Greens Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
My husband was given a gift certificate which we used for our dinner. What a lovely treat! I wish you had a location in Toronto.
Yummy, as always
Once again, Greens met all our expectations, both for the view (window table - thank you!) and the culinary delights. Our server was attentive and responsive. We love this place!
Consistently Good Food
The food here is so flavorful and inventive; it's easy to take people who have never tried vegetarian cooking. The setting is ideal, especially if you book a window table. I'm used to a consistently good experience. The food on this visit was outstanding but the service was lacking. We had to chase down the waitress several times and she never apologized. Disappointing, but not the norm for them. Will try again.
Great food, well presented. A bit loud.

Outstanding vegetarian experience
in Francisco, Greens is a must. We love the food, the atmosphere, and the view of the Golden Gate Bridge. We have never had anything on the menu that we didn't like.

The food at Greens was, per usual, fantastic. I felt a bit rushed as my server asked for our drinks, appetizer, and main course choices right away. The food came out promptly, and we didn't get a chance to chat and enjoy the ambiance and the view as much as hoped. But my wife loved every morsel of the meal and we enjoyed ourselves immensely.
Food great. Ambiance so-so
Ambiance was really disappointing. I was there on a Saturday night and the restaurant was basically DEAD. There was NO music playing. The acoustics made the environment feel so quite and had i not been on date with my boyfriend, I wouldn't have enjoyed it much. Food is pretty good, but for focusing on veggies, could have been better.
The Best View... but needs more wow
Everything was great, nice folks, but the food was a little underwhelming, especially for the price.
This is a great place to take an out-of-town guest, particularly a vegetarian guest. The view from the restaurant is lovely. The food is fine, but not great. The wine list is decent.
Rustic, wholesome...and kind of dull
It's been a few years since our last visit to Greens, and it may be a few more after this dinner. It was good--nothing really wrong with the food, and the service was attentive enough. It just lacked the special quality I remember from before: dishes were tasty enough, and fairly well presented--but just not very innovative. The emphasis seems to be on straightforward flavors, but not as much creativity or surprises as I'd hope for. Specifically, the forest mushrooms and spinach-stuffed filo served on a tagine of chickpeas almost seemed like two dishes fighting each other rather than a cohesive whole. The curry flavor of the tagine was a bit intense. My appetizer of quinoa cauliflower griddle cakes was OK--but barely browned on the outside (I saw they looked more done at the table next to ours) and fell apart too easily--nothing really held them together. The romescu sauce and crème fraiche were tasty companions, but overall the dish didn't wow me. Desserts were a bit ordinary too...not bad, but not very imaginative in presentation. Greens seems to be relying on its reputation (and its view) at the expense of challenging itself in the kitchen.
One of the most picturesque views in SF
Healthy, flavorful vegetarian food with an epic view, comfortable ambiance, and extremely warm staff. An easy recommendation for anyone who's interested.

Greens in Fort Mason, SF never disappoints!
I have visited Greens several times, both for brunch/lunch as well as dinner. This place is awesome--right from the gorgeous single paneled wood door down to the last bite of dessert. The drinks/wine list is great--we have always enjoyed fantastic cocktails here. The food is delicately flavored and fresh. The view is to die for. I would recommend picking a sunny day to make the most of your visit to Fort Mason. Weekends preferred--there are several boutiques, coffee shops around greens to hang out in. This place is very kid-friendly, provided your kids are not loud and won't disturb other diners. Seat yourself at the window so the kids can enjoy watching the sea lions and boats coming in.
I've been to the Greens many times and have always enjoyed it. This time was not one of those. I ordered the pupusa appetizer for $15, and it consisted of three silver dollar sized, uninteresting items with a boring sauce. Totally overpriced. The menu was uninteresting with sandwiches and pasta and other grain based items being the primary ingredient to almost every dish other than the salads. I left hungry and extremely disappointed after paying upscale prices for less than average food.
Greens has a beautiful view of the harbor in San Francisco & is worth a visit! We had the grilled cheese & mushroom sandwich which was excellent. The accompanying salad was really good too. We also had another salad with avocado which was excellent. Unfortunately, the carrot cake was sub par and should definitely be skipped. Service is adequate though not friendly.
Beautiful! The food is superb. Of the four of us, two were reluctant to go because it is vegetarian but all of us loved our meal. Service was excellent. Easy to have a conversation.

We waited a very long time for service at all parts of the meal. The food was overall good, with a couple of slightly off notes--the beets on the Indian plate didn't work, etc. portion sizes of apps are good for 1, but small for sharing. As higher end vegetarian restaurants go, this was definitely very good, but not great.

