Super crowded with a cheer competition at the convention next door and prom season, but the entire staff was extremely patient; especially our waiter Jonathan. Food was fabulous and the sunset view from the patio was fantastic. Be sure to make reservations if you do not want a long wait!
Beautiful View, but food is so-so
I dine at Jackson's frequently. It is near my home and my son and I enjoy walking to the restaurant. It is located on the Bay and has a stunning view of Tampa. Jackson's has a beautiful outdoor seating area and nothing beats the ambiance. That being said, I have to say that I am less than enthralled with the food selection. It's ok, but nothing spectacular. They recently changed the menu and I am going to try some new things going forward, but so far, it's - well, ok. It also seems to take forever for anything to come to the table - most of the servers are friendly and want to be helpful, but things take a long time. If you enjoy a beautiful ambiance and don't mind waiting, then give it a try. If you want an outdoor table, reservations are a must. You never know what events are going on downtown.
good waterfront restaurant
Great sunsets, good food, outside tables a little too small for 4 people, but overall, a good experience.

Lobster Carbonara was delicious! Service was wonderful! I highly recommend this restaurant!
Great service and food
4 of us dined on a Saturday night. We had reservations and were seated close to our reservation time even though the restaurant was packed with prom night groups. Although the food was a bit slower than usual because of the large crowd, it was still reasonably timely and great quality. We all had different seafood dishes and enjoyed them all. My scallops were perfectly cooked, not a single over-cooked one which can make them rubbery and tough. They were all sweet and tender! Restaurant has a great view outside and the outside bar is a great place for a pre-dinner drink. We will be back!

Evening to Remember
I went to a sunset dinner with a date. Weather was perfect, sunset was perfect. We arrived early and had a drink at the outdoor bar with a live band. Then dinner on the patio. Sushi and swordfish were both excellent. Very courteous and attentive staff.
Great sushi for appys. Varied menu for everyone and a beautiful view. Great outdoor bar with music.
I took my 2 friends from out of town here for dinner on a Monday night. It was a perfect evening sunset view from the outside dining tables and we were all blown away by the food. Calamari, salmon flatbread, ahi tuna...all of it..so delicious!

Food was good, service extremely slow. Salads came with entrees rather than before.
We love Jackson's!
Lots of creative options, fresh sushi. This was a beautiful Sunday afternoon in April. Loved sitting on deck overlooking the water, live music, just wonderful. We arrived just when the mandatory $27 buffet ended at 2:30, so we were able to order from the menu. The buffet looked good, but it would have been a waste on our picky-eater daughter.
Night of peace
I needed time away. A moment to regroup. The ambiance was great
Awesome lobster Bisque!
Awesome lobster Bisque!
Jackson's Bistro is THE BEST spot in Tampa.
The food is excellent. Service is excellent. View is excellent. Sunday Brunch is delicious and affordable. We live nearly an hour away, so this isn't our normal restaurant. When we do come in to Tampa, we make sure we are going to Jackson's!
Awesome food, views, and service.
Had the opportunity to visit Jacksons twice while inTampa, and both visits did not disappoint. The waterfront view was awesome, the food was excellent, and our waiter was extremely attentive. We will definitely visit Jacksons again.
Had to wait forever for our lunch. There were a lot of big parties booked and apparently they were understaffed. It happens but our waiter was so clueless and we hardly saw him. Bad experience overall
We sat by the water. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was absolutely anazing. I'm not a big salad person but I ate a salad that had salmon and feta. It was soo good. We also had sushi for brunch. I been dreaming about that salad since that day. I can't wait to go back.

I have never written a review but felt compelled to write about our experience for the first time. This by far has been one of the worst services ever. Service was very slow(by slow I mean an hour or so) and food was just OK. We will never be going back or we will not be recommending this to our friends.
Dining with a view
Jackson's is a wonderful restaurant with a great view plus a extensive menu. Would recommend dining there on any visit to Tampa.
Dining on the water
Visiting from California ~ excellent outside dining ~ wonderful service that was over the top! The weather started to change just as we ordered. Heavy rain came down ~ and our waitress did everything ~ including moving us to a window view ~ to make us happy. Great food, good wine, reasonable prices…. just sorry that we don't have Jackson's Bistro in Northern California.
Great Dining Experience
Excellent service and food was excellent. Extensive wine list. Portions were on the smaller side but very good.

