I had the French Onion soup!! It was amazing!!
We had a foursome, and chose from all over the menu - tacos as appetizers, fried pickles, a burger, seared tuna over salad ( cobb and caesar ), and crispy duck. Each dish was carefully prepared and perfectly timed. Great job by the wait staff. Our favorite place for a special dinner... :)

The GHT did it again! Amazing food, great service, and inviting atmosphere. We split the fried pickles (yum!) and the duck chilly appetizers, both prepared to perfection. Then I had the special of the evening, which was Thai curry with shrimp, and was blown away with the amount of flavor they packed into this dish, I would definitely have it again. Tom has the pasta vernal and the home made noodles gave this humble dish a feel of luxury. Well done guys...
Fresh and fantastic
You can tell the ingredients are really great. Everything I had was amazing along with service. Always a good time
love this place but tonight was a fail
We eat at the GHT all the time. This is the first time we were very disappointed in the food. We ordered the 2 main dish Special. The fish Hake was just ok and the rib eye special which was $45 was horrible. All grizzle and asked for it medium and came out mooing. I didn't send it back because I use to work in the restaurant business and what happens in the kitchen when for is sent back. Not saying it happens here...we always have a great meal here. But this experience was not good at all.
Went to the Grey Horse tavern for anniversary dinner with my wife. The ambiance was nice as we sat on the porch. Though it is a little tight, it is not for 2 people. 3 at the table definitely is tighter for the staff and other diners to get around you. Had the calamari for starters. For main course, had the steak which was marvelous. Wife had the chicken which she said was a little overdone and the combination of cheese and spices did not mix well. Service was great. no room for desert. Overall, great dining experience, will go again, and just order something else.
A friend of mine who knows my passion for cooking and eating recommended The GHT because he, himself, enjoys the place and thought I would too. While I did not have a horrific experience, I was completely unimpressed and underwhelmed. My husband and I began the pre-food festivities with drinks. He ordered a Dark and Stormy and I, a Pimms Cup. His drink was not up to par, but this could be because we do make them at home and they are significantly better. The Pimms was a new drink to me, and a delight. His calamari app was excellent - the highlight of the night. My pear salad was exceedingly boring; it lacked the flavor of ripe pears. My main meal was the chicken covered in prosciutto stuffed with cheese, spinach, and red peppers. This came with mashed potatoes and green beans. Once again, adequate. My husband's generous serving of Shepard's Pie was also anti climatic. This was accompanied by a dull plain salad. We finished the meal with dessert. I had the cookies and cream/mint ice cream, which was good. My husband had the ice cream sandwich, which in his hands, looked as skimpy as it was. I encourage you to give it a try yourself. Maybe you will have better luck. Maybe it was just an off night on all of our parts.
Not the Tavern atmosphere I was expecting, more like an old house. Bar was very small. Tables were small out on the old porch. Menu was strange.
The Grey Horse
Outstanding as usual. Real people, real good, great experience. If you want a stuffy, fine dining servant experience, this isn't for you. If you want an earthy, organic, lovely service...this is the spot.

We hadn't been here for about a year. There is a new chef. With the menu full of healthy natural options, we were very pleasantly surprised at how great the food was! I highly recommend Grey Horse Tavern, and shall return often!
Love the Grey Horse!
Cozy place to have a few drinks, eat and listen to local music.
Second visit here but this time for brunch. Excellent all around. So many great brunch choices and the food was really good. Missed the live entertainment that started at 1:00 but sounded good during mic check.

We had a great evening! What a gem!
Sub par and overpriced.
Ambiance was really nice and rustic, mixed drinks and beer selection was par for the course but if your a wine lover your in trouble, entrees were extremely limited and sub par. Staff was attentive. Pricing did not fit the quality. Don't waste your money. As far as I'm concerned only go sit at the bar for appitizers and drinks ONLY!

Another great family dining experience. Every discharge was delicious and the service was excellent.
Went for the music, went back for the food!
We originally went to The Grey Horse Tavern to see Travis McKeveny, and had dinner prior to the show, which was outstanding by the way! We went back for dinner because it's such a comfortable place to have dinner, and the Macaroni & Cheese starter was, somehow, better than the deluxe Mac & Cheese of the Dix Hills Diner! We traveled 4 times the distance for The Grey Horse, and it was gas well burned!
Always fantastic at the grey horse! .
The grey horse is always our first choice, we have yet to be dissapointed! Best brunch anywhere!

Delighted with our recent dinner at Grey Horse Tavern. Tasty food, moderate prices, diverse menu. We will be back.
First time won't be our last
We found this restaurant when researching places to eat en route out east for a weekend in Montauk. It is a lovely old house by the railroad tracks that has probably been here forever. It is now filled with locals enjoying the food and atmosphere which is warm and relaxed and filled with candle light and laughter. We loved it.
Not the lunch I expected
Went for lunch on a Friday with some friends. We all had tea which was lukewarm both times and needed to be heated in the microwave. $3 is a bit much for a cup of tea! The Black Bean and Sweet Potato Burger was very soft and fell apart . The sweet potato fries were excellent! We shared the beignets which were undercooked and very heavy. Disappointing meal all around.
A definite favorite
We love Grey Horse Tavern. There is just not another place like it. The food is amazingly fresh and creative. We are never disappointed here. For dessert: always order the beignets!

