Always a Hit
Half Moon's location is second to none. Great views of the Hudson, and in the distance, Manhattan. The drinks are nice, nice wine list. Server was great, and knew exactly ingredients for our gluten-sensitive friend.
Half Moon Dobbs Ferry
Half Moon in Dobbs Ferry is like a mini vacation. We sat outside overlooking the gorgeous Hudson and enjoyed a delicious lunch. The staff never rushed us and we're so pleasant. My friend travels from Long Usland to lunch with me because the location is so special. We love Half Moon
My experience here was very upsetting with the prices we paid. We were celebrating a special occasion my cousin got engaged and we purchased bottomless mimosas for 20$ per person they gave us the bill without even us asking for it and cut us off at 4 mimosas as well. We asked to speak to the manager but he/she was taking forever to get to us so we left.

The Host of the restaurant Aqsa and Zoha received us with amazing greetings and extremely polite..
Very dramatic view
I had lunch here with a classmate from high school, class of '72. She and I are known for our long lunches and this was no exception. Lunch began at 12:30 and ended at 4:45. Edgar and his associates were very gracious and attentive. We both had the lobster roll w/ white wine. They also tucked us away in a quiet corner with window. Just another great lunch.
Disappointing Food - Outstanding View
Half Moon is a place to dine for outstanding Hudson River views and beautiful ambiance. However, the supreme views are unfortunately overshadowed by food which is not only disappointing - but expensive. Not all dishes were bad. The bread was magnificent, the lobster with avocado appetizer was outstanding as was the macaroni and cheese. It was pretty much downhill from there. The hamburgers were just average as was the sole which was bland and tasteless - was it really sole we wondered? The chicken sandwich - also average. And then there was the dessert. It was a birthday celebration - so we ordered the Ice Cream Sandwich for the table as recommended by our waiter - which by the way was attentive - while those preparing on his behalf - were not. The ice cream was a beautiful presentation - the taste - not the highest quality. And there it goes. Will we come back? Perhaps yes, on a nice day, to enjoy the river. However, we will not be there for the food - that is for certain.
Second visit, would return again
We stopped in by accident 4 years ago and enjoyed the view and the layout of the inside. This time We made reservations for 12.30 pm on a Friday. We arrived and were first and only seated.. So it was quiet. By the time we left there was about 10 tables seated.. The food was good and bread was wonderful. Service was good and portions fair. Weather permitting out side seating is good.
lunch with old friends
My guests had been to HALF-MOON before, and asked to go back. We sat by the window and the view was matched by the food and the drinks.. They did,t want to leave
We were promptly seated at 7:30 and witnessed a beautiful sunset over the Hudson on Sunday, 4/17. Things went downhill from there. Our drink order was taken and served and then the waiter went AWOL. We finally found someone to take our food order but on item after item were told that it wasn't availble. That included the mini lobster rolls, the lobster mac and cheese and the lobster avocado salad. But, they had plenty of the 2-pound lobsters at $69 if we really wanted lobster. No way were they going to use those pricey babies for all the other lobster dishes. The four of us managed to scrape together an order of food that was "in stock". Then we waited. And we waited some more. And some more. At 8:45, we started asking about the food. We were told thatit would be served "any minute". Nine o'clock came and went. More inquiries, more promises, no food. Finally, at about 9:15 the orders came. Some hot, some luke warm, as though it had been waiting around. The mozzarella on the flatbread pizza was a cold, congealed mess. It was sent back. The substitute order arrived as everyone else was finishing. We received a perfunctory apology from the manager and were comped for the drinks. The restaurant was less tha half full when we arrived and nearly empty whe we left, so crowds were't the problem. We never found out what was. All and all, Half Moon was a mess.
Very nice, but a tad on the pricey side
We visited Half Moon for the second time, this one for a milestone birthday. The menu was excellent and all meals got rave reviews. We brought a cake with us and were charged a slicing fee ($3 per slice) which seemed a bit expensive, but I suppose it was cheaper than buying dessert. I rated ambiance a bit lower because there was music playing loudly in the background which was not in keeping with the mood of the restaurant. Perhaps it was playing primarily for the bar crowd, but I found it quite distracting. Service was OK - not great.
Come for the Sunset
As we sat talking the shade went up automatically so we could enjoy the beautiful sunset! There is also outside dining. The food is varied = small plates to regular entrees. One of us ordered a rare steak and it was delivered well done. They took it back and brought a beautiful rare steak. Service was okay but a little confusing - we started with one server and switched to another but then food was served by someone else who also took the check... Overall it was a nice evening with good friends, good food and great views.
Unfortunately, we have to agree with many of the other reviews we looked at before taking our mom for her birthday. View fabulous. Just a gorgeous spot to sit and sit and sit. Got drinks after brunch and sat outside on the river for 2 hours visiting. But the food really is less than ordinary- how can eggs just have no taste? I also didn't like that I was offered a mimosa when I sat down without being told it did not come with the meal. The drink would have been $10- luckily another guest told me so I sent it back without drinking it. Go for a drink; eat elsewhere.
This is one of our favorite places for Brunch. The food is good, the service is quick. We were a little disappointed that there were more choices. No opportunity to mix & match choices (eg.,waffles/pancakes with eggs; eggs with home fries & sausage/bacon). What was offered was delicious. We had the lobster/avocado salad.
My guests and I had an AMAZING time at Half Moon.
I wish I had discovered this restaurant a long time ago. The decor, ambiance and amazing views really makes this restaurant POP. Table of 8, we were surrounded by other guests and large parties. Noise level was on the high side but no one at our table was bothered by it. Food was excellent; the Lobster Roll was yummy..who ever came up with pineapple coleslaw is a genius! Cannot wait to return on a warmer day to enjoy the outdoor seating.

