Noise Level Alert

Dined 7 days ago

Our dinner was very good but the noise level was to high for us. We could barely talk to each other.

Food/noise level

Dined on April 19, 2016

While the Hot Pastrami Sandwich was very tasteful, the side of potato Salad had a lot to be desired, way to creamy and just didn't remind me of potato salad. The noise level is way up there, but that's the type of establishment it is, more of a sports bar setting. Our server Rachel was very attentive and always made sure we had what we needed, but wasn't overbearing.

Not so hot

Dined on April 3, 2016

We had family visiting and picked Giovanni's because of the wide variety in the menu. There were six in our group and we were seated right on the edge of the stairs, crammed in shoulder to shoulder. I ordered a western burger medium well that was way over cooked and extremely dry. Had to ask for extra sauce to choke it down. Our waitress never checked on us to refill drinks. When I flagged her down she told me they were out of Diet Coke (this was a Sat. night at 7). Our bill was $200 so about $30 a piece for dry burgers. Won't go back. It is a shame, because I have been there before with a much better experience. Too much to pick from in Waikiki to waste my money on Giovanni's again.

Came for the Round Table Pizza which was very good. Round Table Pizza may well be the best Pizza on the Planet. There is no internet access.

Pretty good!

Dined on January 14, 2016

Gave me more of a mainland feel which I liked. A sports diner but new and great quality. I really loved the location, the look, and the Reuben sandwich was amazing. Large portion sizes. Thumbs up from me. Will come again. Cool spot for lunch or casual dinner

Was a very busy place but we received prompt service at the bar. Food was good and portions huge. Not for a romantic dinner. More a place for some drinks with mates.

Food was good but something changed. The pizza and pastrami sandwich wasn't as flavorful as before. Still good but not the same.

Great Food

Dined on October 11, 2015

We visited Hawaii for 12 days so we had the opportunity to eat in several resturants this was one of our favorites. The food choices were fantastic with great portion sizes. We plan on recommending the resturant to friends visiting Hawaii especially if you want to watch your favorite sport while on vacation.

went for a casual dinner but the place was LOUD, food was below average - had grilled cheese but the size of the sandwich was a slider size or a regular sandwich size besides that they cancelled my reservation so I did not get the opentable points - complained to the Manager and he said he would fix it so I could receive the points which he NEVER did!!!! Lots of great sports bars in Honolulu don't waste your time at this place

Okay but Loud

Dined on September 14, 2015

We went for pizza for dinner on our honeymoon with our destination wedding party. The pizza was RoundTable Pizza, there were some local choices that made it non average on the menu. The server was a little slow and lacking. But a good time was had by all until it got too loud.

Dined on September 4, 2015

Waitress was great! Perfect timing for service as I was on travel eating alone. Table was stuck in the middle of floor beside a pole. Probably worst seat in the restaurant. Made eating awkward. But waitress & food were great. Would return for a Reuben fix. Just wait for a better seat.

Bad service, mediocre food

Dined on August 22, 2015

Our server had 6-8 tables. Difficult to provide quality service with that many customers to take care of. Had a reservation for 8:45 and they didn't seat is until past 9. Ordered the BJ Penn special. Server came back a few minutes later to inform us they had run out of pizza dough so they couldn't give us pizza. Server didn't provide any options for the special so we ended up paying full price for the beer and wings.

Repeat customers

Dined on August 15, 2015

Food was great, as always. Not only the pastrami but other dishes e.g. spaghetti, were very tasty. Service was exceptional. Wife ordered soft poached eggs, which came rather firm. Waiter said to keep those and he brought another order of poached eggs which were perfect. Waiter would always stop (which is how he caught the over cooked poached eggs) as he walked by asking if we needed anything. On several occasions he refilled the kid's diet soda drinks w/out us asking. He was worth the 20%+ tip.

Dined on July 29, 2015

This restaurant came highly recommended to my husband and I from several friends that live on the island. They were 100% on target with its food and service. The 20% military discount is a huge bonus too! We had a pitcher of Longboard Lager, wings and the Kahlua Pork Pizza. All very delicious and the service was great too! It is also downstairs from the Wyndham Beach Walk, the perfect location for Wyndham owners!

Opentable needs to review them

vip
Dined on July 19, 2015

The food was fine. I did not appreciate the fact that even though I specifically told them I was an OpenTable reservation, they did not check me in. Later that day I got an e-mail saying they cancelled my reservation. Very irritating for them not to follow policy. They get the benefit of being listed on OpenTable, but don't have to contribute to the points. Will not return, as this is a second occurance here.

Reservation mishap?

Dined on July 19, 2015

Made a reservation for 6 people through Open Table. Realized it was just across the street when we reserved. We came at the reserved time and they said they did NOT have a table open for six people. Half of us left for another restaurant. We stayed for a smaller table that they DID have available. Pizza was very good.

What NOT to order

Dined on June 25, 2015

Disappointed with the Rueben bites. The bread was sitting in liquid on the plate ...extremely soggy. Did not finish it. The chicken salad was also disappointing. It tasted like oil. So we requested for balsamic dressing but it still tasted like an oily salad with very little flavor. We would return for the spaghetti!! The flavor of the sauce is amazing.

Don't bother if you are going for the food.

Dined on June 21, 2015

Like another reader said the pastrami came with soggy bread and we had to ask for mustard. This is NY style. I don't think so. Prices are high for what you get. And, while we went at hours when they are supposed to validate, we got a sticker to pay $3 for parking. If you want to watch a game, this may be the place. But not a place to get food at a fair price, or to get good service.

Unfulfilled Potential

vip
Dined on January 19, 2015

Wow, you look at the menu for this place and think you are in sports bar or brew pub heaven. But the positive stops there. Terrible service which it seems is a management problem because it appears there are too few employees for the number of guests. And the food is even worse. Got the corned beef and had to ask the wait staff if I got the right sandwich. Didn't taste like any corned beef I ever had. Had an individual pizza for an appetizer and I've had better frozen ones from the supermarket. Skip this place, there are a lot of other options.

Came here to watch the OSU championship game because this is where OSU alumni come. It did not disappoint. Crazy fun loud good time. Markie was our server and kept up well with the service. Beers came out cold and fast and food came out hot and fast despite the large crowd. Had the spicy salad which was really tasty and shareable. Also had the pastrami sliders and fries. We shared this as well. Very good. We would definitely return.

Good food, atmosphere, and service

Dined on October 21, 2014

We really enjoyed Giovanni Pastrami. The waiter was fun and helpful, the food was hot and tasty, and the atmosphere was fun and vivacious. The music they had playing was wonderful. We had wings and a personal pizza for appetizers. The wings had a wonderful hot zing to them. The pizza was amazing. The pastrami on rye was hot and delicious. The waiter It's not too fancy, which was perfect for what we were looking for, relaxed, casual to medium dressy would work. I really enjoyed it all the way around.

Tasteless!

Dined on July 25, 2014

We were excited to try a new restaurant in Waikiki. We visit the island often and hadn't seen Giovanni Pastrami, so on our last night, we decided to try it. Made a reservation and headed over. Our server was professional, not over the top, but fine! We asked many questions of our server from the menu and she stated that the items we had asked/chosen were her favorites. She must not have any tastebuds…everything was tasteless. We ordered the Macadamia Nut Pesto Pasta, no taste…no macadamia taste, no garlic taste, no basil taste, no taste AT ALL! My husband and I were going to share our meals, he sent his back and was done. I ordered the Chinese Chicken Salad…that as well had NO TASTE! VERY bland dressing and the extras were stale!