We moved to Bayport 7 years ago and the Grey Horse Tavern is our place to go. We have hosted many friends and family at the Grey Horse. The staff is friendly and efficient. It is a very cozy atmosphere. We love Zoe and her daughter and Ryan our bartender . Jake was out first waiter and we have become extremely attached. He is an amazing young man and brings a lot to the restaurant industry. Overall we give the Grey Horse a big thumbs up. Love the food the drink the atmosphere.
Bartender Nick went above and beyond. Staff is friendly

Main course was luke warm and had to be reheated. We ordered a plate that we asked for a substitution for as a side. We had to pay extra for the side salad, because they couldn't substitute. When the meal came out the salad was on the plate and what we originaly wanted substituted and couldn't, was not. Lastly, the dessert was a hot brownie with chocolate syrup and vanilla ice cream. Brownie was not heated and the ice cream did not melt. Wasn't worth the $125.00
Shhh! Don't tell too many people about this gem!
Never disappoints. The menu choices are outstanding and you always walk away full, satisfied and talking about the next time you'll come and eat the other dishes you had to pass over since they ALL were so very appealing! Yes, we RAVE about GHT to anyone who will listen!
I have been here several times for dinner which is always delicious. Brunch did not disappoint. It was amazing. Can't wait to go back again.
Go Grey Horse
Love this place, always good food and service and not rushed. Went with some friends and we all were happy with it all. Can get a bit pricey but life is short so it's okay. Also I am the only vegetarian in the group and besides a few great options on the menu, they had a vegetarian special which was so very good.
Perhaps it was an off night
Eggplant tower was like mush, chicken was passable. Drinks were good. They have music which may be the draw. We'll probably give it another try since it's close to home, perhaps try the burger.
Can't believe it took us 6 years!
We have lived a mere 5 minutes from this restaurant for over 6 years and only just got around to trying it. I'm so sorry we've been missing out! It was the perfect spot for my and my husband's anniversary. There were not a ton of tables in each section, so the noise level was low enough that it was intimate. Our server was wonderful, the food was spectacular... the only complaint I had was that they brought our entrees out before we had finished our appetizers. But it was fine- we just had a big table of food. We will definitely be back. This may be our new favorite neighborhood spot for a night out with just the two of us!
This was a pleasant visit on our way out East we stopped in for a quick bit. The Irish music was wonderful! My caesar salad was delicious and my husband enjoyed his dish as well. We must visit more often.
Grey Horse Tavern Is TOP NOTCH
We had the pleasure to, once again, enjoy an amazing night of food and music at Grey Horse Tavern last Saturday, January 16th. We were met with a BIG smile and hug by owner, Linda. She actually remembered us from our last visit sometime mid 2015. WOW!! We were a group of 6...and our table was ready right at 8:15. I found that amazing as the place was packed! We were not rushed at all..we took our time, had a drink or two and ordered some apps. They have an amazing specialty drink menu, and a few in our party took advantage of them. YUMM!! We then received our dinners...ranging from an amazing Shepard's Pie that was as delicious as it was huge to an elegant Pasta with Chicken Meatballs, Greens and White Beans. And, make sure to eat your dinner roll...and splurge and put the Kerry Gold Irish Butter on THICK! You can thank me later. We ended with desserts...I had homemade beignets with chocolate ganache, raspberry syrup and vanilla ice cream. OMG! Oh yeah, did I mention that all ingredients are locally sourced...a TRUE farm to table dining experience? When the food was over, the music started. The Grey Horse Tavern gets the VERY best local talent imaginable. The Falco Brothers are just an amazing band...and the mix of local and not so local folks were grooving as one. The Falco boys, and Fred Golik, grew up here..and the reciprocal love shone was heart warming and well received!! This was one of those magical nights...when everything was just about perfect...the stars were aligned for sure. I HIGHLY recommend The Grey Horse Tavern. From start to finish, I felt like I was home, with my loved ones. The staff feel the same way about us as we do them. Make sure you make a reservation...make sure to say Hi! to Linda...and make sure to save some room for the desserts. You'll be glad you did!!

We were never informed that side salad that I chose to eat with burger was an extra charge. Really inappropriate. Find that the value for what we received was lacking.
Excellent Meal at Grey Horse
Went here for dinner with family and had a great time The table was ready with our Open Table reservation, service was great, drinks were excellent and the appetizers were great. The main meal was perfect on all levels and the different plates at the table It was a un-rushed relaxing atmosphere and the desserts were amazing I highly recommend Grey Horse Tavern in Bayport and I will go back as I live locally
Went to the Grey Horse Tavern for a special occasion. Did not know what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised. I loved the rustic feel of the place. The food was very delicious, fresh, farm to table quality. I would love to go back again.
Delicious New Years Eve
My party of 3 (which included a very particular 13 yo) was very happy with all of our food on New Year's Eve. GHT serves farm fresh food and you can really taste the difference. There is truly something special about a Bell & Evans natural chicken that is roasted perfectly. For dessert we had the beignets which were not as light and airy as I pictured, but that didn't stop us from making them disappear. The staff was very nice - it did take a little long for the entire meal (about 2 hours) but it was a holiday so that is understandable.