Great early mother's day brunch
Had a lovely brunch at Half Moon with the family, celebrating early US / late UK mother's day. The food was pretty good as usual - we love the baskets of pastries and breads that are brought out when you sit down (although our children tend to fill up on these!) and I'm a fan of the bottomless mimosas. My frittata was perhaps a little drier than I've had before, but overall it was good - they were happy to substitute eggs for the egg whites. Looking forward to our next brunch there.
Just a dinner for 2 on a Saturday
Everything was pretty good not spectacular but pretty good. The food was pretty good the drinks were pretty good. Nothing really blew me away other than the great service they were really on top of everything...would go back for brunch which i hear is awesome.

good food/dining experience as usual. will come back, as I always do.
I a a regular at Half Moon, especially at the bar. But more often than not I find the service in the dinning room very spotty and uneven. At one point I felt they forgot about us.
Remarkable, absolutely love this place

Extremely impressed. A definite repeat!
Great menu to choose from. The food was seasoned perfectly. Service was good and the ambiance terrific. Wishes we could have stayed later for the DJ.
Love the location! The food is good but not special. I keep going back hoping the food will match the spectacular location, so far it doesn't. On this visit we did enjoy the salad special of spinach, frisée, and calamari, with a great spicy dressing. The mussels, lobster roll and baked macaroni were the other dishes which got thumbs up. Cocktails were good and service was attentive. Overall we usually enjoy this spot but always wish for a more creative menu.
Half Moon is wonderful! Great food, beautiful environment including breath taking views of the Hudson River. Service is always outstanding and Miriam (not sure I have the spelling right), our server, was especially sweet, kind and accommodating! I have never been disappointed at Half Moon! Thank you!
Great restaurant for special occasions
Ourservice was excellent and the food good. I had a Chipotle salad that was excellent and the salmon fresh. There was a good selection for a prefix Easter meal.

Half Moon (Gem) on the Hudson
My party of 5 and I had a wonderful time. The wait staff was very professional and accommodating. I have been here a couple of times before and each time, I have thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience. The food, mood, and scenic views of the Hudson are exceptional. Looking forward to returning when the weather if warmer to enjoy dining on the Patio. Thank you Half Moon..
Lunch in the River
We came to Half Moon for Restaurant Week. Sitting by the window, was a highlight. The service was great as was the cheeseburger, perfectly cooked rare. The one disappointment was the flourless chocolate cake. It was too heavy and not what a molten flourless chocolate cake should be.

The service was excellent-friendly and accomodating. The food was excellent as well. We were celebrating a birthday and it was very special.
It was perfect . The service was lovely. The food can be more delicious
We returned to Half Moon for Restaurant Week because we had been very impressed when we dined here on New Year's Eve. The appetizers were very good, although not as good as we had remembered them, and our entrees were very tasty, but VERY rich. Too much butter on the salmon and vegetables. Desserts were fine. Our server was relatively inexperienced. She was very pleasant, but not as attentive as she might have been.
Nice atmosphere. Visited during HV restaurant week. Decent selection on menu. Overall nice for an occasional visit.
Brought my girlfriend for our 3 year anniversary and the staff helped make our night absolutely perfect. They were right there when we needed help and they even brought out a complimentary "happy anniversary" dish right as we finished our meal. I would reccomend it to anybody! I loved it from the moment i walked in the door
just have the appetizers
So, we have said to each other many times, when we go out we should just have the appetizers. Well, we didn't and we wished we had. One or two out of five enjoyed their entree. The place is beautiful, and the service outstanding at the table. Anyway, the Prime rib was tough, and the Lobster roll was just ok and served with a mountain of cold fries. Appetizers were great! I suppose this is a mixed review, I'd go there again but more for the atmosphere and a drink with perhaps a few appetizers, but I'd skip the dinner.
Our NEW favorite place!
Loved everything about his place! Great ambiance - good service - inventive menu. ..and right on the Hudson River. It was a terrific night and experience!! Highly recommend!
Loved brunch but lunch was disappointing!
We had brunch at Half Moon and it was fantastic! Food was delicious and service very good as well. Unfortunately, we returned for lunch and the food was not as fresh. While the appetizers were amazing, my salmon burger was very fishy and my companions didn't even finish their regular burgers (very unusual for them). We will definitely return for Sunday brunch but probably not for lunch during the week.
We tried this location about two years ago and swore not to return....HOWEVER, the restaurant is apparently under new management and was a great improvement!!! We enjoyed our brunch experience very much. The food was delicious and the service was very pleasant. Definitely back on our "go-to" list!!
The food was on point. The service was overall decent, although our waiter hardly checked us, failed to put in one appetizer, and made a mistake with one of the entrée orders. Overall very good experience.
