La Dolce Vita - Detroit Ratings and Reviews
Great food, not-so-great mimosas
The seafood quiche was excellent--and with the potatoes, we could have easily split it. The restaurant has a signature coffee with cinnamon which we did not care for but if you like a bit of cinnamon in your coffee you'll enjoy it. The mimosas, however, left almost everything to be desired. The orange juice was watery made-from-concentrate. For $6, they could serve mimosas made with really good orange juice and still make a nice profit.

Love this place! Besides authentic Italian Cuissean, the quaint Tuscan style of the building sets the mood for a great dining experience! Excellent service and knowledge staff! One of my favorites :)
Brunch is so good and great fun. Always outstanding food and service!
I love this restaurant but don't order perch.
My perch was served sandwiched between a sauce and mashed potatoes so it was soggy and didn't taste like perch at all.
great dinner at la dolce vita
we went to la dolce vita for my friends birthday. we had a great time. the food was great and the service was great too!
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary it was the best experience ever . Going back to celebrate my birthday this month with the rest of the family .For sure they will love the food like we did. Also will bring some friends so they can also experienced what my husband and I did .
Good italian food
Nice place to meet up near ferndale/detroit. if you can hit them up during restaurant week it's a great bargain. I hear their brunch is phenomenal. if you go during nice weather try to snag a spot outside. A little pricey but service and food are good.
Old School Elegance
Travel back in time to when Palmer Park was the place to live and you will find a neighborhood gem! Fabulous branch menu, solid dinner menu, beautiful surroundings and attentive service. The ONLY issue is finding the restaraunt. On east side of Woodward across from Palmer Park, but entrance is through alley off side street. Valet parking so it is safe. Treat yourself to an old school night out.
One meal came cold and had to sent back. Another meal, the vegetables were lukewarm. Do not think waiter was attentive as he could have been.
Our experience at dinner was outstanding.
For first timers, be warned that it is hard to identify the restaurant off Woodward. Look for a grilled outdoor seating area as you get near. Access to valet parking is through an alley north of the restaurant.
Favorite Detroit Restaurant
When doing to downtown, this is our favorite restaurant on the way.
Worth the drive
We have a La Dolce Vita in Shelby Township, about 3 miles away. Yet we drive almost 20 miles to visit the Woodward location because the ambience and the waiters make dining there so enjoyable.
Sunday morning brunch
The food is great and I love the bottomless Mimosas and live music. The atmosphere is loud and a bit chaotic -- so it isn't the right place for you if you are looking for a quiet, intimate brunch. Also -- be prepared to wait a bit for your table even with reservations.
Great food, noise level excessive
The music/noise level is conversation-prohibitive. We love the food, the service and the setting. However, when the music is playing it is difficult to have a normal dinner conversation.
Lunch With A Friend
Lunch was absolutely delightful! I would most certainly dine there again. It would have been more fun to have been in the midst of others in the restaurant. We were the only two people there after another two or three people left before we were served.

This was the first time my friend had been to LDV. She ordered the salmon hash. Although she liked it, she would have preferred her eggs fried instead of poached. I really enjoyed my eggs sardou! Impeccable as always.
La Dolce Vita - Rocks Detroit!!
I love this restaurant. I love the food, the ambience, energy and great service. I have not had a bad experience, the most fun for brunch I have ever had. I would highly recommend this restaurant...come, this is the place to be seen. Small but mighty!!!! Bring your friends and family and enjoy the great jazz and meal to boot!
Service was good. Food, tasteless. Appetizers, calamari good, stuffed mushrooms, good. Artichokes, tasteless.
Great food in a warm and cozy atmosphere. Consistently good and professional service. Definately my go to place before and after downtown cultural events.