Disappointed by the flavors, presentation and pricing. Cocktail was good but wine list was mediocre at best. Decent service though. Not worth a second visit.

Amazing I'll again and again Where can you go to restaurant where the monks bless your greens
Great vegetarian food
Good service but our seating was cold since we had some kind of tunneling of cold air from the front door opening. Might recommend a few more entrees.
Delicious food, lovely service, rude other diners
We had a lovely birthday dinner for my husband at Greens. We LOVED the food and the server was great. Unfortunately, the table next to us was incredibly obnoxious; they were loud and discussing all manner of highly inappropriate behaviors. It really put a damper on our evening.
My SF Favorite
My favorite restaurant when I visit San Francisco. I go for special occasions--anniversaries, get together with special friends--and I go for the sheer pleasure of a delicious meal in a gorgeous setting.

Good service, decent portion size, terrific view! Make a reservation about 1 hour before sunset and request a window seat... or wait for one. Eat and drink slowly, make excuses to linger...sunset over the Golden Gate Bridge is super! Side note: Location is a little hard to find due to poor signage
Great view, not a good value
Recently went to Green's to celebrate an anniversary (we both eat vegan). The view is unbeatable although it's best to go just before or after sunset otherwise the sun is blinding and the shades are down. It was a bit challenging to find vegan options, but our server was very accommodating (and got one of our orders wrong). Maybe our limited palette limited us exploring the menu fully, I'm also gluten-free and sugar-free. I have a hard time grocking $24 - $27 vegetable entrees, especially in an establishment owned by Buddhists, something is off there for me and I'm not sure I'd go back.

Usually it is quite crowded so reservations are a good idea , especially on weekends and when there are events at Fort Mason
As Good as Always!
Greens has been a favorite for 35+ years. I'm generally a carnivore, but always leave Greens feeling full & happy - it's the very best veggie restaurant in the Bay Area! Pricey, but worth it.
A great find while visiting San Francisco. Attentive service. Good options for vegans as well. The carrot cake with cream cheese ice cream was AMAZING. Would definitely go back.
Wonderful staff, food and facility!
Wonderful staff, food and facility!
Great , gourmet food ....although this is a vegetarian restaurant, everyone of all tastes would be satisfied. My friend who is a vegan had many delicious choices. Whenever I visit San Francisco, I always have a meal at Greens.
Lovely view, bad service
I love going to Greens for the feel of the beautiful interior space in a historical building, the abundant natural light and the offering of good vegetarian food. However , the service is consistently sub par. Our server was on auto pilot, barely present both physically and mentally. Clearly, the training and maintaining of a service staff that matches the price, reputation and location is not a priority. I brought a guest from out of state who is a sophisticated diner, hoping to impress with an overall great experience. Once again I was reminded of why I go to Greens only once every couple of years . The food itself is good, but not great. Having been to Tassajara many times, I find the daily meals there to be far superior to this upscale restaurant that was inspired by the retreat property. The service is consistently mediocre to poor. The interior space remains the best thing about the experience .

I've gone to Greens many times over the years, this was the first time I and my friends had poor service. It's a great location, but I've increasingly found the quality and portion of the food to be overpriced. I also think it's odd that as a health conscious restaurant they do not offer gluten free options.

Loved the warm cauliflower salad! Red curry was also terrific, and there is plenty of both dishes to share. Waitress recommended a nice wine pairing as well. You can't beat the Marina Bay view and art studio location in Fort Mason Center -- artsy and earthy.

Menu and flavors are amazing. Great choice for Vegetarians, Vegans and everyone else. Carnivores will be so wowed with how good the food is, they won't even miss the meat. Beautiful setting with lots of fun things to do at Fort Mason.
Good all around but slow service
Experts at vegetarian menu, gorgeous bay views, but each time I've been there over the last 15 years, the server gets bogged down.
Hot house Greens
It was so miserably hot inside Greens it was impossible to enjoy anything . This is no exaggeration ! People were fanning themselves with the menus . Food was really good but overall experience was miserable .
Healthy Vegetarian Meals
Scrumptious lunch items. The Black Bean Chili has a very nice kick to it and the asparagus pizza was quite tasty. Great service and our window seat had an outstanding view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Be sure to check out their "to go" service with sandwiches, salads, coffees and excellent desserts.
vegetarian with a view
wonderful sunset view on Golden Gate Bridge with very good vegetarion food