A little pricey for what we got. Four of us ate for just under $200 with no alcohol drinks. Probably would have felt more like fine dining if we ate inside for the type of food we ordered.
Downtown/Channelside hot spot
As a Channelside resident, Jackson's continues to evolve in quality and food. It is now always packed at dinner, with a reservation required whether sitting inside or outside to enjoy the amazing waterfront view of channel. I learned it is under partial new ownership and the evolution makes sense! From crab cakes, to whole hog snapper, to snapper, there is something (delicious) for everyone. A decent wine list, too! You can tell there is commitment to make Jackson's outstanding. As much as I am thrilled at the improvements and success, gone are the days I could walk up and sit right down for an impromptu dinner! Hooray for them and downtown Tampa!
We chose this restaurant because we wanted Sushi and although there was a wide selection, the sushi was not especially fresh nor special.
Our meal was delicious. We ordered the crab cake and french onion soup for starters. Both were excellent. For the main course we had the prime rib stuffed with a filet Mignon medallion and a small filet. Both were excellent. Had coffee and creme brulle for dessert. Service was excellent and friendly. Would definitely go again.
Great downtime dining in Tampa
Visit here on a Thursday evening - great weather to sit outside and enjoy the Tampa waterfront area. Service was attentive and quick - had sashimi appetizer and then fresh fish entree. Food was good, well prepared but not spectacular - just met our needs. The view is the primary reason to go here. I would return when back in the area.
Our server was rude and the food was sub-par. We've been dining at Jackson's for years and this was our first poor experience.
A pleasant surprise!
I was pleasantly surprised by the food & atmosphere here. It was a really good time with real good food.

Diverse menu options, attentive service. The only issue was that in Florida there are no laws against smoking in outdoor areas, and someone at the table next to us smoked for the entire meal. Our waitress was apologetic about it even though there was nothing she could do.

The hostess was rude. The waitress was inexperenced. She spilled my drink and didn't clean it up. The salad came with entree and when I questioned it, she saus, oh, I thought you wanted it together. She took bread away when we were still eating it. She asked me if I wanted coffee while my husband was still eating entree and looked dumbfounded when we asked for the check, it took 20 minutes to bring to us. Food was great but we won't go back. It's a shame too, because 3 managers hovered behind our booth all night and they never thought to ask us if we were alright.
My wife and I had our rehearsal dinner here 5 years ago and come back every year to celebrate our anniversary. I can't say enough about the best water view restaurant in the Tampa Bay area, scenic views, great ambiance and wonderful food brings us back year after year.
Nice view. Hilariously bad service.
We ordered two appetizers and three rolls of sushi. It took almost three hours. If the view wasn't amazing and we weren't just relaxing the evening away it would have been a HORRIBLE dining experience. Waiter was clueless. No urgency.
Come for the view, not necessarily the food
I had dinner at Jackson's on a Friday evening with friends. We were in town for a conference and if you're by the convention center, you can't miss Jackson's. It seems an obvious place to go because of its location and the view. That's the best thing going for it--and if you do go, for heaven's sake, sit outside! I had looked at the menu ahead of time and, well, it's kind of schizophrenic. Are they a bistro? Are they a sushi place? Are they a cocktail spot? Are they a steak place? I guess the answer to all of those questions is...yes? I assumed going in that if they're trying to be so many things, they probably aren't really great at any of them. After going, I think that assumption was right. The good news is, they do all of those things just fine. Their food isn't going to knock your socks off, but it will be good enough and you'll leave satisfied (as long as you weren't expecting a culinary triumph!) The service wasn't amazing. We waited an incredibly long time for an appetizer that should have taken no time to prepare (edamame). It actually came with our entrees and was really overcooked. I've never had mushy edamame and I don't think I'd want to again. One of my friends is pregnant and asked for a mocktail. You'd think at a place that tries to bill itself as having a nice cocktail list would at least have an idea how to make a non-alcoholic version. Instead our waiter offered her a smoothie. That was...weird. So, take home message: go to Jackson's if you want a lovely outdoor spot to have a relaxing meal with friends. Don't go if you're wanting great service or food.
Jacksons a triple treat!
Jackson is the Triple Treat with the delicious food, amazing views and fantastic service. We sat on the balcony outside looking over the water and the Tampa skyline and watched the sun set which was magical. Our waiter John Paul gave us exceptional service and the food was out of this world. We had a smaller table but there were also larger groups having a wonderful time. I would highly recommend!
