Il Posto Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
Previous good reviews but the food was just OK.
After seeing several good reviews and positive recommendations for this restaurant we made a reservation for one of the three nights in Napa. All three of us in our party were disappointed. The service was good but all of our food was just ok. Nothing special at all!

The food was really good. Wine prices are reasonable. It is a bit noisy.
I always enjoy going to Il Posto, although reservations are usually a good idea. The food is always perfectly prepared and service excellent. It's one of my regular spots.

Good food, good time!
I got the chicken parm and the asparagi salad -- both were delicious! I have to say, the chicken parm is probably one of the best I've ever had -- served over pasta and red sauce. Great menu and wine list, and the price is right!

What a surprise find!
The space is not going to inspire or give one a perception of fine dining. However, I love being surprised by my lowered expectations. The food and wine were not your everyday run of the mill Italian. We loved the gnocchi and rabbit cacciatore. The wine was paired well at the suggestion of waiter! Will be back next time in area.
Consistently delcious food!
We've dined at Il Posto several times and we're never disappointed. The servers are so attentive and kind it makes dining there such a pleasure. The Italian food is very authentic and the restaurant presents a warm, inviting environment. Highly recommend!
As always...everything was great. Love this place
Il Posto was fantastic as per usual. Reasonable wine list, great food! Had the lasagna special and the always good fusilli!
Went here for a birthday dinner which was a fabulous experience. We are in love with the fried olives!!! My beloved and I split the 16 ounce ribeye steak which was grilled to perfection. Will definitely be back when we head up to pick up our next wine shipments.
We love this place!
This is a great restaurant for locals and a perfect find for tourists. The food is always great and the service is perfect. I never have to ask for anything. They are on the spot, always.

Took my family to lunch to celebrate my youngest daughter getting her drivers license. Everyone enjoyed their food and the service was very attentive.
Great neighborhood gem
So, we're at Raymond Wineries and asked the the tasting room manager, Bill, for recommendations on dinner. Bill sent us to Il Posto and it was the best recommendation of the weekend. So, Il Posto is your neighborhood trattoria. Not fancy, but great food reasonably priced. The service is fantastic, and my friends and I had a wonderful time that evening. I would highly recommend it to anybody in the Napa valley if you are looking for a convenient, comfortable tasty place to go!
Charming delicious local spot
We enjoyed an excellent meal, the calamari appetizer is super, and not deep fried, which is great...a tasty marinara sauce came with it. Hubby had the combo lunch, and the pasta soup was outstanding, as well as the spaghetti, with fabulous meatballs. Excellent lunch, and we will be back... What a local gem, and they have a happy hour menu, too!

Nice surprise away from the main Napa center
We looked for an Italian Restaurant near my mom's new home and our hotel, found this online, and we were pleased with the atmosphere inside, the attention from the owner and his staff, and the good food. My mom is 90 and loves pasta with butter and Parmesan and they had it as a side dish, perfect serving for her, and she was quite happy. I had gnocchi with pork belly and mushrooms, the gnocchi were homemade and fluffy and the pork belly was perfectly seasoned and rendered. My fiancée had pasta with bolognese and ate every bite. Wine list is decent. The outside doesn't give a good impression of what you will find inside, it is part of a small shopping center and adjacent to a tax service, but it is well worth going in. It's a bit pricey, but this is Napa, and the food is high quality.
Great 1st visit & to see Justin
We had rezos, were seated promptly; food great; ambiance festive, and stayed til almost closing. Wonderful 1st visit. Would LOVE to see some Flora Springs on the Wine List too! :-)

Wife and I visited Napa on a day trip. Found this place while we were shopping at the local store in the same shopping center. Stopped in on a whim and were very pleased with the excellent food! What a ways end our day in Napa! Would visit again and recommend to others!

Don't waste your time or money. The food was mediocre with a diner atmosphere.
Great food, but very noisy.
A friend recommended this restaurant to us, since we love Italian food. The food was great, but the noise level was so high that we could not talk without almost screaming. During the summer, when we can eat outside, it should be more pleasant and relaxing. How can one relax to enjoy the food when the noise level is so high?

