Junoon Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Excellent Resturant with great food and ambient!!
One of the finest Resturant in the city. Food taste and Resturant ambient is excellent for your special occasion . Chefs greet you personally and know how to make your special occasion memorable. Love this Resturant .
A Passionate Affair!
Junoon never fails! We tried the tasting menu this time and absolutely loved it. The variety induced by some amazing combinations by the chef are truly remarkable - from start to finish. Arturo made the process exciting and enjoyable and was extremely helpful with the menu selection. And of course Michael's impeccable guidance with the wine selection took us to places we have never been before :-)) Thanks team Junoon for another memorable experience!
Nothing too memorable

Food was good as always. Absolutely disappointed with the service - made reservations a week in advance for a birthday dinner, was not told on the same day confirmation call the air conditioning was not working. Food took over an hour plus to be served. Not a single apology from the staff even though I mentioned multiple times they should have informed me on the phone earlier. A big fan of the restaurant and Vikas, ultra disappointed with the service.

We are still savoring our delicious meal at Junoon last week. Their tender succulent kebabs delicately infused with spices and the accompanying sauces are absolutely outstanding. The curry dishes are very flavorful yet mild. The manager, Deepak Shah, is by far the most gracious and hospitable host one can find. His warmth, generosity and keen desire to share new dishes is totally infectious. The staff is attentive yet discreet. The restaurant exudes the finest in hospitality and Indian cuisine. The decor is very pleasant with great touches of Rajasthani art.
Dissatisfied. Have had much better Indian food.
Nice ambiance. Over-priced. Over-hyped. Will not return or recommend.
Great though sometimes uneven.
The room is comfortable and quiet, though some might find it dark. An open kitchen can make the place a bit close and stuffy. Staff is outstanding and helpful. The food is generally great, though the mains are better than the starters. An unexpectedly great wine list. Not even inexpensive, but worth the price overall.
Unbelievably creative take on typical indian fare
Combination of spices was original and surprising. Everything cooked to perfection with the added touch of original chutneys including pineapple, really making for an amazing experience. Service was maybe a tad slow, but didn't effect our timetable fortunately and without prompting, they provided extra glasses of wine and an apology. Atmosphere was lively and almost hip, but not quite which was pleasant change for indian restaurant. Dance music in background was so dull you had to struggle to hear which was good, because otherwise might have been a negative. Tables were refreshingly placed with enough distance that you weren't distracted by neighboring conversation. Have already recommended to some of the most discerning palates and will continue to do so. Can't wait to return.
Had high hopes but came back disappointed
The ambiance and food is great. The food was spicier than other regular Indian places. It was great for me (having grown in India with spicy food), but a little too much for my American colleagues. The preparation was good and the food was actually very tasty. We were disappointed with the service at this place. A meal that should have taken us at most 1.5 hours, took almost 2.5 hours with a lot of waiting in between the courses. The billing process was also painfully slow as we kept waiting for someone to appear. I was warned by a colleague that the service would be "poor" but I wanted to really go to this place as I had heard so much. Well, I guess I trust my colleague's recommendations even more now!
Excellent Lunch Choice...Great Indian Food!
Awww-some food & great value! I highly recommend ordering "Jon Snow" drink. Hara Bara kebabs are very average but overall it was a great experience...
Third time here
This was my third time at Junoon but first during lunch. During dinner, they've been absolutely amazing. The food tastes phenomenal and the service is great too. During lunch, I'd say the service was average but the food was still very good. I'd highly recommend this restaurant for dinner but not so much for lunch/brunch.
Always enjoy pre fix at Junoon. The menu changes slightly. I love love love every dish on offer. The deserts were super splendid
Good food but the service was not uptp scratch
As much as I was excited to visit, I was equally disappointed with the level of service and attention of detail the service team has. Bad food can be covered by excellent service but when good food gets over shadowed by poor service, what do we say?
for the amount of money they charge the quality of the food and the bathrooms are horrible. everything we ordered was over salted.

This was the worst dining experience ever! It's so hot in the restaurant and It was extremely uncomfortable. The food was not good at all. The service was decent. Will definitely not every visit this restaurant again. I would recommend if you want good Indian food go somewhere else. If you see this restaurant while walking then run the other way. It also has a B rating.

Excellent food, but the lounge-y ambiance seriously detracted from the meal. The noise level--including the background music--was way too high for dinner conversation. Too bad, because our meal was delicious. The restaurant needs to make up its mind as to whether it's a club/lounge or a place for gourmet dining. The two cannot really coexist.
Very good food, but very poor service.
We were met by a very nice woman in the door - but from there it only went downhill. Very good food, but with waiters like that, I can not recommend this restaurant.

