wanted lunch menu

Dined 3 days ago

We were here on a Saturday for lunch and they only offer a "brunch" menu. Really wanted a good salad and that is not available. I think this is a bit over-rated.

good comfort food

Dined 3 days ago

travelled here to meet friends for dinner and also happened to be my husbands birthday, i called ahead and ordered a bottle of cava to be brought to the table as a surprise toast, our friends were already seated when we arrived and there the bottle of cava sat on the table, so much for surprise. Then no one appeared to open it until our friend started to uncork it. Guys loved their steak and frites and short rib lasagna was very good, waitress was accomodating with deserts which we asked to take, we were at a nearby hotel with a very comfortable lounge and fireplace (and good brandy)

Casual dining with well thought out artful delicious food. The express lunch specials are a real value. Good vegetarian options too that kept us all happy. A lovely lunch conveniently located.

salty

Dined on April 24, 2016

The portions are small yet I think the ingredients are top-notch. The problem was the food was so over-salted, you could not actually taste the flavors of the food. We had scallops and the trout. They were both very salty!

Brunch was AMAZING

Dined on April 24, 2016

Food was delicious! The brunch special is a great value for what you get. This was my second time visiting and I can't wait to go back to try something else from the menu.

Brunch on Sunday

Dined on April 24, 2016

Nice outdoor spot and the food was "good" but not really impressive. Service was lackluster, took >15 minutes and multiple people to ready our table and menus didn't come out until well after we'd been asked to order drinks. Server while not rude seemed ambivalent - questions about drinks/food were answered with "It's good I guess" and not much additional information. Okay time but probably wouldn't go again - much better options in the area for the same price point.

Excellent brunch location

Dined on April 17, 2016

I rarely do brunch, but Garces Trading Company might change that. A fairly large group of friends needed a spot to meet for brunch--not all places would have been able to accommodate us, but GTC could, and did a great job, even though more people showed up than expected. Service seemed a bit slow, but once food arrived we were all quite happy. I don't recall hearing anything negative about the food at all, everybody seemed to really enjoy their choices. I look forward to a repeat visit.

Wagyu steak

Dined on April 16, 2016

I ordered the wagyu med rare and my friend ordered it rare. Mine was delivered rare and my friends was medium well. I didn't return the steak because I don't agree with wasting food, but they obviously couldn't get the proper cook time on them. Rest of the food was tasty. Service was very good.

I will never return

Dined on April 9, 2016

Took friends from out of town for the tasting menu, and it was one of the worst restaurant meals I've ever had. Sloppy, inconsistent, with none of the commentary that normally accompanies a tasting menu, and just not very tasty. I was embarrassed by my choice. The only redeeming factors were (1) the cocktail I had at the bar before dinner and (2) the fact that they cut a substantial amount off the bill when I expressed my disappointment. I will never return.

Disappointed visitor

Dined on April 9, 2016

I was most disappointed with the portion sizes. For example, an entree should not be served in the same container which is used for an appetizer portion. I felt like this 'entree' was an overpriced appetizer/small plate.

I went for lunch and had one of the lunch specials. The food was very good and a good value. However the food was a little too rich for a weekday lunch for me. And I did try to order menu items that were not heavy.

Mussels with chorizo were tasty.

Dined on March 13, 2016

I enjoyed the mussels, but there could have been more of them. The dish came with french fries which were placed on top of the mussels. They would have been better served on the side. There were four of us and we all enjoyed our choices. I would go back.

Meal Great ... Service Meh

Dined on March 13, 2016

We were a group of 6 for Sunday brunch. We arrived at time of opening (10:00am), with the restaurant fairly quiet (ie, relatively empty) as we were early brunchers. While the menu is terrific and each of our meals delicious, our service was sorely lacking. After our orders were taken and our food delivered, it took multiple "asks" to get the attention of our server. (For instance, one should not have to ask - repeatedly - for a coffee refill. It's brunch!) Good food, nice atmosphere ... but more attention to service needed for our pretty easy-going group.