Great service and food
Had a reservation for Valentine's Day. We were seated immediately after walking in. The wait staff was friendly and gave us fast service. That night they were were giving out after dinner roses. My girlfriend thought that was a nice touch for Valentine's Day.
Valentine's Dinner Success
I booked a reservation at Il Posto a couple weeks before Valentine's Day and couldn't have been happier with my choice. The very friendly wait staff was both well informed and attentive. The food was simply fantastic! Every course (prix fixe for the special occasion) was superb and although we were quite full, we saved just enough room for the tiramisu that was fantastic. Get reservations (at Open Table) as this local gem can get booked up.
Utterly Delicious Lunch
My husband and I wanted a low key Valentine's lunch. Il Posto is close by and had tables open, and we are so glad we chose it! The food is SO delicious, my canneloni was beautiful to look at too. It's very laid back and the spot is not exactly romantic, but we had a lovely little date. Good service. Warm, friendly. A great neighborhood spot! This was our 3rd visit and it's better every time.

Love the pizzas, pasta, servers and ambiance . This is a neighborhood gem, and I'll mention the individual sized pizza again- delicious.
Excellent food, service and neighborhood feel
You can't go wrong eating at this restaurant. The food is excellent and the service is as well. My dad lives in Napa and so when we go out to dinner, we want good food and a nice atmosphere, not a tourist place. This fits the bill. The only criticism I would have is that most of the entrees are kind of on the heavy side - would like to see some lighter offerings - only one chicken dish. But overall, very worth the visit. Delicious food. You need to try the sausage stuffed olive appetizer.
Great family restaurant!!
Great family restaurant!!
The food is absolutely some of the best in the valley. Love the homemade taste and feel of some of the menu items and the service is outstanding. Everyone is always personable and attentive and the atmosphere is lively. One of our favorite spots for sure.
One of the best neighborhood gems in Napa
Great food. Great Service, Great People. What more can I say?!
A Real Find
We stayed at the Best Western in Napa and decided to give Il Posto a try since it was just one block away. Great decision. We arrived during happy hour and ordered two glasses of wine to go with some appetizers. The quality and quantity of the cozze and calamari were such that we didn't need to order an entree. I,f and when, we return to Napa, this will be our destination.
Dinner here is always good. My husband's duck entree was outstanding. My fettuccine with sea food was also very good. I must say the calamari in meat sauce for appetizer was not so good. Skip it..it just doesn't work. Oh and don't buy the garlic bread...it use to be worth the money but they have cut the portion size way down. Why, I don't understand!
The restaurant was packed and it was Saturday night so they were very busy. Our server was new, smiley, and clearly tried hard, so no complaint there. We had a reservation. The manager was gruff and gave a little attitude when I asked him to not sit us next to the door (which he tried to do) since it was cold and rainy (there were several other open tables when we arrived). Our food took quite a while, which they tried to explain away by saying we ordered three courses. But the issue was that we waited 20+ minutes between salads being cleared and entrees arriving. The spaghetti noodles were terribly overcooked and the dish was just mush. The veggie lasagna was bland and was served on what I think was supposed to be bechamel, but had the consistency of very thick pudding and was almost mucosy. It was extremely unappetizing. I can't speak for the seafood fettuccini since I didn't taste it, but most was left uneaten so that speaks for itself. On the upside, the arancini were tasty! The place has good reviews, so I was disappointed. Perhaps it was just an off night, but I wouldn't go back.
Thid isn't the first time we're been here but it has been alittle bit of time. They have revamped the menu alittle bit for the better! The food is almost always very tasty! There are some new deserts that are out of this world! I recommend!
A decent place for dinner in Napa
The food was good but not memorable, the fried bone marrow was very disappointing.
Menu at restaurant was not close to what's online.
We had read the menu online and saw a couple of meals that intrigued us and so booked a reservation. Upon arrival, the menu was very different ( though still Italian). We were very disappointed. The sausage stuffed olives raved about in other reviews were missing. We won't be back.
The food was wonderful! Their pastas and sauces are house made and it really shows. Our server was very helpful and always available. Can't wait to go back
I love this place
Seriously this is one of my favorite places to eat. Delicious food, great service and affordable. I have dined here on many occasions and have never been disappointed.