This was an awesome place to go for Brunch. Live music and the service as well as food was top notch. I truly enjoyed the area and the atmosphere. It was on point and I encourage anyone to have a reservation if they plan to attend because the wait times are long and the live band makes for a great interactive experience.
A Detroit Gem!
La Solve Vita, offers great service and food for the sophisticated foodie. If you are looking to dine in less than2 hours, this is the place. La Solve Vita , expects servers to flip their tables every hour and a half. This is my only downfall with this restaurant. After our time was up, the server was quick to let us know, that we had to leave. Bummer, for everyone at our table.

It was a real disappointment. The portions were small and pricey. The sauces were bland. We won't be back.
Nice place, good food and good service. Want to go back to try the outdoor patio seating.
Wonderful restaurant in lDetroit
Consistently good food and great menu. I've never been disappointed by La Dolce Vita.
Valentine date night
My wife and I had our very first date at La Docle Vita nearly 8 years ago. Our Valentine's dinner was fabulous...from the service, prompt seating at our reserved table, to the ability to order from a full menu versus a truncated Valentine's menu. This place is very romantic, and a great value for the dollar. Live music in the bar filtered through the restaurant. Nice leisurely dinner with my bride, highly recommend this place for authentic italian.
Strange neighborhood, but great restaurant
Went here for a Valentine's brunch. We both got the shrimp benedict. Very tasty. The only downside to this restaurant is the area it is in. It seems randomly plopped in the middle of a run-down residential area. Not very pleasant to look at, and didn't feel very safe parking my car on the street. Ended up being fine.
Great first time experience.
Made reservations for a special Valentines Day date. The brunch, service and ambiance is fantastic. Can't wait to go back with friends for dinner.

Great spot for the missus and I to celebrate Valentine's Day. We had a wonderful brunch, great service and food was perfect.
In the heart of Detroit! When you walk in you would never think it would be that nice on the inside. Great bar, service was excellent. Glad I picked this for valentines day.
Nice but expected more
We went Saturday night before Valentines day. We arrived on time and the table was running behind 15 minutes. Our server was friendly but not urgent. Cocktail sat empty and we never were offered bread until our entree arrived. No butter or oil offered. Good food but it was not quite what we expected .

Loved our meals and the service was excellent! We will definitely be coming back.
Everything about this place is top notch. The service is impeccable. Food is second to none. With all the nice places to go in Birmingham this is worth the drive to Detroit.
Time limit to your dining?
We arrived and were seated at the table next to the door on a ZERO degree day with only two other tables seated. We were told by the hostess that we would only be allowed an hour and a half as they were "busy" as it was Valentine Saturday. I questioned her and she just snapped back the same statement. We watched her seat other guests who did not have the comment made to them. There were an average of 3-5 tables open the entire time we were there. Server was good, food fabulous as always. We received a nice greeting by waiter John as he had recognized us from our several prior visits. We did not rush but did not enjoy our visit after the hostess put us on alert as to just how busy busy was....or was not. I wore my coat the entire meal....a cozy warm back wall table would have been nicer. We will return. Hoping the hostess gets schooled as her blatant disregard for grace and common courtesy is non-existent.
Caesar - Marsala - Tiramisu...Simply the Best!
Truly a hidden Gem in the north Woodward Corridor of Detroit. We passed the small blue ldv sign for years. Fortunately we discovered that behind the sign was one of the best Italian restaurants in metro Detroit. The table-side Caesar salad is a must - we order it every time we go. The other absolute must order item is the Chicken Marsala. We guarantee you have never had a Marsala sauce anywhere near as good as La Dolce Vita. The Chicken Marsala completely brings out the "Dolce" of ldv. Finally, never end a meal at ldv without a deliciously fresh piece of the house-made Tiramisu.
Seating in the backtoom
Our overall experience at la Dolce Vita was fabulous! But, when one enters a restaurant with an early reservation, it is quite rude to seat you in the back room that is empty while the front dining room had more than enough empty tables to accommodate the two of us. I objected and was seated in the front dining room.
Whenever we go downtown from Bloomfield Hills, we usually have dinner here. If we didn't think it was great, we wouldn't come back.