Unimpressive

Dined on March 12, 2016

Waitstaff was in a hurry to move us along and the group was barely able to finish a glass of wine. Wine list was full of mediocre overpriced wine and the food menu was fairly limited. Nice ambiance and good location, but overpriced for what you get.

Amazing!

Dined on March 10, 2016

Have been to several Garces restaurants but this was my 1st time at the Trading Company. Although hesitant, we chose the $55 chef tasting menu and I'm happy to say we licked our plates! I got to try things that I wouldn't have chosen regularly and loved everything the chef made. They also have a $40 tasting menu, but with that you won't get steak/scallops, etc. This is a BYOB (no cork fee according to their sign) restaurant but they also have a bar in case you don't come prepared.

Dined on March 9, 2016

Have been there before and enjoyed the salad with grilled chicken. This time the chicken was dried out and cold (previously cooked) and the salad nothing more than greens with olive oil. We had to as for bread. Service was good, but I expect more than a Wawa salad for the price.

Nice Variety of Small Plates

vip
Dined on March 8, 2016

Although the restaurant features their French Fries, we only had the small plates. The salads were good and their presentation was attractive. I asked them to omit the onions an they were very accommodating. The prices were in keeping with other restaurants in the area. The décor was open, yet cozy. There was plenty of natural light coming in from the windows. Staff was gracious and attentive. The variety of beers, wines, and cocktails can please most patrons.

The fact that my wife doesn't like carrots, but LOVED the roasted carrots in the yogurt sauce says a-lot about how great the food was. We will surely be back soon, especially for the Chefs Tasting Menu.

Dined on March 2, 2016

The all you care to eat (Wagyu sirloin) steak (duck fat) frites dinner was worth the $ I spent on the meal. There's a choice for the lesser expensive cut or the American Wagyu sirloin. Great way for an American Wagyu beef lover to indulge on great cut of meat. I end up rating the pieces of sirloin after they arrived on my plate. Searing was phenomenal and they brought out the steak just the way I like it, all four times! Will definitely comeback again for this.

Disappointment

Dined on February 27, 2016

Service was OK - only saw the order taker at time of ordering, different server brought everything ordered. Bus person kept trying to take bread and bread plates when we were still clearly using them. Did not have the pate I ordered, substituted something similar, OK, but not real tasty. Entrees of Seafood and Pasta had two shrimp, three very small clams and lots of pasta - promised more than it delivered. Coffee was weak. Very noisy. At least we could bring our own wine and not pay a corkage fee.

great eating, okay service

Dined on February 25, 2016

Charcuterie and cheeses are excellent, served with homemade jam. Wine list is average but you will find something you like for a great price. Sourdough bread baskets keep coming - and it's so good you won't want to stop, but force yourself! Leave room for main courses... The scallops are fantastic - 4 in our party of 7 had them and we were all delighted. Service was sparse but fine; no complaints. And the value is excellent - a party of 7 with apps, beer/wine, entrees, desserts and coffee was $400 + tip!

Upscale Sunday Brunch

vip
Dined on February 21, 2016

Everything about the meal was very nice, from the cheese plate at the bar, to the brunch itself. We loved the olive oil and balsamic bar. Nice touch! My only disappoint was when I made reservations on Open Table I noted it was our anniversary (53rd) and thought maybe they would acnowldge that, but alas, nothing was mentioned. All and all it was a nice time.

Great brunch deal!

Dined on February 21, 2016

My friend and I went to Garces Trading Company and we each enjoyed the Brunch Special ($22 for 3 pastries, an appetizer, and an entree) and split a pitcher of mimosa for $32. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were friendly and helpful. They also have a varied selection of oils for tasting with the complimentary bread, which are also available for purchase. We are both looking forward to a return visit.

Our meal consisted of several shared appys...all outstanding and both our entre's were delicious and exactly as described! The portions were substantial enough that neither of us had room for dessert! Good food, ambiance at a good price! We will definitely go back !

What a terrific all around place. The food is absolutely delicious and certainly well elevated above even good bistro fare. Chef Garces and his team are truly excellent at making things delicious. The service is consistently spot on, warm and gracious. They are also extending the no corkage, which was also appreciated by me and those in my party. Keep up the excellence!
