quite good, especially the Brussells Sprouts side dish. The White Sea Bass was excellent but at $29 it was a bit steep for a small entree. The clams and pasta dish was a bit disappointing, too. OK, but just not exceptional.