The food and atmosphere are nice. The staff is extremely disorganized. I had three waiters, three managers, and two hostesses interact with me; six people too many, because each seemed to assume that someone else was taking care of things. I had made it clear that I needed to leave in time for a 7 PM premiere composed by a friend of mine, at St. Ignatius Loyola, 3.5 miles away. And yet I was not seated at my reservation time (5:30 -- I arrived at 4:45 to be safe); I received my take-home portion late (apparently because no one had given me a claim number); and there was no cab as I had requested, a feature touted on their website. When a manager finally walked me to the end of the block and hailed a cab for me, it was 7:10. Twenty minutes later, I arrive to hear the last two minutes of my friend's piece from the lobby. I flew 1,500 miles for that specific performance. I was bitterly disappointed by my treatment at Junoon -- surely other patrons have supper before showtimes?
Great upscale Indian
Good wine list and excellent food. Expensive but good.
Quality was very good but not enough vegetarian choices on the Menu
Great food, very poor service!
Food was very good but it took 30 minutes for the restaurant to seat us and then another hour (yes, hour) for the food to come. So all in, not a great experience.
A Wonderful Experience!!
we really enjoyed Junoon.. it's an upscale Indian restaurant which gives an opportunity to enjoy the traditional Indian cuisine with beautiful presentations and a western twist. We simply loved all our courses along with the cocktails. I was hoping to meet their executive chef but he was not there. He certainly has given a classic intelligent touch to his dishes at Junoon. We will be definitely going back!!!
Excellent Indian Food
Full disclosure, I am of Indian descent, so I am very particular when it comes to Indian cuisine or "twists" on traditional Indian cuisine. Junoon is my absolute favorite restaurant for Indian fine dining in New York City. Excellent food, dessert and chai, and an amazing wine selection with a very helpful, and knowledgeable Sommelier.
Great food, unpleasant service
While the food was terrific (and inventive), we had a very surly, mostly inattentive server (details provided directly to the restaurant only) which diminished our enjoyment considerably. I don't know if this is indicative of their normal service, but it is the reason that I cannot without hesitation recommend this restaurant.
Junoon food great, Service poor
Service from the moment we were seated was not good and got progressively worse till we walked out the door! Hostess gave us two different menus; one was wrong. Waitress took way too long to get to us to welcome and pour water, young waiter took our drinks order only to come back more than five mins later to say 'no absolute' and 'what kind of dewers do you want'? We then waited close to ten minutes more to get the drinks. We were seated for 45 mins and still waitress nor that waiter came back for our order. Only three other tables were in view!! And a manager chose an area close to our table to train bus staff on the how-to stuff! So, don't expect decent service! But the food was really good.

The food was expertly prepared with thorough explanations of the make up of the dishes given. The serving staff were very thorough and the chocolate dessert is to die for!!! Highlight of the night was when the head chef came out to talk to us, a very nice touch.

The menu was rather exotic. But the curry was really good and I would personally highly recommend the eggplant tomato curry. The cost was low and the staff was friendly! :)
More to Indian food than just spice !, Luxury
Hands down one of the best Indian Restarunts in NYC. Delicate balance of flavors , coupled with Vikas's amazing tecniques takes the experince to whole different level.

Incredible food and great ambience. Definitely the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to. It is a bit annoying that you have to get the fixed menu. May not work well if it is a couple actually. But food was really delicious and not very heavy.
Not the same Junoon
We've enjoyed the prix-fixe lunch menu at Junoon for several years. However, this time was different: the large dining room--always serene and wonderful-- is now closed, at least for lunch--except, we were told, for large groups--, so we were seated in the quite noisy and crowded bar area. Conversing and dining here, we found, was a whole different experience. Service, especially immediately after arriving, was also spotty: after being seated, we waited for at least 10 minutes before someone noticed we hadn't even been given menus, and more time elapsed before we were offered water. Things did pick up after we managed to place our order, so perhaps we just arrived at a particularly busy time. The food, however, was perhaps better than ever--especially the desserts. (Kudos to the dessert chef!) I love the vegetarian thali; my companion chose from the larger prix-fixe menu and was more than pleased.

Nice twist to Indian food, presentation was great and service was attentive
I went for dinner and the only option was the tasting menu I would have liked more variety and other options for a small group
My company attends a dinner at Junoon once a year when we are in the city for a work conference. While pricey (to anyone unaccustomed to the high costs in NYC), the food, service, and setting are all top-notch. Our server was attentive and his menu recommendations were spot-on. Everybody in my party left with a full belly and a smile on our faces.
Poor Service, Excellent Food
On a valentine's day Pre-fix menu of $65 per person, I was charged for Paneer Mirchi Ka Salan ($18) and an extra drink ($14). I normally don't look over straight forward checks, but two main managers did not quite look honest. I hesitated a bit while handing the check back to one of them with my credit card and as soon as I said: "I see another charge..." & I did not even finish, he said: "Oh, my bad, I will take it off, I will be right back", and just walked off. This also happened to one of my friend recently. I am unsure if Vikas Khanna is aware of such practices carried out by his managers at his Michelin Star restaurant, but it certainly does not seem like an error if it occurs frequently and if they fix it and walk off as soon as the customer hesitates to pay the check. Other than that, food is just excellent. You would have never tasted food like this before for sure. Vikas, if you are reading this review, you need to change your management to get another Michelin Star and definitely need to replace these two managers.

Lovely Valentine's Day lunch
I've been waiting to go to Junoon for a really long time. And Finally was able to find a table through opentable on Valentine's day for lunch. I was super surprised. We went in and were greeted warmly and seated. I loved the menu. They had some really interesting items which I haven't seen in any of the other Indian restaurants. The cocktails were also great. I tried the one called Time after Thyme. Not only did it have a great name, it was well made too! I ordered a Thali - not sure if that was a Valentine's day special or not. Overall great!
